Chris Wallace, Angry Defender of the Leftwing Democrat Establishment's Rights and Privileges

brokebackwallace.jfif

Many of us were dreading the Chris Wallace debate.

Because many of us have seen Chris Wallace's increasingly Maddow-like "reportage" over the past several years.

Previously Chris Wallace has insisted on the leftwing, and unfounded, claim that Kyle Rittenhouse is a "vigilante," nastily attacking, as he is wont to do, Katie Pavlich for making the inarguable observation that as official law enforcement recedes, private law enforcement -- "vigiliantism" -- will supplant it.

The first form of "law enforcement" is simply private vengeance-taking. That is only displaced with the introduction of reliable, professional third-party, disinterested law enforcement.

And when that professional third-party enforcement recedes, the original form of "law enforcement" returns.

This wasn't even "vigilantism," really -- this was a guy being asked by a property owner to guard his property.

But that sort of private performance of law enforcement functions is obviously required when the government-funded law enforcers are absent.

You'll notice two things from the below exchange: one, Chris Wallace is being praised by a far leftwing outlet, here, Rolling Stone.

Two, Chris Wallace really, really, really cannot abide women disputing his Solomonic pronoucements.

During a Thursday panel discussion, Fox News contributor Katie Pavlic seemed to make excuses for the alleged actions of 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, who, on Wednesday, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide after allegedly shooting and killing two protesters and seriously injuring another during demonstrations over the police shooting of a Black man, Jacob Blake, in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich made an argument that seemed to excuse vigilante justice when a law enforcement "void" exists.

"I have to say on the argument of vigilante justice. When you have no police around to defend businesses and people who are being attacked and their livelihoods burned to the ground, then there is a void that is filled," Pavlich said.

Pavlich then railed against Democratic city and state officials who she blamed for the supposed void, and host Melissa Francis wholeheartedly agreed with her take, saying, "No, that;s a great point. The vigilantes are just as much the fault of those local leaders who have failed so miserably. Great point."

Following a commercial break, Wallace made it clear that he was not buying the message that was sent during the last segment.

"I've got to push back on something we said at the end of the last segment because there seemed to be the implication that somehow vigilante justice was understandable or justified by the lack of sufficient police action and authority and presence in some of these cities," Wallace said.

As Wallace tried to complete his thought, both Pavlich and Francis showed their displeasure with Wallace's understanding of their argument, interrupting several times.

"I just gotta say this, just as it's completely a disconnect," Wallace said when he tried to continue after Francis interjected to say, "That's not what was said."

Wallace replied, "Well, that seemed to be the implication. That vigilantes were filling… Let me finish… that vigilantes were filling the void from police. Just as it’s fair to say that rioting and looting is a completely inappropriate response to George Floyd or Jacob Blake, vigilante justice is a completely inappropriate response to the rioting in the street. There is no justification for what happened in Kenosha, and vigilante justice is a crime and should be punished as a crime."

There is Chris Wallace -- hard news man -- pronouncing that self-defense of one's life is not a "justification" and furthermore that if you defend yourself from antifa/BLM, you should be prosecuted for a "crime."

As you saw in Tuesday night's debacle, Chris Wallace, like all other arrogant left-liberals, has not bothered to learn anything, and continues spitting out the venom of his early, uninformed #HotTake.

Wallace did understand what Pavlich was saying. But Wallace, like every other left-liberal, is determined to push the narrative that there are absolutely no negative consequences to BLM's riots. If BLM demands to end policing produce lawlessness, that is just "right wing riot porn" causing problems.

Here's Wallace again pushing -- hard! -- a very standard left-liberal claim, and again attacking a conservative woman for daring to dispute his Impotent Old Man Energy.

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace and network contributor Katie Pavlich got into a heated debate on Monday as they debated impeachment, with Wallace telling Pavlich to get her "facts straight" before "Special Report" anchor Bret Baier advised both sides to "tone it down" on Monday.

...

"The Senate is not the House, the House did not come with a complete case, and every impeachment beforehand, the witnesses that were called had been called in the House before being brought to the Senate," Pavlich argued. "So there are questions here about the process."

...

"Katie, what you're saying just isn't true. The fact is that the whistleblower information was given to the inspector general, who gave it to the Justice Department. The Justice Department decided not to investigate, and that is why it went to the House," Wallace said.

"So to say that in the Clinton investigation that these people were interviewed by the House, one, they weren't, and to say it wasn’t done by the Justice ... it wasn’t done by the Justice Department, because the Justice Department refused to carry out the investigation. Get your facts straight!" Wallace said.

