I just came back from voting today in the sometimes great State of Michigan. The ladies at my polling place had clear face shields on, and one table had a plastic sheet in front of it. I made a crack about body suits next, and mentioned the punchline about sliding food under the door. There was one other person voting when I was there.
I was number forty-five, six hours in.
It was primary day here, and for me, there was only one contested race (it is mostly R here - some positions were not even contested by the Ds).
I carried a mask, but refused to actually put it on, going halfway and just holding it up to my face when necessary. I asked Mrs. DIG if looping my mask around my middle finger can be considered wearing it.

This is all true, as far as it goes.
Math is a branch of philosophy, wherein you work within an accepted set of rules to solve the proposed problem with numbers. If we were to stick with that definition, NBD. But, that definition is uselessly pedantic for everyone who doesn't give a fuck about advanced math (and that is almost everyone).
Like language, Math is a way we define and communicate the world around us. If we, willy-nilly, decide that word mean something other than what most of us think they mean, Language is useless. Just like if we decide that the values of 2 and 5 and the operation of + has a whole new definition, Math becomes nearly useless in the real world.
So, if you are trying to say "Math is a fun way to beat off while describing how smart I am in numbers", good job.
If you want to advance the idea of "Math is a very useful tool to describe the real world", you have really missed the mark.

Well, sure. It depends on the self-realized gender and racial identities of the two 2's If one of the 2's identifies as a female, it gets bumped-up to the value of 3. Same if one of the 2's identifies as a Numeral of Color.
The next logical step is to note the numerical/social additive value for each number in an equation. For example, a 2 that considers it self a lesbian would be noted as 2{1}. So, a cis-white male 2 added to a lesbian 2 would be 5. The equation is 2 + 2{1} = 5. Presto!

The fun part when I was reading up on Galileo is that eckshually his model was worse than Ptolemy's. Ptolemy had millennia of fine-tuning (the famous Hypatia added some tweaks) so was a decent approximation by the 1600s. It was better at calculating Mercury's orbit for instance.
Galileo supported his findings through the Stellar Parallax : arxiv.org/ftp/physics/papers/0612/0612086.pdf
But his numbers were shit. It took until the 1800s when Galileo would be proven despite him.
