I would say most of these guys are lower than Beta level however; Beta is still pretty manly in most cases. Just not aggressive in the same way Alphas are. Betas are "best buds" with plenty of Alphas; they get along just fine.

I think that people tend to look up to others who have made the same decisions as themselves because it validates their decisions. Or who talk like them, or who act and react like them. Soyboys respect people who act like soyboys, but succeed.
I don't think being manly is the key attribute, it is that Trump looks and acts different - he is his own man. And he fights back as his own man. So these soyboys can not relate to him and it is instinctive that they have to criticize everything he does because they can not see themselves doing what he does.
Even if they agree with his actions, or if his results are impressive, they see it as a bad thing. It is like a schoolgirl who's rival clique does something cool, they have to say that it is stupid.
Plenty of guys who are rich or get all the girls are also admired by the soyboys, but because they can identify as being like them, or of them having some attribute in common. Trump manages to distance himself from everyone, including many who agree with his policies. The result is that people who support Trump are able to look past the group identifiers and emotional characteristics and support him because of the results.

Knew some masculine men back in the day--college in mid-Sixties--who were pretty much the whole package except....they didn't get messages some of the women were sending. Maybe later.... I know a couple of them had satisfactory social lives but variety was awaiting them if they'd had the wit to notice. Others....didn't have satisfactory social lives despite fairly obvious opportunities. Not sure where that puts them on the Alpha scale.
Then went to Benning. Lots of Alphas there. Difference is they wouldn't have missed opportunities, since not missing ANY FREAKING THING was being explained as important.
One issue with Alphas is that they have experienced and managed a lot of Bad Stuff and...don't care about the little stuff. It's hard to be assertive about the thermostat when your temperature comfort range is 63-80 and everybody else is arguing over 69vs. 70. Top end bottled water....no Halazone? What is this?
I recall my father, alpha male, rejoicing on a Saturday at lunch. My mom said later it was because there were no holes in the house, nobody shooting at us and nobody asking for orders. Infantry ETO. He's not going to assertively insist that we have....something or other for dinner. If it's not C rats, he's happy.
So there are divisions within Alpha and some are assertive and others are easy going but....immovable.
