Why does so much of progressivism seem to involve the glorification of the ugly, the perverse, and the pathological? Seriously, who designed that hologram? Who made the final decision that yes, this is the image we want people to see? It looks absolutely hideous. It will most likely frighten small children. Second, why are we glorifying a career criminal? Why are we memorialzing his "legacy"? Floyd was a psychopathic thug and his only "legacy" was a string of drug and armed robbery convictions. He once held a gun up against the stomach of a pregnant woman. This is the guy the progressives want as a civil rights hero? Oh, and as an addded insult to normal sensibilities, the text accompanying the hologram is done up using a font in the style of "gangsta" graffiti of the sort that defaces public spaces all across the country. So it exalts and glorifies criminality. Third, the traveling exhibit seems to assume that the death of George Floyd was motivated by racial hatred. But there is absolutely no evidence to support this, and some that suggests otherwise, that Floyd was previously known to the officers and there was bad blood between them. But all that has been drowned out by the rioting and the looting. Fourth, if systemic racism is as prevalent in this country as the progressives claim, then why can't they use an actual victim for lessons like this? With all of the white supremacists around every corner and hiding under every bed, you'd think they'd be able to come up with *one* example. But no, all I ever see are fake hate crimes and dead thugs who are dead because of their thuggery, not because they're innocents shot by racist cops. I have no objection to a travelling anti-racism exhibit. But is it too much to ask to just pick somebody else? Lastly, this exhibit will be touring Confederate monument sites throughout the South. The idea, according to CNN, is to "convert spaces normally occupied by racist symbols". OK, but consider this: those statues and monuments were carved back when the values that art emphasized were beauty, grandeur, and nobility. Say what you will about the values and opinions held by the men commemorated by those monuments or the cause they fought for, those statues look beautiful and even glorious. By superimposing a hologram of a criminal thug garlanded with gangsta graffiti, who spent most of his adult life stealing from people and hurting them, you're inviting the audience to make a comparison. Do you really want to do this? But that turned out to be serendipitous because her daughter, Tahnee Welch, had a part in the movie the 'who dis' people shared. So it's all connected, I guess. The hottie, Linda Harrison, is best known for role as Nova alongside Charlton Heston in 'Planet of the Apes' movies. She got the job because she slept with the producer -- Richard Zanuck, who was her husband at the time. She was in a supporting role in Cocoon, and also the sequel along with Brian Dennehy, and actor with talent of geographic proportions.

That individual claiming to be a woman is something like 6'3'' and weighs 230 pounds. He claims to be disabled (the evil cops separated him from this "therapy" dog, but his disability doesn't stop him from skating in Portland's local women's roller derby.

I just finished watching The Big Combo from '55 with her and Cornel -- I thought she was familiar. They were married at the time.
A good noir flick it is, with Lee Van Cleef of Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and Earl Holliman of Police Woman as Richard Conte's hitmen. There's a subtle hint that the two gunmen are gay, but they are not effeminate or comic, and scary as hell.

Just got my new Blu-Ray of that yesterday.
I'm a bit disappointed. It's from this new label that apparently has problems.
The video and audio are fine, but my UHD player can't play it, so I had to use my PS4, and the subtitles aren't just of the dialogue but of the sounds too like, "Panting" and "Breathing heavily", which you do for the subtitles on hearing impaired tracks not foreign language tracks.
Still, I have it in HD now. So, that's a step better than my previous DVD that I sold for the same price that I bought the Blu-ray for.

I have a restraining order against an ex who has tormented me and made my life hell. I got a restraining order against him a couple years ago and he was arrested for violating it several times in the first 6 months. The police response to my calls was swift and he was arrested within maybe 30 minutes of the calls.
On Wednesday he resurfaced and violated the R.O.. I called 911 (PPD) and reported the crime. No police response for three hours so I tried calling the nonemergency line to see if anyone would respond to at least take a police report but hung up after being on hold for over an hour.
I now live in complete fear of leaving my house because he knows the police are not going to do anything.
Is this what our town has come to? Is my only option to move?
She got a response from a 911 dispatcher:
I didn't work Wednesday so I'm not sure what the response times were looking like that night in particular, but your story doesn't at all suprise me. Response times always suffer during the summer months, but this years been especially bad. Between covid induced staffing issues, an abnormally large spike in violent crimes, and the justice center sucking up resources, its gotten really bad this year. Particularly between like rush hour to around 11 pm.
It's become pretty common for non emergency stuff that comes in during those times to hold for several hours. A restraining order violation where the suspect has been gone for more than 10 minutes with no specific indication that they're imminently going to return gets queued with the non emergencies.

