Outrage Mob Screams At Maskless Shopper Until She Flees the Store

People are self-feralizing, and they're proud of it. It feels good to be an unreasoning, hateful, fearful animal.

The important thing was that they all got to hoot together like a commune of chimpanzees.

I was at Trader Joe's and got a "Please step behind the line!!" at the register. Ok, you've got a bulletproof barrier in front of you, somehow I'm supposed to stick my card in a reader that's now 5 feet away, and notice this floor decal says something different than the one that's 2 feet that way, or 3 feet that way?

I'm about done with the mask thing. I'll go find a Mexican market where they don't have to wear masks, and have never worn masks, and sure as hell ain't going to be putting decals on the floor in 2 languages.

39 Where was the store staff? That is what is more telling to me than the raving band of Karens.

I don't know if masks are mandatory to do grocery shopping in Staten Island or not. It also doesn't matter. The store manager should have gotten on the PA immediately upon hearing the kerfluffle and told them to knock it off and sent an employee (or gone himself) to either tell the woman that masks are mandatory and she needs to leave or help her with her shopping.

The store's management should not have allowed this happen without response of some kind. Even if the woman was in violation of the rules, this is unacceptable behavior to allow to occur without comment.

This is a short clip. I hope something like I described happened.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I have not heard anything about the $450 bonus, but here's what I do know. Employers who applied for and received small business loans have to spend 75% of that money on payroll over the next two years in order to convert the loan to a grant. The clock started ticking as soon as they received the funds, so they are desperate to get the employees back to work ASAP. Most states don't pay that much in unemployment, so it is the extra $600 per week from the feds that is making the difference. Steve Mnuchin has stated that if employers report to (not sure which) "authority" that they offered a laid-off employee their job back and the employee refuses, said employee will become ineligible to receive the extra $600. In addition, I have heard that, in recognition of the fact that employers are bidding against the government and therefore powerless in some cases to get their workers back, legislation is being proposed to lower the threshold from 75% to 50%. In the event that the threshold remains at 75%, perhaps Kudlow was suggesting that employers use part of their small business loan to pay those $450 bonuses.

Come to Vermont. Plenty of sheeple here. I tend to frequent home improvement and hardware stores and it is rare to find one other non-mask wearer in the building, and it is not even mandatory here. So disheartening to see how many people love them some big government, but we're not exactly a hotbed of independent thought anymore.

I think this is very true. All these "400 New Cases!" blurbs on the news make it sound as if 400 people are getting last rites. I wish they would publish hospitalization numbers rather than positive cotton swab numbers. It would be much more informative.

Shit, if Noo Yawkahs had practiced what they preached and stayed the fuck home, there would probably be a few thousand fewer Wu Flu cases in Florida.

I come over, "Hey man!" and I see a hand come up with something shiny.

Two things then simultaneously happened. 1) Every police car in Wichita KS suddenly came to a stop at my corner. One of them bumping the dude down. 2) I may of peed myself a little.

I found out the dude just shot his live in gf and was roaming the neighborhood high on something and dangerous.

I'd try testing out just how afraid they really are. I'm about there now.

The assisted living place my mother is at has started allowing (read: sneaking) visitors if they're wearing masks. It's life or death at this point.

It's painfully obvious that elderly and immobile people have very little left in life, except for children, grand and great grand children. Or anybody. If there's no reason to be alive, they begin to wither.

The health problems with all the residents have been mounting in the past few weeks, as it has with my mother. I have no doubt the death count related to covid is going to be frighteningly high when this is all over.

344 I got a hair cut the other day. Small rural town miles from where I live. All the places near home are all mask only and we have to take your temp like a Boston butt on the grill.

I ain't having it. I'll do business with you when that BS stops.

I walked into the small rural barbershop, holding my mask in my hands. Hopeful for the outcome I was aiming for.

Walked in. Lock eyeballs with the owner. She wasn't wearing a mask either. Asked her if I needed to wear one.

She hesitated, unsure if I was an undercover mask agent from the FBME (fed bureau of mask enforcement).

I gave my best ' i ain't a cop' face. She looked me up and down and decided I wasn't. She closed the blinds on the shop front and locked the door.

