Missouri Informants Who Snitched on Fellow Citizens For Violating Stay-At-Home Orders Surprised To Learn That Their Snitching is Subject to Open Records Laws

I think this phenomenon of people rushing to play the role of Uncompensated Volunteer Informant for the state is closely related to the Surveillance Society that social media has bequeathed us, with everyone eager to "call out" and "cancel" other fellow human beings.

Fuck these people. If they feel threatened -- good. If they resent the all-seeing eyes of the Panopticon -- good.

Enjoy the hell you made, brick by miserable, hateful brick.

Residents in Missouri were encouraged to snitch on businesses that broke Gov. Mike Parson's (R) stay-at-home orders. A website and email address were launched so residents could anonymously report non-essential businesses being open. What residents didn't expect, however, was for their personal information to be released.

Under Missouri's Sunshine Law, members of the public can access records and meetings. Jared Totsch decided to file a Sunshine Law request. When he received the information, he shared the information on Facebook.

“Here ya go. The gallery of snitches, busybodies, and employees who rat out their own neighbors and employers over the Panic-demic," the Facebook post stated.

...

Totsch was unapologetic, especially for those employees who may lose their job for turning in their employers.

"I'd call it poetic justice, instant Karma, a dose of their own medicine," he said. "What goes around, comes around. They are now experiencing the same pain that they themselves helped to inflict on those they filed complaints against."

Patty, baby, let's talk. The right thing for you to do is to stay home if you're worried about your underlying conditions. The right thing to do is not - indeed, it is *never* - to snitch on people engaged in legal business and harming no one. 141 This has become an open assault on free enterprise, if it was not that from the start. IL has more draconian measures in place now than when (fake) pandemic was at its peak. Rural areas get the same rules, so far.

I say fake pandemic ... maybe the spread across countries part is real, but the deadliness is not real ... since maybe 2-5% show any symptoms at all, and maybe 5% of those (0.01% of all exposed) need the HCQ+Z treatment (and then they get sent home to recover and be watched). Then a few of those might need further treatment.

Death by Unemployment does not matter, not pretty graphics on that reality.

But we governors are ordering doctors NOT to prescribe what is effective but might give Trump credit. And the real numbers are padded just to scare people. The real pandemic is the Hysterical Response, which media is injecting into everyone that will listen to their lies.

CBS acknowledges staging, but says it was not them who did it. They blame the health center.

Biden visited this same center, months earlier than the CBS visit, and was hosted for a campaign stop there by Michigan Gov. Uberfuhrer Gretchen Half-Whit, where she- get this! - blasted the long lines for testing and blamed PDJT! Shocking right? I mean, it's almost like the whole story was created by politicians from start to finish and they bamboozled CBS, a network often bamboozled by Democrats looking to score political points of Republicans. Probably the Rhodes family attitude towards how to influence the news has absolutely nothing to do with the culture at CBS, now that Big Brother Rhodes is retired.

205 I've commented at intervals how one of the most overtly totalitarian, unAmerican things I've ever seen is a poster campaign in which the NY State set up a government tip line for citizens to report... wait for it... "incidents of bias."

"Incidents" of bias. Not even "hate crimes" or "violence or threats" motivated by supposed "hate." And not just "hate" but "bias." That is, report any incidents of Wrongthink to your friendly State government. And, incidentally peasant, you have been warned about public expressions of wrongthink.

Went largely unnoticed and unreported because all this occurs in the hotbed of Blue Totalitarianism known as New York State, but the overreach into Official Sanction for Unpermitted Thought is astonishing.

243 141 This has become an open assault on free enterprise, if it was not that from the start.

Women of childbearing age in Romania were required to take a state-administered pregnancy test every three months. An agency spokesperson said that "while masks have their place, masks are not the only source of protection." The Center is urging Americans to wear a totem to ward off the virus. According to the press release, the totems "contain a combination of obsidian, bird feathers and a vial of London dry gin" and "should be warn around the neck using a leather cord." Many State Governors have been quick to implement the protocol and vow mandatory compliance. Animal rights groups as well as Haitian witch doctors have filed suits to enjoin the protocol relying on a variety of theories from inhumane treatment of animals to cultural appropriation.

