Tonight's ONT Ends With A Bang!

Greetings Morons and Moronettes! How is your 2020 going?

Road Runner.jpg

Seems accurate. So does this:

Back The Blue

I posted several weeks ago about how the brown shirt tactics being used by some cops around the country was eroding faith in the police, even among those on the right. Seems I am not alone in these concerns:

Of course, after this video surfaced, this officer was lionized for his courage, and held up as a shining example of integrity for his entire department. Nah, brah, I'm pulling your leg.

Gretchen Whitmer Allows Gay Swinger's Club to Operate While Barber Loses License

This right here completely exposes the fiction that these things are being done in the interest of the public health. If you're worried about the spread of a deadly virus, clubs where anonymous men have random sex with each other are the first places you shut down, not the last. It's the same with keeping abortion murder mills open and closing churches. This isn't about health or safety at all. It's about using the Wuhan flu as an excuse to destroy the cultural norms of the country in an attempt to replace them with something sick and evil. I've said many times that Ace has the wrong Mencken quote on the masthead.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.
- H. L. Mencken

The COVID-19 'Science' Is Starting to Scare Me

The good rabbi who wrote the later article hits at, but never quite directly states, the conclusion that my own historical studies have led me to: When used as a basis for public policy, “science” always* leads to the expansion of government power and control and a contraction of individual rights and freedom.

*In some rare – very rare – cases, this may lead to positive outcomes for the population, but in every one I can think of the trade off has occurred, and in every case the expansion/contraction dynamic has continued long after whatever limited public good was achieved. Example: Something like the EPA was needed in the early 70s (should have been handled by the states, but it was needed), but whatever good it accomplished back then is far outweighed by the bloated, bureaucratic parasite on the economy that it has since become.

Playing Politics

We're 6 months out from the election, but people are starting to produce political ads. Here are 2:

I particularly like the fact that the second ad uses Jon David's “American Heart”. That song has always been a favorite of mine (I like this version better). I think it's high time that song had a resurgence. Funny thing is, this is the second time this week I've come across someone using it. Here's a country version: Filmmaker Creates Country Song that Rejects Fear, Remembers America in Pandemic.

Farmageddon 2020

Last week's ONTs were a bit skimpier than usual, for which I apologize. We (myself, Gingy and Little) decided at the last minute to attend Farmageddon, an annual gathering of folks in Georgia to shoot guns, eat BBQ, and hang out drinking beer, and I didn't have time to write the ONTs before we left. We drove down in the RV, and I just want to take a minute to let y'all know what it was that took me away from my COB duties. In a word: It. Was. AWESOME.

First thing we did when we got to Georgia was wait while my wife got a mani/pedi. It was nice to be back in an America where things were open. When we got to the farm, we spent the first night hanging out and talking. The next day, it was time to shoot, and whoa Nellie was there a lot to shoot. We shot rifles. We shot shotguns. We shot pistols and sub-machine guns and a .50 cal Barrett. We shot tracers at homemade tannerite (which strangely enough was affixed to a Beto For President sign). We even shot 12 oz. cans from a “grenade” launcher. As an added bonus, one of the men there was a licensed private pilot with a Cessna 172 at a nearby field, and he took us up and let us fly it around for a bit. It was the kind of weekend that dreams are made of. Here's Little firing the .50. He hangs his head at the end there because we were shooting at a steel plate about 450 yards out and he just missed high. I had hit.

As awesome as it was to be a part of, I am even more humbled and grateful at the way everybody treated Little. Not only did he get the incredible experience of firing all those guns and flying the plane, but he was treated with respect by the men there, accepted as someone who belonged. He got to experience a weekend of American men doing American things and learned a little of what it means to be a man. That was more valuable than all of the other cool things put together.

I want to thank Bill for hosting, Claude for cooking spectacular BBQ, Jeff for bringing the .50 and letting everyone shoot it, ditto Scott with the class 3 license and the sub-machine guns (we fired a Sterling and a Swedish K, but he had a whole BOX of them). Rob was nice enough to bring tracer rounds and pass them out, and Jesse was particularly nice to Little, as well as making bacon-wrapped venison poppers which may be the best thing I've ever eaten. Matt was the pilot who gave Little an experience he wont forget. Hell, everyone there was fantastic, and I'd ride the river with any of them.

