You can watch the wheels come off of his presentation in this video that Breitbart posted to their Twitter feed. Things seemed to be going fairly normally for a little while as Biden obviously recites some remarks while reading them off the teleprompter. But then the prompter obviously must have failed. At that point, Joe went to full ramble mode. The video is only a bit more than thirty seconds in length, but it feels a lot longer. Frankly, it's pretty uncomfortable to sit through, but make sure you have the sound on for this:

My father is deep into Alzheimer's. I'm personally familiar with how it affects someone and Biden is showing LOTS of signs of mental deterioration.

The purpose of the primary is for party voters to assess which candidate has the best chance in the general election. Any such assessment should include the possibility that the candidate may not make it to the general election. You don't get a do-over because your guy dropped out due to health reasons, or because he was indicted for being a crook. Those possibilities should have been addressed during the primary.
Allowing a last-minute switch is contrary to the spirit of a democratic society. It means that voters don't get to make an informed choice about their leadership. Instead they have one candidate whose every flaw has been paraded around in public for six months, and another who is brand new and sexy and has the backing of the media telling everyone how wonderful he is. And you know that if they can do it for a candidate who is truly ill, they'll start pulling that crap for every candidate who is losing an election.

Obama spent eight years gutting the party with his hard-left crap, and Hillary was so determined to avoid another 2008 that she made sure her loyalists ran what was left of the party. When she lost all that were left were the old guard in deep blue seats. The Dems have regained some ground in the past four years, mostly with wins by young radical progressives, who are now looking to challenge the old guard for leadership. Many of the Dems wiped out between 2008 and 2016 would be mid-level leadership, senior Congressmen, Governors, state legislative leadership, all of whom would have enough experience and name recognition to mount a campaign. But the problem is that they're gone.

Love to hear some alternates. A few weeks back I was saying somebody like a Gavin Newsom would ride in. Another 'ron pointed out they'd choose somebody from a state that wasn't so obviously in the tank for the dems as CA is.
Now it seems media attention has turned to Cuomo, who's suddenly taken the reigns. But I'd assume NY is the same as CA. At this point I'm not sure the dems have much choice in the matter, they're running out of time. Joe needs to succumb suddenly to the yellow plague and the new guy step in by early summer.

City where I work just issued a shelter in place beginning Friday at 5:00 p.m. until April 16th. Of course, legal services are deemed an essential service, which, okay, fine, but the court is more or less closed until April 20th.
We knew this was coming as Mecklenburg County, which is Charlotte, is going shelter in place starting tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. Once that domino fell, all the others were going to tumble as well.
Boss said we'll talk tomorrow about what to do. We have no appointments for the rest of the month and we may just shut down next week. On the other hand, with no one here I'm getting a change to scan and shred all the files that have piled up for, frankly, years.

Joe Biden hasn't has anything close to a tough question posed to him in 40 years. Trump, on the other hand, has taken everything that the MSM dishes out to him for the last 3 1/2. On top of that, he's had 30+ years in dealing with reporters and the public before he became President. I'd argue that he could handle any question posed to him. Even if he bluffed his way through, like Biden would inevitably do, he's had far more recent practice doing it.
When W was president, I would always worry that he would mess up somehow when asked these types of questions. I've never had that feeling with Trump. Never.

Cuomo is not viable. When the bodies pile up in NY, Trump just has to say "We gave them local control, we did X, Y, Z to help, just like they asked. They're fools and they got people killed." They may try to spin it, but there's no counter to that. The response has been state-driven from the beginning. That's why they repeat it every single press conference. They anticipated this fuckery.

He handles a wide-ranging discussion of a yuuuge complicated national emergency with ease - the blow-up moments and contretemps with reporters have been a small number of incidents. And most of the questions on many days have been quite reasonable.

No one is listening to the stay at home orders.
Not even my family. Every time I talk to one of my brothers or sisters they are off to somewhere.
Plants for the garden. Grocery. And members who live near each other visiting each other and bringing friends and dogs.
Other than my parents, who are very high risk, I'm the only one in my family hunkering down. But I am at risk too, and I don't mind. I was pretty prepared. They did not prepare at all. Ignored the warnings.

The issue is we're talking very big numbers here. You can't get by with only one mask. You need a new one every day, or even every time you go out, under current recommendations. That's in the range of a billion masks a month if everyone in the US were to wear one. Even if the stockpile had been replenished or increased, we'd only have enough for medical personnel, and even then for a few weeks.
What we should have, instead of a stockpile, is mothballed, high throughput factories that can be spun up very quickly.

This is interesting.
While I know that the economy needs help, there's a part of me that thinks that we could dodge a big bullet if this bill is delayed.
Medical breakthroughs are taking place at an incredible pace right now. Between the treatment options that have been talked about that worked in South Korea, and others that are being worked on right now, we could still have something viable in as little as two weeks - things are moving that fast.
If that's the case, we could be well into an optimistic upswing in the economic outlook in April. If that's true, we may not need 2 trillion then. Maybe.

Many people still don't seem to get it (in this narrow sense) - the main concern is medical capacity to handle acute cases (hospitalized, and especially on ventilators) at *peak numbers*. Not the only issue, but the specific objective of trying to "slow the spread" - lower the peak on that graph.
And since in the short term ventilator #s, and even to some extent, ICU beds, are fixed, it's a concept that applies everywhere, even sparsely populated areas, with appropriately minimal medical capacity.

I think the issue is we only have so much chloroquine, in the short term, and it's a drug people already take for other problems. If everyone with the sniffles starts taking chloroquine, it won't be available for more serious cases, and it won't be available for, say, people with lupus.

Trump did something better than that... he pulled out evidence that Cuomo had been offered additional medical equipment back in 2015 and that he declined to make purchases because he took NY in the direction of death panels instead.
I would love to see Trump attack certificate of public need programs nationwide though. ICU beds have not kept pace with population growth because most states still require approval for any new/expanded medical service and allow current market participants a virtual veto over any approval.
