Uh-oh: Rumors Intensify That Justice Alito Is Retiring

I have little faith our Republican "leaders" will have the courage to vote a conservative on to the court.

Hell, they're so busy trying to placate Black Lives Matter, they'll probably ask Trump to nominate Ice Cube.

BTW, apparently the breaking point for the mayor (aside from 2 teenagers being shot by Choppers the other night) was when the protesters showed up at her house. It was ok for them to move in on citizens and take over their neighborhood, but not hers by golly!

A lot of conservatives had high hopes for John Roberts.

Even the "moderate" Justice Kennedy was surprised by him in the end.

I don't blame Alito for wanting out. It's turning into a nightmare.
Clarence Thomas is getting old, too.
I actually think RBG is dead or comatose, and one of her clerks is writing her opinions and voting for her, and Roberts likely knows this.
Perhaps Alito knows it too, and will speak out if he retires, about what a farce this has all become.

Think, if the idiot Biden gets elected, then Biden (heh) will likely get to replace at least 3, and maybe four justices. Maybe even 5, if Sotomayor kicks off too. She is in bad health.
Biden replaces
Alito, who is talking about retiring
RGB, who is likely already comatose somewhere
Breyer, who is old (in his mid-80's) and likely to retire
Clarence Thomas, who may have failing health problems too, as he is up in his seventies now. Who knows what the next five years will bring?
And Sotomayor, who is a diabetic and frankly not in good health (and she's pretty stupid, too).

Sure we give you plebes nothing of substance legislatively but hey at least we are getting judges confirmed, please donate so we can fight the Democrats, waka waka citizen.

It doesn't matter if we fill up every slot below the SCOTUS level, it simply doesn't matter.

5 Democrat apparatchiks masquerading as judges call the shots.

And as we have seen there is a two tiered selection process for SCOTUS judges, the Democrats get to nominate and confirm ACLU lawyers and former Obama officials, the GOP gets to nominate cyphers with very thin paper trails and histories.

And this is how the Democrats have a 100pct success rate with their nominees and the GOP at best has 50 pct success rate.

The story is still out on Kavenaugh and Gorsuch, but they seem squsihy, certainly not in the same orbit as Alito and Thomas.

Bottom line is we are screwed if Alito retires because we are not guaranteed to get a conservative to replace him, even if Trump ends up replacing him.

156 As a practical matter, Collins wouldn't vote for anyone good in view of her election, and Murkowski is probably a solid "no" regardless of the nominee. It's also the perfect opportunity for Willard to Granstand about unity by giving the Democrats the seat.

So if he retires now, anyone who could get confirmed would be awful, while anyone good would fail and risk leaving the seat open into the next Administration - and of course Democrats would insist that this occur the moment Alito makes his announcement.

What do you suppose will happen when Trump asks him why he lied about being involved with the Flynn investigation? About taking $1.5 billion from China? Hitting Biden on his crimes won't move the needle. Those are resume-enhancers. He needs to just hit him over and over and over about being a senile, dying man with a radical Leftist maniac waiting to replace him when his clock runs out, which will be soon.

283 Some girl I know on Facebook once talked about how, while she had never read any of Obama's scholarship, she was sure it was as erudite and wonderfully written as his books. She meant it fully, without, apparently, realizing that his books are pretty poorly written.
______________

His books are not scholarship. One (Dreams) is a memoir (or a pseudo-memoir, since he has admitted that many of the characters are "composite" and some of the events are fictional), and the other (Audacity) is mainly just a collection of his stupid political speeches, most of which were not even written by him (much like the book itself).

But she is right that she hasn't read his scholarship, because there isn't any to read. He has never published any scholarship. That's why it's ludicrous to refer to him as a scholar.

Here it is: I was successful in killing my dept's woke statement on recent social unrest. This took several weeks and may have permanently burned some bridges, but I think it's important. It is a toxic ideology that cannot be given an inch. Here are the lessons I learned.

11:12 PM
Jun 30, 2020

[ ... ]

If you have enough nonwoke people in your dept your questions will be well-received and claims like "everyone in the dept is racist" will be seen as absurd, as they should be. Appeal to the concept of treating everyone equally. This is the foundation of academia, and is in danger.

The success of this tact really depends on how many wokinistas you have. If you are outnumbered, I can't help you. No one can. Get out now. For the rest of you, fight back. Intelligently.

long ago there was some evaluation of Barry's earlier writing (including a letter to some Asian on discrimination, iirc) that showed Barry had no competence to suddenly transform into the writer of his two autobiographies ... which under further analysis, did seem to fit the writings of Bill Ayers.

It is properly assumed Ayers wrote it, and fabricated a character that was a composite (like his fake girlfriend) .. a composite of fact and fiction. The perfect Soviet man ... perhaps.

Not new- it has been around for a while. You need to contact your friend ASAP and let them know they have been hacked, so that they can let their other friends know and change their email account(s). If you got the email, other people in their contact list also got it. Don't contact them via that email address since it is still under a hacker's control- either call or text them.

This happened to my friends and, before they knew that they had been hacked, the email had been sent to their entire address book. Some of their friends had already bought the gift cards and sent them to the address included in the email. I also got it and, since I have professional experience handling email fraud, I knew it was fake and contacted them immediately.
