After Mocking Trump For Suggesting Hydroxychloroquine Might Be Effective Against Coronavirus, Media Starts To Admit That Maybe It Is

But they're not crediting Trump, and they're not admitting their own stupidity and lies, and the social media monopolies will not be banning their accounts for having promoted dangerous Fake News.

After repeatedly mocking President Trump for suggesting on March 19 that hydroxychloroquine could be an effective treatment for coronavirus, media organizations have begun acknowledging that the drug -- now approved for emergency use to treat coronavirus by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) -- may be useful after all.

Journalists and top Democrats have beaten a similarly hasty retreat from their previous claims that Trump's ban on travel from China was both xenophobic and ineffective. But media outlets' misinformation on hydroxychloroquine was unique because it involved not simply policy disagreements but also suggestive medical advice and directives that could have dissuaded some from seeking certain treatments.

"Malaria Drug Helps Virus Patients Improve, in Small Study," The New York Times reported this week, adding: "A group of moderately ill people were given hydroxychloroquine, which appeared to ease their symptoms quickly, but more research is needed."

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, went from threatening doctors who prescribed the drug with "administrative action" to requesting that the federal government ship her state some. Other state leaders have followed suit, including Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, also a Democrat.

It wasn't always considered acceptable to use that kind of optimistic rhetoric, however.

"Trump peddles unsubstantiated hope in dark times," read a March 20 "analysis" by CNN's Stephen Collinson. Saying Trump was "adopting the audacity of false hope" and embracing "premature optimism," Collinson charged that "there's no doubt he overhyped the immediate prospects for the drug" because the FDA had not provided an explicit timeline on approving the drug to treat coronavirus.

The media's also now admitting that Trump's earlier statement that the fatality rate from the Wuhan Flu would maybe be lower than 1%... also may be true.

After they accused him of "lying." About what was stated as being a hunch or guess.

Guesses and hunches which depart from CNN's and the NYT's guesses and hunches are now "lies" which require censorship, deplatforming, and possible prosecution.

Watching the media response to President Trump's handling of the pandemic has been an educational experience for anyone who has been paying attention. It seems no matter what actions the President takes or what comments and opinions he offers, somebody at the major cable networks and newspapers is standing by to jump all over him. Unfortunately, on several notable occasions, Trump has turned out to be right. And then comes the embarrassing moment when the media talking heads have to reluctantly deliver the same news.

One key example of this phenomenon popped up a few weeks ago when the President offered an opinion about the mortality rate for the novel coronavirus. At that time, Dr. Anthony Fauci was estimating it to be "around two percent." Some other medical authorities had put the figure as high as 2.6%. Trump declared that he thought it was going to be considerably lower, "way lower than one percent," specifying that this was just "a hunch" that he had.

That was all it took. The press was all over him. He was "misleading" the nation. He was "contradicting the medical community." Trump was "at odds with what health experts are saying." But yesterday, CNN found themselves describing the mortality rate for the virus in new terms. Oops.

The media's insistence that only the alleged "facts" they claim are true are permitted to be publicly uttered has now been extended to cover hunches, guesses, estimates, and speculations.

Anyone who Subversively departs from the media's approved (allowed) range of guesswork risks severe penalties.

The media are leading this country to the edge of a revolution, but it's not the revolution they have in mind.

The media has been eagerly attacking everyone else's right to free speech -- Wait until we have our turn.

You're not the only people capable of inflicting punishments for speech, Media.

"Trump's inaction/poor leadership on the pandemic KILLED people, he has blood on his hands!"

The more people who die the more weight their charges have. Also, the more urgency to DO SOMETHING such as nationalize the medical supply chain, order a nationwide shelter in place, etc.

This is like Fast and Furious, where more gun deaths in Mexico using US-sold guns = urgency to shutdown gun sales.

The plan I've been pushing? I've modified it.

In the plan, I stated that not only would the National Debt be paid, but all mortgage, student, credit card and commercial debt would be paid off.

This was targeted to the middle class and designed to not only give the people the ability to reboot the economy, but the confidence to do it immediately.

My modification is that this is only for the private sector. No government employee, federal, state or local, would be eligible.

This is because no government employee was ever in a position where they would miss a paycheck, so no incentive is needed.

Unlike some talking head on TV, you do appear to realize that the debt does need to be paid off, it can't just be "forgiven" - that would cause even more economic chaos than there is already.

I don't think Samaritan's Purse is in the habit of sending their portable hospitals based on FNM b.s. SP wants to have resources free to help if tornados wipe out towns this time of year.

And if hypertension is a serious pre-existing condition that means it wasn't the kung-flu that killed ya? And that is how 99.95% of studies end.

Also, placebos can work in a small number of people, so even that can be helpful. Not a solution, of course, but in a crisis, you'll take anything you can get.