344 Well, this is an article from 2017 about the restrictions on local meat processing:

https://tinyurl.com/ybpdl5z3

The Federal government went out of its way to put small meat processors out of business. That's why there are too few places to handle it now. makes it more likely to have E-coli outbreaks and makes it easier for the Chinese to buy those places. I think TN was one of the states that carved out an exception for the local meat processors.

358 Could be just timing, luck, variation of some kind, but to this day I have yet to encounter, or even hear about, any "Karen" activity - except here or elsewhere online. Might have been - hard to know for sure - some unusual level of caution or anxiety manifested by elderly people in public. Apart from that, pretty much normal. Store people friendly and horsing around as usual, everybody helpful, nobody seeming the least bit stressed or anything.

And there may actually be a real kink in some of the meat supply pipeline, entirely due to the bottleneck at processing (caused by C-19 cases, + panic, + perhaps the nature/physical arrangement in processing factories). So I'm expecting a run on meat - though the stores still have the "limit of 2 per family" signs, from earlier, when the general panic buying affected that section too.

This morning, meat section of two stores about 75% normal.

377 I think this phenomenon of people rushing to play the role of Uncompensated Volunteer Informant for the state is closely related to the Surveillance Society that social media has bequeathed us, with everyone eager to "call out" and "cancel" other fellow human beings.

It's a liberal thing.

This despite the fact that the water shortage was up north, in Liberal Land. SD county gets its water from the Colorado River, and had every bit as much water as it ever has.

Overall, it is pretty greasy, but good in flavor. So it would do well in dishes where you would be using the lard as a base such as in soups like chowder. It is not top quality or DIY lean, but if you get it by the case, it is economical, has a crazy shelf-life, and a nice way to keep a storage of protein.

The only people who support this are the pbraindead lefty zombies.

This is feeding in to that type, the ultra-paranoid neurotic crazy progressive. They love this shit, because it feeds into all those pockets of mental illness residing in the pool table of their brains.

Don't you just pass them?

For what it is worth, here in So-Cal...the grocery store customers have been pretty chill and "live and let live."

The vast, vast majority of them are wearing masks.

The grocery store I go to has those one way directions on the isles.

Some people follow them. Some people don't. But in the times I've been there...I've never actually seen anyone yell or hassle anyone who didn't follow the arrows.

It was kinda like everybody just agreed to go along to get along. So if you feel like following the arrow directions...cool. And if you don't...that's cool too.

And I never really saw any grocery isle traffic jams.

We all just did our thing.

It's funny, the only social shaming I ever got during this lock down was for driving and talking on my cell phone.

I was talking to my brother in Hawaii.

I had my cell phone in hand, pressed up to my ear. As I slowed down to a traffic light, a guy with his family at the cross walk frowned and yelled at me to get off my cell phone.

I glanced at him, gave him a little wave indicating "yes, I heard you"...and then just continued to talk. Didn't flip him off, or honk the horn or anything.

He frowned again, and then chose to cross the street with his family with no further fuss or bother.

So it all worked out OK.

I wear one in stores because my allergies are out of control right now and I do not want to put up with the crap from other people when I am sniffling away.

I went to Lowe's (food Lowe's) and there is a sign saying masks are mandatory and there is some poor kid assigned to stand there telling people this.

While I was getting a cart, four people came in without them and all of them ignored the kid who told them they had to wear one.

Oddly enough, the store wanted their money and didn't ask any of them to leave. Funny that.

492 I will welcome the end of the over-done hugging crap, if that is one result of this. I noticed it immediately when it started back in the 90s - replacement of a handshake with the hugging thing, where it had not culturally existed before (between guys, outside special/compelling situations, farewells/reunions, adrenazlized s**t during sports, etc). As I recall, it was - surprise - those in the most soy-soaked and SJW environments/areas who started it (people I'd known for many years, who suddenly started the hugging thing).

None of these people had any cross-cultural experience, men hugging or kissing on the cheek (Russia, MidEast) was long the normal custom. It was entirely an affectation added to their behavior.

Skipping the handshake is something I've done for a few years to reduce chance of a cold, seemingly with some success. Those miffed by this are welcome to the usual menu I offer: eff yourself, commit suicide, or emigrate.

