Sources Say That Schiff Is In "Panic" As Grenell Threatens to Release the Transcripts He's Sitting On

I think the "panic" idea goes like this: Schiff has claimed that he had "direct evidence," based on the transcripts, that Trump colluded with Russia.

But, per sources, all 53 of the people Schiff interviewed said they had no evidence of such collusion.

The release of the transcripts would prove Schiff a liar.

But here's the thing:

Doesn't everyone know that already? The media and the NeverTrump "conservatives" know he was lying. They've always known, or suspected, he was lying.

But they're unprincipled, deranged monsters who have recognized a new specie of lie called the "Noble Lie." You know, like Harry Reid lying about Mitt Romney not paying taxes for ten years.

They know he's lying -- but he's lying for a good cause.

So why would the vicious partisan Schiff panic?

What, is he afraid Jake Tapper is going to call him out in an interview?

LOL.

I don't get that part of it.

Richard Grenell has vetted and declassified all of the transcripts -- and has informed Schiff of that fact.

But Schiff continues sitting on them, despite a vote from 2018 (when Congress was still controlled by Republicans) to release the transcripts publicly.

Grenell has made a veiled threat to release the transcripts on his own authority, whether Schiff likes it or not.

A big development in the fight over 53 secret interviews the House Intelligence Committee conducted during its Trump-Russia investigation. Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell has sent a letter to chairman Adam Schiff notifying him that transcripts of all 53 interviews, over 6,000 pages in all, have been cleared for public release. "All of the transcripts, with our required redactions, can be released to the public without any concerns of disclosing classified material," Grenell wrote to Schiff in a letter dated May 4.

...

In a rare moment of comity, Democrats agreed, and on September 26, 2018, the committee voted unanimously to release the transcripts. But there was a catch: The documents would have to first be checked for classified information by the Intelligence Community. So off they went to the IC -- never to be seen again.

Now, in May 2020, they're still secret. Two weeks ago, the Wall Street Journal editorial board reported that the IC had finished its review of 43 of the transcripts, but Schiff was refusing to release them. The paper said Schiff was also preventing declassification of the remaining ten transcripts.

In the letter, Grenell revealed that the 43 transcripts have been finished since June 2019. Schiff has been sitting on them all that time. Grenell said the final ten have just been finished as well. "I urge you to honor your previous public statements, and your committee's unanimous vote on this matter, to release all 53 cleared transcripts to Members of Congress and the American public as soon as possible," Grenell said. Just in case Schiff is still not interested, Grenell added,>b? "I am also willing to release the transcripts directly from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, as to ensure we comply with the unanimous and bipartisan vote to release the transcripts."

So what is Schiff's response to this?

He's digging around trying to establish that Grenell vetted the transcripts, so he can claim "All of the direct evidence I had was redacted!"

But the thing is-- they were all vetted and redacted before Grennell was appointed NSA.

Schiff will probably still make the claim anyway.

Another Noble Lie for the Democrats, the Media, and the NeverTrump Defenders of Norms.

Transcripts of House Intelligence Committee interviews that have been cleared for release show top law enforcement and intelligence officials affirming they had no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election, senior administration and intelligence community officials told Fox News on Wednesday.

This would align with the results of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation 00 which found no evidence of illegal or criminal coordination between President Trump, the Trump campaign and Russia in 2016 -- but the numerous transcribed interviews could raise further questions about committee Chairman Adam Schiff's past statements saying that there was "direct evidence" of collusion.

"Schiff is in panic mode," a senior administration official told Fox News.

....

A day later, acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell notified Schiff, D-Calif., that the redaction and declassification process was complete, and that the records were ready for release, putting the ball in Schiff's court.

However, intelligence officials told Fox News on Wednesday that Schiff has had his subcommittee staff director reaching out to heads of intelligence community agencies asking how Grenell was involved and what role Grenell -- a known Trump ally -- may have played in the declassification and redaction process.

Fox News is told, however, that the redactions were completed before Grenell took the helm as acting director this past February.

...

Another source familiar with the transcripts told Fox News that the people interviewed by the House Intelligence Committee during its Russia probe were asked whether they had evidence that Trump, himself, or the Trump campaign conspired, colluded or coordinated with Russia during the 2016 election.

Two sources familiar with the transcripts told Fox News that not one of the 53 witnesses could provide evidence of collusion.

...

"The transcripts show a total lack of evidence, despite Schiff personally going out saying he had more than circumstantial evidence that there was collusion," one source involved in House Russia investigations told Fox News.

The Muh Normz league will be defending Adam Schiff obliquely by attacking and seeking to discredit anyone who notes, honestly and accurately, that he is a partisan liar, and then they'll pat each other on the back and give each other cocoa butter handjobs while cooing over each other's Integrity and Fidelity to Eternal Principles.

You will literally never hear the Muh Normz NeverTrumpers ever speak a bad word about Adam Schiff.

