The Leftwing Unveils Its Plan: They Want Lockdowns Forever, to Fight "Global Warming"

The paranoids out there who said that this was always the left's gameplan? That the whole "covid lockdown" gambit was just a trial run for a permanent police state lockdown of the population?

(A lockdown for all but the high officials of the Inner Party, that is.)

Those who said the game was always to free prisoners and imprison free men?

Collect your winnings.

You were 100% right.

lockdownsforever

Also, Open Thread.

Also also: Blegging thread.

So, I'd like to "call a lid" on the day tomorrow by around 1pm tomorrow. I can do that if I quickly write a three posts about the day's headlines, and then spend the rest of tomorrow posting things I actually wrote today.

That's where you come in.

If you can think of/remember a story that will keep for one day -- something not closely connected to the news cycle, not breaking news of limited useful life -- please let me know about the story in the comments, and provide a link for me if you have it.

If I can dash off five or six such "will keep for 24 hours" posts, I can attempt to emulate the vital, vigorous, mentally-sharp Joe Biden and start Sundowning in the early afternoon.

BTW, even if you've already posted tips in earlier threads, please repost here.

Bonus open thread content:

Thanks to SMOD.

Umm... no. I know liberals in MI who are happy that Auntie Gretchen in taking care of them by making 10,000 proclamations regarding how they can live their lives. They're happy in their little concentration camp bubble. And as long as she keeps sending them money (they just got $300 additional COVID cash) they cool with whatever rules are foisted upon them.

My guess is the same holds true in Manhattan. TPTB are doing this because they CARE. That's the liberal mindset.

Asked about his thoughts on the Senate Report on Hunter Biden, Senator Rand Paul said

"I think riding on Air Force Two and doing business is illegal. I think that is against the law, and probably a felony," Paul explained.

"I think it's illegal to take money from a Russian politician's wife, $3.5 million. Was it reported accurately? I think the only way to determine the actual legality of this is to have it referred to the Department of Justice," he added.

"So, I'm going to send the report over. I don't know if the whole committee will vote for it, but I'm sending the report, tomorrow, to the Department of Justice, and we're asking for a criminal referral."

128 Kallisto,
Normally, temporary injunctions by fed. district court judges are often put on hold for higher court review due to appeals.

Dem DC judges often do not act that way and often a judicial panel of the reviewing Court of Appeals then stays the action. This is to require the district court to allow the legal process contesting the temporary injunction to go forward and giving more of a record for the COA to rule on. In a similar way, Dem judges tend to abuse nationwide injunctions when technically as a matter of law, it is binding only on the district (and parties) where the ruling is made. In the era of judicial forum shopping, using the lawfare model where law is warfare under other means, it is rejected by the left.

Equity rulings are generally one of the more reversible actions that a judge can make when appealed because no jury is involved. The judge's butt is especially exposed when it is a temporary injunction has to rise to the level of irreparable harm to plaintiffs and likely success in following proceedings to be legally justified for the plaintiffs to win.

136 A straw in the wind for Trump:

In April, the economists working for the State of Oregon predicted a $2 billion hit to state revenues over the next two years due to coronavirus (Oregon has a two-year budget cycle). That's about five hundred bucks a person.

After all, Second Great Depression, bla, bla, bla.

The economy was obviously going to go south, taking state revenues with it.

And now... never mind.

"We're talking about a $2 billion increase in the current biennium resources, which effectively erases what we had in terms of recession in the forecast," said Mark McMullen, state economist with the Office of Economic Analysis. "We expect to end the biennium about the same as we did in March."

The State of Oregon is now forecasting that it will be collecting more state income tax revenue in 2020 than in 2019.

If this is mirrored nationwide, this is great news for Trump.

Forest management, and being willing to open up non-green energy sources like hydropower. (But manmade dams kill Gaia! the new Frozen movie told me so!) Instead he is implementing a draconian car plan that will stop small businesses and poorer people from owning a car, because they often need cheaper, used, gas powered trucks and cars to get around. Only the rich can afford new electric cars. Which is part of the plan.

I had hoped that the killing of the whole economy being the only way to achieve their green goals would prove to leftists that their Green New Deal dreams were stupidly unfeasible. I should have realized they'd take it as "challenge accepted!", and choose to shut down the economy instead.

Feinstein, like other pols, actually is the front person for a team. Her staff, the interest groups and donors, and her political supporters in the state do not want to lose influence if a new person takes office.