On this HyClQu use, who cares if every nuance isn't yet understood? It likely never will be because "studies". And don't get me wrong, a scientific method is essential to get the best/most out of any foreign chemical that is introduced to a body, but offering it to a populace under crisis when there's more than anecdotal evidence it can help is the best option. Just tell end users the contraindications and side-effects (like every other drug) and let them use it if they choose.

I agree with you completely! that's the main reason I persist in pointing out how bad this is going to get if we don't. There's a lead time involved in these kinds of actions, and decisions; if we wait too long, it's too late to affect the course of future events. Everything becomes locked in stone.

313 The universities are panicked - about to start the avalanche of announcements to say the summer courses are online too. As soon as one of the big ones does it the rest will follow.

This may be one of the best things to come out of this whole mess - the scam of in-person necessity and the expensive edifices they created for administration will come to an end.
Posted by: batterup at April 03, 2020 04:15 PM (K4I9O)

There's a whole lot of in-person indoctrination that goes on at colleges and universities. Get a friend to go to the Antifa or Communist or whatever meeting. Get brainwashed into preventing this or that speaker from appearing on campus.

I have done a lot of online classes and one thing I can tell you is the professors only discuss the course material--no political opinions are voiced. Why? Because those lectures are recorded, which leads to liability. Those same professors can't easily discriminate against students who are moderate or conservative because they don't necessarily know a student's politics.

Sure, if the medication is going to knowingly terminate a human life and the pharmacist has a moral objection. But if that objection is "This medication isnt FDA approved for the medical condition you say you have" That is bullshit and should be sanctioned by the state pharmacy board. Possibly criminal prosecution if the patient later dies of the infection.

But I'm also so over hearing about how covid-19 is "less dangerous than the regular flu" I don't remember EVER hearing about a shortage of ventilators from a regular flu outbreak.

High blood pressure is pretty common and it seems to me that most folks live with it for decades only having to take a daily pill and pay attention in case they need dosage adjusted down so they don't faint.

So even though the FNM are pushing panic trying to use the situation to strike back at us irredeemable deplorables that dared elect DJT by killing the economy, I do think this virus does qualify as a super flu. Dr. Oz specifically called-out the nonsensical nature of the prohibition in NY: HCQ can only be used in NY in a clinical trial, he's been calling all the guys that would be conducting those trial AND, nope, can't find a clinical trial in New York.

Gov. Cuomo is still fighting the good fight to let as many New Yorkers die from the Wuhan Lung Rot as he can but he's not going to be able to resist letting doctors use HCQ much longer. People with some influence are beginning to notice.

My thoughts too. There are just too many unknowns. Companies will use this as an opportunity to get rid of dead weight that always gets accumulated during a bull run. Capital that people saved for a long time and then risked to start a business the past couple years is gone.

Now I think there are many things we (as a country) could do to really spur a bull run like was found in the 50s and 60s.

558 Yeah, we all laugh at the media and say that "nobody trusts them anymore" and yet...

They have successfully created such a hysteria that gave President Trump no other choice but to crash the American economy.

I'd say they are all laughing their asses off at any of us who say they no longer have any power or influence.

So they lie. No shit. They've been lying for decades, going at least all the way back to Vietnam.

Why do they do it? Because they're successful at it and people believe them.

They helped build the narrative against an American war effort enough to where we retreated and gave up, they forced an American President to resign from office and now they've contributed to crashing the American economy.

They are going to keep on lying until they are no longer successful.

Considering our current situation, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I mean, how many of us predicted for the last three years that the Left would try to crash the economy somehow in 2020...? I did, and so did many many others.

This isn't cramming events of the world into a worldview, a la conspiracy theory. This is, "if the world is A, then B will happen". B has happened. Bigtime.

The hyclq stuff is not a cure. It's effective at alleviating symptoms while (a healthy) person's immune system fights off the infection.
______________

While doctors using the drugs have reported that they seem to work better when they're given early on, we don't actually know yet if, or how, they help the sicker patients. David Lat, who blogs at Above the Law, was in the ICU with the China virus in NYC. He was on a ventilator for several days. His docs gave him everything, including the "Trump drugs." He was released from the hospital a few days ago.

Something helped. We don't know what it was, because he was given some of everything. Same is true for other critical patients who have recovered.

It may turn out that the "Trump drugs" don't help the sicker patients at all, or maybe it will turn out that it only helps in certain patients but not others. At this point, we just don't know.

Proof? Not feelz because that is pure feelz.
All of this pure speculation based on feelings that it has been around since October or November. It does not fit with the current case fatality rate of 30% in America and Western Countries.

If so many people believe they have been infected then they should be begging to be reinfected again to prove they had it before along with the doctors pushing this assumption.

Back up your assumptions with actions. Get infected on purpose and quarantine yourself until medically cleared and sign a release that if you infect anybody else you are held responsible.

I say this because 2 people have complete destroyed SW Georgia. 2 people. There will be 1000 cases cases in the area by Monday at the latest. Hospitals is six different cities are having to take patients and that is expanding.
