"Primary Subsource" for Steele Dossier and Convicted Public Drunkard Danchenko Got His "Rumors" About Trump from His.... Drinking Buddies

The FBI didn't ask if he had gotten sober, as a court directed him to do, before concocting his Trump Tales.

It does not appear the FBI asked Danchenko about his criminal past or state of sobriety when agents interviewed him in January 2017 in a failed attempt to verify the accuracy of the dossier...

A newly declassified FBI summary of the FBI-Danchenko meeting reveals agents learned that key allegations in the dossier, which claimed Trump engaged in a "well-developed conspiracy of cooperation" with the Kremlin against Clinton, were largely inspired by gossip and bar talk among Danchenko and his drinking buddies, most of whom were childhood friends from Russia.

...

In the memo, the FBI notes that Danchenko said that he and one of his dossier sources "drink heavily together." But there is no apparent indication the FBI followed up by asking Danchenko if he had an alcohol problem, which would cast further doubt on his reliability as a source for one of the most important and sensitive investigations in FBI history.

The FBI declined comment. Attempts to reach Danchenko by both email and phone were unsuccessful.

Who knew that you could research the links between the Kremlin and a New York real estate magnate just by going to the local dive bar you always go to?

Who knew that a convicted sloppy drunk's and likely hardcore alcoholic's preferred booze shooting gallery just happened to also be a hang-out for International Contacts with Deep Ties to the Kremlin and as many Free Peanuts as You Can Eat?

This guy was repeatedly prosecuted for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, and ordered to seek both sobriety and mental health counseling, and the FBI didn't think it should be noted that his "Trump rumors" came from his alcoholic Russian dregs.

I'm so sick of calling Steele's bullshit oppo file a "dossier," investing it with an internationale kind of prestige to which it is most definitely not entitled.

Steele is a joke. Always was, always will be. The people who created the narrative only needed the Steele story to hold together as long as it did.

As it's fallen apart, as much as the left has handcuffed Trump for more than 3 years, and his re-election still hangs in the balance, we don't yet know if in the end worked or not.

36 I have a serious problem with all of this. Not the lies and the coup, that is a different issue. But the notion of a "subsource" and vicarious credibility.

Steele was "reliable" and credible. But Steele's sources weren't, and they weren't supposed to inherit his credibility. These people should have been investigated and their credibility determined independently *at the time.* Steele can't just vouch for them and report on it. That isn't allowed. Yet it appears to have happened a tremendous amount until very late in the overall process.

Credibility is a concern between the individual and the agency. My credibility with the agency does not extend to people I know who tell me things. It is not vicarious. Unless, apparently, it is convenient to extend vicarious credibility.

Fucking weasels. Miserable, railroading, criminal weasels.

He thought it would cost him the election because he wouldn't rein in the violence or that people would associate the lack of policing with PDT. Told him no, that most people, the sane ones would see the progs and the far left as the instigators and enablers and apologists. It would hurt Biden and the dems. Hope I'm correct.

It goes way back in the racist Republican party after The Great Swap back in the 70's. Everyone was there when George W. Bush told his cabinet "Fuck em. They're black." when asked about New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Everyone knows Reagan ignored the AIDS epidemic because he hoped it would only affect the black community. It's in his library.

Anything they want, when they're not ignoring you. And they usually ignore you. But the real problem is that they ignore you only because what they did to Trump is still relatively difficult. It is increasingly easy.

In a proper system, a crime is investigated to find a man, who is then prosecuted. In a corrupt system, a man is investigated to find a crime, and then he is prosecuted. It is increasingly easy to do that, and increasingly acceptable. And they *will* find something if they look hard enough.

In the future, the FBI will keep ignoring you until your raise someone's ire. As these capabilities filter down to your local PD, it will be true there too - but the raising of ire is much easier. I reckon that this will go in such a way that if you're compliant, you'll be fine. But if you step out of line, you'll get the Trump Treatment - only it will be much easier to accomplish. And that is the terror they will wield. Make them mad or say the wrong thing and they'll dredge up some technical crime you committed and throw the book at you, railroad you, spin lies where needed, and end you.

Please do not confuse a "pub" with a Russian Mafia sleaze bar.
A pub is a fine place for like-minded people of good repute to gather over a pint of ale (preferably Guinness, but a Harp or a Speckled Hen will do in a pinch), witty repartee and the occasional song.
A Russian Mafia sleaze bar is where you get outrageously false stories of world-renowned multi-billionaires hiring hookers to pee on beds.

Maybe. But not if it doesn't become the norm in public. Most people won't notice until it hits them, and it won't hit most people because most people will just shut up and do what they're told.

By the time enough people get hit by these tactics that people start to understand that this is how things work (their families talk to their friends, they have an uncle or something get railroaded, etc.), it's institutionalized and unstoppable outside of open war.

My mother drank Canadian whisky usually, never Scotch. She said it tasted like iodine. She was a young adult during the WWII years, so she might have gotten some "Scotch" that had iodine for color . . . or she might have been remembering the scene in Mister Roberts where Ensign Pulver and the doctor are trying to concoct some Scotch out of medicinal alcohol with some iodine to give it the right look.

