China's State Media Declares It Will Meddle in the US Election Against Trump

Biden has repeatedly said that China is not a threat and that America should not blame China for covid.

Is Biden colluding with China, given that China is openly declaring they will interfere with our elections on his behalf?

It's silly to even ask the question because we know no one in the media will.

I would like to see Trump appoint a special counsel, though.

Like, you know: An insurance policy.

China is threatening to meddle in the upcoming U.S. presidential election as retribution for a flurry of American lawsuits seeking to hold Beijing accountable for the spread of the coronavirus.

The Communist Party "won't just strike back symbolically, but will impose countermeasures that will make them feel pain," according to the Global Times, an outlet controlled by the regime.

The threats come as outrage grows over China's handling of the coronavirus outbreak in the country and the subsequent global spread of the virus.

China also is threatening to sanction several leading Republican senators, including Tom Cotton (Ark.) and Josh Hawley (Mo.), for their efforts to hold the country responsible.

It should be noted that many corporate-funded GOP Establishment politicians are well paid by the China Lobby, too.

Are they paid well enough to remain perfectly silent when China threatens two of their fellow Senators?

Apparently so!

Speaking of people married to the China Lobby, turns out that Mitch McConnell isn't interested in fighting the coup efforts.

Could that be because he's a GOPer who wants to protect the China Lobby from the Bad Orange China-Opposing Man? You be the judge.

For Americans hoping Senate Republicans might finally engage the Russia collusion hoax seriously, last night's interview of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell by "Special Report's" Bret Baier was a tremendous disappointment. McConnell better figure out quickly that if he doesn't hold the Resistance accountable for the Russia hoax that harmed his party and the entire country for many years, he won’t have a majority in the next term.

Yeah he won't. Things don't "just happen." People capable of shaping events either make them happen or let them happen.

There is a reason the Republican-controlled Senate almost entirely stood aside and let the Democrats rape Trump for three and a half years.

That reason is: They're on the Democrats' side in most matters involving wealthy interests.

And Mitch McConnell is the leader of the Trick the Rubes wing.

When Mitch McConnell wants something to happen -- like judges getting appointed -- he makes it happen.

When Mitch McConnell doesn't want something to happen -- like investigating Obama's Deep State minions or Obama himself, or fighting the Democrats on their three long Russia probe -- Mitch McConnell gives a speech or two to Trick the Rubes and then gives the signal to take Trump out behind the scenes.

These people are very good at offering The Rubes some soundbites and then acting ruthlessly against the Rubes when it comes to voting, or legislation, or investigation.

If it helps to motivate him, he should remember that not having the majority in the next term means he won't get to confirm judges, an issue he hopes will be his defining legacy.

Yeah he doesn't really care. He'll die rich. That's all that matters.

The judges are the one sop to The Rubes he's willing to make to keep feathering his nest.

...

Debunking this false narrative was for many years left to a very small band of reporters and congressional investigators. Most of the attention-getting congressional work was done on the House side, including the revelation that Hillary Clinton’s campaign had secretly paid for the false narrative and that there was serious abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in how the government secured wiretaps to spy on Trump campaign affiliates.

Despite being controlled by Republicans throughout the ordeal, the Senate was largely absent from the fight with the exception of just a few senators --- Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin being the primary investigators whose oversight work and document demands paid off. And their work should not be underplayed...

After the Russia collusion hoax helped Democrats win the House of Representatives in the 2018 election, the Senate needed to step up the fight. Yet McConnell didn't prioritize the issue in any way. He never noticeably supported the senators or committees who were doing actual work. He instead deferred to Richard Burr of North Carolina, the ostensible head of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, which for years has in effect been run by Democrat Mark Warner.

That's because he is, was, and always will be on the other side.

Mollie Hemingway notes that Richard Burr was plainly a Deep State plant in the Senate Intelligence Committee, but McConnell didn't do anything about it.

That's for a simple reason: Mitch McConnell wanted a Deep State Plant on the Intelligence Committee.

He has silently approved of almost everything the Democrats have done.

We know now that Paul Ryan was blocking Republicans' ability to issue subpeonas behind the scenes before the 2018 election.

So... who would be the Republican making sure nothing much happens in the Senate since 2016?

Which high-ranking Republican Senator would that be?

Everyone remembers what Mitch McConnell has consistently done when insurgent candidates challenged his handpicked corporate-funded GOPe drones, right?

I hope we haven't all forgotten that.

And I hope no one is under the delusion that Mitch McConnell is more favorably inclined towards the insurgent, anti-Establishment, anti-China-Lobby, anti-endless-corporate-favorbanking Trump?

If he worked ruthlessly to eliminate all other anti-GOPe candidates, why would he permit Trump to go about his business?

Mitch McConnell and his own cronies are silent partners with Chuck Schumer in the plot to get Trump.

So no, Mitch McConnell will not be exposing what his partners did during this hoax investigation.

I'm about to say "It begins". There has been a record dumping of US debt by foreign holders. Foreign central banks dumped near $60B, and foreign private investors dumped close to $250B.