497 There is a processing bottleneck, there is not shortage of product.

Posted by: runner

There WILL be a shortage of product. From last night's open thread:

Here's the meat shortage from an Omaha farmer. This is what some of us have been saying about animals in the pipeline and bottlenecks:

This came from an Omaha farmer, pay attention!
Huge meat shortages coming our way very soon.

Read the comments from more information from the Owner.

"After several days of deliberating with myself, I finally made the decision to take those photos last night. I needed an avenue of some kind to let people know what's happening in our country that will affect you and every American to some degree if measures are not taken immediately. There are 3 areas that I will cover. One is how this affects the American consumer, second is what is in store for the livestock producers and what they are facing. Thirdly is the dismal reality that many of the animals on the farms and ranches in our country will be facing.

As many of you are aware due to COVID-19 many of our packing plants that kill animals and process the meat which in turn goes to the shelves of stores and supermarkets have had to close due to the safety and well being of the workers.

What has now happened which is NOT being reported on is that many or most of the rest of the packing plants are only running at 50-75% capacity due to many workers refusing to work due to being scared of contracting COVID-19. So, in turn, the meatpackers are not able to kill the market-ready animals at the same percentage levels. This WILL create a shortage of meat at your local retail stores. Due to the inelasticity of the market prices of meat will skyrocket. Simple economics 101.

What we are being told by our government and government officials is that we have plenty of meat and that there is nothing to be concerned about.

What I am about to tell you is going to derail the happy go lucky "We are all in this alone, together" slogan and if things don't change soon the videos you see of people fighting for Black Friday deals will look like a walk in the park compared to what is going to happen at the meat counters in a few weeks. As you read this now retail orders are not being filled across the country. We do have meat in cold storage but that will only last for a short amount of time.

So here is what is happening across the country in the poultry, beef, pork industries. I can tell you first hand because it is happening to us and absolutely no one is reporting on it, I'm guessing due to the fact that they don't want anyone to know. In the last 2 weeks packing plants across the country have been turning farmers away who were bringing market-ready animals to them. For those of you who don't understand how livestock systems run I will give a quick overview. In general, the livestock industry runs on small margins per animal due to the efficiencies in the industry as a whole. For the most part, the killing capacity or the animals that can be slaughtered any given day is relatively close to the number of slaughter animals available. This is essentially the model that the industry is based on. So we as livestock producers increase or decrease supply as the market allows.

This is where it gets ugly. From conception to harvest in the pork industry it takes 10 months from breeding until pigs walk onto a truck to harvest them. Everyday pigs are being born 52 weeks a year in order to capture efficiencies. So the pipeline is continuously full of animals this is also true in the chicken industry. In the past couple of weeks, packers started telling farmers they will only take a small portion of the animals they have ready for the market. This, in turn, has caused the price the farmer gets for their animal to plummet. Now that there is less meat for sale to the retailer, the cut-out price from the packers has taken off which will be passed on to the consumers.

In all of my years as a pork producer, I've never seen it this bad before. We have had bad times in 1998, then in 2008 when the swine flu decimated hog prices but nothing is going to compare to what is going to happen over the next few weeks and months.

With packers telling farmers they can only take a small portion of their animals and some are even being told they will not take any at all a huge log jam effect is happening. Every week baby pigs are still being born by the thousands, they are normally moved out of the farrowing sheds and into nurseries and then on to finishing buildings before they eventually are shipped to packers. With buildings full, farmers have nowhere to go with incoming babies. When all the building space is taken up there will be only one way to manage this problem. We will be forced to euthanize entire buildings of pigs. Farmers are already losing money at an alarming rate. Then being forced to keep market-ready hogs that have cost $130 apiece to raise with nowhere to take them so farmers are going to be looking at killing these pigs and having no way to regain the loss. In a nutshell, farmers will be losing so much money so fast there is no way the government will be able to step in before the banks foreclose on them.

