WokeFL Ratings for Sunday Night Wokeball Plummet 23%, 28% In the Demo

Are you ready for some WokeBall?

Even with the usual ratings gold of Jerry Jones' team on the field, the NFL and NBC didn't get that win -- at least not in the early numbers. Despite two teams with big national followings, SNF snared a 4.7 in early ratings among adults 18-49 and 14.81 million viewers last night.

In numbers certain to change, that's a fall of 28% in the demo and a hard decline of 23% in sets of eyeballs from the early numbers of the the September 8, 2019 SNF season debut. While the early Nielsen data lacks West Coast numbers -- kind of important when you have a team from the Los Angeles market in the mix -- his result is going to be hard pill for the NFL and NBC to swallow.

CBS sports had earlier told its broadcasters to avoid commenting on the protests attention gambits, because people are sick of them.

What happens on the field will be discussed by CBS announcers. What isn’t happening on the field will not be. Almost like it should be.

First reported by Forbes, CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus gave his broadcasting team clear directives to not interject personal opinions on Black Lives Matter, kneeling, social justice of any kind during the broadcast.

"Our announcers on site at the games are not gonna condone, they're not gonna condemn what’s going on," McManus said. "They're going to report it and they're going to move on.

"We need to thread the needle just the right way, because there are people who are tuning in just to hear about football. So we need to make sure that we don't overdo the emphasis on what's going on in our country, but we’re not gonna ignore it."

I don't think that'll be enough.

32 The damage has been done. I watched a bit of the game Thursday. I tuned in specifically before to see what bullshit they would pull. One Chiefs player kneeled (hope they get rid of him), the moment of unity has caused tons of arguing back and forth here. I didn't hear any booing.. none.. zilch..nada. Some say it was fans booing the Texans as they came onto the field and spilled over in the unity moment. I heard and saw various clips and definitely heard booing so idk.. weird I didn't hear it. I think it depended on where you were and what mics picked up.

72 So, does CBS think sports commentators and announcers matter? Whether they condemn or condone has no relevance. The actions of the league, the teams and players do matter and do have relevance. If the announcers mention it or not, or support it or not, makes no difference whatsoever.

Do they think that so long as the announcers don't inject their opinions that I will fail to notice that everyone else is? Do they think that I'll fail to notice that the league and the teams and most of the players are against me and my way of life just because the announcers don't try to explain it to me?

Why do they think this would work? My beef isn't with the announcers. It's with an entire structure and edifice that hates me and wants to destroy my country and subjugate me under their boots.

34 I have never understood the continued interest in watching grown men playing games for a living. This is particularly true for FB and BB. I would have expected people to get bored after seeing a ball dunked or run across a goal line a few hundred times. Maybe that is finally coming to pass and people are ready to go on to something else.

Husband had the tv on when football coverage started - not sure which channel, and volume was low. However, there was so much signaling going on with their shirts/hoodies - "Demand Justice Now" "End Racism" and others I can't recall. This was all the non-football player people on the field before the game started. Then they left the field and went to the announcer desk where some guy was speaking, where his name should be it said something like "Social Justice Expert" or something, it was clear he was their designated SJW/Race expert there to lecture, likely for every game, throughout the game.

That's a silly distinction to make. Name one time in the NFL season when there ISN'T something else to do beside watching.

And you're making the point by missing the point: People are doing other things.

If you want to make a cogent argument that the drop-off in numbers is caused by something OTHER than Woke, then make that argument. There are other explanations available.

Forget the money. In order to even begin to get me to watch, the NFL must have a ZERO tolerance policy of political activism on AND off the field.

It is a privilege to play for the league and you will obey its rules. And the league is going to be 100% pro-American.

If it means cutting loose every single player and staring over again, so be it.

That will never happen but that is the only way I will consider watching again.

Sports, when it's honest and done right, is uplifting. It's about pushing the limits of human strength, endurance, and skill -and taking risks- to achieve a measurable (if arbitrary) goal.

The action is generally enough to keep interest, it's more interesting than watching paint dry, but what keeps people coming back are those moments where someone does something that's flat out amazing, or when you have a living legend at their peak performance.

NASCAR became boring when it ran out of Earnhardts. Baseball's giants had feet of clay - the latter day home run kings used steroids. Football has become so formulaic that there's almost no innovation left.

Add a layer of spoiled millionaires preaching about privilege, and all the things that draw people are gone.

242 I hated the NFL before Tebow. The constant stories of drugs, rape and murder were the tip of iceberg. Wokeness is just the latest excuse for presenting felons as tv stars. The NFL draws low-life thugs and criminals like flies to shit. It's no wonder that anti-Americanism will be the chosen hill that they die on.

Tax-exempt organization , my lily white ass.
And football as a whole is fucking over college sports. Colleges and universities are using COVID as an excuse to get rid of their other sports teams in order to shore up the Holy D1 Cult of Pigskin. The NFL machine politics has reached into the NCAA and wrecked college careers that might not have been pro-level but were certainly important to the kids who played and paid for college through full and partial scholarships.