I got a haircut without wearing a mask and we talked about how fucking stupid this all is. Best. Haircut. Ever.

The big-box stores are starting to tick me off, a bunch. After I moved to the new place, I had to start shopping for appliances. You'd think in a borderline depression prices might remain the same or even go down, right? Nope. Everything I was pricing back in February and March has gone up $200-300. Even freaking Costco wants the same price for a range as does HD. They're sitting pretty, while the poor guys at the smaller appliance stores are going out of business since they're not allowed to open their doors.

I'll be there for the liquidation sale - but damn. How sad is it it's come to that? My new mid-new-years resolution is to do anything I can to NOT shop at amazon/home despot/costco etc. They're coming out of this stronger than ever, since government has eliminated the last vestige of competition. I'll happily pay more.

I know the race baiters are just waiting for this, but it sure doesn't help when white cops just cold bloodedly murder an unarmed black man on the street, and don't care that they're being filmed doing it.

And their first public statement, before the video from a bystander came out, was a baldfaced lie about how the death had occurred.

430 bluebell - can you go to church?
Posted by: grammie winger at May 26, 2020 04:21 PM (lwiT4)
---------

Nope, not for Mass, not yet. Our church is open every day for private prayer and every time I go there are at least 3 or more other people there. Oh, and I happened on a wedding on Saturday! I was coming back from the post office and stopped in my church to finish my rosary. When I went in, I could hear organ music. I looked in and there was a bride in her beautiful dress and her groom next to her. There were just 10 people there, of course.

But I sat in the lobby and watched. I actually got to hear most of the Mass as I came in about 10 minutes after it started. It was so beautiful, I cried throughout. It must have been a hard decision to decide whether to postpone the wedding or go through as scheduled but I was happy for them that they decided to go forward.

432 On my FB feed of those who post mask BS probably the ones citing made up crap about a mask will make your blood 02 low, you'll get sick because of rebreathing the bacteria or virus you were shedding, etc are even slightly more obnoxious than the Karens showing made up posters about how much wearing a mask will reduce the chance of you spreading the 'rona to someone else if you've got it.

Don't want to wear a mask I don't GAS but when you feel the need to crow about it &/or defend your choice with BS I do find that annoying, in fact even slightly more annoying than the sheeple repeating what the FNM told them about wearing masks to protect the rest of the community.

OTOH when I'm riding in open space areas I am thinking "seriously?" when I see hikers and bikers wearing masks for widely spaced outdoor recreation. Come on people sunlight kills germs quickly and they are getting very diluted in the open air. Besides if you are healthy enough to be enjoying mother nature you are in the very very low risk of serious illness if you get the 'rona category.

487 The weird thing is that Staten Island is by and large bristling at this nonsense. We meet the criteria Gramma Butcher Cuomo set down for the first phase of reopening, but because we're part of the NYC region we can't reopen yet. Lots of small businesses and restaurateurs are protesting, and there are law firms offering free representation to people who do reopen.

I thought this must be at the Trader Joe's, but nope, it's a Shop Rite. Won't be going there again.

That's how I feel. Live and let live - you wear a mask if you want, and I won't harp at you, and let me live in peace in return. I would voluntarily wear a mask around an immuno-compromised person or my friend's 96-year-old mom (when we are allowed back to visit her in her memory care facility). But if I am staying six feet away from everyone at a store, I really don't see the need.

If asymptomatic people can spread the virus through breathing in and out, it certainly hasn't been proven yet (and believe me they have tried).

Take it for what it is worth since the source is a study by Chinese virologists that was vetted by the NIH but a brand new study followed over 400 people who closely and continuously exposed (for days) to an asymptomatic carrier of flu manchu (doctors, family members and other patients were part of the study). That study found no evidence of disease spread from asymptomatic carrier to other people even in situations where surface spread was possible and likely.

631 That's a new one! I was in a Marine City store last week and forgot my mask. The worker said I didn't need it and the manager confirmed.

I suppose the governor tacked that on later. Let's see if the AG puts the teeth in it.

That was me! Every grocery store I go to has a sign posted saying masks are mandatory.

