Thanks to Trump's Emergency Order to Seal the Border, Illegal Border Crossers Are Being Deported Back to Mexico in an Average of 96 Minutes from Apprehension

We asked the former Republican leadership class, as well as the operatives and grifters of Conservative, Inc., to close the borders and take citizenship seriously for thirty years.

They ignored us. They made illegal border crossing de facto legal and they made illegal aliens de facto citizens.

We asked again in 2008. We asked for a wall.

They ignored us again. They offered us instead a "high tech virtual fence."

We had begun to understand that when they made these alleged compromise counter-offers, they were just trying to put us off.

Like they put off and waylaid the pro-life movement every two or four years, always promising to do something, but always funding Planned Parenthood in the end.

They were hoping that with rhetoric and "high tech virtual fences," we'd be suckered again and let them continue their de facto open borders policies.

We demanded a border in 2012.

Again, they ignored us, and in the official 2012 RNC "post-mortem," the same corporatists and open borders libertarians that dominate the Cash Money Wing of the Republican Party demanded that we embrace amnesty and open borders.

Now we began to understand that the corporatists, paid shills, and corporate-sponsored operatives and "journalists" were not working for us, but instead working for corporatists who wanted open borders.

We were not their clients. Their actual clients were the big-money interests paying them through the front groups Cato, AEI, and CEI. The open borders corporate class were their clients -- we were merely the targets of their bought-and-paid-for advertising campaign.

As they say with "free" internet services: if you're not paying for the product, you are the product. If you're not paying someone for their product, you are the product that they're packaging up and selling.

And so it is with Conservatism, Inc., and the bought-and-paid-for corporate-sponsored allegedly "independent" Conservatism, Inc. "journalists."

You're not their actual clients. You're the suckers they're advertising to, the chumps they're propagandizing to on behalf of their actual clients.

Same thing with National Review.

And even though we were waking up to the hustle, and becoming increasingly impolite in our demands -- still they ignored us.

In 2015-2016, we finally fully realized that our alleged representatives and our "journalists" -- supposedly arguing our agenda to the powers that ran the country -- were actually only interested in arguing the agenda of the powers that control the country to us.

And so we finally declared our independence from them and took a chance on an uncouth businessman and reality tv show host.

This wasn't because we loved Trump.

It's because we had been betrayed, abused, lied to, and sold out by the current leadership, and were willing to take the chance on anyone who was not from this coterie of proven liars and traitors.

I always laugh when I hear the corporate owned-and-operated propagandists of Conservative, Inc. attacking Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity for being mere broadcast pundits, as if attempting to reflect the broad consensus of actual conservative thinking was ignoble, cheap, and "cheating."

Here's the thing: I know who Levin's, Limbaugh's, and Hannity's bosses are. Their bosses are the audience. If they don't please the audience, they lose their shows.

It is true that an audience can be wrong and lead you astray.

True.

Does that mean they have to pander to the audience?

Sure, sometimes. Anyone cultivating an audience does in fact have to attempt to please that audience.

But the thing is: I know who Rush Limbaugh's boss is. I know the biases of its boss.

He has done full disclosure on who his boss is.

But who are Tim Carney's and Ramesh Ponuru's bosses? No, don't say AEI - AEI takes money from specific corporations and foundations to fund its "fellows."

Who are the people actually funding Tim Carney and Ramesh Ponuru?

Who are they pandering to?

Again, I know who's pulling Rush Limbaugh's and Mark Levin's strings.

Who's pulling theirs? Who is their actual client?

Whose favor do they have to curry and cultivate, or else lose their jobs?

Why won't they disclose it?

Now, after four years after we told this class to fuck off, they're still butthurt and assmad about it and wondering why we "crazy unreasonable deplorables" rejected their generous offer to continue being our "thought leaders."

And meanwhile: they're still pushing open borders bullshit.

Would a single one of these unamerican traitors have closed the border to Mexico, even during a major pandemic?

NO. They would have offered us further "high tech virtual fences" and "sophisticated online monitoring of border area hot spots for epidemics."

And still they wonder -- Why did they reject us?

Bolstered by emergency measures brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, Border Patrol agents at the U.S.-Mexico border are able to return illegal crossers at an extremely fast rate.

Aliens who unlawfully cross into the United States are being sent back to Mexico at an average of 96 minutes, according to government officials who spoke with The Washington Post. The rapid return rate is largely thanks to the Trump administration’s emergency order, which was put into place earlier in March.