There was something admirable about athletes that worked hard and became role models. Underdog stories, great strategies lots of things to emulate and respect.

The NFL , NBA and MLB destroyed that positive civilization-enhancing model , flipped the bird to it's fans and showed it's true rotten colors to the rest of America.

Die broke, all ya'll.

297 First time in 11 years I have not had NFL Network RedZone going on my TV from 1pm to 8pm.

First time in 20 years I have not had NFL games on my TV from 1pm through the Sunday night game.

First time in 18 years I have not been involved in any fantasy football leagues, after being involved in no less than 5 each of the last 10+ years.

That said, I could tell from my former league going on without me as well as family and friends all talking about football on Facebook and in call-in work meetings today that I am apparently the only one within my social circle who has given up on professional sports.

Disappointing. Both that (1) I now know that sports leagues supporting anti-America, Marxist, Black-supremacist, anti-cop-bigoted domestic terrorism is not enough to drive them away from supporting them and (2) it's frustrating to no longer have that bond with them to talk about anything regarding sports.

This is not something to rejoice. This is just another bit of American culture that the Left has happily destroyed. It is another way of bonding family, friends and coworkers together than has now been broken. And I hate that.

You may not care about sports, but millions of others do. Or did. And this is a sad time for all of them.

Think about that when the Left comes for something you care -- cared -- deeply about and bonded you with friends, families and coworkers.

Speaking of the US Open, Naomi Osaka, who won the women's final, is dating a black rapper/activist from L.A. and the announcers for that match, especially Chris Evert, couldn't stop gushing about Naomi's bright future as a civil rights icon. If you've ever heard Osaka speak in public, you have a sense of how ludicrous a proposition that is. JoeBiden: If Trump wins again, "how many suburbs will be burned in wildfires? How many suburban neighborhoods will have been flooded out? How many suburbs will have been blown away in superstorms?"

This sounds like polling in the suburbs was problematic for Biden. While also reminding voters that this president lack the weather control abilities of Obama.

Imma disagree here.

My kids (teens all) watch a lot of people playing vieo games. I didn't get it until it clicked in my head - it's like watching sports. You aren't playing hte game, you are watching other people do it.

And here is where this is moving - there is a thing, v-tubers, which are virtual people playing video games. Theoretically there are real people playing the game, and there is a cgi avatar - typically a cute anime type girl - on screen playing. Soon - perhaps even now - those v-tubers are going to be AIs. They will really really be virtual.

There is already a virtual video game betting thing, Salty bet, people create the fighters, and they face off as NPCs. Well, maybe people are creating them.

1. Overthrown the government by force
2. Ruthlessly expropriate property owners, "capitalists", etcetera etcetera by force
3. The armed Dictatorship of the Proletariat forces everyone to become the same class
4. Now that class is eliminated and since governments exist only to enforce class divisions, the state will wither away of its own accord, as it is no longer needed and no longer has purpose.

Think about that when the Left comes for something you care -- cared -- deeply about and bonded you with friends, families and coworkers.
Posted by: Clyde Shelton at September 14, 2020 04:38 PM (Do5/p)

This. ^
The left has been salivating for years over the idea of destroying all sports , especially male dominated ones. It's been the equality crap for several decades , capped off with Title IX that is finally starting to succeed in removing mens's sports from college( Minnesota announced last week they are eliminating four men's sports in order to " bring their sports offerings into line with their increased female enrollment"). Then it was allowing transgenders to play on any team they wanted, with this idiocy going up to the Olympic and international level. CTE became a big driver of contact sports being dumbed down, rule changes, most of them fear of lawsuit based. Now we have Covid eliminating not just fans, but prohibiting many sports from being conducted. BLM was then added to bring in accusations of racsim, social justice, etc. and the entire sports universe and it's corporate money are pounding this at the American people at every event.

I didn't watch any NFL games yesterday, which for me is like a lifestyle change of epic proportions. I was changing channels and saw for a second or two, the end zone of a game with BLACK LIVES MATTER painted on it. The day after two officers were almost shot to death in their car and then their emergency professionals were being blocked from their care by BLACK LIVES MATTER adherents. Until the NFL renounces this evil marxists group, I am done with them.

457 Exactly, he's had Aaron numbers, not Bonds numbers. He didn't go from
20 a year to 50 a year and grow three sizes. Remember Brady Anderson
who had a little pop like 5-10 hr a year then suddenly hit 50? That's
how you tell someone is cheating.

But this idea that magically the ability to hit a lot of home runs
ended in 1975 and it can never be done again by anyone no matter what
unless they are using drugs is asinine and childish.
----------
Well I'm not making that argument. There are other ways to tell if you are cheating. Beating injuries and such. The Roger Clemens way. I don't know if Pujhols cheated or not. But since he played in an era where most who put up career numbers did, it shines a negative spotlight on him.