Of course, Tarzhay is a bit more Karen-y than others.

around his neck (when he's giving press conferences) or not at all (when
he thinks no one is looking).

Liberals have a great answer for this one. He only did it for a little bit because the people he was talking to couldn't hear him.

So on the one hand Wuhan Flu is just floating around in the air waiting to get to you, but on the other hand yelling at someone, as long as it is for a short time, is a-ok?

Maybe this is a variant of the 5 second rule?

I saw a meme recently, whether real or 'shopped I don't know. Meat case of a grocery store stripped bare, except for the vegan "meat" section. That was fully stocked.

Why would they come for me?

If your not a Liberal, or a Democrat, or a member of Congress, don't worry about it.....they're not coming for you.

We took pre-orders on the meatloaf, stuffed peppers, galumpkis and some other ground beef thing I can't think of right now. Going to be mighty slim on the margins at $6.00/lb.

638 Bander, quite wrong you are there.

We "know" quite a bit.

Knowing meaning both being able to exclude things, and make certain inferences - plenty of data, far more than enough, for some time, for those.

Most importantly, we know the most important thing - not a bug that poses mortality risk to the bulk of the population. When/if medical condition data are provided for fatalities, at sufficient levels, it will confirm what the partial info points to unambiguously: not a threat to healthy non-elderly, significantly less so than influenza.

And the bits about exposure not conveying immunity - no, that's long-shot speculation based on one erroneously/now withdrawn set of cases in South Korea.

Not knowing exactly how resistance or immunity are achieved - prior infection, prior exposure, t-cell strength, cross-protection from anti-bodies developed for other c-viruses, etc - is not needed to recognize that - yep - the epidemic is following precisely the same path of cases/deaths as every other viral respiratory epidemic ever seen.

Which in itself gives you most of the practical, operational info you need to act/not act/do certain things/not do certain things.

Academic understanding of a natural phenomenon and public health understanding are vastly different things.

640 A man tried that with me at Walmart. Masks aren't required here and I have never worn one. He started screaming that I was endangering everyone. I told him to f-himself. He continued and I stayed calm and told him to f himself again. He threatened to beat me up and I told him to try it, that I wasn't afraid of him and to f himself. I also carry, but he didn't know that andI didn't back down and he was flummoxed.

Haven't read all the comments in this thread, but the NHL is proposing a 24 team playoff (12 from each conference) and playing a March Madness style bracket until the conference championships where they'll go to a 7 game series.

The 2 locations mentioned for all the games are Las Vegas and Orlando.

Posted by: Sponge - China is asshoe! at May 26, 2020 04:51 PM

Yep, me at Comment 553.

Just saw that 10 cities are under consideration:

--- Chicago, IL
--- Columbus, OH
--- Dallas, TX
--- Edmonton, AB
--- Las Vegas, NV
--- Los Angeles, CA
--- Minneapolis, MN
--- Pittsburgh, PA
--- Toronto, ON
--- Vancouver, BC

Will be interesting to figure out how Canada would deal with this considering they have different policies for lockdown in that country.

And Chicago? Mayor Lightfoot is never going to allow that.

Dallas, Vegas and Los Angeles? In July-August? Yeah, good luck keeping ice playable in those cities in the dead of summer.

That leaves... Columbus, Minneapolis and Pittsburgh

OH and PA are still shut down, if I remember correctly.

Good luck to Bettman trying to negotiate with any of these cities to host playoffs.

645 @638 "Bander, quite wrong you are."
After which, you do exactly what Bander said you would do: parrot the most "sciency" thing you've heard lately, and just claim everything before was a lie. My information about the unreliability of "immunity" comes from professional discussion with three M.D. doctors. You had God damned better be an awarded and credentialed research group leader, with publications.

You guys have been driven stark raving by your need of a haircut.
I am, at a nationalistic level, just plain ashamed of you.
Don't you EVER make fun of the Millennials again.
You have a lot of nerve -- but not actually any balls at all -- to call other people petulant children. You're wishing this disease away.

650 I understand the women doing out, that's what liberal white women do, but the male really need a good shit kicking.
