It says, quote, former members of the Communist Party in Sweden plan to build a new Socialist worker's party that's free of multicultural dogma, climate alarmism, and LGBT issues that currently plague the modern left, unquote. A vigorous communism that rejects identity politics would indeed be an interesting political development. Perhaps Bernie would be wise to take note of this. The article quotes a Swedish old-school commie who is fed up to the back teeth with multiculturalsm, LGBTBBQ++ identity politics, and Greta the Pest. He's is mad because all of these multi-culti issues have crowded out those that commies like him have traditionally fought for. He says, quote, Pride, for instance, has been reduced to dealing with sexual orientation. We believe that human dignity is primarily about having a job and having pension insurance that means that you are not forced to live on crumbs when you are old, unquote. It's very unlikely I would agree with his proposed solutions to the problems he's talking about, but I have to admit he's trying to address some actual problems of actual working people. Rat bastard commies used to be all about the working people, or so they said. Now, the mountains of skulls produced by rat bastard commie regimes said otherwise, but I could at least respect the brawny steel-worker or coal-miner labor organizer. Those guys actual knew what a hard day's work was. The working class isn't going to be lifted up by a bunch of boutique-level soy boys and rainbow-haired androgynous baristas, who are about as useless for the left as the NeverTrumper are for conservatism. He's upset that the worker's movement has been hijacked by a bunch of college student commie wannabes, who are definitely not proletariat no matter how much they pretend to be. The Swedish commies aren't real big on open borders, either, nor with the creeping Islamicization of their country. Progressivism does not come off well here. I mean, how bad does the multi-culti cult have to be when even rat bastard commies are getting tired of it?

Quasi-willowed:
--- More on the empty hospitals thing: They say there is a video of a German guy who walks *all* through a German hospital to show that there is nothing going on there. Their media is also telling them that hospitals are "war zones" apparently. There's also video from Ireland where the lady filming shows nobody is being tested in the tent she sneaked into. Also, the progs are going apeshit over these videos saying "YOU'RE FILMING THE OUTSIDE", however, what they are not taking into account is that *SO* is the news media, just the night before. In some cases the empty hospitals guys are filming the same locations where the news media has recently shown people in lines...OUTSIDE the hospital. Given the American commie history of rent-a-mobs, this isn't so unexplained why the news media can film crowds. I attended a Life Chain event, where our chain stretched for 3 miles, and across the street 12-15 students gathered to protest for "Reproduction Rights" and when I saw the footage, I saw a sparsely populated part of the chain where we our group couldn't fit that many, because of a curve in the road, small shoulder and guard rail. The rest of the chain was *pretty much* elbow-to-elbow, btw. And then they crowded the counter protestors next to a telephone poll, which took up a reasonable portion of the shot and crowded everybody into the shot and made it look like a crowd. I've seen media manipulation first hand. I have no hope of believing the media or doubting their complicity. Communists need the LGBTBBQ identity politics crowd because straight economic communism obviously doesn't have the moral superiority needed to appeal to the average people. It's not good enough to say "you should do things our way because we have a better version of the future for everyone." A far more powerful way to get people to align with you is to convince the other side is Evil with a capital E.

The world is stupid. Think it goes back to the notion that whatever the activist says their cause is, it's really about power. Sure, there are a lot of useful idiot true believers in each of these causes who really think, say, feminism is about "equality," but the people pushing it are about power. In a lot of cases, that power derives from breaking functioning institutions, norms/vales to make room for what they really want. Posted by: Lizzy at April 03, 2020 11:21 AM (bDqIh) 65

Shelley was indeed hot when she was young. I recently watched a 1952 movie with her and Gary Merrill, and with a featured appearance by Bette Davis, called Phone Call From a Stranger. No, not a creepy thriller, a good drama. Shelley plays a cabaret girl/stripper. No, we don't get any views of her at work, but at that point in her life, you could believe her as an exotic dancer. The story I've heard is that, when Shelley was ordered by her studio to do some part she didn't want, she'd deliberately let herself gain weight, so they would replace her in the cast. And she'd be free to do an A picture instead.

