Unexpectedly, The US Economy Adds Nearly 1.8 Million Jobs in July

The unemployment rate fell from 13% to 10.2%.

The U.S. economy added nearly 2 million jobs during July, the Labor Department said in its monthly report Friday.

The widely-anticipated assessment said 1.8 million payrolls were added for the month. The unemployment rate declined to 10.2%, it added.

...

The assessment showed that the number of unemployed persons in the United States fell by 1.4 million last month.

Most economists expected an addition of about 1.5 million. The range varied, but most analysts agreed in their projections that the pace of hiring would slow in July.

Just a couple of days ago, the leftwing media was crowing that Moody's Analytics estimated that a mere 167,000 jobs were added in July.

The U.S. economy added 167,000 workers during the month of July, ADP and Moody's Analytics said Wednesday in its monthly preview of the government jobs report.

Whoops!

Whoopsie!

Ooooh! Wildly underestimating the July job growth figures is TIGHT!

In Minneapolis the city council just got kicked in the cooter by the Charter Commission, because the city charter says they have to have police.

The person speaking for the Charter Commission was Hispanic, incidentally, which reinforces my theory that all this BLM stuff is mostly pissing off Hispanics.

That would've been my response too. I don't know what happened at this place. I know of another place that had Now Hiring signs out through June into mid-July; this place was also paying out bonuses to anyone who stayed on through August. People were getting enough money not to work so they didn't.

That extra unemployment money was galactically stupid and what's worse is that everyone paying attention said so before it was passed.

The left is destroying itself in an effort to destroy Trump because they haven't been able to destroy him themselves.

They know the economy was his greatest strength, so they did what they could to kill the economy. The problem is that it's screamingly obvious that it's not Trump's fault the economy went wrong. The Democrats themselves shut down state economies, and only now are Democrats realizing the implications of that.

At no point in the future will any political party make this decision again. It's going to go down in political history as one of the single dumbest political decisions by a political party ever.

286 For years I've heard rumors of "detention camps" being manufactured at Federal Expense in remote locations. *IF* any of those locations actually exist, I would propose the following by Trump: 1) Leading up to the fall elections "declare the riots" what they are. Violent Armed Insurrection in violation and opposition to Federal Authority. Declare Antifa and BLM "terrorist organizations". 2) Seize their assets and their money. (George Soros hurt hardest.) 3) Send in Federal Agents in surprize numbers at "mostly peaceful protests" arresting those involved in Antifa and BLM. Soros has already provided busses for their transportation to Federal Detention facilities. 4) Put Sheriff Arpaio in charge of the detention facilities. (Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!) 5) Charged with Felony crimes (treason, insurrection, resisting arrest, etc) their individual trials would take months....and remove them from the election process entirely. As detainees with charges pending, they don't get to vote. Individuals who get to trial may find long sentences. They don't get to intimidate the election process. They don't get to corrupt the mail in vote. Communities can start to rebuild. Jobs are created in business and criminal detention. The Left effectively LOSE their military wing in a conflict the rest of us aren't even fighting at least through the November election. Say we only actually arrest half in the first wave of arrests at protest sites. The other half will be turned into Federal Fugitives. Anarchy works multiple ways.

Here in CA, it is explicitly against the law to wear a mask if one has a CCW. However, it has been carefully explained that as long as there is no "intent to commit a crime" then, it's legal to wear a mask while armed.

Umm, if it's a crime to wear a face covering, while armed, then, by definition, one is intentionally committing a crime by wearing a face covering while armed.

I love how illegal is made legal through all of this hand waving.

It's almost like those in charge want to pick and chose how laws are enforced.

333 Harris is a disaster. Why did everyone forget this?

There were no good choices for president which means the VP choices are even worse. Especially when you narrow it down the way Joe did.

What an idiot.

Yep, and after Minneapolis tried to get money from the feds, and PDT said, "No," states are realizing there is no recourse.

Even better, with the SALT deduction being changed so blue states can no longer hide how much they tax people, they're really in a bind.

338 Literally the attorney general of Alabama saying you interpret the law the way you see fit:

"As numerous Attorney General’s Opinions have noted, ‘words used in a statute must be given their natural, plain, ordinary and commonly understood meaning,’” according to the statement from the attorney general’s office. “In this context, the commonly understood use of the term ‘being masked’ read in context with the rest of this law, would not include wearing medical masks that covers the nose and mouth. Just as statutory interpretation requires common sense, so does the enforcement of said statues.”"

339 I doubt the LIV's on the left even know who Rice is. She's not on TV much and isn't as outspoken as most of the other lefty women.

But, I guess she's as good as any of the other picks. I don't even care anymore.

342 This is good news, but of course the 100,000 additional suicides we'll have this year because of despair over losing jobs are still going to occur.

Hmmm, no HCQ allowed = 50 percent higher deaths

Destroy economy = 100,000 additional suicides

Destroy economy = 20,000 additional drug overdoses

Destroy economy = 3 million more divorces

How many ACTUAL deaths would there have been from CoVid-19 if we'd quarantined the elderly immediately, closed the borders, allowed HCQ to be used from the start, and allowed everyone to continue working in the greatest economy in 60 years?

20,000, tops.

Um, no.

What they mean is the teacher taught standard (bourgeois!) Spanish, not street talk --- like English, as opposed to e-bonics.

Rice nominates Hillary Clinton to be her VP, the Senate votes on (and approves) Hillary as VP, and then Rice dies unexpectedly of arsenic poisoning, three bullets in the back of her head and throwing herself off a tall building (i.e., suicide).