"OK, OK, let's tone it down," Baier injected.

After Pavlich proved she was right, Wallace changed the topic to whining about him wanting John Bolton to be a witness.

Notice all the angry old man yelling that starts when a conservative woman shoots down his leftwing bullshit talking points.

And again, here's Chris Wallace angrily telling a conservative woman to shut up. Mollie Hemingway said that the Mueller Report had found nothing connecting Trump to Russia -- which had been reported in advance of the release of the full report.

Chris Wallace, who insists you trust the media except when he insists you cannot believe its reports, angrily tells Mollie Hemingway that she's not allowed to talk about media reports until the full report is released.

And again, Wallace is being praised by a leftwing source (Mediaite here).

Hemingway added "there needs to be a reckoning" in the media over their promises that Trump would be found guilty of [treason, collusion, etc.] "The people who spread this theory," Hemingway said, and "who did not behave appropriately, need to be held accountable."

Of course, Mueller’s report has not even been released yet, something Fox News anchor Chris Wallace pointed out in the segment after Hemingway's comments.

"No one has seen [this report]," Wallace said. "To say that somehow this clears the president seems like the height of rushing to judgment."

Wallace went on to brutally dismantle the rest of Hemingway's arguments seeking to dismiss Mueller’s investigation.

"People talk about the appointment of the special counsel," Wallace said. "The fact is the reason the special counsel was appointed is because Trump fired James Comey in the middle of his investigation. If Comey had been allowed to finish his investigation there probably wouldn’t have been an special counsel."

Note that Chris Wallace is, was, and always will be a huge shill for the Russia Collusion Conspiracy Theory -- and has been extremely reluctant to report on the huge news since then that almost everything Wallace previously claimed to be true was in fact a lie.

"I'm also a little surprised at this talk about process crimes," he continued. “Process crimes are not parking tickets. Process crimes are lying to federal prosecutors, they’re lying to the FBI. This is the very basis of which justice is administered. And to the degree that which commit perjury, that's a very serious crime."

And yet Chris Wallace has never called for perjury prosecutions for conspirators known to have lied in procuring the FISA warrants.

Wallace noted the special counsel resulted in "serious convictions" of Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn, Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort, and Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen.

The Hard News Man Strikes Again. First of all, Michael Flynn is innocent, as we all now know (though Wallace is characteristically quiet about proof of lawbreaking in trying to "get Flynn.")

But even at this time, Flynn was never "convicted." You are considered "convicted" in a plea deal, but only after you plea to the judge and the judge accepts the plea.

This never happened. Flynn has never been "convicted" and in fact someone with a litigious bent could sue Wallace for claiming he was.

And here's Chris Wallace again attacking a conservative female reporter, Sandra Smith, in order to in order to advance the Trump impeachment.

Chris Wallace is, I will speculate confidently, retiring next year.

He has been showing more and more partisan animus for the past three years. He literally yells at women on TV.

He decided to go out with a blaze of glory for the benefit of the Democrat Party, of which he was a member.

FoxNews has watched him become more and more embittered and more and more emotionally unbalanced in the pursuit of his partisan goals, and let him serve as moderator anyway.

This is not Chris Wallace's sin alone -- it is Fox News'. The corporate neoliberal owners of Fox new the product they were ordering up when they made this hacky nepot the "moderator." They got what they were asking for.

Bet he is pissed that Trump forced him to get involved by refusing to play along with the Wallace-Biden campaign script.

Also, saw mentioned on twitter: Wallace's list of topics did not include climate change. Why did he have prepared questions about that then? Why did Biden have prepared answers?

I think Lin would need to first ask Wallace to denounce the video using his voice. Really, it wasn't anything Wallace put together (that was Biden team), they just used Wallace's voice from the debate.

But, he either agrees with it being his voice and all, or not. Biden on the other hand should be wide-open. He straight up called Rittenhouse a white supremacist, and tied him with burning and looting.

Anybody with 2 brain cells would then wonder why Biden's team has been posting bail for white supremacists burning, looting and killing. Sadly, too many people only have the one brain cell, and it's all tied up with breathing and keeping the heart going.

71 I seriously doubt that there is even ONE single truly "undecided" voter out there.

C'mon, people, you're had four years to pick a side. And in modern society the two opposing tribes are exceedingly divergent: You are on either on Team Left, way over on that side of the island, or you are on Team Right, way over on the other side. Who remains in the No Man's Land? No one. Maybe in the past it was allowable to wander like a blundering cow around the Indecisiveness Zone, but that is no longer permitted by society. You MUST declare your tribal affiliation. Even remaining silent is presumed to be a declaration.

