Biden's Appearance on Morning Joe Is His Most Damaging Appearance Yet

Mika tried to protect Biden -- she specifically did not mention the eight women who have filed complaints against Biden for inappropriate touching.

She specifically omitted any mention of the five contemporaneous hearsay witnesses who report that Tara Reade told them about this allegation in the 90s. She certainly didn't mention Reade's mother appearing on Larry King to mention the "problems" Tara had had with her "prominent senator" boss.

Mika certainly did not press Biden on his claim that we must believe Christine Blowsey without any evidence at all -- and in fact flat denials from the people she claimed were witnesses -- or contrast that with the much weightier pile of evidence on Tara Reade's side.

Instead, she gave Biden an out: Just agree that we can search your University of Delaware records for any mention of sexual harassment.

Mika must have known that any such complaint would have been scrubbed and bleach-bitted long ago.

So she was asking him to consent to a search that she knew would be fruitless. And she was offering him this out by design.

But even so -- He still refused, citing preposterous reasoning for his refusal.

And then he just melted down and stared at the camera for an uncomfortable five or six seconds as his senile brain tried to remember what the hell they were even talking about:

Note the odd claim Joe Biden is making: He can't let anyone search the records for Tara Reade because that search might, accidentally, reveal his positions on public issues.

What a bizarre, incoherent claim! I can't let you look for papers about my personal transgressions because you might accidentally stumble across papers about my public positions and political stances!

JeffB.'s "worried" that a Democrat might have committed sexual assault.

What a #Warrior.

Note the one name Biden specifically mentions that he doesn't want his public records to illuminate -- Vladimir Putin.

Biden had a different position when Bloomberg was running -- at that time, Biden took the position that a candidate should not be permitted any hidey-holes and that maximum disclosure was necessary.

Now, of course, it's all so much more nuanced.

Matt Schlapp calls bullshit on Biden's claim that any sexual harassment complaint would be found in the National Archives. No, he says: Congress has long exempted itself from having to send their public records anywhere.

That's how they keep all their many, many payouts for sexual harassment complaints secret.

Lefties are scrambling to delete the past -- Kirstin Powers is claiming that hardly anyone called for Kavanaugh to withdraw; they just wanted Blasey-Ford "heard."

Mollie Hemingway points out the entire Democrat Judiciary Committee demanded that Kavanaugh withdraw over the Julie Swetnick weekly gang rape party allegations.

And here's Sundown Joe sundowning again:

Here's that five seconds of Lost Time again:

Replacing Joe after he's won the most delegates and not letting the guy with the second most delegates is a recipe for a Democratic civil war.

If Biden were to be replaced, who should replace him?

Certainly not Bernie, who's crazy and scares the Establishment.

How about one of the other thousand candidates who were all too weak to come in better than third in the delegate count?

Or how about someone who didn't even run at all?

There are going to be factions within the party who will be super pissed about any choice other than Biden, even those who didn't want Biden in the first place. All because the established process will get completely turned on its head and the true believers of the party will get screwed over in a hugely transparent and public manner.

They have to stick with Biden.

Unless he dies.

The Democratic establishment knew he was past his sell-by date before Sanders threatened to do to their party what Trump has done to the GOP. I don't think they're going to throw over one of their biggest wedge issues for this guy.

Replacing Biden will increase their chances of beating Trump. Why would they *not* do it? (Ask Al Franken for his opinion about this.) As Carville said, it all comes down to political power, and they know that.

Miles of beach, we're permitted to park, install umbrellas, tents, picnic, whatever. Saw only one pair of fairies wearing masks. Plenty of mixed groups, meaning eight to ten kids dads and moms from multiple households, together.

Stopped at Aldi to get some groceries coming back, and we were practically the only customers there not wearing masks.

The stores are showing OPEN signs. The restaurants open tomorrow.

The beach scene and the Aldi's scene made me realize where this thing is going. Us mask-free freedom-loving people will have the parks, the beaches, the stores, and the restaurants to ourselves for the forseeable future, while that portion, and I think it is way way more than half, stay cooped and masked.

There will always be roughly 30% of the country that will vote for their party's nominee no matter what. That's true of both sides.

The question then becomes what happens with the forty percent of people who don't fall into that 60%?

The biggest block is probably moderates and independents who waver back and forth, choosing nominees on stupid reasons (the electability circle jerk), but there's still large blocks of people like committed socialists. The kind of people who have kept the Bernie flame alive for about five years now.

These people are not going to take that sort of loss laying down. "Oh, Biden's dropping out and you're not giving it to the number 2 guy that I love? Fuck you."

Here's a possible next step Joe's handlers may try:

Joe suddenly remembers that his detailed, annotated, daily Senate schedules are in the U Delaware archives. He says they will show that on the day Reade says Joe attacked her, he was doing important PUBLIC appearances in the Senate, every second of that day, from 6 AM to 11 PM.

Someone is probably inserting that schedule in the U Delaware files today.

Ace is absolutely right, they are not being as hard on him as they can. They aren't going after him like he was a Republican.