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf, following orders from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), announced on March 20 that the northern and southern borders would be closed to all non-essential traffic to stop the spread of COVID-19, and that nearly anyone caught illegally crossing into the United States would be immediately sent back.

Since that announcement, Department of Homeland Security leaders have reported a roughly 50% decline in illegal border crossings. Wolf and Mark Morgan, the acting commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, have publicly confirmed the dramatic fall in illegal crossings in March.

The emergency measures are also allowing Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which oversees Border Patrol, to quickly return those that do choose to illegally cross the southern border.

Per the guidelines, Border Patrol agents are processing foreign nationals from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala “in the field” before they enter a Border Patrol station. Medical exams are reportedly not administered to these aliens, which dramatically shortens processing time, and then they are ultimately rushed back to Mexico.

An agent said the hastened process diminishes the risk of exposure to everyone involved.

"The goal is to minimize the exposure to the alien, agent and our country," a CBP official told WaPo.

23 Friend was SDPD for 30 years (San Diego city limits actually extend to the border in some areas). Back when he had a beat down there, he said they'd occasionally come across illegals - who drew attention to themselves for other, conventional reasons - and when determined they were Mexicans (back then, it was only Mexicans, unlike now), would take them down to the port of entry, where Border Patrol would briefly chat with them to make sure they weren't in the US on a visa or work permit - and then, vamoose, south across the pedestrian bridge you go.

Different world, very, on both sides of the border, of course.

Huh. So those "refugees" from unspeakable evil and inhumane treatment who required "sanctuary" in the US as the *only* option have had their numbers diminish by *half* in the past month?

The hell you say. Anyone whose conditions are as bad as were told would chance it. Indeed, with the pandemic, the desperation should be greater than ever, leading to increased risk-taking and a surge of cross-border "refugee" traffic.

Some fucking humility.

I'm sitting here having nigh to a full on mental meltdown wondering if everything I've thought and believed politically is wrong because, when push has come to shove, what people want are checks and for Daddy Government to save them. And I'm no one.

Our Betters? Our Thought Leaders? They've been WRONG about everything for decades. Decades upon decades.

And now those errors are being paid for with actual human lives besides those of our military men and women. Now those errors are being paid for with the money and the destruction of businesses that people have poured their lives and life savings into. Now those errors are leading us down the primrose path of acceptance of authoritarian actions and universal basic income.

And will any single solitary one of those who have smirked about how the world is flat and we are all one world spend a millisecond pondering that they were wrong?

Will they apologize?

Will they reevaluate their premises and views?

Will they display anything approaching humility upon reality destroying their theories?

Of course not.

They'll just wonder why I can't code and do my job from home.

66 Think about all the stupid positions Republicans have taken to try and win over the base, and just enforcing a border would have done it AND have been popular with general election voters.

It's just so common sense, yet instead we had Republicans taking strident positions on abortion, tax cuts for the extremely wealthy, privatizing social security and medicare, etc.

I'm not necessarily against these positions, but what a stupid path to power to go after that nonsense instead of just NOT letting a million people a year walk over here.

71 64 There's an article over at the Federalist about how Millions are Going to Die in Mexico, because no one is doing anything about the Corona Virus there.

So, question: What if Mexico never does anything at all to prepare for the virus, and nothing much ever happens? Oh, people will get sick, and some people will die, but people die every day in Mexico, and it probably won't look any different than normal.

What if Mexico ignores the virus, and nothing happens?

86 Teachers in my family are in private schools. Their kids have not missed a day. While the day has been relatively shortened, they still have classes with video and some very cool online stuff using Google Classroom and other tools. The kids have been very engaged. They like the technology and good teachers are being creative in using it. Attendance is near 100% and any kid who doesn't attend and participate gets a free email or text to mom and dad. Overall it's worked well. It's especially important for middle school upper grades because the private high schools are very competitive.

The local public school, which is btw one of the top in the state? Two weeks went by with nothing but free meals 7 days a week. They just got started on some "optional" online stuff. But more to come, because you know these poor public school teachers are very stressed and over worked. lol.

92 And ace, "we" unfortunately includes a super-majority even in "blue" border areas, who then/now, when asked correctly tend to support sane, common sense border and illegal migration policies.

The voters tolerated the GOP's dishonesty for many years, and other voters just didn't care *enough* about this to nudge or rein in *their* political figures.

Look at the Dem statements on illegal migration up to the late 90s, even during the first year or two of Dubya. Many of you have probably seen the video of Clinton, Schumer, et al, giving statements that would be denounced as truculent racist incitement by today's cretinized "press".

