Sure, yes, July typically the month where we have doctors that graduate medical schools enter residency. Sometimes we tend to see increase in the rate of medical errors and deaths. Um, that's just something that's, um, you know, well known in the medical field.

Ah, So, that just goes to show you we have the burgeoning of this virus with new doctors on board, of course they are being supervised...

I hate this bullshit meme. It is usually posted on FB by a nurse practitioner who got her DNP entirely online and had a whopping 600 hours of "clinic" time before graduating and demanding full respect and privileges of a physician who has a decade of training and 15-20000 hours caring for patients under supervision. Yes the interns have just graduated medical school. With 4 years and a few thousand hours of in person classroom and bedside patient care more than the NP who wants to shit on him. And in 4 years, that intern will graduate residency as a practicing physician and still feel like he doesn't know enough to be on his own cleaning up the messes left by an NP with 1/10 of the training and 1000% of the hubris.

For many years in England, it was illegal to marry your dead wife's sister. A bill to permit the marriage was consistently raised in Parliament, as it would help aristocrats keep wealth in the family, but the House of Commons just as consistently defeated it.

The bill finally passed at some point either in the late 1890s or early in the reign of Edward VII.

I love the jump from "this is a burden on the doc" to, "thus, it's a burden on the woman".

Apparently getting admitting privileges is difficult?

Would you go to the clinic of a doctor who didn't have those privileges?

"Hey Doc, I've got this thing I need you to look at."

"Um, yeah, this is really serious, we need to get you to the hospital right now - but you'll have to take yourself and go to the ER, I can't get you in there."

337 317. In my opinion, no, it is not both. But you are free to draw your own conclusion.

There were conservatives warning of Roberts when he was nominated, specifically when he was nominated to be Chief. He also barely filled out a card to join the FedSoc, and openly derided the message. While the FedSoc is not what we hoped, that was also a warning sign. It seems to be Roberts politics and judicial philosophy is left of center. I am not sure how one draw any other conclusion, but to each their own.

I disagree with this assessment. Roberts isn't "coming out of the closet" he's just desperate to avoid any Roe v. Wade type decisions. Hence why he finds whatever is the reasoning with the least amount of judicial impact. Obamacare? He used the tax argument to avoid the issue of its constitutionality. Census and DACA? APA violations, which dodges the broader constitutional issues. He's not a leftist, he's just a distilled example of the failure of the political class to display any courage over the past thirty years.

Which brings up another question never addressed in legend. How does a baby centaur suckle? When very small, he uses the horse glands, and then when he's a bit older . . .? But if he's tall enough to reach Mom's milk when he's standing, he might be too old to be doing that. Hmmm.

I may give it another shot if I can stay awake cuz the commercials for the later episodes make it look interesting.

Posted by: naturalfake at June 29, 2020 10:15 AM (7hCBA)

****************

Second moron synchronicity of the weekend!
After posts on here this weekend about Neal Stephenson books the same week as I start re-reading one, I tried giving the first season of Dark a go just last night.

I'm afraid I bailed on the third episode.

I started watching the the first episode on the dubbed version but it was terrible. The dubbing I mean.

You could see the actors emoting like buggery to, say, the news of a missing kid only to hear some flat montone voice actor say "Oh No" with all the emotion of him realising he'd dropped some crumbs from a cake into his lap.

So I switched to subtitles.

Unfashionably, I'm not big on subtitles because no matter how fast you can read them I think it still really takes away from the visual experience of a movie or show.
But I persevered reckoning it would be better than the dubbing.

And it was. Much better. Even with its limitations.

So another two episodes on this and I have to say it's very good but.....well it's just a bit too German.

Far too much Sturm und Drang. I felt like I was immersed in a Rammstein video but without the envigorating power metal and sexy Snow Whites.

I just wasn't in the mood, I guess.
Christ knows I'm not wanting fluffy bunnies and rainbows but, honestly It was getting me down. And the rain, the constant pouring rain.
Yes, I know that it's a deliberate theme - there's a clue in the title - but I live in Ulster, if I want to see incessant downpours under dank charcoal lowering skies I can look out the window.

I'll probably give it a second chance when I'm in a better twist as the story was getting very intriguing.

I tend to agree. It looks now like +80% are immune (will get but no or very mild symps) due to previous contact with a coronavirus. Those that aren't immune haven't had that contact. The ones that die do so from a cytokine storm caused by a FUBAR'd reaction by T cells.

I'm thinking that the central issue is we don't knkw much about flu in general. And this is our first global hard core focus on the phenomenon. This could turn out to be how every flu works.

390 Many doctors don't have admitting privileges. They literally call 911 if they think a patient needs to be in hospital. That sends them through ER doc who then works with hospitalist on admission.