Oh, and a special shout out to Alberta Oil Peon who was generous enough to take a frantic call from me after I put new batteries in the RV on the way home and had an issue. He helped me straighten it right out (near as I can figure it was wired wrong to begin with, but one of the old batteries must have been completely dead so it wasn't delivering 24v to a 12v system. When I put the new one in, suddenly it was). Beers are on me the next time I'm up in the hat.

16 Just got my shipment from Jewells45. Absolutely stunning jewelry. The photos did not do the work justice. I actually gasped when I unwrapped the necklace. I cannot recommend her work highly enough.

Plus there was a bonus AoS keychain, which is also awesome! I'm a bit afraid to use it, as (as I often tell people) "If someone stole my car, they'd bring it back. Plus, there'd be an envelope on the passenger seat with a note saying 'Hope this helps' and a $20 bill."

But now they'd steal my car just to get my keychain, and this will not stand!

Thank you, Jewells! And to the rest of you, if you're not buying her work, you are missing out!

Speaking of ruining. . .Insty has a link to Tater smirking that OANN is the TCM of news broadcasts, since it gives people news "the way they remember it." On his twitter thread, he's being hammered by TCM fans.

All well and good? Of course not. Because they all have to virtue signal about TCM being staffed with gays, blacks and progressives and how the sister-screwing MAGA rednecks either are too dumb to watch the channel or won't watch it because it has women, black and gay hosts.

Fucking leftists take the joy out of everything. Although I shouldn't be surprised - there's a silent film board out there I pop into from time to time, but not much, because IMO real silent fans are some of the most arrogant assholes you will ever meet.

34 I see that the Michigan Supremes say that Gretchen Whitmer has the right to take your civil liberties away under a Michigan Emergency Management law...unfortunately for these Supreme Imbeciles, no state may erase any American citizen's rights under a state law, like period, emergency or no. To try and do so is unconstitutional - otherwise we'd have free states and slave states again.

These state law suits need to be appealed to the USSC now - otherwise Der Karen Fruher Whitmer will be able suspend your life and pursuit of...well, anything, with just an emergency order or dictate.

There was - might still be - a writer named Daphne Merkin who wrote an essay about how she liked being spanked and the difficulties she had both in bringing it up in relationships and what it meant that she, a feminist, liked being spanked. 72 Democratic Governors are manipulating our country's officers into
stepping on Americans constitutional rights by arresting them- for
something as little as walking in a park.

Speaking of that:

Pritzker seems poised to withhold federal funding that he says
Illinois desperately needs from local law enforcement officials that do
not properly follow his mandate.

This is the second time
Pritzker has threatened withholding federal funds as a tool for local
leaders to fall in line. He said he would consider keeping federal
relief from counties and businesses that do not follow his executive
order.

The tighter Jabba squeezes the more of the state slips through his fat fingers. The Illinois state police have now said they will not arrest business owners for opening their business. A number of county sheriffs have said the same.

It would help to know what authors you like already. For mysteries, my hierarchy goes Rex Stout (Nero Wolfe books), Lawrence Block (Matthew Scudder books), then Arthur Conan Doyle, then Agatha Christie (Hercule Poirot plus Ten Little Indians). Thrillers, not sure what you mean, it could cover anything from horror to Tom Clancy. Example author or book?

The tighter Jabba squeezes the more of the state slips through his fat fingers. The Illinois state police have now said they will not arrest business owners for opening their business. A number of county sheriffs have said the same.

Perhaps in that case, the counties being denied funding should refuse to send tax revenue to Springfield. Don't give us what we need, you don't get what you need.

I could even envision the rebelling counties sharing that revenue among themselves, for sundry purposes.

Well, that leaves me free to explore ideas. W.E.B. Griffin was already mentioned, and if you haven't read Tom Clancy's Hunt For Red October, you're in for a treat. But the ones that really got to me in that broad genre are:

Frederic Forsyth: The Day Of The Jackal, The Fourth Protocol, and to a lesser but still high extent, The Devil's Alternative and The Odessa File. Also the short-story collection No Comebacks contains several amazing stories.

Dan Simmons: Carrion Comfort. Nothing like it. Mind Vampires, I guess you'd call it. Amazing.

Lee Child is worth it, for the first 6 books or so.

There's also some weirder stuff out there that's worth reading: William Goldman's Marathon Man, and the sequel, Brothers. David Morrell's First Blood and The Brotherhood of the Rose and one other I can't remember (ignore his later stuff).