Trump said Friday they are going to help the farmers by buying meat for schools etc. and send stimulus money which will only be a bandaid for an industry that is bleeding from the jugular. Producers selling 1,000 pigs per week will have upside-down cash flows of over half a million dollars in 4 weeks' time if they are shut off from selling their pigs. Not only that but farmers will have to continue to feed those pigs. So farmers will have to make the choice whether or not they are going to cut losses and kill pigs by the thousands or feed their families. I know baby pigs are being gassed and sows are being aborted. I don't want to have to make these decisions but my brothers and I have had conversations on which pigs we will have to euthanize to free up the room as the pipeline continues to back up.

I love what I do and I love my animals. I do everything every day to save and take care of them to the best of my ability. I have taken 2 days off since September of last year and I know there are thousands of farmers out there that are doing the same. If you want people like myself and my family members in charge of your meat supply rather than a large corporation then I beg you to share this post. Maybe the government can use the military personnel to work in the packing plants until this crisis is over to keep us from a national meltdown. This needs to be seen by our senators and governors across the country."

I'm not sure that's true, but it's a question I've been struggling with. Most of my peeps are liberals. They're kind to children, their dogs like them, they meet the basic criteria of good people.

If you asked them directly do you favor increased state power over the individual they'd say no.

But they're uniformly pro-lockdown and think that openers are knuckle draggers.

My best guess is that they're conformists and that's what the herd is doing. I have no other idea why my red and blue friends fell immediately into warring camps.

You'd think smart people (all of my friends are smart) would think about things and reach heterodox conclusions.

I haven't been poo-pooing the coming meat shortage, because it's just common sense that when systems start breaking down (like their supply chain problems), something's going to happen. We've never really been without. As a rule, you want some item at the grocery store, it's there. Every time. But if they can't process the product and the product can't get to the grocers, there will be a shortage. We're getting ready to find out.

This chinese flu lockdown/shutdown "until it's safe" is as absurd as closing all schools until kids are "safe" from guns.

In other words, at this point, we are all being HELD HOSTAGE for evil Political Purposes/Demands, same as a muslim skyjacker.

537 all of my friends are smart

The idea that smart people come up with smart answers is, as near as I can tell, false. Lots of smart people believe dumb things. Quiz anyone outside of their very limited field(s) of experience or expertise (and not everyone really has a field of expertise), and you'll be able to compile an encyclopedia of error. It's why Buckley said he'd rather be governed by 500 people selected from the phone book than the faculty of Harvard (and that's back when Harvard arguably still had standards).

539 @497 Thank you rickb223. Livestock producers have always been at the mercy of packing plants. Now one of the major packing plant operators is a Chinese company. Almost all of the major packing plants hire large numbers of "refugees" from Muslim countries and benefit from wages being driven down.

I don't know where this rant is going. I'm just mad as hell.

540 Just anecdotally, at the Burger King drive thru today, we thanked the lady at the window for having hamburger. She said they didn't know for how long, because their wholesale supplier had just gone bankrupt.
We have heard the Wendy's is out of hamburger.

542 I'll never understand why adults believe they can make decisions for someone. Their lack of thought on these small business owners losing their livelihood is astounding.
I sympathise that they are immune compromised. My spouse is too. Which is why I do wear a mask gloves for them. But that's my choice, as it is another's to believe with some backing its all shit and don't.

544 When East Germany fell people stormed the Stasi building mostly to prevent records from being destroyed. The Stasi had already shredded lots of files but many were saved. They have spent years putting shredded paper back together. I some cases the Stasi mixed shredded documents with a mix of concrete and other corrosive materials.

549 But if they can't process the product and the product can't get to the grocers, there will be a shortage. We're getting ready to find out.

On the bright side, this will be the thing about the shutdown that actually, finally hurts the elites who are basically untouched by all this crap and love to support it. They aren't losing their jobs, they aren't hurt by shutdown, they are basically ignoring it when they want to and going out to do what they want.

But the food shortages will hit everyone, everywhere, no matter how rich and connected. And that will leverage them into suddenly deciding the second wave isn't happening and look at how testing is showing how many are carrying but not sick and we should have opened up months ago.

At least that's how I see it working out.

554 Snitches need to remember that if they think snitching is OK then those who snitch on THEM are only following the rules that they set the tone for.
In other words, if you snitch, then the snitchers can expect someone to snitch on them for snitching. Turnabout IS fair play.