There was a net plus in foreign buying of agencies, corporate debt and stocks, but nowhere near enough to offset the near $300B in T dumping.

Repeat, foreign holders of US debt are started to dump.

We have explicitly been meddling in Russia's politics for years. Going so far as to put individual sanctions on various Russians, just like the Chinese are threatening here.

We started this whole mess.

Its actually amusing to me, because the Constitution explicitly says no 'bills of attainder', and yet that is exactly what we have done to foreign individuals.

Now, you may say, well, they are not US citizens thus have no Constitutional Rights, BUT,

It says no bills of attainder, NOT no bills of attainder against US Citizens.

Also note, we still publicly fund Voice of America, which broadcasts into Russia. Blatant American Propaganda interfering in their politics.

We have no moral high ground on this issue.

I have been rather depressed as well. BUT... we can never really know the future. Yes what the Dems are doing is the dismantling of the nation with a blowtorch right in front of our eyes. But there may be consequences that come back to bite them in the face that we can't imagine.

They are not infallible. Indeed, they are very flawed, stupid and hamfisted. Having the media and academia on their side surely helps. But all that we have endured these past two months could be the start of a reawakening that they never considered. Or a reckoning.

We can't know for sure from where we sit. But things have a way of turning out in ways never expected. Trust in the Lord. And keep your ammo dry.

Listening to the truckers honking their horns outside the WH during Trump's presentation of the awards today is another indication. We've got the truckers, y'all.

You see that when he wants something, like judges, he knows how to get them (and I think he really believes in it, I don't think this is just a sop). However, it shows that he really isn't interested in any other part of the conservative agenda, especially actually trying to reign in spending. How do you have house and senate majorities with a president who will sign anything that you shove in front of him and not bother with any spending reform? He knows how to do it, he just doesn't care.

Ted Cruz was right to call him out for being a liar over the Export-Import bank fiasco.

86 >>>McConnell is gungho on judges but is also a deep state?

He represents the GOPe faction and only the GOPe faction.

Do you remember how McConnell has fought any kind of challenge to GOPe senators? Even getting Democrats to vote for the fossil in Mississippi?

The GOPe has a definite idea of what the GOP should be, which is a favor bank for monied interests with some very, VERY insincere messaging for middle class and working class people about values and "America."

I always note that when the GOPe wants something, like a corporate tax cut, it just magically happens, even over Democrat protests.

But then, with all the things non-GOPers want, they're eternally telling us the Democrats have by gum outfoxed them again and they really wish they could deliver but not this time! Maybe in two more years, if you just donate more money!

I have no problem with a cut in corporate tax rate. BUt I continue to point out when the GOPe makes something a priority, THEY GET IT DONE.

But all the shit YOU want? Not a priority. In fact, most of the GOPe are culturally liberal so they're actually opposed to you on most ussies.

(Though note: Neoliberals aren't really all that against corporate tax cuts. They rely on corporate money to stay in office. But they do put up a good pretend fight.)

87 One more positive thing...the WSJ featured Ginn (author of the now "censored" Medium article that questioned the "settled science and data models) in the Weekend Interview.
Ginn has now assembled a group collaborating on COVID-19 (Wuhan flu to us rubes) and looking at ALL the info--instead of marching in goose-step formation behind La Fauci.

The group includes the estimable Ioannides and others from Stanford, along with some of the folks in Sweden actually querying the real data and results. For an establishment paper to call out the dangers of censorship is a win.

The Constitution is a dead letter. Hell, we don't even have rule of law. So force your enemy into corner after corner, and beat the shit out of them. The New Rules.

102 I always wondered what Mitch McConnell's deal was.

My theory is that he knows that what he is doing is deeply damaging to the country, but he rationalizes that the constitution is what is important, and as long as he is right on judges he is honorable.

So kind of that libertarian thing where they claim that if it is legal it is OK, and if you want it to change then change the laws. So McConell is corrupt as hell, but legally, and figures he is doing his part as a patriot by making sure the laws are not corrupt as well.

176 >>>158 OK, so I am a dummy, so please explain in dummy terms: what does it mean that US debt is being "dumped"?

well if he doesn't answer:

To raise money by selling debt, you need people to buy the debt. the US government sells debt in the form of Treasury bills, a promise to pay interest at x rate for y years.

If people start dumping it -- selling it -- that means they have less confidence in it. Maybe they don't think it will pay (that we'll default), or maybe they're trying to engineer a political problem.

Anyway, if old, already-existing debt is being dumped, that means there's a lot of it on the market, and that means that it will be harder to sell the next round of debt we'll have to sell for the next several billion dollar loaner, and we'll have to offer higher interest rates.

We've gotten away with having such a huge, huge debt because people trusted our t-bills and so we could afford to pay lowish interest rates. But if people start demanding high interest rates to buy debt, lots of bad things will happen.

