Let's Take The Drooling, Groping Retard Seriously: What Is His Economic Plan For America, And Will It Work?

It's very easy for sentient beings to make fun of Gropin' Joe Biden, because his rapid descent into senility, coupled with his impressively unsuccessful legislative career, capped with a stint as a figure-head vice president makes him ripe for mockery.

But figurehead or not, his economic plan for America has to be taken seriously because he might be the next President of The United States of America. Yes, that is a terrifying thought, but the more we pull back the curtain on his crypto-socialism the better chance we have of ending the progressive dream of having two Democrat presidents in the first quarter of the century who are puppets; easily controlled by the power players in the shadows.

"Chicago Boyz" is always a good read, and this article is a particularly good one. The author manages to take Biden seriously, and looks at the broad strokes of his economic plan from the perspective of a classical economist.

And it's scary.

Is the Biden Economic Plan on the Right Track?

Biden's Plan is an Extortion Racket on the Left-Behind Track

Across time and space the evidence supports competitive market capitalism as the source of virtually all human economic progress. The Biden economic plan is essentially an extortion racket that fails to recognize its inherent limits, doubling down on the bad policies of the current Administration while eliminating the good, apparently because the Party's octogenarian leaders either never learned the limits or have lost control to the young radical left. This plan so far exceeds the limits that even partial success could easily lead to hyper-inflation.

There is a sense that America can always turns things around if it gets derailed but the progressive perspective dominates America's intellectual elite and media. Argentina was once on the capitalist fast track parallel to the U.S., but progressive President Juan Peron switched tracks in 1946, and Argentina has been left behind ever since.

Biden will use the immense power of the administrative state to reshape our economy along the lines of the Indian caste system, where economic advantage is conferred based on ethnic group. That in itself would be tremendously destructive; destroying economic incentives and creating a vast bureaucracy dedicated to racial and ethnic "equality." But his monetary policy and headlong rush to unionize pretty much everyone would be the death knell for American industrial and technological might.

Whether that would be the final nail in the destruction of American Exceptionalism, or would it be open borders? Who knows? But either one would be enough to end America's cultural, industrial, technological and social superiority. We would become just one of many struggling socialist nations, fighting for a slice of a shrinking pie.

Just think Venezuela with snow.

1. Open Borders.

2. $15 minimum wage.

3. Medicare for all.

4. "Assault rifle" ban and other assorted gun control stuff, like universal background checks, etc..

5. Citizenship for illegals which they did once before in the 80s.

6. Some sort of campaign finance reform that penalizes conservatives.

7. Tax increases out the wazoo.

8. Legislation to remove right to work State laws under the supremacy clause.

9. Federally funded abortions.

10. Medicare for illegals until they can shove the citizenship thing through.

56 The pie analogy is apt, CBD. Everybody loves pie and wants a piece. Which makes the pie smaller. In a capitalist system it makes sense for a pie maker to make more pie, because he is able to recoup the cost of ingredients, overhead and labor with a little lagniappe for himself to say thanks for making pie, good sir.

Reminds me of David Mamet's essay about who put the yoghurt in the refrigerator (chapter in The Secret Knowledge?). Because yoghurt always comes with berries, which make great pie (without the yoghurt of course) and everybody loves pie and wants a piece. Now even I want a piece of pie. With vanilla ice cream.

Obama was the end. Reprieve is the right word. We can't turn this around. I had a glimmer of a sliver of a hope Trump could do it, but we have seen from his administration that even the rarest of people - an honest politician - has no chance of reforming anything in this country.

63 If I was President Trump, I'd be launching an education reform push right now. Nothing could do more good for our future than breaking up the Teachers Unions control of K-12 education. Right now, with COVID-19 and an economic mess with millions out of work is the best time to sell my plan.

1. Abolish the public school system. Privatize all schools. Continue collecting taxes at the present level.

2. All parents given a voucher for every child, equal to what the present system spends on that child.

3. Parents may then spend that voucher on private schools, or home school and keep the entirety of it, and may continue to do so as long as their children pass. (Failure to pass means that they will be unable to homeschool and must use a private school).

Statistics clearly show that, controlled for all other factors, home schooled students vastly outperform both public and private students, and private students outperform public students.

