Chloroquine is effective in preventing the spread of SARS CoV in cell culture. Favorable inhibition of virus spread was observed when the cells were either treated with chloroquine prior to or after SARS CoV infectionObviously this is a different virus than the one responsible for Wuhan Flu, but they are very very similar, and it is a reasonable assumption that a compound that shows promise in the treatment of one will show promise in the treatment of the other. So why the hysterical overreaction to the use of HCQ, in direct opposition to the CDC's own research? A suspicious and pessimistic interpretation might suggest that the Chink Lung AIDS pandemic was a ginned up excuse to damage President Trump's prospects for reelection, and that the government apparatus dedicated to prevention and control of disease was repurposed years ago as a weapon in the Deep State's arsenal. So a cheap, relatively safe and possibly effective treatment (and maybe prophylaxis) was an unacceptable complication in the war against the President, and if thousands of Americans died because of the attacks on HCQ, well...eggs and omelets! This does not weaken my and others' desire to see real double-blind studies of HCQ. That is an indispensable part of scientific medicine and must occur sooner rather than later. As much as we all want to believe that HCQ is effective, real data are the only way we will know for sure. And I speak as the son of an 89-year-old who tested positive for COVID-19 and was given HCQ and azithromycin and did fine, with essentially no symptoms! [Hat Tip: muggedbyreality]

So why the war on HCQ? I think there are a bunch of reasons. In no particular order:
- It's old. We're supposed to innovate our way past anything with the newest and the best. Having something extant that is very helpful isn't philosophically palatable to a lot of people, because all problems need to be solved with newest methods every time.
- Trump talked about it. Orange man is bad, and everything Orange man talks about is bad.
- Certain sectors seem to want this thing to go on indefinitely for political and social reasons. A cheap and effective intervention isn't conducive to that.
- It's cheap, which leaves little room for massive wartime profits. I doubt this is driving the news organs, but it may well be driving the CDC and WHO, who are deeply in bed with various industrial elements.
But search me.

Absolutely correct. That's one reason why so many promising drugs never succeed. But with HCQ's proven (relative) safety over many years with other diseases, there was very little downside to its testing and even widespread use.

There should be a major outcry, investigations into how the perverse government-paid medical care incentive structure tied into these decisions, where the ethicists that every state employs were when these decisions were made, the role of hospitals and nursing homes in this predictable and obvious human tragedy, etc. The press should be nailing their asses to the wall for killing thousands of people with their insane decisions.
But they aren't being nailed to the wall. There is no outcry in the major media. There is no pushback at all except from individual people who are horrified at what they've done and their callous and cavalier attitudes toward human life.
My cold anger is starting to boil. It's a complete horror show and no one is holding anyone to account for what they've done. They've hamstrung and collapsed the economy and the citizens for no reason, while deliberately allowing the vulnerable to die off. It's horrific and evil. And no one is being held to account.

I explained- this is how it works. Pelosi whips the vote on the bill to ensure it will pass. She then gives those in close districts a "pass". They don't have to vote for it because, wait for it, she doesn't need their vote, and she knows it. Jackasses.
Pelosi may be a mouth breathing nut, but she knows the legislative process. This was planned because Pelosi knows she need to keep the House in November. This is part of the plan.
You dumbasses.
Look at the other votes from the Democrats you are supporting who are calling themselves "moderate". I guarantee they are not and support the entire Democrat agenda.
Except when it isn't convenient and they need to convince idiots they are something they are not.

It's beginning to look like when the MSM is in lockstep, they can literally control the country. They took Cuomo, who's nursing home failure would have destroyed any GOP'er, and got him an 80% approval rating. Whitmer in MI has an approval rating of around 70%. Meanwhile, DeSantis in FL, who has arguably done the best job in the US, is barely at 50% due to the negative coverage.
It looks like the MSM has learned from their mistake in 16, when they actually did give some bad press on Hillary for her emails, server, etc. They won't make te same mistake with Biden, and it's paid off handsomely for him. All he has to do is stay hidden and he beats Trump like Clinton beat Bush Sr and Reagan beat Carter.
And Trump needs to stop all briefings, stop the fighting with reporters. When people have lost jobs and are petrified about the virus (justifiably or not), he needs to focus like a laser on that and stop his side personal battles that have always caused him to lose support.
This feels like a 6 month funeral going on.

My opinion and experience. The fit is perfect. No problem. The way the windshield reacts in humid circumstances is not as good as the manufacturers original but still well worth the value.

quality seems good enough, we have used them twice without any problems, and the replacements have lasted for years.
As to the defroster question, well, never had electrically heated glass ... I would ask Safelite directly about that.

Safe light replaced the windshield in our Corolla and it looked factory to me. It wasn't cheap or defective in any way.
One thing to remember is to replace your wiper blades after they install the new one. The old ones will not work on the new windshield.

Dems have always been smarter politically than Republicans. They saw an opening and capitalized. Hell, the DNC making sure Biden was the nominee and not Bernie, might have made the best political move in 100 years. That might give them not only the White House, but the Senate, as well.
And Trump was his own worst enemy again, turning the briefings into his personal boxing ring with reporters. Seniors, his most loyal and reliable voting block, have now abandoned him in droves. His main goal now is to get them back.

Had three windshields replaced by them. In all but one case, they came to my house to replace them. Also, depending on your state and your auto policy, it might not cost you anything out of pocket.

My parents, in their 90s, have it. In an assisted-care facility. But they are in generally pretty good health otherwise, and decided (in consultation with a doctor) to not go the HCQ route. It's just "experimental and dangerous." *sigh* They are getting better, but not out of the woods totally, yet; a comparatively mild case. It's an uphill argument, for a variety of reasons I'm sure most of you have an understanding of when dealing with family and elderly. But for now, the prognosis is good, and I've said my piece and done what I can from where I'm at.

Biden has a bigger lead over Trump than Hillary did at this time in 16. The Senate now looks like it will end up in a 50/50 split, so the VP breaks the tie.
With Bernie as the nominee, not only does Trump win, but the Senate is safe and the House would have been in play for the GOP.

My husband's 94 y.o. mom ended up in the hospital yesterday for absolutely no reason. She was feeling tired and had forgotten to take a med (her caregiver forgot to give it to her), and was due for a Face Time appt. with her doc. So the doc's nurse called an ambulance because my MiL *was tired*.
Anyhow, my husband's three siblings who live in Atlanta got in an argument about which one should go to the hospital to pick her up and take her back to her retirement home because OMG CORONAVIRUS.

Not sure if this has been updated, but this is what I found from what she signed on 04/24/20:
Under the order, Michiganders can now move into new homes and travel between two residences within the state. This includes vacation homes, however they are strongly discouraged from doing so by Whitmer.
That was 4 weeks ago, so apparently she is no longer "strongly discouraging" people from traveling to their vacation homes.