The DSA on-line publication, "Socialist Forum", has been taken over by Trotskyites, who dare to say bad things about Cuba, Sandinista Nicaragua, and the Holy of Holies - the Soviet Union. And I may sound like a broken record, because I've been hitting this point for a few days: You're talking about a media that propped up Jussie Smollet's claim even as it dissolved into absurdity. When Dave Chappelle started making fun of Smollet's by now farcical claims, we were still on national racism lockdown on whether or not we can make fun of an increasingly absurd group of claims. I can remember the semi-debate about whether or not Chappelle could be allowed to say it. I reiterate: the media is the exercise of the proposition that Americans will believe what they are told. >>Communists need the LGBTBBQ identity politics crowd because straight economic communism obviously doesn't have the moral superiority needed to appeal to the average people.
I have linked to this many times, but it's because it has stood the test of time. The LGBTQ whatever activism related to sex has a very specific purpose: https://tinyurl.com/y5qqwatp What's interesting is that, because the Left expresses itself in terms of "freeing" people's sexuality, many people miss the fact that it is every bit as sexually controlling in its own way as Islam is. This control comes about because the Left works assiduously to decouple sex from a person's own sense of bodily privacy and, by extension, self-ownership. If a person has no sense of autonomy, that person is a ready-made cog for the statist machinery. Back when campuses were rioting over speakers like Milo Y. the DC did a story on BAMN (By Any Means Necessary, a national Antifa like group that has a large presence in Berkley) that showed that its founders shared office space, and at least one founder was a member of, NAMBLA. Further, their founding mission statement included NAMBLA goals of child love. I really don't think you can decouple Communisms/totalitarianism from sexual deviance. They need each other too much to reach their respective missions. Posted by: Lizzy at April 03, 2020 11:34 AM (bDqIh) 175

What Marx got right?
Marx got the existence of a self-interested national bourgeoisie right. We're living that dream right here with the multinational corporations dictating to us what can and cannot be said re China. Marx also sort-of got dialectical materialism right, that class struggle is a thing, fueled by resentment and envy. He also got right that democracy-plus-capital will end up in a dictatorship of the proletariat. Except that he'd plagiarised that from Greeks like Plato and Polybius, Ibn Khaldun to an extent. I also get the impression Marx hadn't read much past The Republic. (A word for a dictatorship ruling on the proletariat's behalf exists. It's 'tyranny'.) Marx should have figured out the true problem of capitalism as an -ism, which is the compound-interest exponential rise of debt. But if Marx did notice, he buried it deep within the stupid. You have to go over to Michael Hudson for that. Posted by: boulder t'hobo at April 03, 2020 11:41 AM (ykYG2) 230

We're living that dream right here with the multinational corporations dictating to us what can and cannot be said re China. --- Marx is the Father of Modern History. Which I like, in doses. Of course, often enough, in this post-Zinn world, the most modern "History" can be as much "story" as it is study. Posted by: Axeman at April 03, 2020 11:44 AM (Eicbe) 255

Posted by: Anna Puma at April 03, 2020 11:36 AM --- We are lucky to have even three deployed at a time. With one more doing workups after spending time undergoing maintenance. Hullo all. Life doing a number on me. Short on rent again and I lost all of March to do a damn thing about it between winding up in the hospital and the whole damn would going batshit insane. Barely care, just want it over with. I know the dog's barking, but it feels like every lifeline is cut and every door systematically closed and bolted shut against me.
Should have dealt with these problems long ago, then I wouldn't be in this mess, so I guess in a sense I'm the author of my own fate here. So it goes.

What Marx got right?
Marx got class analysis right - but not in the way we intended. You have a ruling class in this country that thinks it should run things, without regard to what anyone else in the country thinks. Since they are "credentialed", they are fitted to rule, you see. The European Union is designed so this bureaucratic class has all the power, and the voters have none. Under Obama, the blue cities got rich, and the rest of the country stagnated. Politics makes a lot more sense if you view the Democrats (and many Republicans) as simply representing the interests of their class. The strange thing to me is that the people pushing the most radical bizarre stuff these days seem not to be driven by economic or political reasons so much as madness and evil.
They use political language, but only out of habit or reflex rather than belief. They frame things in terms of justice or equality, but they don't seem to actually care about any of those things. They talk about multiculturalism and diversity, tolerance etc but only as weapons, not deeply held convictions. They use the terms to bludgeon others for not agreeing, not out of any fondness for the concepts. Its almost all driven by a need to seem caring, a deep-set sense of resentment for not getting what they want, a frustration with life not being what they long for it to be, and an insanity driven by a near-total rejection of reason and truth. Look at their actions, not their words. They aren't even socialists. They're just madmen driven by a need to normalize the perverted, bizarre, and unhealthy, while trying to make normal behavior aberrant and shunned. Ray Mabus got the number of carriers reduced to 10 and the Navy trying to count hospital ships as warships to keep the fleet numbers up. I used to have training videos from Mabus. He sounded relatively normal, but if you knew what he was doing to the Navy, it was a real effort not to put your booth through the screen. As far as carriers are concerned, I've seen lots of arguments pro and con. I know it's not allowed here at the HQ, but I'm going to say I don't know. Both make strong cases; one that carriers are a large, vulnerable target in the age of Chinese shore to ship guided missiles, and the other that we can defend them against the same. Christopher Taylor - People Against Goodness And Normalcy.
Heh yeah. Literally. They are so fixated on people feeling good about themselves and not having hurt feelings that any splinter freak group with a grudge gets their support without the slightest critical thinking. Maybe, just maybe, a group is shunned and considered abnormal because.... its abnormal and wrong? that's not even a category they are willing to accept as possible unless it is normal, traditional Americans. White, Christian, rural people are considered horrible people who should be shunned. They were raised with the "no bullying, don't hurt people's feelings" thing hammered into them so hard, so constantly, and with such religious fervor that this is their entire worldview. Jesus was just a man. 2. This is what Jesus, as a man, really said. Jesus, as a man, is inert. It doesn't make one difference what Jesus, the inept revolutionary homosexual Marxist who got himself killed by the Romans thought. It couldn't make a difference to me. The reason that we should "consider the lilies of the field" or regard the sparrow, is because we have an authoritative source telling us God will be our providence. And Providence is already the thing they don't believe. So, not only do they illustrate a Jesus you don't believe, or have to interest in following, they introduce a Jesus where 90% of the things that he can actually counsel, they already don't believe. And Jesus (the Man) was a Pollyanna. Yeah, don't worry it all works out, be meek and humble, because you will *inherit the Earth*. It is the *authority* of Jesus that provides reassurance. It is the smudging of that authority that makes him an afterthought. Posted by: Axeman at April 03, 2020 11:57 AM (Eicbe) 355