Can you remember a single derogatory comment? A single disparagement of his conspiracy theorizing or manifest lies?

Nope. Because he's telling Noble Lies on behalf of the Muh Normz Ladies Auxilliaries.

Update: I think it would be very enlightening to demand the NeverTrumpers each answer, on the record, if they believe Adam Schiff to be honest and a man of Principles.

They're always setting the standard that Pro-Trump people must be willing to ritually maledict trump to prove their own honesty.

Why do they not hold themselves to the same standard?

Put them all on the record about their hero -- Adam Schiff.

Let's hear it from them, with no wiggle room or evasions, if Adam Schiff is a man of honesty and integrity and if his pronouncements about "direct evidence" should be credited as true.

108 Here is a theory on what Schiff is afraid of.

he lied to congress. The leadership. The regular members. he assured them he had all this information from these secret interviews. He's not afraid of the republicans,or the press. he's likely afraid of the legal ramifications for himself, personally, for having repeatedly lied to congress.

The only thing these assholes fear is personal consequences to themselves. To you or me, not so much. Them. They don't care about breaking the law. nope. They only care when they might be held legally accountable. They are terrified of that.

Posted by: Inspector Kemp at May 07, 2020 05:17 PM (8Xxh3)

109 Isn't there a saying that justice delayed is justice denied? In that case the entire congress have done that to conservatives for decades, since Gingrich was removed as Speaker.

In fact, conservatives were most mistreated during Paul Ryan's and Boehner's speakership, both of them ostensibly Republicans.

If you remember, Don Jr was summoned in front of Schiff's Committee, behind closed doors, to answer many hours of nonsense about a single meeting during the campaign. The meeting itself was set up on false pretenses.

It was all nonsense and a big waste of time, but the real story is that Schiff, on every single break, would immediately Tweet out secret information to the public.

Don Jr turned his phone off for the day, and when he turned it back on, had all kinds of texts from friends, highlighting the leaks as they were published on Progda outletsin real time.

It was that Walking Pimple that did all the leaking, and because he did it technically on the House property, he couldn't be prosecuted.

Zap that zit Schiff.

And today was the first I ever heard that Yates didn't know about the FBI interviewing Flynn until the agents were already on their way. No excuse to be a Young Richard.

But Axeman, you make an interesting point, Hannity is at heart a radio guy, not a TV guy.

A TV guy can just sit there and stare at the camera. A Radio guy's first rule is "no dead airtime".

Hannity cannot make the switch from one to the other. I believe this is the true issue with him. Laura Ingraham, also growing up on radio, does a better job of it by far.

And it isn't difficult if they use this simple rule he should of learned as a kid:

Posted by: Ace

The answer is that they will act totally surprised, clutch their pearls and wonder how a man of such proven INTEGRITY could ever DECEIVE them!

Remember, a key part of the game Never Trumpers play is always pretending that Democrats are totally honest. Then, when the NTs fall for an obvious lie, they act all shocked, shocked! that the Dems aren't honest.

They then turn around and print columns about how the Democrats always lie, and if you give money to their rag, they will tell you the TRUTH that the mainstream media hides.

Oh, and buy cruise tickets.

This is the same shit as the Covington Kids. And look at little "Spit on the Cross" Frankovitch getting his own byline 'n stuff!

275 How to get a good man to lie, cheat, and break the law?

1) Convince them that the person you want them to lie, cheat, and break the law over is a despicable person.

2) Convince them that only they can stop the evil person. And that if they don't, there will be unspeakable consequences.

3) Flatter them. They are the most important part of the story, and will live forever as a hero.

4) Convince them that there is no other legal recourse.

All of this has been done in the case of Trump. These people believe Trump is an absolute unprecedented evil, that they are heroes, and history will thank them for lying, cheating, and breaking the law. When they realize the jog is up, they will whine and complain and say they are good people. They will go to their graves never believing the truth - they were dupes of the Dems and the media.

290 Today's Dem-Media Complex meme about Schiff being accused of lying about what he had on Trump is: So what if he did? Politicians say the darndest things every day, ha ha ha.

Hmmm. I fail to recall any other politician saying, in public, that the President is a traitor, an active agent of a foreign government who is working against the interests of the US, and he (the politician) has evidence of all of it. In fact, he said, some of the evidence is in plain sight.

That's not simply every day insults aimed at a political opponent.

And when that accuser fails to produce said overwhelming evidence of treason?

That's not simply stretching the truth a bit for political purposes. To me, that's illegally working to subvert the legal Government of the United States of America.

291 Listening to the Schitf interview somebody linked. Schitf is so dependent on framing the Don Jr. emails in the way that supports the narrative he's trying to sell.

Don Jr. wasn't offered "dirt". He was offered dirt in the general sense, but the dirt was specifically "official documents" (not emails) that could "incriminate Hillary Clinton in her dealings with Russia" (not expose that the DNC shafted Bernie).