It's prosecution on the basis of pre-crime, in essence- this is what this whole pandemic legal shut down boils down to - to some bad Tom Cruise movie where you can deprive citizens of their 4th and 10th amendment rights base on a suspicion or real belief that they will infect someone in the future.

The reason the film was supposed to be controversial is that, obviously, no one has done anything to harm another when you arrest them and detain them (like now) indefinitely. It was supposed to be a way out there thought when the film was made, now its reality - who knew?

193 The magic of vote-by-mail strikes again!

As we have learned, one of the magical things about vote-by-mail is that the people who appear to have won on election night turn out to have lost, after later votes have been counted. Remarkably, it is always left-wing candidates that benefit from this. It's the strangest thing.

We saw this in California, where several House Republican candidates who appeared to have won on election night lost to Democrats after late ballots were counted. We also saw this in Seattle, where a moderate appeared to have beaten the socialist member of the city council, only to have the socialist finally go into the lead days after election day.

Well, Oregon has vote-by-mail too. It's not as stupid as California and Washington - in Oregon, ballots have to be in the hands of election officials at 8 PM on election day (there are ballot drop boxes if it is too late to mail the ballot), not merely postmarked by election day.

Nevertheless, the magic of vote-by-mail persists. The incumbent mayor of Portland appeared to have gotten 51.5% of the vote election night against eighteen challengers, thus avoiding a November runoff. However, late votes reduced his vote to 49.5%, thereby requiring a runoff against a crazed pro-Antifa candidate who got less than a quarter of the vote after receiving $400,000 in taxpayer funds to run her campaign.

More interestingly, there was a race for the Democratic nomination for secretary of state (important because the SOS controls the state election machinery). The two main candidates were a left-wing Democrat and a far-left-wing Democrat, who importantly was endorsed by the government labor unions (you know, the people ho count the votes).

Election night, the merely left-wing Democrat was three points ahead, at which point the main Portland newspaper and other media outlets declared him the winner. But then, a surge of late votes for the far-left-wing Democrat appeared, and the far-left-wing Democrat won by half a percentage point. It's just magical - why, it's almost like the Leftist candidate knows exactly how many votes they need to win after election night, and those votes just magically appear!

We need to take this system nationwide!

As the precision of measurement improves over time they start talking about parts per billion instead of parts per million, and tightening restrictions. To my jaded perspective it looks like the perfect way to de-industrialize an economic powerhouse. Remember Barky talking about strangling coal fired electric generating plants. MFer never did a goddamned productive thing in his life, except make Chrissy Mathews piss his pants. Yet has the power to cripple base power infrastructure, a cornerstone to any viable civilization.

Too weird for fiction.

232 I posted several weeks ago about how the brown shirt tactics being used by some cops around the country was eroding faith in the police, even among those on the right. Seems I am not alone in these concerns:

If cops are thinking "public support, so what", they might find themselves frustrated that juries start acquitting defendants they thought were slam-dunk convictions because they didn't trust the cop's testimony and evidence, or as a plain fuck you to the state

237 Most authors of the "Golden Age" of sci-fi are odd in one way or another.

Most of Heinlein is great, Asimov has a lot of good stuff, Clarke as well...but in all three cases there are weirdnesses that are hard to dismiss.

In most cases, the best course is to enjoy the stories for what they were and what they said, and never open up biographies on anyone (though I think none were as bad as Marion Zimmer Bradley).

Writing should be writing, and judged as such. Sure, if the author turns out to be Hitler, then yeah.

Those usually beep every 30 or 60 seconds. Unless the battery is right on the edge, and "this" minute it's "low", but the next few minutes it's not... that'll fix itself over the next couple days, and the beep will get less random.

My random beeps are either my home security panel (the internet is gone! oh wait it's back.) or my UPS (the line power is too low! oh wait it's not.)

Posted by: lousagirl at May 21, 2020 11:26 PM (+dLD3)

360 This is jmo but i don't think the mask wearing is so cut and dried. I can see were it seems that only Karens and Betas where masks while conservatives and libertarians do not partake.

But I am guessing it is a bit more nuanced. I think there are plenty of conservatives and libertarian-conservatives who where it because they simply don't want to get sick. A bunch more where them only around others so as to not alarm some stranger for no good reason.

And not wearing a mask does not make you a good guy. There are so many entitled jagoffs these days that you could never figure as to why someone is not wearing a mask. There are lot of leftists these days that don't ever think about others. They are not standing on principle, they just don't care about anyone else.

