Area Retards Decide That Fish Tank Cleaner Is a Useful and Safe Drug for Pre-Emptively Treating Coronavirus;
Media Blames Trump

Frequent-offender NBC "reporter." She's always got some draaaamaaa she's pushing.

More NBC excellence:

This is what these retards ate. Note the big red warnings stating NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.

Now Trump, of course, wasn't so stupid as to confuse a chemical cleaner with an FDA approved-for-human-use drug.

But you know who was?

The media. It was The Media who told people that hydroxychloroquine was the same as chloroquine phosphate.

Weird how The Media overlooks that.

I'm told Trump retweeted Ben Shapiro:

Media lunacy unites the strangest bedfellows.

Of course: El Kabong writes, "CreampieLover69@aol has logged into the chat."

Another lover of the creampies his wife so kindly brings home for him to eat, The Pirate Rick Wilson, checks in too:

87 My wife's doctor told her she should drink six glasses of Dihydrogen Monoxide (H2O) a day, but after drinking just one glass of undiluted Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) she is horribly dead! The same exact chemicals!
Posted by: Patrick Sullivan

130 If a chemical compound has any letters in common with another chemical compound, it is the same chemical compound in all respects.
Posted by: The Science Lovers of the Media Who Think Mike Bloomberg Could Have Given Everyone in America $1 Mil

By the way: Sodium Chrloride is table salt and you can eat it.

Sodium triphosphate is dishwasher detergent and you should not eat it.

The fact that both chemicals have "sodium" does not mean that they're super-alike.

The business I worked for helped investment funds(private equity) market themselves to institutional investors, so they're worried about a major recession/slowdown in business like they saw in 2008 or 2009. If things rebound quickly they've said they intend to hire be back, so here's hoping.

Years ago, was reading an article in a Social Work / Psychology magazine about the importance of speaking as specifically as possible to your clients / patients.

Case in point: a young psych consulting a mother with an "out of control" young son told her that 'She was the adult. She needed to throw her weight around when the boy misbehaved.'

He meant for her to speak with authority, i.e. say 'no' or 'stop that' when the boy acted up / acted out.

She was a large woman. She took it literally. She sat on the boy and crushed / suffocated him.

Not blaming Trump. Just a reminder of Karl Popper's: You can not speak in any way that will never sometime, be misunderstood ...

VDH's latest column:

I think one of the strangest of all sequelae to the virus and the lockdowns might be the millions of high-paid Americans whose absences were hardly missed either by the public or count much in subsequent economic analyses of damage to the economy.

In a sophisticated society under lockdown, is it more existentially valuable to know how to fix a toilet, replace a circuit breaker, or change a tire, or to be a New York fashion designer, a Hollywood actor, or a corporate merger lawyer? At 9 p.m., when you go downtown in need of a critical prescription, are you really all that furious that a law-abiding citizen who has a gun and concealed permit is also in line --- or would you be more relieved that gun control laws might ensure that his ilk never enters an all-night pharmacy?

So who is important and who not? . . .

Chloroquine phosphate is one of the chemicals they've been talking about, and yes, it's the same as the fish tank cleaner. However, it is the more stringent of drugs that have been used to treat/prevent malaria in Africa. More side effects that hydrochloroquine, which is primarily what the doctors who are on board are prescribing and monitoring, I think in combination with that drug that starts with A (z-pac).

And more and more doctors are using it, labels be damned, on serious CV cases, and getting results. The media is desperate to stop this, because a treatment fucks up everything for Team D.

304 True Origin of the Meep

A few weeks ago, in a long-forgotten ONT, or it could've been some other thread, I postulated an observation along the following lines:

Democrats: Wylie E. Coyote

Trump: Road Runner.

Observation: Every time the Democrats buy a new ACME Russia Hoax Spring Trap, or an ACME Rocket Stormy Daniels, or an ACME Judge Kavanaugh, they always end up with the same woebegone look on their face as Wylie E. Coyote, when his latest ACME endeavor (often, quite literally) blows up in his face.

And there remains Trump, resplendent in his Road Runner finery, basically saying:

.. meep meep, mutherfuckers.

/end of recounting a memory

And Nurse Ratched saw it, loved it, has adopted the "meep meep, mutherfuckers", (and other versions she's adapted to suit her preferences), and run with it as a design, trademarked signature here, ever since.

More power to her, says I.

This is a factual account. One of you with Mega Serch-fu talents, might be able to go back in time and find my original expression from so long ago, and bring it forward as a more historically accurate posting of the record.

I'm sure my wording in the allegory was slightly different. But the story itself, wasn't, isn't and shall remain the same.

You can take that to the bank.

I'm not a chemist, but are chloroquine and choloroquine phosphate even the same thing?

I am. No.