So, the aging pol is propped up in office until they keel over and that is bi-partisan btw. To some degree, perhaps in Feinstein's case, remaining senator may be protection against investigations into various laws that might have been broken over the years.

That is part of the problem with DOJ and FBI misconduct involving thwarting and allowing investigations of House and Senate members based on political calculus in these agencies.

They are terrible. To watch the market, I have an S&P bookmark, just through google. So whenever I check on the market, there is the chart, which is all I care about, but also a bunch of links to stories. Usually from Marketwatch. They are always doom and gloom/against Trump in a subtle way. But I actually enjoy them because they are usually, 8-12 hours old, and always wrong. *The sell off will continues says guru who is never wrong.* And the market is up 1.5 %. Hate MarketWatch.

223 166, kallisto, the PA dist court rulings will go to the Third Circuit in Philly which I believe now has a overall Republican majority. However, my guess is that the panel ruling (initial appeals are go to panels of three 3rd circuit judges randomly picked) on the injunctions might be forthcoming in the next week or so depending on the Wolf admin's filing for appeal.

If the 3rd circuit panel supports the district rulings, then Wolf can take it to the full 3rd circuit which might not hear the appeal and thence to the Sup. Ct. which might not hear it either as "not ripe" for dispute.

Posted by: Ace at 04:53 PM

Thank you. I predicted this sometime in April, after the first deadline for re-opening was missed.

And then thinking about how this is exactly how the Left wants us to live.

-- No mass gatherings for sports or concerts or festivals, etc (because that means massive amounts of people traveling to and from those gatherings in their gaia-killing automobiles)
-- Working from home for everyone (again, much fewer people driving to work in their gaia-killing automobiles)

And with the collapse of professional sports comes the collapse of small businesses that depend on sports (bars, restaurants, etc).

Added bonus of killing other industries as well:

-- hotels
-- airlines
-- amusement parks
-- cruise lines

Not to mention, now that we have 6 months of data showing that the economy was able to recover and adjust and people have adjusted to work from home and people don't miss sports or concerts or festivals and are adapting to the "new normal", well, of course the next step is to say let's keep it going to "save the planet!"

If Biden/Harris/Deep State win in November, you know that's their first order of business: usher in every lunatic policy of California for the entire country.

253 more on what I said in #143

Yest I heard an interview where Ted Cruz mentioned off handedly that with the right approach we can *bankrupt* chyna. That is what I like to hear, but never thought I would.

Trump banning the SJW bs from gov.

Trump's UN speech, which was pretty confrontational, where he called on the world to hold chyna accountable for what they have done.

The fact that other countries are moving in the direction of confronting chyna. They still talk pretty, but that is expected. They seem to understand the threat now even if they are glad to claim that Trump is out of step - he is leading them.

The talk on IP theft. This is the core issue. This is 90% of the problem and for decades it has been ignored. We still have a long way to go (total ban on China trade,) but we are finally moving in the right direction.

Seriously, No other candidate has been right on any of these issues. (Except maybe Duncan Hunter in 2008, but he was such a non-contender I didn't examine him too much.)

266 Open thread? Good, I've been waiting for one of these.

Gearheads, put me some knowledge. Our garage (and home) was flooded with sea water due to the storm surge from Sally. We bugged out in the wee hours that morning and had to leave my wife's Mini Cooper in the garage. We were unable to get back to the house for a couple of days due to downed trees and power lines. Once we did get back, we got the Mini out of the garage, we inspected it and found no evidence that water entered the interior of the vehicle.

However, when we left that day, I followed my wife as she drove it back to the hotel where we were staying. Every time my wife shifted gears (it's a manual), water -- a lot of it -- came shooting out both tailpipes. This went on for a few miles. Every time she went up a hill or stopped at a traffic light that was on a slight incline, water drained out of both tailpipes. This went on for over ten miles.

The car drives fine, at least for now. The computer/ECU/whatever it's called hasn't given any indication that something is amiss with the exhaust emission system, but I have to believe that sea water having sat in the exhaust system for a couple of days can't be good for it.

I'm inclined to have the car inspected at the Mini dealer with the hope that, as a minimum, they say the entire exhaust system should be replaced due to the long term corrosive effects from the sea water. It's a 2019 with only 1200 miles on it.
What say you?

