Maria Bartiromo Presses Lindsey Graham on Whether He'll Honor His Promise to Subpoena FBI and IC Officials Behind RussiaGate;
Miss Lindsey Hedges

He's a deep state operative tricking conservatives into thinking there's a real investigation into the deep state.

Following the release of documents related to the Michael Flynn case, Bartiromo reminded Graham on Sunday that he has repeatedly assured her that the Senate Judiciary Committee would seek testimony from current and former Justice Department and FBI officials as she committed to reporting on a "cabal" that allegedly tried to undermine President Trump. She asserted that Graham has yet to make good on his promises, to which the senator stressed that he doesn't want to interfere in the Justice Department's criminal inquiry of the matter.

...

[Bartiromo[ went over instances dating back more than a year in which she said Graham vowed to call and subpoena witnesses, -- such as former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI agent Peter Strzok, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein -- promised a "deep dive" into alleged surveillance abuse, and pledged to put a stop to any future misconduct.

"You are the only one with subpoena power right now in the Republican Party," Bartiromo said, adding, "We need you to call these individuals down to testify as witnesses. People want you to move on this, senator. Are you going to do it?"

Graham responded in the affirmative but couched that assurance by saying timing is a factor.

"Yes, but I have told you, and I will tell you again, I'm not going to interfere in an ongoing criminal matter," he said. "This is a rule of law nation. I'm a politician. My goal is to write a report of how it got off the rails."

The Senate Judiciary Committee chairman further promised he will carry out his oversight role the "right" way.

Oh, he'll posture like a Maori warrior on Fox and Friends, though.

opening at the end of July but they won't need everyone when that
happens.

A whole bunch of casino business was elderly people
and they for the most part are not going back because of their fear of
the virus thanks to the media. They are predicting it will take 18-24
months after they reopen to get back to half of their business they had
before this started.

My son turns 39 next week, still time
for him to look for another line of work. He has been with that Casino

Not so much.

But SC has machine politics based on regions (roughly) of the state. There are 6, basically, aligned with the Congressional districts - though there are 7 districts - two of those are the same powerbase.

Columbia (the capital), Charleston, Greenvile/Spartanburg, Myrtle Beach, the black vote, and Edgefield.

The Edgefield machine is where Strom came from and that machine is now Grahams.

Definitely worth watching.

I did have to research one thing the Doctor said.

She mentioned that in 1980 a law on patents was changed, and I couldn't figure out why that was a big deal.

Well, in 1980 an executive order was put in place, so that anyplace that did research on a government grant, but was NOT government property itself (like a University) would get the patent, although the Government would get an automatic license to use said idea.

That huge because our government does not actually make anything. Thus, the patent holder earns money by licensing it to a company, and then the government then buys the product.

As for individual choice, if people FEEL better about being out in public, with masks and gloves and whatever the hell else, then it serves that purpose as well.

Well yes, there is an ongoing criminal investigation. But Graham has a long history of big talk and little action.

At this point I find little use for more hearings. The House did exhaustive hearings and most of the transcripts are still being held by Schiff although it appears Grenell is going to push them out anyway. It's the same group of people that would be interviewed in the Senate.

It's really all up to Durham and his team at this point. Graham's hearings aren't going to indict anyone.

28% of the elected Republican Party is old school Democrat. Perfectly happy with government but would like a little bit of freedom and prosperity and military might, and isn't necessarily for abortion.

70% is Current Democrat/Hidden Communist. They will lay it on the line for absolutely nothing other than paycheck or power. Pretending to be a Republican pays well and is an easy life because what exactly is difficult about Failure Theater?

He can't be seen making cheap political war with governors in the opposing party while this is going on. I thought he would have gone real hard at Cuomo with that "essential jobs" crack he made - but Trump has stayed on the side of quality leadership. If he starts a war with Democrat governors, the media will exploit it, say Trump is politicizing the response, and that will break through the low-fo voters.

As most everyone knows by now Trump is extremely savvy about what's important, and you have to trust the process because *nothing* right now is more important than him getting reelected. Nothing. Even to those who are suffering and losing everything, because the suffering and losing everything will be exponential under the next D.

Yeah, I read that to:
---
*I* am not "freedom obsessed". I'm actually, on balance, pretty adjusted to some level of "collectivism". In my opinion, "collectivism" is how we collectively decide the principles we conduct ourselves on.

I understand that there are always winners and losers in a collective process. Some people don't get their way, and they have to, for the good of the social compact, tolerate the decisions of others. I get all that. We can't all have the representative we want at the lever of power.

A BIG, however, though: I don't trust a government that invalidates the entire reason for the shut-down by forcing COVID-positive patients into nursing homes--THE place where they will do the most damage--on the asinine confusion over the 14th amendment. And I don't trust a press that doesn't call out the governors who are INVALIDATING the entire stated reason for the lockdowns, because they are on "the right side".

That's bullshit. I do not abide bullshit. I do not believe that the people would collectively agree upon bullshit.

380 I simply don't accept some of the notions of what is or is not "moral". I find the definitions often offered up to be pretty damn subjective as well as self serving.

But hey - snide away. I'm sure your definitions are superior to all others.

But you do accept it. Because your stated principle is easily realized by many to be a moral one.

You can consider it "snide", but I would submit that you don't deep dive into these considerations because you followed up your original recognition of equality with a claim that you *don't accept* what you, in review, *do accept*.