I never question anyone for not wearing a mask. I am as skeptical about this whole thing as anyone else. The usual supects have made this political at every turn. But I don't agree that no mask = conservative and mask = lib. THere is more to it than than.

But the shut down forever stuff is off course lib. They have an agenda and we know what that is. I go out every day and only where a mask around others who are wearing one. Not to stereotype, but just by judging those not wearing, I doubt they are mostly Trump supporters.

beep.

"Yes!! That's a beep. What the hell is that?" Gotta be coming from the living room. Go into living room. Sit still.

beeep!

"WTF!!" This went on for a while. I thought for sure it was maybe a guitar tuner, which was new. Maybe it has a low battery detector or something.

Turns out it was the water heater, which I had replaced about 6 or 9 months before. Electric - with a heat pump. Very efficient. Noisy, when using the heat pump only mode. Inexpensive. And - has a filter that needs to be periodically cleaned. It sets off an alarm, and the digital display warns in bold LCD letters to clean the filter. Today it probably would send a text message or electric shock or something.

398 Rec'd five (5) pounds of dutch process cocoa powder today. Last week twenty (20) pounds green coffee beans. Powdered milk, eight ( pounds on hand. Twenty six (26) pounds sugar. Thirty five (35) pounds flour, six (6) pounds pickling salt. No iodine. Broke out the All American pressure canner.

Lots of fun, that. Canned a bunch of veggies, Taters naturally, to get the hang of it. Froze some too, after parboiling. Tired of throwing away potatoes that go bad.

Onions I haven't figured out yet. They don't keep all that well, but they don't freeze well. I guess dried or dehydrating is an option.

mask in one specific area. I would imagine some of the process of

Ford officials wore face coverings during the tour, according to a pool

The president said he put one on in an area "where they preferred it," and later showed reporters a navy blue mask
decorated with the presidential seal.

Once on that page, in the Craigslist search feature, simply type the word: Acreage, and press GO on your search.

I was stunned at how much land could be bought for stunningly low prices. Even with modest homes or trailers there, ready move in.

If you're going to be stuck in CA, might as well be stuck in some of the most beautiful country in the state.

Alas, for taxes and the rigid inability to develop acreage, clear land or do other such productive stuff with it, I'd damn well be tempted myself.

But I know that the Sierra Club, etc., has the game totally rigged out there. Look, but don't touch, live but don't improve.

439 Trump wearing a mask in a Class 10 Clean Room is of no offense to me, and shouldn't be to ANY one.

Think of those rooms where you see the people in the Bunny Suits as they build satellites for use in space.

One Single Speck of Dust could ruin the entire mission.

Same goes for microchip production facilities, where that one speck of dust is ten-thousand times larger than the "wires" being printed and reduced down to "one atom" sized circuit traces.

You wanna visit the Clean Room, you're going to go through powerful air-blast chambers before and after you suit-up, and series of pressure-differential air-locks as you leave.

A Clean Room is the one place where it is ALWAYS the Asshole Move to remove one's mask.

Get a grip, people.

Quite a long read full of lawyer language, so I can't really tell what all is in it (except that I did catch only manufacturers or importers can put serial numbers on firearms), but as "ghost guns" are made by individuals for their own use I don't know how much this bill, regardless of its intent, will affect that since the phrase "in interstate commerce" is sprinkled about all over it.

At any rate...3D printed AR lowers are out there, and AK's can be made from sheet metal (there is a pattern for it), so good luck.

Just before closing time at Aldi, Milady and me, wandering every which way, unmasked.

Among a few other shoppers (unmasked), there were a couple and a single woman, masked, who checked out about when we did.

Couple looked like they were stocking up or going to feed an army. Single woman was nice and we chatted. ("You know," I said, looking at the stickers on the floor, "they've increased the distance to twelve feet now. Should be eighteen in a few weeks.") Her eyes looked cheerful, but her mouth was of course not there. Pretty little useless ill-fitting but pretty mask.

Those three were all older, obese, and unhealthy-looking generally. Being the target vulnerability group, they probably all have the Kung Flu. I'm glad they wore masks.

Rossmoor is interesting. It's almost entirely homes that were built from 1957 to 1960, and a shopping center that recently underwent some major renovation (very little of the original complex is still there).

My (estranged) father's family was one of the first to move there, when the homes were built in 1957. Ever since then, it's had a VERY tony and upscale vibe. The median price for a home there even today is well above a mil.