We can give these advantages to everybody, without spending a single cent more. Further, the effect of the ability to make a second income just by educating your own children (in the 24-40k range for a family with 2 children, depending on district) will be a more than adequate replacement for many working-class and middle-class families second incomes.

As more families opt to homeschool, the labor force effectively shrinks, lowering unemployment and putting upward pressure on wages.

All of this, without spending a single cent more than we do, for an education system everyone agrees is hopelessly broken.

Of course, we'd need a Republican House to pass it.

74 Unfortunately it was the desire to be re-elected that caused Trump to allow the Covid stimulus and continued shut down of the country to continue. By vetoing the 4 trillion addition to our debt, it would have forced people to demand the country reopen ( if it wasn't over ridden) which never should have been closed in the first place.

Admittedly this may have prevented any chance at re-election but we will never know but we have and will feel the negative effect for years to come for not taking what I consider the proper action. But I'm just a middle class boob with an opinion like everyone else.

81 It's good to vote Trump in 2020. It buys us time. But that's all it does or can do. This can't be fixed by voting, and eventually Democrats will be elected again, and then the gloves come off. They don't plan to play around anymore, the next time they have power.

If you thought the midnight passage of O-Care was flagrant, wait til you see their Enabling Acts. And, I doubt they even need both houses for that... the GOP is desperate to eliminate the system of government that gave us Trump, too.

There's only one way to win by voting, and it's a slim hope.

It's to keep the Democrats out of power until the party's internal fault lines slip and tear them apart, and do all we can to increase the tension on their side to speed up the process.

We can still win by default. You don't have to outrun the other guy if he doesn't make it to the finish line.

Yep, it's no longer about spending, deficits or the National debt. We are never go to make any serious effort to pay the debt, nor can we realistically address out of control spending. At this point only one of two outcomes are possible:

1. Inflation catches up with spending and the economy crashes after a period of hyper inflation and it's pretty much over for a good 10-15 years until we can put the pieces back together. See Venezuela.

2. The US defaults on it's debt which starts a cascading effect around the World of other Countries following suit. A short severe depression follows as everyone adjusts to new circumstances.

Something has to give.

All socialism devolves to the Stalinist type. It's only a matter of time.

The core theories that underpin the system are fatally flawed, and can introduce only failure. As long as the socialist party retains control, the only solution to those failures is more socialism.

If you're in a "social democracy" or "democratic socialism" system, this is the point when the democracy becomes inconvenient to the socialists. The people reject the failures and want to move away from socialism. The result is always that democracy is abandoned, and you get another Venezuela.

102 Consider this:

The various states' governors are basing their COVID policy on experts' computer modeling. For example, 100% mask compliance, the virus is gone by the end of the year, 0% compliance we're all dead by Groundhog Day 2012. So 60% compliance will be somewhere in between, right? But they don't have data built into the model for 60% half-assed mask compliance, (or weather or mutations of the virus or so on and so on). So the modeling is just a sad caricature of the real world, an imagining of sorts.

My point?

These are the same people who think they can predict what the fundamental transformation of America will look like. They may be ignoring some important variables.

Agreed. I have to conclude liberals are fundamentally not too bright: they think they can change something, but everything else will remain the same. They think instituting a 10% tax on a $1 billion cash flow will net them $100 million. See, e.g., California's tax on legal marijuana.

The blacks have a similar problem, here and in Africa. Despite any and all evidence to the contrary, they think that if they run things, everything will be the same, except that they will be in charge of the economic dynamo. See, e.g., Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Last, they fail to recognize that anything can happen anywhere. There's nothing magical about American soil; the magical thing here is the American people, and the system of government we inherited.

My wife and I have discussed this previously. I think it is entirely possible.

I use my usual tool: assume the result, and work backwards on how the result came to be.

In this case, it's easy. The Democrat Party comprises a whole bunch of groups that are mutually antithetical and just held together by bailing wire, chewing gum, duct tape, and the promise of goodies in the future.

If the prospect of future goodies dims, and/or if some constituencies decide that they're not getting their "fair share," the Democrat Party will shatter like the break on a billiards table.

