North Portland Looks Like Warzone After Antifa Attacks and Looter Raiding Parties

Plus two attempts to set up autonomous zones.

Portland police permitted Anfita's looting and rioting for hours.

They're bragging that they have all the money, thanks to leftwing donors.

They're raising money through GoFundMe -- which has a policy against fundraising for criminality. But I guess they've suspended that rule for their leftwing terrorist allies.

The real problem is that Portland has no economic base. There are no industries left, no big companies HQed in the city, nothing but service economy.

Trashing businesses outside of the downtown core means these will not rebuild at all. They don't need to exist there. They will just move to teh suburbs and NE PDX will once again turn back into a ghetto. Like it was just 20 years ago.

It makes me livid what they are doing to the city and state, but they did in fact vote for it and continue to do so. When Shemia Fagan wins the SOS race in the fall, redistricting will mean that Oregon will never again see any sort of sane governance for a generation or two. Hardesty as mayor will lock Portland into the criminal graft and no law enforcement model of corrupt East Coast cities. 136 So, I know i am not the only Ron here who has visited OR and witnessed the stupidity first hand. I worked a lot of cases down in Portland and Multnomah CO over the years- this shit has always been there. The difference between now and 16 years ago when i first started in my profession is that the shitheads doing the protesting are now fully funded and HIGHLY organized. I would not be surprised to see some former military vets helping to coach, teach and mentor these fucking rubes into some semblance of a fire team.
Recall Army LT Spenser Rapone, the communist shitbird who managed to make it through West Point undetected and come out fully commie before finally being booted. There are some libs in the military, it happens, and some of you have probably come across some fairly radical ones. They were few and far between, thankfully. But no doubt some have joined the profession of arms under the ruse of serving Merica and trying to gain as much knowledge and skills necessary to help their perceived revolution.
But I digress.
Portland PD has always had its hands tied. This shit will continue until multiple people die. And it may continue well past then, i don't know. Portland has always been weird and it would seem that most living there are content with this anarchy.
I am very surprised Antifa and it's puppet master has not attempted to assassinate Andy Ngo.

I suspect most of those charged will not show up for their court dates, however. Mostly, because a lot of them are sitting in Chaz for that very reason. Posted by: Laughing in Texas at June 26, 2020 03:40 PM (ExV1e)

It's not that, it's merely that at the time the Klan had the backing of municipal authorities. Whenever this is the case, violent/rioting people can get away with a lot more than they otherwise could.

I understand the motivation behind the whole Klan's original idea (resisting Northern imperialism) but short of fighting another war, it was stupid and futile. In fact, the later Klans (there are several distinct versions of the group) were mostly progressives; they were for every platform of Progress except race. It reminds me most of Republicans today who are for every aspect of Progressivism except Capital Gains taxes and people wonder why they never win.
(The Klan, like the ADL and SPLC was nothing if not a huge donor operation to get grifters rich, too.)

Now compare that to the Marxist Black Lives Matter protests, looting, rioting, arson and cop-killing and the rioting, arson, statue-destroying and "autonomous-zone" creating of antifa.

Think the average person still believes the media lie about the nationwide threat of "white nationalists"?

Some friends of mine moved to Portland before Antifa turned it into their base (2009, maybe 2010). It was cool enough. Lots of bums, but otherwise pretty normal. Great restaurant scene. Decent "urban energy" (whatever the fuck that is), the rose garden is spectacular. It reminded me - in good ways - as sort of like the Pittsburgh of the west, a river city with industry and nice add-ons. Excellent beer culture. It wasn't rich or poor that I could tell, but I didn't see the whole place and most of my time was in a lower-middle-class area. I kinda liked Portland.

260 North Portland Looks Like Warzone

It's important to keep this in context. The only areas in Portland to see looting and vandalism are 1) downtown, 2) a small area east of the river adjacent to downtown, 3) a small area adjacent to the mayor's apartment near downtown, and now 4) an area within a block of the north precinct. Tearing down the statue of George Washington was in a different area, but that was a one-off.

Although a few thousand people live downtown, downtown has been largely deserted for months thanks to an epidemic restriction. A few thousand people more live near the other locations.

The Portland metro area has two and a half million people, less than 1% of whom have been directly affected by all this.

There has been zero damage in the suburbs, where 75% of the population lives - Antifa can't operate in a jurisdiction that would seriously prosecute people for rioting.

Posted by: The ARC of History! at June 26, 2020 03:56 PM (I2/tG)

Fort Hood was cool though. I also liked checking out the crater and wishthinking that's where all the collective left in the world used to be.

Pretty much along the I-5 Corridor, as you leave Portlandia and find yourself through Eugene and Ashland, you'll find libs. The rest of the state is pretty much red. Farming, ranching individuals. Very similar to WA State- most of the libs are around the Puget Sound area are deep blue and have an absolute stranglehold on the state.

If anyone wants to see why we have an Electoral College and not a popular vote, Oregon and WA are a perfect example on the small scale in favor of the EC. Both states are held captive by insane fucking people in about 3 counties each who have the densest populations.

Posted by: Tom Servo at June 26, 2020 03:52 PM

Agreed.

He should point out to every American that their Governors and their mayors are failing them. That each state has at their disposal local police forces, state police forces and, in times of emergency like this, national guard.

And then point out that each and every Governor and Mayor has deliberately chosen to NOT use any of these options to protect their citizens from terrorists.

And then name names. Oregon Governor and Portland Mayor. Washington Governor and Seattle Mayor. Etc.

Put them on the spot.

And he should also share the comments of the Black Lives Matter leadership about using violence and about their purpose for Marxism for America.

Then remind Americans that every business, company and sports league in the country has donated to people who want a violent overthrow of the nation and replacement with Marxism.