I only know this because that's the route we have to follow every f-ing time for getting my 99 (now) yr old mom admitted. It's a fight. Typically I have to brush up on the ailment's med journal lit then fight with the hospitalist. We've even had ER docs tell us, "It's not enough" which means she ALSO needs chest pains, which are easy to develop. You know what else is hard to get? Blood. You have to fight for blood.

It's all about insurance coding.

Comrades!

It is a travesty and an inexcusable offense against women's rights to require a doctor for such a procedure! For thousands of years, revered elder midwives looked after the women's health and reproductive rights of their communities, using knowledge handed down by their foremothers!

This patriarchal system that oppresses women and denies them their agency is in place to exercise yet another aspect of male dominance of female reproductive rights! This talk of 'admitting privileges' and 'sterility' and 'medical training' are smokescreens, designed to shame those who would aid women in taking control of their bodies and placing bureaucratic restrictions on potential allies to dissuade them!

455 Levitt is infuriated. He's a super calm and relaxed guy. I could never have imagined him ranting. And it's not personal, he doesn't gaf about criticism.

The beginning is where he states the truth: scientists went hysterical and lied to everyone because they were afraid that the rubes would infect them.

The big brains got the BIG FEAR despite those IQs and went nuts.

Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury made the comments Friday on BBC Radio 4 when asked what he thought of the western image of Jesus and if it should be "re-imagined."

"Yes, of course it does," Welby responded, going on to note how he has seen Jesus portrayed in different countries during his travels.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Dozens of people took part Sunday in a "White Silence is Violence" march for racial equality hosted by Indiana Racial Justice Alliance and partner organization Allies For Action.

The march called on white allies to use their privilege to stand up for change and support the Black community's fight for equality.

"It's uncomfortable, it's hard," said Mary T. "Somebody gave a quote to me that I felt was really great: 'To some giving up privilege feels like oppression,' but it's not. We're just trying to level the playing field."

The drinking age limit around here has always been honored more in the breach than in the observance. By the time I had money to spend on booze, I was old enough to brazen my way through the checkout line at the grocery, or walk into a strip bar. 526 Roberts can burn in hell for all I care. His court is a joke.

All the law said was the person killing the babies had to have admitting privileges into a hospital.

But no. Can't have that. Nothing can impede our murdering of babies.

Also, black lives matter. Sometimes.

527 514 Has anyone else noticed that even the mildest expression of skepticism about masks on Facebook results in hysterical reactions? What in the world is going on?

People think they're going to die. That's it. That's all. They're wrong. All they know is the gov lies and there is a dangerous thing loose. And they don't have the time or brain to wade through the BS for the truth.

Political divide in US pretty much comes down to this rn.

Had a "doctor" try to tell me that he's been masked before for up to five hours during a procedure with no ill effects.

I asked him, so you're masked up for 8 hours a day moving merchandise and stocking shelves?

Because that's what they are asking of people in the workplace.

529 315 So if you can't require doctors to have admitting privileges at local hospitals because it somehow violates the right to an abortion per Roe v Wade, then why does it have to be a doctor to give an abortion? Doesn't that violate that made up right also?

Didn't VA or NY pass a law saying you don't have to be a doctor to do an abortion?

530 It's uncomfortable, it's hard," said Mary T. "Somebody gave a quote to me that I felt was really great: 'To some giving up privilege feels like oppression,' but it's not. We're just trying to level the playing field."

She has a Mandingo fantasy.

Race is but one aspect of the playing field; It's far from the entire playing field. Loving and good parents, innate intelligence, intellectual curiosity, being taught the value of hard work, available churches, available education opportunities, physical strength and health, mental health, lack of deformities, general attractiveness, and a sense of humor are just a few other very important parts of the playing field of life. How one or more stack up against race is open to debate, but certainly race is not the end all.

531 I wonder of Trump could use reverse psychology on Roberts? Pretend he's all for abortion and then watch Roberts race to ban it.

533 Also, don't worry about Trump's taxes showing something criminal. I don't believe for a second that Obama didn't pass them around all over the Democrat party when he was President. So there must not be anything bad there or it would have leaked. The IRS obviously looked them over already too.

534 390 I only know this because that's the route we have to follow every
f-ing time for getting my 99 (now) yr old mom admitted. It's a fight.
Typically I have to brush up on the ailment's med journal lit then fight
with the hospitalist. We've even had ER docs tell us, "It's not enough"
which means she ALSO needs chest pains, which are easy to develop. You
know what else is hard to get? Blood. You have to fight for blood.

not sure whether figurative or literal. "hold still, mom, this'll hurt a bit".