They've had the opportunity to become an official Orange County city at least a few times, and always declined. They don't want the additional taxes and regs.

I hear you man. There is no question so many blue states are full of red areas, it is a fact. California is no exception. In fact some areas of CA are super conservative. A few decades ago cities like San Diego and famous areas like the OC were Republican. Some of the most fire breathing Repubs of the 80s and 90s came out of CA. But even then a lot of conservatives had mixed feelings about the place. I don't see how many deal with it these days other than they want to hang on and not be pushed around, which is a good thing.

But I personally would not move to a state that takes away rights I already have. No doubt CA is a special case because men have always been drawn to the beauty of the place. The public schools, not so much. The

481 Jewell45,
This may be late...but mysteries are the genre that I read most frequently.

Classics that most people love:
P.D. James (particularly earlier work) (psychological and beautifully written but often heart wrenching)
Ngaio Marsh (she was a Kiwi, involved in the theater, main detective is a Detective Chief Super who married an Honorable..wonderful plots
Dorothy Sayers (the incomparable Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane)
Martha Grimes (earlier work best imho. Brit detective)
Donna Leon (set in Venice, wonderful protagonist and family)
Ian Rankin (Scottish hard bitten detective, great glimpses of Edinburgh)
Ellen Crosby (vineyard based mysteries)
Margaret Maron (two series, one in NYC and one in NC. I prefer the NC one, starts with "Bootlegger's Daughter which says it all I think. The protagonist is a female lawyer/judge)
Deborah Crombie (two brit detectives, modern and very well written)
Elizabeth Peters pen name for Barbara Mertz (historical mystery but the grit and spark of the heroine and her "father of curses" husband are laugh out loud fantastic. She can spin a yarn. Same author also wrote more modern series featuring Vicky Bliss)

many more of course.

I've also noticed how degraded the picture looks whenever watching a retrospective program containing footage from anytime before 1980. You'll notice much of the time, broadcasters choose to use film footage from that era, rather than videotape.

They are about to call mandamus, bitch, on Sullivan. I love the word "mandamus", "We command" being the Latin translation (and from where our word "mandate" comes from).

If the D.C. Circuit follows its own precedent, it will grant mandamus on Sullivan. It did so in Fokker, for much the same thing, but not as bad as Sullivan.

Mandamus is one of the "extraordinary writs", rarely used, and in this context, that of a higher court mandamus-ing a lower court, it's basically "Sit the fuck down, and shut the fuck up, and this is what you're going to do" to a lower court.

most are newbs. It is like the newb that always thinks he is printing. They think about it all the time as it is something as rare to them as bad rash. When your 2a is the same as your keys or wallet, then you are getting acclimated.

I don't judge others as we are all living different lives under different circumstances. But if you think of drawing down on a regular basis, you might want to rethink some lifestyle choices.

I was talking to a gun salesmen once at a famous national retail shop. He told me he had cleared leather three times and only carried for a few years. I thought to myself, what is up with this guy? I have had that right for decades and never even thought of skinning a smoke wagon.

from his stories yes. I choose to believe that is pretty rare. Particularly those who go throw the hoops for ccw are among the most law abiding groups in the nation. I do think most have to get used to the thing and think about it too much at the beginning. For sure some are not cut out for it and many just stop because they decide it is not for them.

i dont' think in general there are a bunch of guys looking to get into gun duels. Those guys are already criminals and likely won't spend the time getting a CCW. The thing about rights is that there will always be exceptions and people who make a mess of it. But if a right is important, you carry on.

But I have yet to see the deputy video as it has been blocked for some reason. I saw the rifle shooting vid once but only once. I went to check it again and it is also no available. Some glitch I guess.

I thought for a second it was going to be one of those where the shooter got a scope in the eye or something but that did not happen. So what is the complaint here?

How many cops really think about those things on a daily basis other than if they are told to do so? You can say the same about teachers and even doctors. We will be better off when a lot of people start learning what they should have long ago about the Constitution and Bill of Rights. When people think about these things and not just their job, we will be better off.

Happiness is measured in small doses these days. But thanks.

Yesterday was the first day of casino reopenings in MS. Crowds were... sparse. Lotsa masks, including mine. Tons of hand sanitizer stations, a little Q&A at the entrance. Probably 60% of the slots were turned off, to maximize social distancing. No table games.