But it doesn't really matter. The investigations and trials have already gotten to the point Taibbi is comparing our justice system to Belarus. I kind of want to see him interview Conrad Black now. And Judge Sullivan is flouting the Supreme Court, who can either crush him or lose all power they have.

What's great is that the Chinese in general and Joe Biden specifically are waaaaay too dumb to ever, ever beat Trump. They can win a horribly fixed election: so what? They fix the election, you go to the mattresses. Way of the world. And honestly, no amount of fixing will be enough. The real risk is that the world will lose confidence in the dollar as the reserve currency, an explicit goal of the Chinese for a decade or more. All those dollars sloshing around overseas, in Mumbai cabbies hands, or drug dealers in Columbia, might suddenly be sent back to us and in return the foreigners might want real money. Sorry, Ace, no, that's not how sovereign debt works, especially if denominated in USD.

Weakness and pressure in the world can cause selling of, in particular, US debt, because the exchange rates (Strong Dollar) allow covering of other (foreign) obligations.

It likely shows foreign need for cash more than anything.

Look, am I the only one that actually tried to learn if this news was true? A$300 billion selloff would be the only thing anyone, anywhere, was talking about today. I found an article on ZeroHedge, but the actual economic news from March was that foreign official holders went from 4.26 trillion to 4.12 trillion. That's not exactly bank breaking, and actually seems kind of low considering the crisis and liquidity need. It's comparable to the level of December 2019... and even further back. Because in February, foreign Treasury holdings hit a record high.

285 "It likely shows foreign need for cash more than anything." ace

that is my understanding ... though when I hear these guys talk about it, it gets murky. One quote is like 70% of all global transaction are USD ... commodity prices are lower, so third world countries selling their goods are not getting as many USD, can't keep up with their need for dollars to buy ?? oil maybe, or whatever, or to pay off their debts I guess.

Liquidity is one issue, solvency is another. But just when I think I see pieces of the global puzzle clearly, someone throws in some more pieces of the puzzle. But USD is still king, despite all our debt (nice to have a military to back it all up, and no one trusts the China currency)

Gold seems like a safe insurance policy for retaining some wealth, but serious people are saying Bitcoin might skyrocket ... or collapse. Inflating pour way out is the current course, Powell says we won't go negative on interest rates, but some say there will be no choice. Most say recession was coming, even without pandemic ... me, I never saw ZIRP and massive QE coming ... happy on my little farm though.

If the judges that McConnell's Senate have approved are all like Kavanaugh and Roberts, then I'll need to assume that even this sop to the Rubes is nothing more than Failure Theater, but we just won't see that the wool was pulled over our eyes in even this endeavor until well into Trump's (hopefully) second term.

Fuck it - send Radcliff to Germany
Posted by: Boswell at May 15, 2020 07:52 PM (32YRo)

Just to refresh how beautifully Trump has played this - remember that Radcliff is a House representative from here in NorthEast Texas, a *very* strong Trump supporter. He was nominated before and all of the Cucks in the Senate (even McConnell) said "oh he's too radical, and didn't have enough "Intelligence Experience." (His real crime - he's very good friends with Louie Gohmert) SO they killed Radcliffe's nomination, and he withdrew. (Stayed in his House Seat)

THEN Trump gave Grenell the Temporary Slot, while he was still Ambassador to Germany, which Trump is allowed to do without any Senate approval. And then then Grenell tore the place a new asshole, doing MORE than anyone even thought Radcliffe would do.

And then - the cherry on top. Trump renominated Radcliffe, and told the Senate "well, do you want to put my guy in charge, finally? Or do you want to let Grenell go on ripping the place up for a few more months?"

and that's where we are now.

I was waiting for you, Have No Party--or another just like you.

I love the country and what it stands for. We are the most exceptional country on the planet, populated by an extraordinary people.

We rose to this plane by virtue of being governed, not ruled, by a political system unique in history.

WE have a knack of having the right person for the right time in a particular situation, this one being no different.

In our ongoing saga, we've faced problems every bit as serious as the present, and prevailed. Just a cursory look will bear this out.

Our family has had a history of defending the country since the Revolutionary War. We span the Branches and the service ranges from one and done to a career. I am extremely proud to have played my small part in this history, thus the continual praise for this nation.

Given all this you KNOW we'll prevail, and the current mess will be one more chapter in this ongoing history.

So skip over or read this, I'm fine either and we'll just go on about providing that security blanket for you.

490 As usual, the ACE is right again.SPOT ON, ACE, on that censored McConnell. At least we got rid ofthe sell-out from Wisconsin. Unfortunately, his running mate Romney
has come in for him. Well, Ryan did not leave. He is now over at
FOX.
Back to censored McConnell. He gave O'Bama more than the DIMs did.Amazing. Traitorous. His only 'goodness' has been to get President
Trump's nominees for the courts on board. I guess for that we should besomewhat grateful. BTW, from what I have heard, the DIMs aren't run-ning much of an opposition to him. No need to. Censored McConnelis one of them.

Well, thanks for the ear\eye.
