The Hell? He's trying to say he's the smartest guy in the room - Cuomo said this on Morning Joe:
The president's projection. Peter Navarro's projection, CDC's projection, White House Coronavirus task force projection, then the Gates model, Columbia model, Cornell model. They were all wrong, and it's good news, because we changed the trajectory of the virus. And we've proven something when I say the worst is over. We've proven that the virus is not unstoppable, right? There was a fear when we started that maybe you can't stop this beast. We proved you can stop the beast. That should be vindicating in some ways. But we stopped the beast by our action, and that's why we reduced the curve and the infection rate. It's all subject to what we do. If we go out there today and we start to see more people on the street, that infection rate will go up, I guarantee you, in three days. It's a direct consequence of our actions. He's really trying to take credit for slaying the Wu-flu beast all by himself --- after *first* being the epicenter of it in the US because he and de Blasio delayed social distancing and were wholly unprepared for a pandemic. Exit question: Why didn't you mention HCQ when claiming you slayed the beast?! Posted by: Lizzy at April 14, 2020 03:27 PM (bDqIh) 61
Eh, some sort of botching of the info by one of the at least 3 reporters in this chain from Cuomo - NBC - Daily Caller - Red State. And don't underestimate Cuomo. He's on TV every day appearing competent. Competence sells. The One True Mayor of NYC, Ed Koch, would have a weekly news conference with all of his top aides. There's a loose manhole cover at L Street and 251st? Charley, get on that. In a real campaign year Joey Fingers would melt under the pressure and be replaced by the convention. This seems to completely contradict NYS' own COVID tracking site.
From that site (https://tinyurl.com/vseg6cj, "Daily Trends"), they show the following for today, April 14: - 21,786 persons tested - 7,177 persons tested positive. Now, NYC's COVID tracking site (https://tinyurl.com/tp8uwld) shows nothing for today or yesterday, with the last data being from 12th. But "no data" does not mean "zero." So what does this "zero new cases" mean? No one admitted to the hospital? No one dead? Because +~7,200 confirmed SARS-CoV-2 tests is a lot more than "zero." There was not one single person, not on the left or on the right, who was advocating for the country to be shut down on Jan. 22. Even by Mardi Gras a month later, it was still a shocking idea that no one had considered, which is why no serious thought was given to stopping the big party in New Orleans.

Ace,
You realize Trump himself admits that without the extreme social distancing we've been doing (which he had nothing to do with and yet is now claiming) we would have "lost hundreds of thousands of people." Hundreds of thousands of people, ace. That's not CNN. That's not #firefauci. That's not allahpundit. It's Trump. Trump admits that. It took just a few contagious people coming from China to infect the world. That's how contagious this thing is. You can pass it prior to being symptomatic. Therefore it would take just a few contagious people to do it all over again if we open up the country prematurely. Let's assume we all actually abided by the social distancing guidelines (which we are aren't) and let's suppose we now had every case that was going to happen. We'd still need to wait three weeks for those people to recover. Lots of people get this thing and never show symptoms and yet can pass it to others. So you have to let them get over it too. But to claim that the sacrifices we have all made to keep ourselves apart and safe were unnecessary is just so fucking stupid, it's honestly below you. Hundreds of thousands of lives. Cuomo would be beaten just as badly as Biden will be beaten, in the same places, for the same reasons.
Recall Trump did not get significant numbers of votes in 2016 because of personality issues and (understandable) skittishness about an unknown. He now owns most of those votes. And the Dems - whoever their nominee - are in even worse shape in terms of issues and policies, which matter for a pathetically small but still relevant slice of the Dem electorate. This may have been posted earlier, but Whitmer complained yesterday to the media about Betsy Devos family somehow being involved in this protest planned for tomorrow in Lansing. The organizing group has received donations in the past from the Devos Group /Amway.
She thought it was despicable that a member of the Trump administration was involved in supporting a protest against her. DeVos said they have had no involvement in this protest. Today, Amway Company and it's employees donated thousands of masks, gloves and hand sanitizer to local hospitals and medical groups. Whitmer decided to thank them for their donations. In my opinion, closing down a $22 trillion economy for no reason other than some model showed 2.2 million deaths is an extreme overreaction. As the numbers started coming in and we see real data as opposed to assumptions, I think my opinion is borne out. We aren't going to see 2.2 million deaths. We'll likely see under 60k, so in other words a fairly typical flu season.

