EMT 05/17/20

Started building a new raised bed yesterday. Herb bed was just too low and small. I believe that the easier we make it to garden, the more we'll do.

So this bed is going to be waist high, 4'x8'. Figure we'll do herbs & greens in it, and whatever else that strikes our fancy.

On tap for today will be filling it up with scrap wood chunks, various organic detritus, and soil.

True, but some of the fresh herbs taste totally different. You can even use some of them to smoke the food on a grill.

i love fresh herbs. I don't see the point in a plant you can't smoke, chew , or eat. And i still don't advise smoking or chewing.

the thing with herbs is some will do well and others will be all hell. I have had great luck with lemon grass, mint, rosemary, and thyme. Basil has been hit or miss. Cilantro has basically been slug food.

49 The Chicago Cubs have their own channel now. Of course they picked a hell of a year to start it up.
They've been showing some of the games from the past 30 years once a day with a repeat of that game the following afternoon. Then they decided to change it to a "Mystery" game. So you couldn't see what inning something actually happens.
They've shown about 2 weeks worth and yesterday they repeated a game they had on last Wednesday.
30 years worth of games and they go into repeats in 2 weeks?

Smart punctuation is an iOS feature that automatically turns certain generic punctuation marks like straight quotes into better ones like curly quotes. The problem is that smart punctuation doesnt always play nice with the internet.

It was a lovely sunny day yesterday, so I went for a drive out to central MA, on a country route I hadn't been on in about 10 years.

Here's the thing - and take this while noting I am completely ignorant of Michigan politics - I am cynical and depressive, which means I don't put any stock in people saying "we'll remember in November!" when the November is in 2 1/2 years.

By then, unless the Deep State orders up another batch of Kung Flu, everything will be back to normal (or as "normal" as The State wants it to be) and people will be happy to be out and about, shopping, eating and drinking. They will have mostly forgotten the misery, the lockdown, the masks and the daily grim milestones.

Whitmer will be able, with the compliance of the MFM, to retcon her Hitler cosplay into a strong, principled stand for the protection of "her" citizens, so expect lots of Fauci clips and Karen testimonials along with shots of Bad Orange Man calling it all a hoax and sliming Whitmer as "that woman from Michigan) in order to lock up the TDS vote.

The people who are protesting now, will, by 2022, have lost their fire. Now will be dismissed as "old news," "looking backward" or "neo-Nazi agitation." Look to see a lot of Confederate and Nazi flag imagery combined with pics of burly, scary men brandishing scary weapons, threatening the poor Michigan legislators only trying to do their best for the state.

The election will be Whitmer's to lose. And I do not think she will lose it.

"I was told I had done a good job. I was complimented on the achievements of my office, but the second paragraph, after all these compliments and making it clear this was not a dismissal for cause, was that the corporation had decided to get a new IG," Jordan recalled.

The same day, Roberta L. Gross, the IG at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration since 1995, was given a similar message by NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe.

"He said the White House was in the process of selecting somebody else" for the IG job, Gross said. "He said it was time to move on."

Posted by: Moron Robbie saw a man remove his mask to sneeze at May 16, 2020 11:25 PM

The most aggravating part of this for me is that this is *exactly* what they said in the 26-minute "Plandemic" video. And it was part of the justification for banning it.

The censors claimed that the message that "wearing masks is bad" was a dangerous message and a safety risk to the public. And this type of message should not be allowed to be spread.

Interesting that the PJ Media article has not been banned yet after being posted 3 days ago.

My refrigerator saga came to a satisfactory close yesterday, when-

So much so that Samsung has installed a heating element for a localized defrost cycle to take care of that issue, only -

the code you use to access that cycle is "secret" ie. only given to repairmen so they can charge you 200-300 bucks to come out and access the code.

But, thanks to the internet that code is running wild and free! Though wearing a mask and gloves for safety!

That's assuming she is not the DNC's pick for Biden's running mate and is not finishing up her 2nd year in the White House come NOV 2022.

All things equal from 2016, Democrats just need to flip WI (14,000 vote win for Trump in '16), PA (40,000) and MI (10,000) to take the White House in November.

Ironically, WI, PA and MI are the states in which Governors are tightening the screws the most with their stay-at-home orders and pushing for mail-in voting. Funny that.

That said, if she is not Biden's running mate, I agree with you 100%. Whitmer will easily win re-election in 2022 for all the reasons you state.

314 I don't really understand the rebreathing the virus thing ... it would be true maybe for the already infected but asymptomatic person ... who was already shedding virus. But that would still keep that person from becoming a super spreader. And the mask is only for that hour or two a week when shopping ...

But the other part, about lower oxygen ... that makes sense ... most people can deal with it, but it is not good ... but for the 10% (?) that don't deal with it ... probably more harm is done to them with mask policy, than the good done from slowing the spread via the asymptomatic.

And since they never shut down subways or flights from infected regions ... their intent seems more about harming the private sector and imposing the Gates/BigGov united front against American Liberty ... than fighting any pandemic. We need herd immunity, not eternal fear and shut down.

Interesting that the PJ Media article has not been banned yet after being posted 3 days ago.

a lot of people have revealed themselves to be uncaring jagoffs. I should use another term as "jagoff" is not that negative and doesn't describe them well.

A lot of people are using rubbing alcohol to make hand sanitizer. you take high proof rubbing alcohol, mix it with aloe vera and you are as free as a bird, or so they say. But yeah, that quickly became one of those horded items.

i am seeing a lot more hand sanitizer for sale so you might see rubbing alcohol back on the shelves soon.

but basically people don't give a crap about others. They are in it for them and dont' understand the ramifications.

10-15 years ago, when all of us in the family gathered for Independence Day parties at my cousin's place about 45mins south of Chicago, he would put this film on and forward it to this speech scene.

We'd all gather in the living room, he'd turn the sound up seemingly so the entire neighborhood could hear it and we'd watch this speech.

At the end, we'd all cheer and yell and "'MERICA! Fvck yeah!" and then rush out the front door to start shooting off his cache of fireworks.

Of course, shooting off fireworks was illegal in IL at that time (maybe still is?), so we had to get as many fired off as was possible before any Karens called the cops on us.

Ah, memories... *sigh*

417 I wanted some isopropyl to clean a corroded motherboard but wound up using all we had, which is a bottle of ethyl.

It doesn't work so well.

419 that was funny as hell by Trump. I still find it weird we communicate this way but it is what it is. That clip will not woo a single wine mom or soccer mom but it is great for the base.

I have to say something. I saw that movie when it came out in the theaters. I never liked it. At least then it had the aura of being new and released on Independence Day. And compared to the drivel they put out now, for sure it is a classic by comparison.

420 They hate Trump for being so 'trivial' as to retweet funny vids.

They loved Obama for doing bits on late-night talk shows, though.

and he spent hours at ESPN giving his hoops picks. The entire thing is a joke. The opposition is a fraud and it is too bad they draw so many to their side.
Trump should challenge Obama to a round of golf and one on one hoops game. I don't know if Donald can play hoops but I know Obama can't.

425 how do you get a corroded motherboard? My computers get old as hell and I replace them when it is obvious they are way, way behind the times. I would guess this one is at least a decade old. I have never cleaned a motherboard in my life.

Maybe it is the deep sea computing lol.

Watching President Obama's graduation address tonight I think I finally understand Obamagate. It's the scandal of having a president being able to speak with empathy, humor, insight, inspiration and in complete and coherent sentences.

Obama is sooooo dreamy