As a result, I really don't think anyone's mind was changed by the debate one way or the other.

And I also think that there is indeed a MASSIVE "secret Trump" out there, unmeasured by polls.

THe election will be decided by each side's "get out the vote" efforts, not by changing minds.

And in that arena, I think Biden just suppressed his own sides vote, by pissing of the base of the Democratic Party.

Trump, on the other hand, grabbed fistfuls of still-steaming bloody raw meat and hurled it into the mosh pit of his base.

73 So here is how the MSM gaslights people

Headline: Jobless claims edge lower to 837,000 as slow recovery continues

In the story, several paragraphs down: Continuing claims provided some better news, with those collecting benefits for at least two weeks falling by 980,000 to 11.77 million

So the net number of people on UE decreased by 150,000 which is very good. But the headline of the story highlights bad news. And this shit happens with virtually every story on economics today.

83 As per usual, the left is arguing from a false premise, that Kyle was a vigilante.

Never let the left set the terms of the debate.

The premise that Kyle is or was a vigilante should have been squelched, immediately.

Then, the argument for or against vigilante justice can start.

And, of course, Rolling Stone is insinuating "charged" equal "guilty."

I've mentioned this before, but my wife truly is undecided. She voted for Trump in 2016. She likes what Trump has done for the most part policy wise. But she hates Trump as a person, hates that he says (in her words) all sorts of crazy shit and thinks he is literally insane. That argument is conflation of vigilante *justice* and simple citizen patrol. Citizen patrol is common and is nothing wrong. It is what Zimmerman was doing. It is block watch. It is the guards hired by stores, and NEWS ORGANIZATIONS, and celebrities.

Citizen justice, is the hang-em-from-a-tree bit. It is the hunting, capture, and punishment of supposed offenders.

What Rittenhouse did was not vigilante justice. It was self defense after he was attacked - at least 4 times.

Chris found it necessary to forward the kook left's hoaxes about "fine people" and white supremacy. There might be some serious, legit issues out there we could talk about -- but noooo, waste time with tin foil hattery. Yo Chris, why not ask Biden if he will reveal the truth about Area 51?

Too vague ... intentionally vague, to drive the fact free narrative. What exactly "happened in Kenosha"?

BLM and Antifa violence and thugs attacking innocent people and destroying businesses. That is "what happened in Kenosha".

But Wallace can't make that true statement, he has a lie to sell. So he uses blurry meme language ... which is meant to evoke thoughts of "white supremacist vigilante murdering innocent protesters". That is The Narrative driven by media 24/7, so Wallace can effectively reference the narrative lie with the blurry line "what happened in Kenosha".

The GOP still operates as if this isn't war and one side isn't trying to literally kill the other and destroy the republic for good.

It's a weird bit of cluelessness best explained by the assumption they are not against any of that.

I place this casting abomination squarely at the feet of RNC Chair Ronna (Romney) McDaniel.

She was proud of the Romney connection when she became Chair, but now that the name is radioactive with the base she dropped it.

I looked up Scully's bio on Wikipedia a couple of weeks back and saw that intern tidbit in the first few paragraphs. It's criminal incompetence of the first order to let him slide as a moderator - you're asking for Stephanopoulos moderating a GOP debate (!!) in 2012 all over again.

This is why I haven't given to the RNC in years and years, and plan never to do so again.

That is dumb. And frustrating. And frustratingly dumb.

Wallace was not an umpire up in a chair, he was an active participant. His presence was felt as keenly as those of the debaters.

So we get a whole next day of coverage of what was supposed to be a super important event and they leave out a huge part of the story.

Even Gutfeld and TuCa, each of whom I thought was a spine-bearing creature.

The man is stupid as well as a mendacious Deep State tool (like Fox itself is). My moment with him came in an unrelated moment when he held forth that the FBI "doesn't play softball" as some sort of defense of its corruption and misbehavior. It was the beginning of the end of my Fox viewing.

The only Fox I watch now is TuCa. I started to get pissed at him last night for not addressing Wallace's blatant election interference, but at the end he put on Mark Steyn who flailed Fox's fading star. Good on Tucker.

The raison d'etre for Fox was it served as a non-left-wing news alternative. That's gone now, and I may buy some OAN shares just because something will fill the void unless a Harris presidency starts clamping down even more on alternative outlets.

246 Chris Wallace got Trump elected with his performance as debate moderator in 2016.
He took his cues from Aaron Sorkin and The West Wing episode "Game On", where the President wins his debate by challenging his opponent to give more than a ten second answer. Of course in Sorkin world Republicans are too dumb to go deep into discussions.