You talking new trucks, or older models? Personally, I would avoid the Diesel in any newer rig. Higher cost to buy, much more expensive service, and the new ones use that stupid monkey piss to make their tailpipes not blow soot. Which you must buy.
Only justification for a Diesel anymore is a dedicated tow rig.

At least in my neck of the woods the dogs of the homeless usually wind up in a shelter. Either they or the "owner" often wander off at some point. No problemo, they can snatch another one out of a yard or car.
Problem in my neck of the woods is most of the homeless insist on pit bulls. I wonder how the hell they manage to feed them. I have considered a rescue dog, but here you've got your choice of 2 dog breeds, a pit bull that needs to be deprogrammed from attacking anything that moves, or a crappy little chihuahua that attacks anything that moves.

I have a 14 Chevy 1500 4wd CC standard bed. 5.3L gas. Just rolled 58k miles. This has been a great truck with minor annoyances.
This was the first year of that model's iteration. With that said, I would never buy a 1st year of a model change. The radio doesn't integrate with android phones well at all. This was fixed in the 2015 and later models. Also, I want to upgrade my mirrors to tow mirrors. The 2014 models need an extra wiring harness that 2015 and beyond don't. It is this kind of crap that does irritate me.
Another annoyance is throttle delay. I think this goes back to GM's torque management system. If I put the throttle to the floor, it is usually because I need to move NOW. There is a good 2-3 second delay before the engine goes, and downshifts to low gear.

My FIL bought a Sierra in 2007 brand new. Called it the greatest truck ever.
It was a POS. Fuel saving option used spring lifters, which would fail either causing a miss or eat the camshaft, depending on how it failed. I had to change one of them, which meant pulling the head off on one side and replacing $300 worth of gaskets.
Each lifter is $35.
The stereo amp took a shit and the only speakers that worked were the tweeters in the a pillar, so unlistenable.
It finally blew up a couple weeks ago, after putting another $800 in the engine and $1200 in a trans rebuild.
He did manage to put 330k miles on it, but I rule it a steaming pile of dick fat.

My FIL bought a Sierra in 2007 brand new. Called it the greatest truck ever.
It was a POS. Fuel saving option used spring lifters, which would fail either causing a miss or eat the camshaft, depending on how it failed. I had to change one of them, which meant pulling the head off on one side and replacing $300 worth of gaskets.
Each lifter is $35.
The stereo amp took a shit and the only speakers that worked were the tweeters in the a pillar, so unlistenable.
It finally blew up a couple weeks ago, after putting another $800 in the engine and $1200 in a trans rebuild.
He did manage to put 330k miles on it, but I rule it a steaming pile of dick fat.

The mix in our city pound is the same but, surprisingly, they do occasionally get some other breeds too. We got a pure bred Great Pyrenees from there back in December.
What I did was just daily go through the pound's online posts of found dogs that were on hold for a number of days to give their owners time to reclaim them. If your local pound has an online resource like that, you can call about any dog you would be interested in adopting so that your name is first on their list.

I have considered a rescue dog, but here you've got
your choice of 2 dog breeds, a pit bull that needs to be deprogrammed
from attacking anything that moves, or a crappy little chihuahua that
attacks anything that moves.
Try petfinder.com. It is a listing of local rescues and the animals they have available. That's where I got my first cat Penny, who was... kind of a perfect cat.

They keep saying pro life people are hypocritical on masks because suddenly they're all "my body my choice".
The problem with that bullshit is that pro life people are not the ones who framed the abortion issue as being about what one is allowed to do with one's body!! It's about the taking of an innocent life.
I know I'm not supposed to hate but I fucking hate them so much. All of them. Except Karen Gillan who I will make an exception for.

That big hologram reminds me of the story my Father told me when he was in the Army stationed in Germany and took a train to West Berlin. It was at night and the train had all the windows shuttered (probably an agreement, etc.). My Father said he snuck a peek thru one and on a hillside was a huge billboard of Stalin's mug with lights blazing so you could clearly see it in the night.
We ain't to far from that kind of cultish country.