Just my opinion, for what it is worth as a non-Hwood observer, Shelley Winters was a lot of fun after she said to heck with it and did normal aging. Watching some old TV shows with the 'pretty' women and the vaseline lenses is just painful. One of the few sitcom spots I really enjoyed was her mother of Roseanne, and I didn't like the show, but Shelley was a blast.

Wisdom:
286 hypocrisy is a relic of bourgeois Old Think. Same with "double standards." We reactionaries (conservatives, classical liberals) are capable of hypocrisy because we believe in objective standards of behavior and truth. Thus WE always fight an internal battle between what is right and what is self-serving. Proletarian New Think regards "objective" standards as a delusion and rejects them altogether. There is only one standard. What is good is whatever serves the Movement/Party. What is true is whatever serves the Narrative. Period. There is no internal struggle. Whenever the Left speaks of hypocrisy, it only does so to exploit the Old Thinkers' guilt. If Samaritan's purse does a fabulous job helping NYC, then this may cause some people who are constantly told that Christians are the biggest haters to question that. Also, this would demonstrate how efficient a private relief organization is in comparison to a government-run one. 271 Outlander is not filled with lefty crap. In fact, the hero is the antithesis and is the literal only male lead that isn't crammed full of soy since Connery's Bond in any show that isn't pure chasem' shootem' yawnfests.
Posted by: dagny Poldark. Posted by: rickb223 at April 03, 2020 11:46 AM (Oqufv) The first four seasons are good. The fifth season jumps the shark. Not only is it filling up with diversity/woke crap, but the writers have turned it from a family drama into a political thriller. So, no more Poldark for us. College profs, who call for Communism, all assume that they will be the ones in charge after the revolution. I wonder if they have even the slightest clue that if the country were to go full Communist - that they would be the very first people lined up against the wall to be shot? If there is one thing no real Communist can stand, its somebody who makes them feel stupid.

And let's be honest: It's the religious charities
that usually show up at disaster areas first, but the Red Cross gets all the headlines. Posted by: Vendette at April 03, 2020 12:05 PM (nRNOc) This is my experience. After Hurricane Michael, there were missionaries and The Salvation Army on the ground in Mexico Beach very quickly, offering water and meals. The Red Cross showed up too, but the ones I ran into were really concerned about these other groups' activities. "Here's some water, Here's where to get a meal. The Salvation Army came by? When? What were they doing?" Posted by: Chunk Hunger at April 03, 2020 12:17 PM (uM6CE) Posted by: Bertram Cabot, Jr. at April 03, 2020 12:17 PM (aKsyK) 502

think its broader than that, it also is teaching things about love, commitment, becoming one creation, and God's relationship with Man. Sex is powerful stuff and is for a reason, not just "I'm bored" or "I am bummed out, I bet if I have an orgasm I'll feel better" and grabbing Tinder.
Well of course. It's an icon of the Trinity including even personal sacrifice but also great love. But at it's core is the miracle of creation which is why sex, the integrity of th he person and th he integrally of the gift is so radically important. Sexuality truly becomes human when fully integrated to the whole person, ie intellect, will, and body and isn't just a meaningless body function. Even the evil commie loons understand it's important, but they don't know why. They imagine it's about license, ou r fender, or expression or how gross they can be. It's importance lies in it's unitive and procreative properties meant to build up and share love and sacrifice and strength. Posted by: dagny at April 03, 2020 12:21 PM (RwjKD) 508

Interesting solution for the cruise ships which came into Florida.
All those with a verifiable plan for getting home by vehicle were permitted off first. Meaning mostly Floridians. If your car is in the parking lot here, or if you can prove you are being picked up, you can get off. But if you are flying home, here is how you will do it. Get off the ship, follow the roped-off lines that lead directly to the special chartered buses we have waiting for you. You will be bussed to the airport, and a specially chartered plane will fly you to your final destination. If for example you came solo from Salt Lake City, and you are the only person going there, you'll be a solo passenger on that chartered flight. President Trump to the rescue!