The bulk of the electorate, GOP and Dem, allowed this to happen, by not rejecting it.

Any AZ morons please chime in to update/correct, but look at AZ. Governor - who seems more than anything like a standard issue CoC-oriented pretty boy GOP seat warmer who burbles all the right sounds - initially at least sided with a panel that was going to grant tuition aid to illegals (kind of a "dreamer"-like move).

*After* the state's voters had overwhelmingly passed an initiative banning specifically this kind of move. I think the idiots were forced to back down after an outcry.

The boldness of the no-borders/no sane immigration policy elements is directly proportional to the limpness of the electorate.

Oh - and while Trump is president *because* of his sane rhetoric on illegal mass migration, the *legal* immigration disaster is completely unaddressed, to this day. Getting worse, actually. H-1B, H-2B, various other scams involving students, no change in the trend lines under Trump.

Kushner was very impressive yesterday at the briefing. Including the way he worked a substantive/political point into his remarks - i.e. that voters should be assessing state/local elected officals by their performance in this emergency - but he should not be within 3 light years of anything to do with legal immigration. He is, effectively, the undaunted tip of the spear for the corporate/CoC elements who still, apparently, would gladly dump every American on their payroll to save $12.38.

Nobody ever challenged them on why these things had to be coupled together. There's no logical reason they have to be done simultaneously except that the *promise* of border security was intended to fool us long enough to get the *guarantee* of amnesty.

Remember the GWB amnesty plan? "We'll guarantee every illegal immigrant a z-visa to start them on their path to citizenship. And we promise to put up a fence or something in a few years maybe."

Why? Not because I'm psychic.

Because for 18 months he was saying all the things we were saying. He did so unabashedly. He tore down the Bushes, who had betrayed us. He went after many a supposed sacred cow.

He *informed* the wider populace of things that we only complained to each other about in our little cone of silence jerkoff circles, both in real life and on the internet. About important things. About abortion. About our illegal immigration problem. About our jihadist problem. About our RINO problem. About our Democrat problem.

What prominent Republican, in office or running for office, *ever* went after John Roberts after he burned conservatives so fucking severely? None. Not one. I'm sorry maybe there was one but it is lost on me if they did. But Trump did. He called Roberts' appointment a "mistake". And why was he the first one to do so?

Because he was "sucking up" to us???? Because he wanted to "own the libs"? Because he read it in National Review? Because Steve Bannon told him to? Because of his big giant crazy ego?

130 >>If you have to have your children fed breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend food, your kids should be taken into care, i.e., away from you.

Agreed.

Seems to me that that this free meal stuff started in schools. At some point (was it Obama, or earlier?) that federal funds were linked to free lunch program participation numbers, encouraging schools to get every kid signed up for it so that they could get more federal spending. Then they started offering free breakfast, again encouraging everyone to participate (no idea if this resulted in more federal funds).

Then once this dependency was normalized, the schools started whining that these precious children needed dinner, and backpacks full of food sent home with them on Fridays.

I am not excusing parents who can't get off their butts to feed their kids, but this didn't start with parent demand. It is a seriously messed up mentality that originated in schools and/or by DC bureaucrats.

132 While we have a great lull down here, the wall is being erected with alacrity. Its a beautiful thing.

The valley I live in had a massive reduction in crossings when an older version of the wall was put in. Then the sheriff installed cameras in the high volume drug smuggling areas, and made sure the smugglers got prosecuted when they got caught with drugs. I have seen maybe a half dozen illegals in as many years.

Wall, towers with thermal cameras and ground surveillance radar looking over the border, CBP drones flying patterns, and boots on the ground. Maybe even the SEIDARM system to detect approaching personnel as well. Tunnels can be detected (we've been doing in for years along the DMZ in Korea). The border can be secure.

147 TJM, their numbers being "no worse" than ours assumes these are identical situations, where everything would turn out the same without interventions.

There's always a lot learned in epidemics, but the hardest part is constructing apples-to-apples comparisons to draw conclusions.

I'd prefer that magically there were a control group here in the US, a moderate-high infection area that took the Swedish approach. Darwinism in action.

Mexico can't really be useful for comparison, in any way - they completely lack the civic capacity for anything like an organized response to this. It'd be like me saying - "nah, I'm not gonna try to beat the record for the Catalina-Palos Verdes ocean swim next week, because I choose not to."

206 >>>64 There's an article over at the Federalist about how Millions are Going to Die in Mexico, because no one is doing anything about the Corona Virus there.