But they are going after him, simply because they think he will lose the race due to this issue. So they want him gone and replaced with someone else to beat Trump.

It is still all about their Trump derangement.

They aren't doing this because they are principaled or care about sexual harrassment.

They are doing this only so they will have a better chance to beat Trump.

They would and do lie and cheat in order to beat him.

Heyo!

Apparently that's a thing now. South Park sorta started it, I think, but nowadays all the kool kidz use the word "fag" as an all-purpose dismissive term.

So one can be a comic book fag, a reality tv fag, even a gay fag. Bottom (no pun intended) line is, if you are overly committed to and perhaps stridently vocal about something that is not really worth getting all that worked up about, you're a fag.

So... one might say, there perhaps are some AoSHQ fags.

168 Regarding the Bernie vote, I actually read those people.

They are much more gettable if Biden is dumped than if he's kept.

Whereas Trump is losing currently in a lot of polls, he has a big enthusiasm advantage. No one is enthused about Joe Biden, and do you think this is going to make anyone more enthused about him?

He is a terrible candidate. The Democrats went into 2016 thinking a bad candidate could still beat Trump. Do they want to repeat that mistake?

It would be nice for Trump supporters to think Biden gets hurt by this and stays the nominee, but I don't see it happening. When it was being embargoed, I thought the Democrats might be stupidly clinging to him as they did with HRC. But this latest interview demonstrates to me they've made their decision.

I think Joe is about to get a one-way ticket to Palookaville.

Thanks, Ace, for using "hearsay" right. I tried to tell people during the impeachment that "I heard him say", even when offered as a sort of "eyewitness to the saying", is "hearsay". Literally, "I heard him say".

I'm not a lawyer but have a keen aversion to misrepresenting things if I can get something right.

You've got it right. You also can call it "second hand evidence", which doesn't make it wrong - but it's always someone saying that someone else said something.

The REAL problem is that this tells you nothing about the veracity of the original statement, there is no such thing as "perjury" for a hearsay statement. Anyone can, in complete honesty, testify that they heard someone else say something, even if what that other person was saying was a complete lie.

And the courts have long decided that with a few careful exceptions, that kind of thing should not be allowed into a court proceeding, because it is so easily manipulated. (it can be useful if it's used for things like corroboration of a first hand witness)

243 The comparative situation of Biden/Reade vs. Kavanaugh/Ford is *extremely* complicated. Without a full understanding of context, it is possible to see how these would appear to be contradictory stances to the layman. This assessment, however, is as problematic as the question is complicated.

While superficially similar, the fully deconstructed context of the events across time and circumstances lays bare the distinctions between these profoundly different situations.

In the Kavanaugh/Ford case, the greater context and legal/social/political/economic significance of the question ("Should Kavanaugh be confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice?") required exhaustive examination of the claimed abuse. After all, the people have no direct influence over the lifetime appointment of a US Supreme Court justice. All claims must be comprehensively investigated and the default stance should be one of belief. With an opaque and permanent position, not treating all claims as legitimate and launching adequate investigation into them runs the risk of doing profound injustice to the people.

In the Biden/Reade case, the greater context and legal/social/political/economic significance of the question ("Should Biden be the Democratic Party nominee for president?") does not require exhaustive examination of the claimed abuse. Unlike with a Supreme Court justice, the people ave direct influence over the short-term appointment of the US President. With that direct influence, the direct judgement of the people can come to bear and thus no thorough examination - either officially by the state or informally by the press - is necessary.

Beyond the obvious differences in the greater socio-political context - differences that are deliberately ignored by partisan actors - there are also profound consequences in outcome. The outcome of the Kavanaugh/Ford affair was the appointment of a regressive and corrosive force to the US Supreme Court. The indifference with which the US Senate treated the Ford claims will have profound consequences on the United States for a generation. In the Biden/Reade case, those same partisan forces are attempting to invert the question. The attention they did not want on Kavanaugh - indeed, the attention they were able to corrupt to obfuscate through a hurried kangaroo proceeding in the Senate - is the attention they are trying to bring to Biden, albeit in an inverted mirror___ of the kangaroo proceedings they imposed on behalf of Kavanaugh.

I hope this helps clear up the apparent contradiction. When considering the full context - both social and political, objective and partisan - it becomes clear that these situations are not equivalent. Indeed, they are barely similar.

255 @Techno_Fog

It's looking like (one of the reasons) they went after Flynn was to protect the Carter Page FISA.

As NSA, Flynn could have certified the FISA warrant. (See law + Page FISA renewal)

Thus the new emails: "Based on his position [NSA]" we would debrief him on Cross Wind (Page).

https://tinyurl.com/yc8qrpq4

@Techno_Fog

This assumes that Carter Page = Cross Wind.

Even if not, the emails evidence FBI concerns that Flynn would throw a wrench in their sham "investigation". Motive for removal of Flynn.

Thus the line: "before he tells them and the whole thing goes underground"

256 >>Actually, I don't think that Mika was protecting Stinkyfingers. Asking why things were different with Kavanaugh? That is the essence of our complaint.Bigger question - why did she (she!) commit an act of journalism?