Traditionally yes. But even that seems to be changing. I was in the weeds in a late night ont discussion about Bourbon oddities and I questioned some of the stuff they are doing now. After a decent about of research, much of it boring, there are exceptions to Bourbon too it seems. There is this new thing called blended Bourbon at it seems they can put in grain neutral spirits, aka vodka in sizeable amounts. I still haven't found one of these Bourbons but the rules seem to allow it.

Not long ago, even the cheep stuff like Old Crow had to follow specific standards that most people know. Now with Blended Bourbon, you can not only add flavoring, but vodka. Again, I still can't find a readily available product that does this, so it might just be academic at this point.

There are tons of blended whiskies from the USA, Canada, and of course Scotland that allow this. But I was surprised to find they can do this with Bourbon now.

The peat is like this because it comes from bogs near the sea and is infused with a lot of salt air and spray. This gives it a much stronger peaty flavor. A lot of the Lowland and Speyside scotches are use this. Highland scotches use peat taken from cleaner, less marshy bogs.

It also depends on which one. The older versions (the 18 or the 21, for example) are less intense than the younger (like the 14). Sadly, they're also very expensive. The quarter cask is so peaty not even I can drink it, and I like peaty scotches. It is really easy to take too far, and Laphroig often does. Their good ones, though, are *really* good.

it is a symbiotic relationship. The Scotch gets some flavor from the Bourbon barrels, the Scots have a ready source of barrels, and a used barrel is better for the long slow aging much Scotch Single Malts get.

These to industries really show how capitalism should work. You wouldn't want Scotch from new American charred oak. But the Bourbon sellers can charge a bit less for their product as they know they will get something back from those new charred oak barrels they had to purchase for their booze.

If I recall correctly, Maker's doesn't use Rye at all. They use wheat in place of rye and that adds to the smoothness for lack of a better word. You were probably thinking of Wild Turkey, Four Roses or some brand like that.. The Bourbon makers do have different mash bills and it does make a difference. They add the right about of malt, Rye, and sometimes wheat to make their recipe right.

Louisiana led the way with drive through Daiquiri Shops. The Daiquiri Factory in Lake Charles made a fortune before they had the closed container laws. Of course they just started tapping down the plastic lids. I think eventually they closed that loop hole. Is that correct?

Dunno about the rest of the state, but I've taken Linda now and then to pick up a daiquiri at one of the shops in the city itself or the near suburbs. They tap a plastic lid on the drink, no more a "seal" than is the lid on a soft drink, and off you go.

I presume that if a cop stops you for something else and you have the thing open, you're fooked, but driving with the thing closed in your car is not illegal that I know of.

But I was surprised to find they can do this with Bourbon now.

they bragged at the distillery about the triple process.

Once you go through about 4 places, you get an idea of what the schpiel will be:

craft
tradition
heritage
special blend of ingredients
time in barrel

but with woodford, and four roses, they also talk about distilling process...things that beam and makers don't bother discussing.

and my last tour was wild turkey when I asked how many times they distilled...it was once. The result is fruitier because they don't strip all the ingredients out from the liquior.

yeah, even regular Bourbon I believe. It is this term "blended Bourbon" that is new to me. Some small craft distilleries, aka, newbs, are blending straight Bourbons and they have to call it blended. It is much like Blended Malt Scotch I guess. But supposedly they can also label something a Blended Bourbon, and as long as it is 51 percent Straight Bourbon, they can add flavorings or neutral grain spirits. I was surprised by this as i would have thought the Bourbon people would have squashed it. But again, I still can't find anyone who has done this other than a boutique place.

I know in the other extreme someone in Scotland might sell a single malt scotch but at 1 percent grain just to get past some tariffs or some other regulation. That is done with everyone understanding the game though.

357 And despite all of this, nevertrump will still say "colluded with russians!!!"
Posted by: Cat Ass Trophy at July 27, 2020 05:22 PM (Ycvf2)

It's been repeated enough, without sufficient push-back, that the lie has become true.

Here's what I've learned, in my study of conservatives. Conservatives place great store in absolutism - the notion that rules mean what they say, black is black, white is white, and these things are true in and of themselves.

That's bullshit. Black is whatever shade a sufficiently large mass of people say it is. White may not even be it's opposite - depending on the mob's opinion. And having the scientific definition hidden in secret doesn't change that - or make the holder any more "correct", in any manner that matters in day to day existence.

Trump colluded with Russia - and it's in the public consciousness to stay. Why ? Not because he did it - he didn't. But because the lie was repeated long enough without sufficient simple and effective pushback to convince the mushy masses in the middle otherwise.

The lie has become true.

350 >>> I am not a scotch connoisseur, but I do like peaty scotches. I went to a bar once where they pride themselves on their selection and expertise in scotch. The scotch guy came to ask if we knew what we wanted or to offer advice. I said, "I want to drink something that feels like Mike Tyson wrapped his gloves in peat and then punched me - gently - in mouth."

He laughed his ass off and brought be a Laphroaig 18. It has been a favorite of mine since.

it is nice stuff. The super Famous Pappy Van Winkle is also wheated and uses no rye. Most Bourbons use rye of course. If you can fine Weller, it is a wheated Bourbon too. There are some others out there. I think Blenheim is one but I haven't had that one.