I work for a multinational defense contractor. My site is the red-headed step child of the company as we primarily work on commercial aircraft, not defense. Our Maquiladora (AKA Mexican slave farm) has already announced since last week they would be shut down until May due to the Mexican gov't's orders. Our site in the States is remaining open, albeit with probably only 1/5 our normal employees.

What pisses me off the most about the situation is how sanguine my fellow workin' from home white collar team members are about all of this. Like "OH YES OF COURSE WE ALL SHOULD STAY HOME FOREVER TO SAVE LIVES."

I came up through the ranks from hourly to salary. Got a job at this company in the heat of the great recession and was glad for it. Prior to landing the job I'd been temping, working side gigs for cash etc.

None of these white collar house pets seem to understand that we just crashed our economy into a brick wall and that we might be closer towards the back of the bus but that doesn't eventually mean that our faces are going to get crushed as well. Mostly I've heard jokes about 401ks being 01ks etc. I honestly think until this asshole class feels the burn we will be trapped in our houses. Once it's them being laid off suddenly we'll all be given the Trump-A-Rita cocktail of malaria drugs and z-packs and face masks and being told it's safe to go back to work.

All I remember is that while my kid was in public school we were bombarded with mail from the school system asking us to sign up. Here's the application form again in case you didn't get the one we mailed you over the summer, or the one the teacher sent home with your kid, or the one we had available at back to school night. Relentless.

Same thing happened when our kid's elementary school piloted the free breakfast program. Please, eat the free food, come in with your kid and you can eat free food, too! We need to prove that there's a need to get in implemented in all schools blah blah blah.

If you have to beg and plead with me to take free stuff there's not a need for it.

Once we did the math, we decided not to apply. We would only qualify for $6,900 after doing the computations on the SBA website.

The form is pretty simple actually, just two pages, fill it out and take it to your bank to start the process.

245 RE: remote learning.

It mostly sucks. But, I see a few silver linings:

1.) I get to directly observe the low quality of education.

2.) I get to work directly with the girl. Her banal, rather pointless reading assignment became a way to discuss the geography of West Africa, different fruits and vegetables, why folk traditions happen, the importance of certain livestock to poor people, and the traditions of the RC and other churches.

Every word that needs explanation, whether it's "Mali" or "benediction" is an opportunity to stop the stupid assignment and learn something real.

3.) She has to type instead of write by hand. She is one of the few young people who doesn't much care for electronics, she's unfamiliar with them, and the painstaking process of typing her work makes her think about spelling. It's made a noticeable difference in her atrocious spelling in just a couple days.

295 I may be misremembering but wasn't it also that income requirements were removed so that everyone would sign up that way no one would be stigmatized by getting a free lunch.

314 Actually Young Pioneers *started* as a commie indoctrination outfit/socializing instrument for the yutes.

The Komsomol (League of Young Communists) was of course the 20-something networking/brown-nosing organization.

The collapse of the Soviet system was kinda foretold in the utter cynicism, careerism, and corruption of the Komsomol. In the late 70s I spent time over there and had several events with the Komsomol. It varied a bit, but even then was starkly clear that everyone in it viewed it simply as mandatory/a useful tool for self-promotion. Ideological enthusiasm = Zero.

Although in only one case did the Komsomol people at the lunch table say, within 5 minutes of sitting down, "let's blow this popsickle stand", and proceed to ditch the event with me - and best of all, jump a fence and haul down a Soviet republic flag on a government building, in broad daylight, because I mentioned it had the best design of all the republic flags.

325 Speaking of deportation - after WWII Europe did it basically immediately, sending ethnic Germans out of Poland and other countries right away.

Historically it isn't very hard to deport people that speak a different language and have a different culture.

Hell, if you want to go it in 6 months just do the following:

Offer a bounty of $10K for reporting anyone knowingly employing an illegal. If you are an illegal and you report someone you get a green card as well. But only the first person reporting gets the greencard.

Offer a bounty of $1K per illegal alien deported.

Add to the penalty for being here illegal 100% of the value of assets earned in the US and/or all assets on hand whichever is higher.

Illegals would know everyone was trying to find them and they will lose everything if caught, and the only way out is to turn in whoever they are working for or go home.

Problem solved.

365 Great post, Ace! Here are three questions, in order of seriousness:

1) Who exactly does fund Mark Levin? Rush Limbaugh is particularly reliant on his GOP voters, and I always thought he pulled himself up to greatness. But Mark Levin merged CRTV with Glenn Beck's operation.... and that guy was a Hillary loving dry drunk who blew apart his business empire. So that's a huge red flag to me no matter what else he's done. And given CRTV's incredibly shabby treatment of Mark Steyn, that is quite a bit of else.