An interesting point I saw the other day -- Prior to the gubmint ordered shutdowns, people (via phone GPS tracking data) were ALREADY practicing Stay-at-Home, distancing practices on their own.

It's almost like the average American citizen can read, and think.

Almost.

Oh how I agree. If you are young and symptom free, Fuck Masks. But (and I've made this request before) consider my situation.

My mom will likely DIE if I catch the CCPV. I'm her caregiver, I can't farm her out to someone else if I get it. And I like her alive. Personal selfishness, I admit.

So I wear a mask to reduce any possible exposure to a manageable viral load. Maybe I can catch a low dose, fight the fucker off, and acquire immunity. Then she's safe from me. She goes nowhere. She has no other visitors.

I'm not a fucking Karen, you do you. Just don't jump my ass for me doing what I think is our best shot. I don't even GAF about me. But I fight for her.

639 Something to mention to the color-coordinated mask Karens you may encounter (not folks with legit reasons for wearing them):

Don't EVER stop wearing masks and gloves. Plenty of other potentially lethal respiratory diseases out there besides corona, all of which can be transmitted asymptomatically. So if you do stop, you are a hypocritical fad follower who cares about public health only when fashionable to do so.

I get this GnuBreed. And I give no one grief for wearing a mask. I am my mom's caregiver also. I've been the utmost of careful while working through this whole thing. No mask for me, though. Mom either has the most amazing immune system, or we are doing it right, or it isn't as contagious as they first said. Or maybe a combination of all of that.

In any case, God Bless you for taking such good care of your mom! <3

And I stole the NASASutra from one of his latter, lesser novels. That is where more research is needed. I volunteer as tribute.

I took up the game recently, members of my family loved it, thought I should give it a try. I remember a lot of talk, when I was young, of Persimmon woods. I thought it might be cool to play with an old set. So I recently looked on ebay, and the old ones are available, and they look like I remember. But! A couple days later, I happened to see an old set at my driving range, in Thailand, and though it is hard for me to communicate with the golf pro there, he gave me the impression they were not great to play with. Technology I guess crushes them. I am still thinking about it thought. Be good to see what they feel like. Hear the sounds, as I miss hit the ball versus my pings.

704 692 freaked about your old clubs. Yeah, you know, you could look on ebay and see what people are getting for similar?

Old clubs have a sweet spot the size of a pea.

I have my grandfathers wooden shafted clubs. Pretty cool looking but they are just for show. I refuse to hit a ball with them.

757 Useful idiot celebrities doing the bidding of Obama, Soros and Bill Gates.

And it is simply amazing how Dr. Fauci has turned into the world "expert" on basically everything. And he's fucking everywhere. Someone was asking in the comments yesterday what happened to Fauci. Well, here's the answer.

https://bit.ly/3cVXKnR

The celebrity campaign #PasstheMic is enlisting Julia Roberts, Hugh Jackman, and other A-list Hollywood stars to hand over their social media accounts to the likes of Dr. Anthony Fauci and other experts to promote a "global response" to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic. [ ... ]

ONE Campaign also receives money from the Open Society Policy Center, the Soros lobbying group that opposes the Trump agenda and promotes open borders and other left-wing political issues.

Gayle Smith, who currently serves as president and CEO of ONE Campaign, previously worked as a special assistant to President Obama, who later appointed her to head USAID.

"None of us are safe until all of us are safe," Smith tweeted this week to promote #PasstheMic.

Who's behind the push? The roster of donors and leaders reads like a who's-who of left-wing globalists --- U2 frontman Bono, George Soros, and Bill Gates. At the head of the organization is Gayle Smith, a former special assistant to President Barack Obama. [ ... ]

Fauci also warned Americans not to re-open the economy too quickly. "Now is not the time to tempt fate and pull back completely," he said. "There is a golden mean there."

763 Good morning, all.

First, a tip. If videos aren't playing for you on HQ posts, try right-clicking the video and then "open in new tab".

My new refrigerator didn't get here yesterday. So all of the things I'd left out "for just a couple of hours" (since there's only one small cooler) have spoiled. Lowe's called at 9:00 last night to advise me that it would be delivered today. All hell is going to break loose with the weather in a couple of hours and I'd give you seven to one it doesn't get here today, either.

I canceled the shopping trip I had scheduled yesterday and will not be able to make the run today, either. There is not one piece of fresh produce in the house and I've been out of meat for two days.

No, there's nothing you can do to help, though I appreciate the idea. Just thought I'd whine a bit.