If Democrats are so all powerful how come Trump won? How come we have the Senate?

We are bombarded 7 x 24 with a media that for all intents is the PR organ of the left. All they do is dial up to eleventy any issue on the right while pretending riots aren't happening in Democrat cities across the country calling them "peaceful protests".

Everyone knows this is a lie but still she persisted. Imagine you are a Democrat small business owner in Portland or Minneapolis or NYC, are you happy with what your Democrat politicians are doing? What happens when the party is over and those places are left with billions in damages and a demoralized and depleted police force?

Karen Bass was on Slow Joe's shortlist for VP. And then it was revealed that she is a big supporter of Castro's Cuba and sent condolences to him and his supporters over his death. How well do you think that is going to play in Florida where Latinos hate Castro and communist with a passion?

If Democrats are so oh my God powerful why are they running a dementia patient who won't leave his basement for president in one of the more consequential presidencies in decades?

I have an idea, inspired by the "free cities" and charters of the middle ages.

Instead of allowing blue states to secede, since there are no truly blue states (it's all blue cities and red everything else), reclassify the failed blue hives as territorial possessions. They may have their own government, which may not extend beyond city limits, and no longer pay Federal or State taxes, but no longer have representation in State or Federal legislatures, nor any ability to benefit from Federal or State government programs.

Those who want to be left alone, rule over no one and do what they please that hurts no one else are conservatives.

No guarantees of course but the idea that leftist are destined to rule America is far from certain.

An excellent approach. Once again, too many people subscribe to the fallacy of thinking that you can change one thing, and not change others.

In this case, the fallacy takes the form of thinking Medicare will simply be expanded to everyone. No problem.

But as you astutely point out, it won't be Medicare any more; it'll be Medicare's poor relation, Medicaid. It has to be, just on financial grounds.

from their inventiveness. Take that away and current Venezuelan model
quickly follows" Posted by: Great Reagan's Deplorable Ghost

Liz "you didn't build that" Warren said she might allow us to keep a little of the profits as incentive, so we got THAT going for us.

Government and (mostly) Wall Street leveraged gamblers take most of the profit from the real idea people. Capitalism is supposed to finance idea people, so their ideas can take off ... banking and currency (money) enabled debt, and that can be good (but some religions are against debt, since it can be a form of slavery, done incorrectly) ...

Capitalism is not the same as global corporatism ... and government enabled plandemic has crushed small business, while boosting corporate BigBoxStore and online (leftist run) FANGS.

The inventiveness of the average citizen is a separate realm from the Gates/Fauci types that want to run the world via cancel culture. They don't want a cheaper/better mousetrap (e.g. HCQ), they want an expensive drug/vaccine ... which might also control the population, and they want to use BigBrotherGov to stop the cheap competition, and force their (unhealthy?) product.

WokeCorp that is not making products (digital or physical), is in Finance, putting blue collar America in debt to buy WokeCorp products, while deciding to knee cap gun makers, or other Non-Woke citizens. We will need a strong government to combat WokeFinance, WokeCorp, WokeJournalism ... and WokeSkools .... long road ahead.

What makes you think that they will resist other forms of tyranny?

This Wuhan virus IS a great psy-op. Proved that most of the First World just wants be told what to do by their super-smart Betters.

Chickens are coming home to roost in California.

The Employment Development Department is the state's Obamacare.

Up to 4 months behind on cutting your first unemployment check. A circumlocution of emails and phone numbers. Calls time out. Personnel literally say "We're too busy right now" and hang up. For calls that have to be returned, they are admitting to call-back times of 4 to 6 weeks. Yes, they give you a number to call, you call and leave a message, they get back to you 6 WEEKS later. That's what they're admitting to, so it probably gets worse. The technology, Governor Newsom drolly declares, is "cutting-edge 1970s." Isn't he droll?

So bad that hard lefties in the Cali legislature grilled the department last week. Of course it was in self-interest -- how could you leave us hanging out to dry like this in front of our constituents -- but at least two lefty t.v. stations played it up. The state is a fuckup.

This is decades of civil service underwork and overpay, race-based hiring practices, dumbed-down education, and general lowering of standards. I can't prove any of that with numbers, but you know that's what it is.
