My figuring is the papers are materials related to the work of the guy. He walks in on her snooping and panics, knocking over the lamp(you see he's nowhere near her). There's another guy in the back left, shifting a chair, possibly a fellow spy aiming to intercept Mr. Walk-in.

And this painting is cool. So much noir-ish suspense. Whose hand is that on the right? What is happening? Did she interrupt the spy? Is she working with the spy? Is the man at the door here to help her or is he here to kill? Will 007 bang her on that desk? I need answers!!

114 The artist is clearly commenting on the empowerment of women and their liberation from a toxic patriarchy that has kept women oppressed for millenia. The falling lamp represents the collapse of domestic servitude. The papers represent the scattering of the old order. The slipping of the dress strap symbolizes her removing the chains of her enslavement, while the man in the background represents all men as they weakly and impotently watch their former slaves take their first steps into a free world, a world in which women control their own destinies.

The poll numbers are odd. Obama won based on the larger number of minority voters in the country. Absent the 1964 immigration outrage Romney and probably even McCain would have won.

But in 2020 the pollsters are telling us Trump is doing essentially as good as any Republican has ever done with minority voters but losing large numbers of white voters.

It just doesn't make any sense. One could see the BLM stuff working and Biden getting good minority numbers based on that, but white voters that voted Trump in 2016 *now* voting Biden? Really?!?

Sure there is the Corona Karen effect - but all those people I know of at least - voted Hillary in 2016.

271 critics and snobs look down on this sort of work, they call it commercial as if the goal of art is something other than feeding yourself and your family and maybe having a house half as nice as a critic would have for his "commercial" writing.

I like the style, it is open, modern, tells a story, has movement . . . All the hallmarks of a decent work of art.

I like the good covers, they show lots of care. Some don't and are poor in my estimation, some artists are meticulous skilled hacks with no apparent ability to tell a story. However, that is true for all genres of art.

Robert's Bookstore in Lincoln City has cover art framed around his giant shop, I think they are either originals or full sized lithographs of the original art. Love that stuff.

I subscribe to their digital edition. I think it is worth the money. It's biased, but they wear it on their sleeve. Some background on the Epoch Times:
- It is a Chinese (Taiwan) outfit, with various global headquarters
- It is officially and rabidly anticommunist. It isn't necessarily conservative by US standards, but their motivation is anticommunism and especially anti-PRC. They view the CCP as illegitimate interlopers holding their homeland hostage.
- They have extensive reporter networks in east Asia generally and in the PRC in particular. Their China coverage is second to none, though slanted as described previously.
- They are very pro-Trump and usually pro-America (they view Trump as an anticommunist warrior). They are anti-president whenever that president is CCP-friendly. Their core is not being conservative or pro-American, it is being anti-CCP.
- There is some controversy around the Epoch Times and the Falun Gong movement. The Times is not itself a Falun Gong organ and there is no official connection, but many of their directors are FG and the paper is very FG-friendly.

Yup - the counter argument tossed out by liberal trolls when facts on the ground don't add up to Biden leading? The pollster wouldn't lie, how would they make money? This is dumb...they are getting paid right now TO LIE - its the whole point. ABC, NBC and Politico don't want a poll showing their political enemy winning. If there is any truth to it, they are being influenced by polls and they have no information from the campaign.

In letters provided to Secrets, the department demanded Wells Fargo and Microsoft to explain the promises made by top executives to single out black people for new hiring.

In a letter to Wells Fargo, the department said the company had gone beyond promoting affirmative action when CEO Charles Scharf said the banking giant was "committed to doubling black leadership over the next five years."

In its letter to Microsoft, the Labor Department's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs made the same argument after CEO Satya Nadella said the firm and federal contractor "will double the number of black and African American people managers, senior individual contributors, and senior leaders in the United States by 2025."

It's not shame, Eris. It just is. All US papers and most of the Western press is unabashedly pro-Red and all play the same tune. The only way to get a counterpoint is to go to the anti-Red side. And I am also anti-Red, so it doesn't bother me a bit. I know their biases and motivations, and can filter appropriately. This is also true of the domestic press, but in their case it so egregious that I just have to filter basically *all* of it since they do nothing but lie.

They're the real deal, but I agree, I don't need a paper paper around here, because I won't read it, regardless of how good it is.

The issue for them has been questions about how they were founded, and whether they have some kind of ulterior motives... which are questions that seem to come mostly from their competitors.

The founders are practitioners of Falun Gong, and there are people who think that's shady, but honestly, what it means is... they are VERY biased against the Chicoms.

How can that be a bad thing?

I watch their vids on Youtube, and different vids do tend to be repetitive, because of the anti-Chi Nah slant. Not saying they're wrong, because they seem to have top notch info coming out of Chi Nah. Real reporters doing real ground work.

So if you like a newspaper in your hand, by all means, give them a go.

Monopoly power. Only the largest employers can pay this wage, so the small fry die like sprouts seeded on rocks, and the big firms can expand into those sectors, while jacking prices and providing less of those services that you can expect from a small, street level company.

That is the goal of all monopolists: control the market so you can reduce production, increase prices, and shed expensive things like quality, service and convenience.

Simple answer is unions. Most union contracts have wages set using a formula that includes the minimum wage. For example Minimum wage +40% or something like that. The higher the MW, the higher union wages are.

That's what it's all about, has nothing to do with McDonald's workers earning some bullshit living wage. It's a way for Dems to pay back unions in exchange for unions funneling union dues to Democrats.

I do not know its name, nor do I recall the rules fully, but it had been used in some leadership or teamwork training courses in recent times. Its aim was to reward competing groups for voting for the common good rather than individual reward.