We now have, I think, ten years to complete this World War II-like effort to save ourselves. Back-timing to her original warning, maybe nine? And the whole thing is contingent on pro-Green New Deal Dems taking the White House, the House, ad the Senate in 2020. Otherwise, it's fires, floods, famine, plagues, and mass death. Why isn't her gang either panicking or laying in stores? Learning to swim, weave baskets, spear-fish, all that survival stuff? why are they obsessing on racial micro-aggressions and masking?

That briefing of Trump was used as a pretext to legitimize the debunked dossier, which was funded by the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign and compiled by a foreign intelligence officer who was working for a sanctioned Russian oligarch.

and they were yes elderly people in homes primarily but what else?

they were put on vents

we knew vents were highly likely to kill them

which is what happened

and I'm sorry but I think clinicians knew the risk there

deaths were manufactured to keep the panic going

For those not local, WA state agriculture is big on apples. Apples grow in dry Eastern Washington. In damp Western WA, apples grow too, but a pest known as an "Apple Maggot" also grows in a few Western WA apples. For decades. The quarantine is successful in stopping the spread. It is well known by most locals.

There are signs on the freeways, "ENTERING APPLE MAGGOT QUARANTINE AREA - DO NOT TRANSPORT APPLES OUT OF THE AREA", and have also been there for decades.

Emperor Jay either never is on a freeway, doesn't know how to read or comprehend a simple road sign, or just thumbs his nose at state law and thinks, like Jerry Nadler, that his shit don't stink.

Thailand may get messy soon. They have been under a soft military coup for a while.* But people are getting a bit sick of that. Plus the covid lockdown, which has made them the envy of various listicles, is killing tourism and therefore business. Living there, you would not notice. But the new king...he is...as you posted...still getting his bearings (it is illegal to post anything negative about the King if you are in Thailand, so one has to be careful).
* The old, beloved king died, a general took over control of the country, in a sort of benevolent dictatorship, while the new king sorts stuff out.

Sure they did! Most of all, the proles got used to wearing masks and staying 6' apart so they could be tracked by AI.

And now, people are so scared they do not want to let go of their security blankets, I mean masks. So yeah, masks have been a resounding success!

Posted by: redsweater at September 24, 2020 05:53 PM (a4ji4)

NPR, of all groups, had a radio interview with someone who crunched the numbers on critical race theory training. BILLIONS, with a B, are spent running these trainings every year at large corporations, and no data proves it is helping. In fact the data proves the opposite. (The radio hosts refused to address the elephant in the room: a lot of white males are white collar, they probably resent being told they are evil and everything is their fault.) They refused to admit it is a huge grift. They ADMITTED it was a huge waste of time and money, and they are not sure how to create trainings that actually move the needle.

I like to think that Trump is cutting federal finding of Critical Race Theory training, not just because it's dumb to subsidize a poisonous ideology, but because it's such an obvious waste of taxpayer money.

579 Had a flight from St Louis to Newark Airport with like a 150mph tailwind. Bumpy ,bumpy ride and I must have had an ear infection because I had terrible pain in my ears for the only time ever flying. 580 The most terrifying flight or drive you've ever had.

- On a flight from Salt Lake City to Dulles the aircraft experienced an total hydraulic failure. We spent over an hour over the Great Salt Lake dumping fuel. The co-pilot had my co-worker and I move out of our seats to "see if the landing gear was working" after using some manual mickey mouse shit.

- Drive through the coastal mountains in CA during Thanksgiving, with 20+ inches of snow. In a minivan. With Jr. High cheerleaders.

Example -- The reason for all Biden's campaign 'lids' is that he actually died a couple of years ago, and Putin is actually acting as Biden, with makeup.

Emergency landing at a Spanish MILITARY airport, where we were suddenly surrounded with Jeeps carrying Machine guns, as we Sailors sat there in Uniform.

Turns out a brake had locked up, and that caused friction which set off the fire alarm. Took a couple of hours to get the parts, and fix it.

Then we flew off in the same damn plane again.

635 >> Why are people who are so vocal about muslim oppression in the US, so silent about the Uhigers?

A guess?
They are vocal about muslims because they hate America, so siding with muslims is in opposition to concern about jihadi attacks/threats to the US by certain Islamic haters of western civ (ISIS, AQ, Iran). Muslims for years have been the ultimate "diversity" to force everyone to embrace or you're a racist.