Posted by: pep

Um, yes, the chemical with the same name is the same chemical with a shortened name

No, because the name chloroquine can, as discussed in your link, cover multiple forms, depending on how the parent molecule is complexed. It can be a phosphate, a sulfate, an hydroxy, and probably many other things. Chloroquinone phosphate is one of multiple potential compounds.
Even if one of them is safe to take, that doesn't mean the others are.

This is the same family of drugs that may be effective against Covid 19.

Chloroquine phosphate has also been used in fish tank cleaners to kill/control an aquarium fish parasite.

I have no idea how pure the chemical used for aquarium cleaning is, and how much that these silly people in Arizona took.

The normal dosage is 200 mg, which is actually a rather small amount (1000 mg = 1 gm, 454 gms = 1 lb, so this is a tiny fraction of an ounce).

Taking too much of this will definitely kill you.

In the U.S. at least, Surgeon General is a title that carried over in usage from when European militaries began obtaining their own medical doctors. In the U.S. the Surgeon General holds the rank of Vice Admiral. The first public health agency in America was the Marine Hospital Fund, which took care of merchant sailors, thus the naval tradition was carried forward as the agency expanded and obtained more powers.

I'm so sorry you're going through that with your dad's estate. I feel your pain. I was the executrix for my mom's a decade ago, and part of it had to go through probate too. I felt so confused and lost with it all. All I kept thinking of was why does this have to be so hard, so difficult to navigate through all this legal stuff after she died? When that kind of thing is not your world, it's not fun. You never know if you're doing something right because it's so confusing. Did you hire an attorney? I had to. Very expensive. But I really had no choice with having to file court documents, etc. I pray your journey through all that is over soon.

454 I'm not a chemist, but are chloroquine and choloroquine phosphate even the same thing? The second sounds like a compound that includes the first, and may or may not have similar properties.

The first is the active cation and the second is the neutral compound.

A bigger problem is that everyone, including Ace, is conflating chloroquine with its hydroxlated relative, hydroxychloroquine. The latter is better known by its trade name Plaquenil. This isn't helping to clear the foul air generated by the media.

My son's chemistry textbook said that chemical compounds are made of ATOMS, connected by CHEMICAL BONDS.

I turned the page. The textbook started talking about glycosidic linkages in nucleic acids. WTF?

"You're taking your first uncertain steps? Now try pole vaulting."

I spoke with the chem teacher about this. He said that they don't teach pH because they don't teach the mole concept because so many students cannot grasp it (??).

So they talk about glycosidic linkages instead. Makes sense. No wonder kids hate chemistry. It was basically an exercise in memorization.

I also infer that the authors of the textbook - all high school teachers - were intellectually insecure, and trying to show how clever they were. There is NO WAY a HS chem textbook should be talking about glycosidic linkages, or, arguably about nucleic acids.

Posted by: pep

Pep, I get that you're probably trying to stop people from doing something stupid. But the drug Chloroquine IS chloroquine phosphate (NOT THE SAME as the hydro- version).

It may have different additives in the pharmaceutical, it may have additives in the fish tank cleaner, but it is the same fucking molecule. It has a very narrow therapeutic range, and is easy to overdose, especially if you snarf down fractions of a TEASPOON of the shit.

But it is the same chemical.

The first is the active cation and the second is the neutral compound.

It's the other way around. The chloroquine phosphate is a salt of the protonated chloroquine molecule (the cation) and the phosphate anion.

Choloroquine is the neutral (uncharged) compound and I'd guess would have significantly lower solubility in water that its phosphate salt.

Chemical and pharmaceutical companies exercise a great deal of "to charge or not to charge" strategies in the manufacture of their products. One product with which I worked back in the eighties made great strides in deceasing the likelihood of an acrylic polymer that was made into yarn from turning yellow during subsequent processing simply by ensuring that is was protonated (i.e., converted to the cationic form) before it was filtered and dried.

Posted by: Krebs v Carnot: Epic Battle of the Cycling Stars (TM)

That's right. It has a lot to do with both solubility for ingestion, flowability (is that a word?) when processing tablets in a tablet press (which run at incredible speeds), and stability over time, so it doesn't react and degrade in potency.

The powdered formulation of any pharmaceutical has to be free flowing to go into the tablet press, and can't cake up.
Tablet presses make hundreds of tablets a minute in the big leagues of pharma manufacturing.
In my old life, we made 1/2 million acetaminophen tablets in a day or so in the tablet press room, and this was with kind of obsolete equipment (in the little company I used to work for).

Posted by: pep

That's not pedantic, that's fair.