Chris Wallace announced he was going to go deep into each topic, thinking he would expose Trump as incompetent.
Instead, Trump got to spend the opening half hour discussing abortion and gun control, and won Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, nearly Minnesota.

My guess? Because debate moderators - according to the rules of the NGO that organizes the debates - must come from major media outlets. As a result, there is no such thing as a good moderator and the outcome will be some variant of the same theme no matter what. In other words, it doesn't matter who the moderator is and so you might as well just accept someone who isn't the worst option - and Wallace is (somehow) not the worst option.

That is why they still repeat the Trump/Russia lie (not sure what exact phrase is used on that one) ... they are still Driving the Narrative (the Meme). It still evokes the Pavlovian drool of Hate response, it is at the subconscious level. It takes counter "training" to remove it.

That's why there is no mention of Wallace by the other 'journalists'. Protect the payday.

Journalism isn't a foundational aspect of America anymore. It's infotainment, homogenized and watered down for the public.

And everyone who pays along just hopes the next guy will make a stand because they can't afford to lose the millions. That house in the Hampton's and those sweet parties are too much to lose.
Posted by: AlaBAMA at October 01, 2020 12:43 PM (emxxF)

I think we all realize what this means; "journalism" has become so heavily corrupted by these influences that no one with a Public Name or outlet can ever be trusted or counted on to tell the complete truth.

The only ones who can dare are people like those of us here, who because of the venue are shielded from personal reprisals because of what we may say.

in other words, there's more truth to be found here than in any broadcast outlet you will ever find. They aren't allowed to do it.

I wish I could talk to them. Honestly. I'm a Catholic homeschooling mom who doesn't curse, rarely drinks, has never done drugs and who tries to model decorum in everything I do. We have raised our kids to be polite and well-mannered. I am kind of the biggest nerd on the planet. I live in the south and recoil from New Yorkers.

I did not vote for Trump in the primary. But as soon as I knew he was the nominee, I knew I would crawl a mile over broken glass to vote for him on Election Day. He has rarely disappointed me in anything he has done and he has exceeded my expectations in some areas. We don't have a whole lot in common EXCEPT we both love our country and feel it's worth saving. He is the most conservative President in my lifetime.

No one President is going to make 100% of the people happy all the time. It can't happen.

The chances of anyone here ever meeting him are pretty slim, so we don't have to worry about him being rude to us. So as long as he pursues the policies he has started I can't think of one reason not to vote for him.

And no matter what, the very thought of a Biden (or rather, Harris) presidency is terrifying. If for no other reason than to prevent that, it's worth voting for Trump.

I think the big dem funders would gladly spend some of the billions they invest in elections on some direct action, and what is higher profile than the debates? What would it take. 10 million? 100 million? peanuts compared to what some of the funders spend.

but I object to those who say that just because they are at risk, EVERY one needs to stay home and submit to the same restrictions that they must. That's where so many go wrong, I believe.

I think that from the start, we should have locked down nursing homes, assisted living centers, and hospitals, and paid everyone who as 55 and over a monthly subsidy to go home and stay home. 406 60 minutes went hard left in the 80s, or maybe even the 70s, but they had more than that. They saw it as a grift where they acted straight, and honest, and serious, but what they were really doing is tabloid journalism. They looked for stories and if there was nothing there, they just zoomed in the camera a bit to make the interviewer look creepy, and edited in such a way,...

It really was the slimiest of programs, but this was before the internet and you basically had to believe whatever they told you since they were the ONLY source for so many of their investigative reports.

They creeped me out though. I think it was the format, and the editing - it looked compelling, but it also looked like there was something wrong.

I think 60 minutes kind of created the news-as-propaganda grift in the the US. Other shows had biased people, but that show had a biased business model.

What if OANN went public ... I wonder if that is an option. They could come out as the "news that is embargoed by networks" ... or " The News the Mafia run Media wants Hidden". 430 I think that from the start, we should have locked down nursing homes, assisted living centers, and hospitals, and paid everyone who as 55 and over a monthly subsidy to go home and stay home. Also, anyone who had a valid claim to be in any high risk group. But everyone else should have been allowed to stay at work, stay going out, go to restaurants, whatever, just like always. I think that plan would have resulted in less total deaths, less total cost, and less total economic destruction than what we ended up doing.
Posted by: Tom Servo at October 01, 2020 01:01 PM (Kpl3J)

My only quibble would be about 'at the start'. I do think, in the absence of significant info at the time (March), that we could justify a shutdown like the one we had. Trump's instinct to reopen by Easter was, like all of his other instincts up to this point, completely spot-on. If we did that, and then did as you suggest, we would be fine right now. We knew enough by Easter who the high-risk groups were.