Uygurs don't hate the US, have no stake in any domestic partisan dispute, are not a demographic of US immigration. Worse, defending them requires criticizing China, who is the current threat to the US in place of ISIS, AQ, etc. as well as the biggest foreign opposition to Trump. Naturally they side with the side that threatens/challenges America and Trump because they have a common enemy: Trump's America.

Also the state that can't even keep our fucking lights on reliably -- to the point where the electrical utility that serves my area has the nickname "Pakistani Gas & Electric" -- so charging all those Teslas is sure to be no problem, right?

I don't know what constitutional authority the governor has to make such an order, and I would hope that the auto manufacturers have some grounds to take my state to court and have the order nullified.

657 I was surprised there was no post on the Trump UN speech. He called out china and was very confrontational. I would quote it, but the while thing gets into good details attacking china on different issues.

I mean, to me it sounded like a declaration of war. (oops, not war, "short-of-war.")

666 Ace, an idea: the fave times that the media took trump literally and not seriously, versus the proper way of taking him seriously but not literally.

(Example: media flipping their lids over Trump joking with people to vote, and vote twice, once with mail in ballot and once in person.)

Other possible topic: Potential October surprises we see coming.

667 MUST SEE POST IDEA

I posted this a few weeks ago, but here it is again.

JCS Criminal psychology video called "The legend of Jeff"

It is a channel that does comments on interview tactics and techniques mostly just showing the actual police video. Most are over an hour, but this one is short, and different. He talks about anti-hero and has a lot of commentary about Bad Santa, etc. Very good, and horde worthy.

669 POST IDEA: Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma

Very high production values. Extremely interesting analysis of your teenage child vs. the 100 smartest AIs in the world (my child has NO electronics, and I'm a PhD Computer Scientist). Completely drops the ball with a one-sided analysis of fake news.

673 POSTING TOPIC
Good for any day and everyday- Equity in schools. Not 'equity' but 'Equity'.There is a national plan for the Left, primarily using NAACP, to introduce Black Lives Matter curriculum into schools. It starts by targeting a school, district, county, or state, accusing it of racism, then getting the target board to start a committee to research this racism. Then they get to work with action items, that are supposedly thought up by the committee in meetings, but really are following a prearranged plan probably unknown to many of the committee members.Behavior equalization with new procedures, and indoctrination.
Actual curriculum changes are included as well, hidden behind a lot of vague language so people don't understand what the changes are. You complain of Critical Race Theory in government agencies and corporations, but this is being implemented into school curricula.Best description I've seen, while still vague, is with Wisconsin DOE, implemented under then Superintendent Tony Evers.Edina, Minnesota and Fairfax County have also reportedly adopted similar things.

674 I just got about Reponsive Race Circles in Loudoun County-
When you register, a Restorative Practices facilitator will
contact you to discuss the expectations for participation and conduct a
brief pre-screen with you and your child. Our team consists of student
assistance specialists, school social workers, and school psychologists
who are also members of the unified mental health teams. Two trained
facilitators will lead the one-time virtual circle 60 minutes, with no
more than 6 students in each and circles will be conducted outside of
synchronous instructional time. is taking precautions to protect
student privacy and prevent disruptions during the circle process. If a
student uses offensive language or displays inappropriate behavior, they
will be removed from the meeting and the parent will be
informed immediately.

675 543. Never a big Maynard Ferguson fan. All the trumpet players I knew loved him. (Could be related to being taken off trumpet and being moved to drums in fourth grade. I kept puffing out my cheeks and we weren't playing jazz.)

On that same Yootube page I saw this:

Not really a big jazz fan, but I loved the Incredibles. I want to take the one French Horn player home and feed her up. I wouldn't even mind if she held me funny.

677 Scariest flight was my first. Was supposed to be a simple commuter flight from St Louis to Chicago, until weather messed up everything.

Couldn't take off at scheduled time because of bad thunderstorms over Chicago. Waited 45 minutes and rushed a take-off because there was going to be a break in the weather and they thought they could get in to O'Hare before the weather got bad again.

Encountered what I am sure now was minor turbulence, but it was my first flight so I had nothing to compare it with.

Weather turned and we went into a holding pattern over Springfield IL, and there was some discussion of landing there if the weather at Chicago didn't clear.

Eventually the weather did turn, but the flight took three hours instead of the scheduled hour. Got in to O'Hare having missed the last bus to my destination, so I spent the night there waiting for the first bus of the day.