Expose every last one of these fuckers.

No, I don't think so. It's legal to pay for someone's bail, I don't think it's illegal to set up a fund to bail them out in case they get arrested. That's very different from aiding in the crime -- after all, just because they've been bailed out doesn't mean they aren't still going to be put on trial. It just means they don't have to wait for that time in jail.
There are likely conditions under which the bail is forfeited, which is part of how the whole 'bail bonds' industry supports high-crime cities

Absolutely. But what I've noticed about blue flight is that it slows the rot down.

It takes time to take over a new city, and they are further out of their bubble than they were before.

However, I admit, I might be whistling in the graveyard.

I'm afraid not, Radio. There is a concerted effort by some libs to relo to red states expressly for the reason of turning them blue.
Spokane, in NE WA, used to be a red city. No more. It's not quite purple, but it ain't deep red anymore.

If you read his first post, he asked if there was any chance of getting a job in Eastern OR. The answer is likely no.

Property values have nothing to do with it. Yeah, a lot of people buy second houses out there, keeping the values inflated (in addition to the UGBs limiting building), but there's little chance of a random person earning a living there out of the blue. Even before the pandemic, unemployment outside the Tri-Met area was double to triple that of the metro area. And is someone commenting here going to be picking fruit as a farm laborer?

Visiting might be one thing, and I've been there more times than just about anyone here, I'd wager. The Gorge is not in any way, shape, or form an employment magnet.

1996 was the Year of Bob Dole. The public never soured on Bob Dole. Mostly because it never warmed up to Bob Dole despites Bob Dole's inherent warmness. Bob Dole is so warm.

This is 2016 redo - no one has changed - not the press, not the pollsters, not the dems, not the NeverTrumpers, not Trump, not the electorate...its all the same, just as I remember it was...the same headlines, the same assurance that Trump is getting trounced, the same evidence from special elections and rallies that he isn't - its deja vu all over again - and it will play out nearly the same. You hide and watch.

426 I read a post on the likemotherlikedaughter.org blog. It's run by Leila Lawler and her daughters, mostly with advice for Catholic moms. (Catholics might recognize her husband, Phillip Lawler).

Someone suggested she start a private Facebook page, so that women could have a community. She said absolutely not. They encourage local groups to form instead. She said young moms need physical community, people that could bring you a meal when you're sick or babysit a child. She also said online time takes away from the time you have for real relationships.

It's why MoMes are important. The online community is wonderful. But it's also nice to know you aren't alone in your deep blue state.

Posted by: Radio Control Submarine Unit #2 at June 26, 2020 04:02 PM (Eg9+v)

I'm afraid not, Radio. There is a concerted effort by some libs to
relo to red states expressly for the reason of turning them blue.

Spokane, in NE WA, used to be a red city. No more. It's not quite purple, but it ain't deep red anymore.

Posted by: Secret Squirrel, author of 3 LTs of JBLM- a funny play on Amazon at June 26, 2020 04:04 PM (xyImL)
No, this is a different phenomenon. To move out of these cities which are becoming a mecca of progressive ideology is to abandon that ideology. The other movement is quite distinct and motivates a different group of people. In any case, it is very unlikely that people who leave these cities WILL EVER LIVE IN A CITY AGAIN. I know quite a few of these liberal/progressive adjacent types and they are now looking full at options to telework or just simply quit being part of the urban scene at all. That doesn't really deal with your fear of them 'making the country blue', but they will adapt to the local customs, as they always do.

463 One thing that Trump could do is to announce that since cities like Portland obviously have no intention of enforcing the laws, then they will not get any Federal law enforcement grants.

464 Moore has a few blind spots. He goes on and on about how many jobs Googlag provides and it's all wonderful. He really doesn't seem to see big tech as the leftist political operators they are

Moore is interested in the economy, that's his job.

In that blind spot he is creating stands PDT with a bat.

A lot of people don't understand the U-shaped scale between Private Oppression (Brigands, Mob bosses, Strong men) and Public Oppression (Dictators, Tyrants).

In the *middle* lies the proper balance between powers which we call "liberty".

I'm a big champion of Free Markets, but I also understand the distortion that monopolies can be.

More people need to understand the U-shape.

466 this is not going to bode well for democrats in the fall.

The votes are already counted. They just need to create enough "emergencies" that we have to have mail in voting. Oregon went to mail in voting in the mid 80's and I'm pretty sure that was the year the state went permanently blue. We have had a democrap as governor ever since we instituted mail in voting. They always win by about 5,000 votes. Every....Single ....Time...

467 Yep, the FBI is assigned to bank robberies

That's comforting.

468 You know, it would be a real shame if some group claiming to be Antifa, because, you know, they don't really exist so anyone could claim to be one, started breaking the shit of the left up.

I always love how leftists seem to go between saying "there is no such thing as Antifa", and "those white supremecists are pretending to be Antifa!".

They make the most bald faced false claims and never get called on it, like very other fucking thing they do.

469 I live about a mile and a half from where this all went down. I heard some bangs and noises in the distance last night but couldn't tell what it was, so I turned on the county police scanner broadcast and it was silent. I didn't realize why it was silent until just now; they turn it to an encrypted channel whenever there are protests going on.

"There is literally no reason to stay in Portland. If you are anywhere near there, leave."-------------We did.

471 Honestly, it's time to RICO go fund me. I mean sure, they've allowed a few good things to get funded. But mostly? It's a communist money laundering racket. Shut it the eff down.

472 Portland's Antifa enclave isn't new. It's been there for years, because the mayor and police commissioner are members.
Now. Why TF has it taken this long for Trump to send troops?
One wonders how long a country can fail to hold its territory before it doesn't own it anymore!