It's unbelievably bizarre that the left wants to prosecute people--not hardly by the standard of a reasonable doubt--but from the SHEER narrative and framing.

311 Schiff's issue is if he said anything in a libelous way in front of a camera (not on the house floor - which grants him immunity) knowing full well it was BS. He can be sued.

Second, how will he bring any kind of case as a house committee chair on anything and be taken seriously? First rebuttal would be: "see tape/date of his remarks on Russia. And we're now suppose to believe this guy?"

He can't ever lead another investigation on anything.

Ace is right, Jake/Todd/Rachel aren't ever going to ask him another question on air. 319 while we're talking about redactions, there was an interesting thing I noticed while folks were talking about those hand-written "do we get flynn to lie?" notes.

beside a couple of paragraphs, there's a small, circular redaction. what could possibly fit under that circle that would need redaction? i can think of only two things, an "x" indicating "nope, this is not the goal" or a checkmark indicating "yep, this is it". only one of these would be embarrassing to the fbi. there would be no need to redact the other.

322 I think it is fair use to quote XiNN's hot-take on this matter:

Washington (CNN)The Justice Department is dropping the criminal case against President Donald Trump's first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, whose lies about his contacts with Russia prompted Trump to fire him three years ago and special counsel Robert Mueller to flip him to cooperate in the Russia investigation.

The request to drop the case, filed with a federal judge in DC District Court on Thursday, is a sudden end to a protracted legal battle that's lately been fertile ground for Trump to attack the early Russia investigation and former FBI leadership he dislikes.
The court must still formally approve the request.
Flynn twice, before two separate judges, affirmed his December 2017 agreement to plead guilty to charges that he lied to the FBI about his interactions with the then-Russian ambassador during the Trump presidential transition. But last year, he fired his original defense team and waged a campaign to try to get a judge to reverse his guilty plea.

In its filing, the department condemned the FBI's work when it interviewed Flynn in the West Wing in the first weeks of the Trump presidency.
The Justice Department called the FBI's counterintelligence investigation into Flynn for his contacts with Russia "a no longer justifiably predicated investigation," according to the filing.

In other words, he's guilty as fuck but his slimy lawyers got him off somehow.

When you applied back then they started with everyone in the same room and they showed you a video telling you that priority would be given to minorities and women. It wasn't even disguised. It was right out in front of you. Then they give you one of those tests where you pencil in the circle for each answer...no discussion, no clarification...just a concrete answer on a number of questions that have debatable ways to answer. Obviously, it was one of those psychology type tests. Apparently, I didn't fit the bill.

Keep in mind that, in spite of the obvious malfeasance within the DOJ, the FBI, the CIA, etc, etc, nobody resigned in protest over what was perpetrated.

I can understand that one would want to preserve a government job, and the government pension. These days, however, when Shelley Luther gets 500K on a GoFundMe in a matter of days because she stood on a principle - an American principle - there are more than enough of us who would support the first person that took a courageous stand on behalf of the institutions we used to love.

McCabe got $500K. Squeaky Blasey Ford got $1 MM. Comey gets a book deal. Anonymous gets a book deal. The Left is more than willing to take care of their own. We are more than willing to take care of ours.

The most disheartening thing about these developments is that no one within the Deep State saw fit to trust us to do that for them.

What did the older kids get? Dad's career was a shit-show, and he was constantly on the move. How many carrier deployments did they endure even before the shoot-down?

I think some of them have followed the family tradition of Navy service, but that's all kept quiet because then people would know that McCain had kids that aren't a bunch of spoiled crybabies. That's not simply every day insults aimed at a political opponent.

And when that accuser fails to produce said overwhelming evidence of treason?

That's not simply stretching the truth a bit for political purposes. To me, that's illegally working to subvert the legal Government of the United States of America.

On the release of these, I can write that name down so I don't forget it.

It bothers the hell out of them. Goldberg's basically a daydrunk picking popcorn out of his scraggly beard.

French lives on Twitter where he gets his jollies picking on legitimate religious leaders and pretending there isn't something seriously shady about buying a baby girl from Africa.

Kevin Williamson is the ne plus ultra of humiliation. Read what his ex-wife wrote about his anger issues and pathological hatred of women.

Weird the NR would push out Mark Steyn for telling a Rat Pack joke yet tolerate Williamson after he was *formally charged* for assaulting a woman at the opera.

They're all losers and misfits. Every damn one. They get together and flirt-fight over who has to eat the cracker because that's all they have left.

414 407, Folks,
The truth is that a large proportion of GOP officeholders hate Trump for revealing the DC grift machine--in a decadent republic, all the elites are out for themselves as they know the music on the carousel is going to end the ride soon.

The members of the Uniparty care only for themselves and their friends, families, and clientele so as to feed their greed for power, money, celebrity, and sex.

And that officeholder greed for power, money, and sex is how the real oligarchs of the US run the Uniparty. Spend some time looking up the jobs of spouses, children, and siblings of these folks.