After yesterday's #FireChrisHayes there is now way Biden agreed to the Mika and Joe interview without an assurance that it would be to get the narrative back on track, to minimize the charges while pretending to address them.

This is the old Clinton routine w/a friendly reporter - answer scripted questions and then claim "old news, already answered that, moving on to the people's business!"

The snag was that Biden is too mentally lost to stay on script and play his part.

If some guy on the internet is telling you that you have to back X or you're no American, and they don't offer anything convincing and resort to insults
that's "just some guy on the internet".

To say back to them "Well so are you." is disingenuous of the fact that you served yourself up as the authority or the arbiter of opinions. Perhaps they weren't trying to tell you the same, and then perhaps it isn't exactly equivalent.

Since "he picked" the VP, it's an automatic consensus choice that will leave no one happy, but they'll all fall in line, just like they do every time.

If they simply replace him with Kamala (because it will be Kamala or Michelle Obama) there will be a revolt against that. But if "he" picks one of them, there will be grumbling, but no revolt.

327 Arguments are about facts and opinions that are derived from those facts. They are not about one person assuming a position of moral or intellectual high ground and saying anyone who disagree with them is inferior.

Nobody learns rhetoric these days, or that kind of argument would be laughed off the stage. Its an appeal to authority ad hominem fallacy: just because someone isn't a famous expert does not mean their argument is false.

The argument stands on its own weight, and unless you are a fool or a sophist, you must refute it on its own sake, not their appearance, past, falsehood on other topics, or lack of credentials (or existence of your own).

It may very well be that your opponent is a stupid doo doo head with a big nose, but that does not mean that their argument is false.

RBG is on the line. There is no plan to chalk up a loss unless they have a path to take the senate.
Posted by: Cat Ass Trophy

They have a path. Take AZ (McSally is a weak candidate running against a NASA astronaut married to former Rep. Gabriel GIffords) CO (Colorado is very blue now and the very popular CO gov is running against Gardner) and Maine (everyone hates Collins). Then Dems only have to take one more, and they have strong candidates in Montana and Kansas, and Dems seem to think they have a real shot in NC (I don't know the politics there but the Dems have been gaining strength.)

If voters start blaming Trump and the GOP for the Chi-Com Lung Aids economic meltdown, we could be in real trouble. I keep thinking the Dems will pull Biden, but maybe the Dems will keep him around long enough to win, and let the VP (who in that scenario will be the real Presidential choice) take over. If Dems think Biden will lose, they'll force him to resign at the convention and pick some governor they think can win. But they are going all out -- the lockdown at this point is completely to melt down the economy, which was Trumps strongest selling point. But the Dems want it all, and are willing to tank the entire American economy to get there.

Oh, during the meet-and-greet glad-handing before and after, the wife will be there, sure. Going into a fundraising dinner, sure. At the wine and cheese party to celebrate the new garbage scow terminal at Stinky Island, sure.

But while giving an actual formal speech or interview? I don't remember it ever happening.

It's a feint.

They're "sticking with him" because that polls better than dumping him. Right now.

It won't stay that way.

I'm still leaning heavily on them allowing him to grab the nomination, accept it, and then either a) die, or b) have some sort of stroke or something that "forces" them to replace him.

A funeral would give them more sympathetic face time, so I'm not saying they'll kill him. But I'm also not NOT saying they'll kill him.

You are underestimating Trump. They are not. They know Trump is a lock and that the only way to beat him is to cheat their asses off and hope for a miracle. The candidate doesn't matter. They have proven that.

495 You guys have good stories. It's too bad that so many commens, rather than making points, either try to be cute (some really are funny, but some are just variations of "First!" or "Look at me") or act like leftists, by pornifying the commons (remember how they started it, with the Sarah Palin is a c-word?) We now copy the left in social and cultural norms? That's just sad.

It's pretty much fouling our own nest. Gives credence to the stereotype the left uses, that is, we're all a bunch of uneducated trash. Some of the comments make it sound as if we all go around wearing gold chains, misspelling our own names, and rapping with ebonics, esp when we talk about women. (I thought it was just leftist bigotry that we were all uneducated and ignorant.)

Is Samanth Bee really that much of crowd influencer among the right? The c-word (and that's not the only one thrown around to females although lots of men deserve nasty names for their leftist ideas, too--but there don't seem to be any in common use, are there?) in pubic spaces used to be shunned like the "n-word" still is -- before the left so easily changed the norms we used to uphold, beginning with their Palin tee-shirts... That was classy. No fair, how we always follow their rules about what words we hint at and which ones we use freely.

The Bee show show came along after the Palin tee-shirts ....and for six months after that infamous episode, our website comment sections were full of people falling over themselves to use the word "feckless." when you could tell from their other vocab that they had never heard of the word before that.
Again ---- I repeat.... you guys have good stories. Credit where it is definitely due, and actually, I'm here all the time, to read them. I just rarely put on my haz-mat suit to dive into the comment sections, so thought while I was here today, I'd deliver a sermon. (I know; nobody asked, but oh well...)