It's not snide, because it's fine with me if you become an unwitting illustration of what you're trying to in some way counter. But, I'm going to point out the illustration, nonetheless.

Are you religious? I think this is where the disconnect sets in.
Posted by: thathalfrican - sucker free on my phone at May 06, 2020 02:14 PM (SMJvk)

Undecided. "Religion" seems fine. The people that practice it seem to be almost as self-serving and malevolent as those who don't - at least in my experience. Tyranny of the well intentioned and all that.

I don't trust "morality" as the deciding argument for anything. It's vague - it's not really concretely defined - and it's easily twisted.

I'm either uniquely moral or completely immoral - depending on who you ask.

I would guess that's what he or she is "protesting", is the "need" to import God into the non-empirical "equality" of man.

He or she, would probably cite something like "Reason" or "Rationality" as the principle by which they discern these things. But rationality is a quality of process--it doesn't determine inputs.

383 Posted by: Just How Things Are at May 06, 2020 02:21 PM (K4eq3)

If you're undecided your stance makes sense. The bible governs my morality, I fall short of it but hey.

384 He or she, would probably cite something like "Reason" or "Rationality" as the principle by which they discern these things.

Nope - Reason is as easily twisted as Morality. That shit is all in the eye of the beholder. Ordering Society based on either means a constant battle to define the words.

Fuck that. It won't last. It can't.

385 313---The same people elect both bodies. How often is a Senator from a state different than the ruling party of the state's legislature?
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at May 06, 2020 02:00 PM (KZzsI)
-------------------------
It happens.
Until the last election (2019,) the Virginia Senate was GOP but both US Senators are Dems.

VA has gone blue as far as statewide elections go because NoVA provides a sure margin of victory for any Dem. But it's a bit trickier with off-year elections coming out of many districts.

BTW, I think one of the most devastating changes to the American polity was when states were forced to change senate districts to correspond with population.

Back in the days when the city of Bumfuck and the city of Richmond each had one senator, when Boondock County and Crowded Suburb County each had one, the state senate was damned conservative and rural areas had a lot of say.

But then SCOTUS decided that setting up a bicameral legislature on EXACTLY the same principles as the federal Constitution mysteriously violated .... the Constitution.

Posted by: Modern Puritans at May 06, 2020 02:45 PM (Eicbe)

387 The mask deniers are becoming their own cult.
Virtue signaling how much better they are than those of us that choose
to wear one because it helps , not because we think it prevents 100% of
all transmission. They are getting as tiresome as the motorcycle riders
who scream pridefully about not wearing a helmet.

Posted by: Jen the original at May 06, 2020 02:07 PM (+4yX/)

The problem is that masks are marginally effective, at best. If you are wearing an N95, not touching your face, not getting sprayed in the eyes, and washing your hands, you're in good shape. You have a cloth mask, it's not doing much. "But it blocks aerosols!" Sure, and all of that is built up on your mask. Touch that just once and anything you touch is contaminated. Plus, it's not blocking fine particulates.

I don't care if someone wants to wear one. In my opinion, it's a worthless exercise in trying to control something you have little control over for a disease that is like the flu in impact.

388 Phfukin Fraud Graham has lied like this before... after the concocted impeachment ended on 5 Feb, over a totally legitimate PDT call w/Ukraine Pres. Volodymyr Zelensky. On 6 Feb. Graham claimed, again publicly, he'd "launch an investigation next week" with subpoenas issued to Schiff, Nadler, Atkinson, Vindman, etc. which would have been Wednesday the following week on 12 Feb.

He also promised (again) as also then chair of sen. Judiciary Committee he'd investigate Muh Russia pulling in Co-me, McCabe, et. al. under subpoena as he did after Ukrain impeachment attempt. Again, nothing happened. But he's that obnoxious self-aggrandized Cuck fbi lapel wearing "rank-'n-file" suck-up Sean Hannity. Another of Hannity's go to muts.

Now, watch the stewpidt normies in S.C. re-elect this Cuck. The general ignorance of the elctorate is why we're perpetually in this mess... and too bad appointments made by PDT, i.e. Wray (arguably the worst), Tillerson and several more.

389 Never gonna happen. The US Senate is a club which protects Senators. The Senate Intelligence committee was up to it's neck in all the fake, illegal, and seditious shenanigans against Flynn and Trump. Burr (R) and Warner (D) and their aids were involved in the plotting and leaking along with TDS McCain. So the only Republican US Senator in the Republican controlled senate who can subpeona records and people refuses to do it. Remember that the next time the RNC or Republican Senate Campaign Committee asks for money.

390 Agreed, Ace.

Miss Lindsey was giving excuses about not going after The Hag during an interview one day. I found myself talking to the radio. Make that screaming at no one and only succeeding in venting frustration for a fleeting moment. There is not a statute of limitations on Treason. If he means any of what he says, he will investigate treason, damn it.

He is indeed a gas bag posturing like a Maori warrior.

Pretty sure he would get exposed. He may as well take the fifth.

Posted by: Denny Crane! at May 06, 2020 03:26 PM (gJ9O0)

391 It was because state legislatures wanted people in the Senate who did what they wanted, not what the senators themselves wanted.

There was a lot of recalling and resignations because senators wouldn't follow through on orders.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison, back to random thoughts at May 06, 2020 02:01 PM (UWqZJ)

...and if the 17th Amendment were ever repealed, you'd get Senators from blue states with marching orders to have the feds pay for their states' mismanagement. For starters.