It was part of a BSA Wood Badge course that I took in 2011 and by the time the exercise was finished, some folks were furious with one another and refused to speak. I think it has been discontinued in that setting now.

Biden as the challenger, needs the debates.

They have said the debates will be virtual. Trump has refused. If we end up with live in person debates and they both participate, you will know for sure that Biden is not way ahead or probably even ahead at all.

If he was, he could insist on the format he wants, or refuse to do them. He will do neither. Trump is doing both.

398 A couple of takes on polling and events:
One, media polls are designed to give the political press narratives to talk about--the CNN/Fox/NBC etc. have never been that accurate historically for years and these polls are designed deliberately to fit narratives--e.g. whites falling away, old people hating on PDT, and so on.

The named pollsters, usually allied with print sources or stand alone, such as IBD-TIPP, Rasmussen, etc. have to be more accurate because that is their business.

But, occasionally, you see a spike for some reason that does not really reflect the race and voting but approval or disapproval of current events. Late Sept., early Oct., three events happened--the 1st Debate, RBG death reaction, and PDT covid. The overwhelming negative media coverage of PDT and the RBG positive coverage along with fear of Covid (if the pres. can get it, no one is safe mentality) led to people freaking out.

My guess is that some respondents were reacting to the events and not to the underlying race--people have had enough excitement. The events could have been amplified by a spike in non response by Trump voters to polling as well due to overload as indicated by a drop in PDT approval and voting support in Rasmussen (unless they changed their likely voter screen). For that reason, I think that the spike, augmented by specific polling choices of zip codes by mass media polling, is transitory.

The approval ratings from Gallup, etc. are not showing this volatility nor are underlying economics (good), foreign policy (stable), etc. Biden is basically playing four corners as is Kamala who has been invisible. So, the only major change were the three events which 1) Trump is cured so net positive, 2) RBG's funeral is over and Dem overreach on ACB is coming, 3) 2nd debate may or may not happen but PDT is known quantity and usually the challenger needs the debate and airtime more than the incumbent.

Regarding the EV race, best to look at where the ad buys are and where the candidates go. Pence with his solid performance in the debates might actually have swung a few on the fence thoughtful voters with Kamala's offsetting performance. And sending him to Arizona is an excellent call. Pence's debate performance while PDT is sidelined came at the right time to provide Pence some stature as the PDT's emissary to the contested states. For the most part, even those disliking PDT have a hard time saying something bad about Pence.

412 Is it possible to have a poll free thread? Anyone who posts any kind of poll numbers descriptions or anything about polls gets a time out for the day? I am spending what little time I have online moving to other sites that do not have a gaggle of posters debating polls all day long because every thread here is becoming absolutely polluted with it. Just one thread is all I am asking for.

"It's why you need a boss with command authority."

It's an observable fact that most people are promoted for either their ability to be liked or their ability to take credit for other people's work. It takes a lot of effort for hard work and vision to get through the corporate sycophants.

And a lot of bosses mistake command authority for totalitarian whimsy and destroy the benefits of diversity by forcing their ideas on everyone.

460 Diversity is a challenge in business. It is an obstacle to be
overcome. It can be harnessed to drive positive change, but it's much
more likely to drive stagnation.

"Diversity" is anti-white racism designed to place unqualified people in positions they have no business holding. You could also call it "reverse racism," too. Tucker Carlson has a great YT clip about this where he asks just how "diversity" is a benefit. Spoiler: there isn't one.

It's antithetical to meritocracy and is nothing more than another attempt by the left's flying socialist monkeys to destroy our country from within by subverting its foundations under the false rubric of "fairness." Any company that buys into this blatant falsehood deserves to go out of business, the sooner the better.

492 It's tragic what the left has done to blacks, and what blacks have agreed to.

Obama is the smartest black man in America.

Karmella is the smartest black woman.

Mike is the most beautiful black woman. And let's not forget Saints Trayvon and Floyd.

It's okay. No one except extremists on the right care. We're like the green party of the left. When is the last time you remember a politician running on it at the federal level?

As another moron said, when the next Democrat wins, I'm getting on every single government handout I can.

495 Fun science fact: if you put your phone on 'silent' and set it right next to your laptop, the other participants in the call won't have to hear it ring. Instead, we get to hear VWEEP VWEEEEEP transmitted directly into our brains as it tries to vibrate itself off the desk every thirty seconds, you jackass.

507 OT: Anybody here read the Epoch Times, either on line or as a newspaper? I got a sample copy of the paper in my mailbox yesterday. Darned if the slant of the paper wasn't strongly conservative, like reading JJ's Morning Report. It featured a big middle spread listing Trump's and Biden's varying policies on a wide range of issues, and again, it seemed like reading here.
Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at October 08, 2020 10:11 AM (BeVEe)

Epoch Times is produced by anti-Communist Chinese. I see it in the lobby of Chinese restaurants. At least I did when I could get into one.

514 I actually read this actual plot line from a link at westernrifleshooters.us a few months ago. No, I am not planning on looking for the link again. Probably I am already on a list

It ended with a hanging. Did not mention Whitmore specifically but you could tell who the author meant.

I have to admit after reading it that the first thing I thought was that the guy who wrote it was asking for trouble. If it is the same guy or some idjits who took it as a a good idea, it appears that it wasnt.

So, its now obvious that the FBI is targeting conservatives.

517 114 The artist is clearly commenting on the empowerment of women and their liberation from a toxic patriarchy that has kept women oppressed for millenia.

Today's yuuutes in their early to mid 20s, are not millenials. But everyone still thinks of "young people" as millenials. That's about 10 years out of date.

Individuality in the United States IS NOT TO BE TOLERATED. EVERYONE will be classified into groups, and judgments of them will be based solely on belonging to those groups. You don't like to be pigeonholed? That's just too damn bad.