When he was in Denver for the one season he made watching the Broncos fun. You could see the impact he had to the team -- they played better, and they were having fun with a lot of games where they won in the last minutes. His teammates were won over. Tebow always had a guest in the stands, some kid with health issues, so he was there during the post-game giving them the spotlight.

Regardless of what one thinks of his abilities, he was clearly a good influence on the team. Manning did it, too, of course, but it was fun to witness Tebow come in and just make the team better.

How about some symbolic body mutilation by the players to show how much they oppose racism?

To show how committed they are to ending racism.

Or... he changed his batting style to be one of those uppercut guys managers want now because he was getting old and couldn't hit like he used to.

Players are often interchangeable, that if you plug this guy in here, he'll be fine, but put him in there and he'll fail miserably.

There were many can't-miss QBs in college who never made it in the pros. As often as not it was injuries, and when it wasn't it was because they got put in a system that wasn't right for them.

Tebow as a unique talent. Most NFL offenses are not designed to work with his kind of talent. Nor were they going to work with Johnny Manziel, even if he wasn't such a self-destructive douchebag.

The networks, if their legal departments are worth anything, have permission to cut back on what they pay for those rights if viewership levels drop significantly. It's the money from those rights that allows the NFL to stay in existence. If viewership continues to drop, and the networks can pay less, that's about the only situation that will get the league's attention.

A vital thing to a Republic.

Once you take that away I personally consider professional sports immoral, and any time or money spent on them as immoral. All that any protesting sports are now is a distraction from just and good uses of your leisure time. No, they're exactly the same.

587 Jerry Jones should sue the NFL for the revenue they have lost him.

I was born and raised in Dallas, been a fan since the days of Danny Three-And-Out White.

And the NFL is dead to me. Worse, as Ace or Someone said in an earlier post - I've already found something ELSE to spend my entertainment time and money on during the weekends. Dialing down the Marxism won't bring me back.

Tommy Petty had great lyrics that summed this up:

Every changed
Then it changed again

The key is the second line. If something changes once, it can be reverted back. But a second change shifts the ground underneath it, there's nothing there to revert.

I'm sure there's a Chem Law on this or somesuch.

I think about it all the time because they already have many times over. This is just sports' turn.

I think she was retired and agreed to come out of retirement to work on this for a period of time. I"m sure she was reminded daily why she would rather be retired.

590 I'm done, Ace. If the XFL still stays around, I'll buy Battle Hawks gear and wear it around the STL. If they go belly-up, I'll put their stuff in my closet along with my other no-longer-existent St. Louis sports teams and root for the next one to come along. Hell with it.

591 example:

1st Change: your girl leaves you - there is still a change to get her back

2nd Change: she gets married - forget it, it's over

That is where I am at with the NFL and sports in general.

594 Tuned into Sunday Night Fiasco late second quarter, to avoid the
wake-ta-tude, and maybe see how the game was going. Had to shut off the
sound in under 2 minutes. What idiot thought fake crowd noise sync'ed
to the plays on the field was a good idea should be sacked. Then first
silent commercial break was some BLM propaganda, off went the channel.

NFL flushed the American audience, now all they have is a bunch of turds floating in the bowl looking for a home.

See ya!

Was it the guy from the Dallas round bouncy spotzball team that said he would not miss any of the fans that didn't agree with his hectoring millionaire players? Said some snide thing like "Bye" or "See Ya".
Gonna be funny when the Marxists tell him to burn another 20% of the fan base with the next big cleansing.

Jeez!

But I had forgotten it, but great memory man! Wish I had intended to throw his smug statement back onto his irrelevant court, but was unintentional.

Huge points to you CtWaS, picking up on the finer points of the S$%t-storm brewing and tying it together.

Dwayne Johnson( the Rock) and a consortium of other investors bought the XFL out of bankruptcy in August. It was approved and finalized by the bankruptcy court two weeks ago and is now owned by this group. They are planning to play the league in 2021.

601 I turned off the National Felons League a few years ago and the one bright spot in my existence was the MLS and hometown favorites Atlanta United which was a winner. But then the MLS got all woke and sadly I have now tuned them out also. My daughter is a rabid 5 Stripes (their nickname) fan and even hoped that we would go to a game one day especially since soccer had been such a big part of my life. I played for over 20 years even some brief stints in the semi pro leagues in Germany, but once politics entered I exited.
I wish I could explain to folks the feeling I got whenever I was on foreign soil and our national anthem would play. I don't care where I went in the world when the first few chords were sounded everybody knew which country it was. Sorry but the whole state of affairs with millionaires telling me what a privileged life I live have never spent a single night in a foxhole, ankle deep in water, freezing, not being able to recall when the last hot meal was is the height of hypocrisy.

Sports Broadcasting was their "safe school", they all dream of going to MSNBC like WhatsHisName and "changing the world".