It took just a few contagious people coming from China to infect the world ~~~~~ Who is this ^^^ knucklehead? Try 5 million. That's the conservative estimate. Posted by: IrishEi He's right about how infectious it is. He's just totally wrong about how deadly it is. We can easily have rolling openings of various sectors (especially to alleviate any food or other necessity shortages) and then see how it goes. Is it risky? For those with morbid obesity, or other serious health problems, yes. But we cannot shut down the whole country to try and extinguish the virus. Not only won't it happen, but the impact would be devastating. Dr. Fauci's focus is on preventing any deaths from this. That's fine. That's his job. Trump's job is to balance those competing interests and keep us together as a nation. It's time to start opening things up, at least gradually. Posted by: imp at April 14, 2020 03:57 PM (uKiy5) 280

Note: As I've mentioned before, Lady YD is very non-political, doesn't like politicians, doesn't vote, etc. To the extent she's formed an opinion of Trump, she doesn't like him, mostly based on personality and media characterizations of his putative "racism." After I made her watch one of the Dem debates (the one where Castro promised taxpayer funded abortions for men) - ONE of them mind you, she said "you know maybe I'll vote this year, for Trump. None of these people can be made President." Until yesterday she had never once watched a Press Corps Q&A before. But she watched them question Trump last night, and said - I shit you not - "Is there any way Trump can just suspend the election? These people are an embarrassment." Of the blonde one who Trump called "a fake," she said "if that were me, I would quit my job, change my hair, and go into hiding. How embarrassing. Who would speak to the President like that?" She went from "I don't like Trump at all" to "name him Imperator" in the space of a year. And not on his merits. On the lack of merit of his opponents. Single data point. When it comes to science, leftists love the un-falsifiable claim. Meanwhile, in England: Frail coronavirus patients may be denied critical care under an NHS scale system designed to free up ICU beds. The controversial 'Clinical Frailty Scale' (CFS) ranks patients' vulnerability from one to nine in order to prioritise those most likely to recover from the killer virus. Those with a combined score of more than five are said to have uncertainty around the benefits of critical care, according to the system, which has been implemented while NHS hospitals desperately scramble to free up beds and ventilators. https://preview.tinyurl.com/r7bmwde But we need to crash the economy to save grandpa!!! Yes, let's talk about that field hospital.
There was a time when we were America's biggest hot spot. It was frankly embarrassing. No one wanted anyone from Seattle coming to their town. While President Dipshit was busy calling our Governor a snake, Inslee closed our schools and implemented social distancing measure which we have taken to heart. Now we are nowhere the worst in the nation. Not even close. We are wearing masks in public. We are closing parks and staying home. And its working. Inslee recognizes this and sent the field hospital (which by definition is a hospital which can be moved) to a place that needed it more. We are handling this thing. Trump told us we were on our own. We took that to heart. Now he is lying and taking credit for what we did. That's typical of him. He's a salesman. We elected a guy who sold steaks and he's constantly selling things as "perfect" and "the best ever" and it's always bullshit. But you all love him so that's where we're at. Posted by: Seattle Slough at April 14, 2020 04:06 PM (IJG6N) 352
Here's how Trump should have run this thing:
Hey everyone, we're facing a potential tragedy. Quite a few will get sick and die, which is heartbreaking. Here's the plan: if you're vulnerable, do what you need to do to stay safe. Meanwhile, we're sending a $1200 stimulus to every taxpayer in the country, and if your loved one does die specifically OF the Wuhan Virus, we will provide $500k of life insurance for that individual's estate. Would have been cheaper, families would have been taken care of, and we wouldn't be heading into 5 years of economic recovery. Posted by: TexasDan at April 14, 2020 04:06 PM (yL25O) 353

Interesting how this disease is worse for men than women. Looking at AZ's stats, they're reporting that in the testing, 53% of the infected are women, 47% men. But in the virus death count, it's 39% women, 61% men. So it's killing almost twice as many men as women in AZ, even though there are more infected women than men.
There are some articles that have reported this sex difference before, but it's still not clear why men die at such a higher rate. Clearly this virus is politically incorrect. Nobody has educated it to understand that there is no difference between the sexes, because biological sex is just a social construct and people can choose which sex they are, and anybody who says otherwise is just a transphobic h8ter Nazi Trumpster who deserves to die! One fucking nursing home. Sure. We saw that one infected person in a nursing home could infect the whole place in a matter of days. We also saw that a choir practicing in Skagit County could infect half of the people there. We saw that this was how contagious this thing was. We perhaps saw it first. So we reacted swiftly and we've made great progress. That this only happened in the one nursing home is a testament to our action. Because one contagious worker can infect an entire institution in a matter of hours. That Skagit Valley choir didn't touch each other. No hugs, no handshakes. They only sang near each other for a couple of hours and up to that point there hadn't been a single case of the virus in that county. 45 out of 70 that showed up got sick. 2 died.