It can be all of those forms. Yet it's just as true that the stuff the retards took can be a medicinal compound, if purified and dosed. So to be equally pedantic (or more charitably, precise) --- the stuff they took is not NECESSARILY a different chemical from what Trump spoke about (though the hydro- form is more widely used, I suppose). The various preparations, whether sulfate, hydrochloride salts, etc., have various absorption properties, but the stuff really likes fat, and is absorbed through the gut immediately.

For a stupid fatass to take a 1/4 teaspoon (probably the smallest spoon he could find in the kitchen, and figured "what the hell!") is absurd and almost a guaranteed death sentence.

No, I think they'd rather lose with Biden than Cuomo. If they throw in someone like Cuomo, they split the party and never have a shot at power at the federal level again.

His opinion is that there is not even a nugget of news in all the hours of "news" broadcast daily. Hopefully that attitude is not just one isolated case.

That number is not an exaggeration. IQ - 37.

No one has to tell him not to eat/drink cleaning fluids and/or things that are not commonly considered human food. Including pet food/supplies.

I'm terribly sorry, but if you are dead because you ate/drank something that is not fit for human consumption, you're either suicidal or too dangerous to be living outside of a locked and closed facility.

702 Public health service only became a uniformed service in 1944.

"General" is a usage which predates the army rank of General. There used to be a general staff of officers-general. Keep in mind that in other miliaries, they have a Brigadier where we have a brigadier-general, and they have Field Marshals where we have five-star generals of the army. There were also estates-general, attorneys-general, and the top tier of any social ranking was the zheneralle. And the god-damned term of address for these is not "General."

The uniformed branch was used mostly to go on board ships full of emigrees and do inspections, to enforce quarantine control of entry. So a naval uniform conveyed a certain amount of prestige.

My favorite thing about all of this is Pete Buttigieg.

I think he actually completely tanked his entire political future by running. Yes, he sort of became popular and raised a bunch of money. He even did well in the first couple of states.

But he'll never win a statewide race in Indiana, and if he moves to a bluer state, he won't be part of the machine there and end up back of the bus, so to speak, in terms of upward mobility.

733 Give a man a fish, he eats for a day

Teach a man to fish, and he eats fish tank cleaner and dies

734 I am not sure. Look at what they are accomplishing with the panic here. Democrats don't give a damn what happens to the economy, the worse things are the more people turn to big daddy government to fix it all.

Maybe, but here's a good thought experiment...

What would we all be saying about a "President Hillary" right now if she were doing the exact same things as President Trump? And what she said was leading to Governors all over the country ordering their states to "close"? In an election year. Effectively shutting down the Republican Primary.

Would we all be praising her handling of this and only blaming the Governors?

Something to think about...

735 171 When did Surgeons General start wearing Admiral uniforms?

It looks silly, unless this one really is an Admiral.
Posted by: Bandersnatch at March 24, 2020 01:35 PM (gd9RK)Public Health Service Commissioned Corps is one of the eight uniformed services. They use Naval ranks and wear naval uniforms with a PHSCS button and shield in lieu of the line/staff device on the sleeve.

736 Would we all be praising her handling of this and only blaming the Governors?

I agree, we all know that the media would be drooling all over her work and praising her as the savior of the world but would we be positive? I know for certain that we'd all oppose the idea of this "stimulus" whatever it contained.

737 Naval uniforms are always resplendent. I like the other dress uniforms to one degree or another but navy always looks glorious.

738 Perhaps the worst part of the story is that their fish are now swimming in a dirty aquarium.

A teaspoon is 5687 milligrams. Far more than the average 200 milligram dose.

744 Some times I look at the shit the media and half the country does says and believes and it makes be so sad and angry.

I personally bled, suffered life long injury, and had close friends die leaving holes in the lives of their families that will never be filled, for these... I don't even know what to call them...

It is folks like you Morons, the despicables of the US, that keep me from losing my religion and going out to make public demonstrations of the skills that I learned so well some 45 yrs ago.

Posted by: TSgt Ciz at March 24, 2020 03:03 PM (af5xa)

745 Really, the actual mistake they made was not putting ketchup on it. I have been eating fish tank cleaner that way for years and have only gotten ill a few times. True story.

1) since they didn't have the virus why did they take it? No one including the president claimed it could be used to prevent the virus

2) Since they didn't ask a Dr or a pharmacist the proper dosage how did they determine how much to take

3) Weren't they at least a little bit curious about the sign on the container that said: "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION" ?

I guess in our world today Orange man bad rules

Actually, it is reported to have a prophylactic effect, so yes, it might aid in prevention of infection.

Apparently it works most prohibitively in the *kills you first* dosage as well as the much lower doctor recommended dosages.

752 It's not fish tank cleaner. It's drugs for your aquarium fish, but how is the average person going to come close to getting the dosage right, and since it is for fish there may be impurities that simply don't matter to fish, but do to humans. It wasn't a smart move.