2) What's up with Non Binary Ben Shapiro? Kid has a face for radio and a voice for calling rats, but he keeps getting promoted like he's the second coming of Rush. Yet Breitbart fired not just him, but his father- a man working at the same company yet never heard about. Who are the shadowy billionaires propping up this nebbishy stooge? Why is someone less popular than the gay agenda being shoved down our throats with even more urgency?

3) I could forgive the above questions if someone could answer this- seriously, what's up with the media? No one supports the President publicly across the entire television broadcast spectrum. Even Fox is mostly unreliable, as opposed to reliable. So how does that happen? Why are our TV airwaves, federal agencies, banks, and legal systems filled with people literally self destructing in the coup attempt against the President? What is the simplest way to diagnose the sickness of Frum, Kristol, Charen, Shapiro, Goldberg, Bloomberg, Weissman, the Vindmans, Yanukovich, Berman Jackson, and Epstein? It can't be "they're all Democrats" because quite a few of them have political influence solely as nominal Republicans. And it can't purely be down to ethnicity because there are a lot of co-ethnics who hate what these people do. (And Netflix, among others, seems inordinately fascinated with portraying the Orthodox like a fringe religious cult.)

So what's the deal?

No - we don't have to be swarmed by Mexican refugees. We've never had to be. We chose to be.

431 Who exactly does fund Mark Levin? Rush Limbaugh is particularly reliant on his GOP voters, and I always thought he pulled himself up to greatness. But Mark Levin merged CRTV with Glenn Beck's operation.... and that guy was a Hillary loving dry drunk who blew apart his business empire. So that's a huge red flag to me no matter what else he's done. And given CRTV's incredibly shabby treatment of Mark Steyn, that is quite a bit of else.

Mark Levin was the president of Landmark Legal Foundation which actively represents clients regarding constitutional issues. He is now the Chairman of the BOD, which includes Ed Meese and other prominent conservative legal minds.
https://www.landmarklegal.org/people

He has eight best selling books, has his daily radio show that is paid for by advertising ( as Rush refers to it, obscene profit centers) , has his weekly television show on Fox.

Not sure why you think he is getting money from bad sources. He's been a lawyer for 30 years, in private practice , then in the Reagan administration in various posts in the DOJ. Then back into the private practice with Landmark, then he began his radio show after his books became popular.

445 Well, I didn't care for John McCain after he shut down his campaign during the financial scare, and I liked him less when he obviously was involved in peddling the Steele dossier, but even I don't think That "the Conservative Inc Grifter Class" (although that's a very good phrase, Ace) prays to John McCain. If they're ostensibly RC, they wouldn't regard him as being a Saint-maybe just a "fine American" and the others who are religious but not RC or Eastern Orthodox wouldn't pray to Saints anyway. And people who have a high regard for Saints don't pray TO them-they ask for prayers of intercession to God FROM them-kind of like the way someone might ask someone who is really admirable, worthy person to put in a good word for you with "The Big Guy" the CEO they well know the CEO manager. In this case the CEO is God, That's not the best analogy because all people can go to God directly, but the communion of Saints is partially about Saints continuing their work in the life beyond this life and part of that is praying for Christian to become closer to Godl. Yes, I belabored that point-sorry-but if people regard McCain as a Saint they're not RC and they're probably not using the word Saint in the way that St Paul does as "committed followers of Christ" although he may have been a Christian and has long met God, of course.

The original SARS in 2002 came from civet cats being raised for eating (in China). Likely bitten by bats in a similar kind of situation, where all these live animals are caged for sale for food, and stacked on top of each other.

That was SARS Cov1. The present outbreak is SARS Cov2, which causes Covid19, what we are living through.

Afraid you've confused me here. Claiming zero when you have more than zero dependents means you give more to the government every paycheck. To your question though, you do not need to claim dependents that you actually have (and I'm assuming you mean on your W4) if you don't want to. Going the other way can be problematic, the IRS does not like that.

I just spent some time looking this up. Levin was the editor in chief of Conservative Review. He left that position after his new Fox TV show was created. Conservative Review is now owned by Blaze TV, which lists the following individuals as staff members. https://www.theblaze.com/masthead

The Blaze is owned by Mercury Radio Arts. And Mercury Radio Arts is owned by...Glenn Beck.

I don't believe Beck and Levin are partners or business associates. Beck bought CR and I don't know if Levin had any ownership in it, or was just the editor and contributor.