While I praise the work of the COVID Task Force as necessary political theater to navigate the significant peril to Trump's presidency at the time, I think that when the book is written on this whole incident they will come against significant criticism about how they didn't address the realities on the field with this new information.

I expect Rhomboid to write that book.

446 This "white supremacy" thing is really striking.

Yes, we've had a society marinating in ridiculous idiotic untrue things for years (not all of them unpopular in this crowd here, sadly), but this is so stark, and so vile.

What I assume to be the generally worthless GOP Senator Portman (OH) issues a florid statement about this "group" or "movement" that is pretty much a unicorn - and absolutely a unicorn as far as being anything that influences or does anything of importance. And some other incredibly doofus-y weird GOPer I've somehow never heard of (Young), with an even more ridiculous statement.

And kind of related. Cuomo literally lying, bald-faced, about his COVID policy directive involving nursing homes (which of course occurred and is documented and simply a well-known fact). To the cameras. Unbelievable. This is the Soviet ambassador to the UN denying the KAL 007 shoot-down.

Things have been bad for a while.

But at least to me, we are now on a qualitatively new level of systemic mendacity and Soviet-like distortion of reality, when it comes to "news".

Most of the people making that argument just want Trump, and more importantly Trump voters, to submit.

And "politeness" is a sign of that. Think about it, in China if a member of the CCP demands you something do you give them a rude answer back? Well...not if you want to live.

Posted by: 18-1 at October 01, 2020 01:17 PM (qlFIA)

499 The problem with Wallace and the rest is they want answers to things that concern THEM or they believe will get them kudos from the journalist horde. So they ask questions like, "What did you mean on Sept. 12th when you said..." Well, Chris, doesn't it matter what the candidate said on the same subject on every other day of this year? I believe it does.

One way for the moderators to run these things is to ask open ended questions. For example, "Mr. Biden, please describe how you would work to ensure violent protests for any cause are swiftly stopped by law enforcement, and that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted. I will give you four minutes, ask follow-up questions, then your ooponent will be given four minutes to respond."

Or something like that. I guess the Media Royalty think that's simply letting the candidates recite their standard campaign spiel on a subject. That's FINE. Most people haven't heard that spiel. And the other candidate gets to respond in real-time, for all to hear.

Judge Sullivan is going to sentence Flynn on November 2. I cannot decide if he will go with no jail so that appeals look petty and useless, or if he goes for the max (like the 7 or 8 years the SCO lawyers were trying for). I am thinking the max forces Trump to pardon or looks worse for Trump, so I am starting to lean that way.

I see commentary from lots of judiciary and lawyer types that the DC Court of Appeals was trying to give Sullivan a face saving way to get out of his situation by reversing the writ of mandamus and telling him to act in all dispatch.

They seem to be operating on the basis that the Court of Appeals is operating as a Court and not a partisan body.

Because if they wanted to have Sullivan go ahead and grant the motion to dismiss, they would have said so. Not as a mandate, they would have said, look, you are a judge, not a prosecutor, your little circus is not authorized by any precedent or rules or anything at all.

526 In civilization, citizens DELEGATE law enforcement to professionals, but they do not give up their duty as citizens to enforce law if it is required by circumstances--as was the case in Kenosha. (Also see current-day Minneapolis and the Korean acts during the LA Rodney King riots.
This duty is a result of natural law's Common Good, which produces the moral obligation we all have to assist family, friends, and neighbors who are in need. (It also flows from and expands on the law of self-defense; this is the reason for the Armed Forces in international matters.) The Founders short-handed all that with the phrase ".......life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

Not that long ago, the town constable or county Sheriff organized posses of citizens to locate and bring malefactors to justice. Citizens still perform "citizen's arrests" albeit rarely, and reporting criminal activity is very common. ALL these functions are corollaries.
Wallace is far from the only Democrat and/or NeverTrumper to decry 'vigilantism' as an unmitigated evil, totally unjustified, yadayada, and all of them are wrong on the theory and the history. God help them when the SHTF in their neighborhood. "Vigilantes" may be suddenly busy elsewhere.

528 What makes Wallace one of the biggest assholes of the bunch is that for months he's been bitching that Biden won't come on his show. He's tried to act like he wanted to grill him just like he grilled Trump, and then when he gets the chance to ask him a question he just completely lets Biden walk all over him.

529 Jesus, what a shameless dipshit. Volunteering to join your fellow citizens in guarding them against criminals makes you a vigilante? may that maggot rot in hell.
