When This Is Over, We Are Going to Have Serious Reckoning With the Media About Their Deliberate Incitement of Public Panic, Including Nonstop Senate Inquires About "American" Media Corporate Connections to China

Trump rebuts the fake news from Friday, that Trump had lied about forming a public-private partnership with Google to track coronavirus outbreaks.

The press is pushing new fake news, of course: They're pushing the deliberately panic-inciting rumor that the government is considering imposing a national curfew.

Like the ones they've panicked various cities to implement:

Should We Shut Down Twitter? For Public Health, You Understand.

16 Hey, since we're shutting down huge swaths of the economy on the whims of Jake Tapper and Brian Stetler...is there a reason we haven't shut down Twitter?

It's a major source of disinformation regarding Wuhan Flu, it's probably helping to drive cases of hoarding and supply chain disruption, it'll drive every millennial idiot with the sniffles to the ER which will choke the medical system and may eventually lead to riots and death.

Is there a reason clickbaiting, fear-porn peddlers get to keep tweeting that all our grandmas will die if we go outside, but restaurant workers have to stay home without pay for the next two months?

There *should* be a reckoning. I doubt very much that there will actually be one. Best-case probable scenario is that people trust them less and ignore them more.

But a reckoning? Forget it, boss. This is Chinatown.

Pull their WH press passes. Permanently.

RICO the hell out of the major papers; failing that, nail them for in-kind contributions to the DNC.

Pull broadcast licenses.

Defund all government-funded media.

Announce that any GOP-connected person, from the lowest city clerk to the VP, who communicates in any way with any member of the MFM will either be immediately fired or put on a persona non grata list in regards to the White House.

But that would actually require treating the MFM as the actual enemy of the people rather than just wagging a finger at them, so nothing will happen.

80 There's going to be a big reckoning with some people when this is over. That includes the media and various Democrat Governors who are taking advantage of people by spinning their propaganda in order to steal their civil rights.

During the Obama Administration, we heard the phrase "never let a good crisis go to waste". It's now become the sine qua non of Democrats during every national emergency. Instead of a time to bring us together, it's a time of opportunity. A time to further divide us, put us at each others throats, steal from each other, a time to push political agenda in bills trying to respond to the dire needs of our citizens, and more importantly, a time to steal rights from people in order to better control them.

I sat with mouth agape as the governors of NY, NJ and CT, without sufficient cause or factual reason, immediately moved to suspend the rights of people who live in their states. I even was more appalled at the fact not a single person in the media asked where they derived such powers or what the compelling evidence was to take such an extraordinary step.

What will kill our nation is not the Coronavirus or any future plague. We will recover from this. It is the rampant disinterest, apathy, and indifference of a population and the press to question any intrusion on the constitutional rights of the people who actually own this government. That will be the death of our republic, and it's time to let these people know the con is over.

What totally freaked/amused me was some guy in the cold remedies aisle dressed top to bottom in surgical attire. Scrubs, mask, Crocs, nitrile gloves, goggles and bonnet. Anyone in his path scurried away. It was like watching Moses part the Red Sea.

From there to the Costco. I gave up any hope of shopping there when I saw at least 150 people lined up around the building, waiting to enter.

It makes perfect sense, at least historically and for now. Canada is a close ally and is culturally compatible.

If they become a vassal of the Chinese, that will have to change. If they become a major public health threat, that will have to change.

For now, though, that unsecured border is generally fine. We have no better military, economic and political ally than Canada and unless that changes, the status quo is probably fine.

Friday afternoon at 4:30, my local grocery (small regional chain) was jammed with people, 10 in each checkout line and 15 along the service desk. I walked out. Saturday morning I was there when they opened, and except for ground meat and hand cleaning products, the shelves were pretty well stocked. Sunday morning there was no bread except their own brands, which are good, and the paper and hand cleaner stuff had all been picked over. Milk and cheese and frozen foods were there in plenty.

Just tuned in to the comments and was about to respond to this when I got willowed.Absolutely agree with the above rant.
I feel like I am on another planet. Everyone around me thinks this shutting down of the economy is great. That there will be no repercussions from people and businesses losing income. I am here in Mass and yesterday in addition to closing down all the bars and restaurants, they also closed the Y. This has been my saving grace, not only a chance to keep in shape but also the social interaction, just getting out of the house and talking to people. The people working at the Y yesterday were really worried about what would happen to their jobs and sure enough when I got home, the notice that they were closing indefinitely was waiting for me.My sons who have great jobs and won't lose anything during this do not understand what it is like to be retired and not be able to refill those devastated retirement accounts with new monies.
I am really feeling sorry for myself today.

I went out this morning to get corned beef and cabbage for my parents, because my mom went to her store on Saturday and they were flat out of everything. I went to my local Giant and - it was business as usual. They had pretty much everything in stock. The bread aisle looked a little light, and the paper goods aisle was pretty much bare, but other than that, they had everything.

I made a point of telling every employee (they were everywhere, stocking up) thank you and telling them what a good job they were doing. I also stopped by and told the store manager the same thing.

People didn't seem panicked at all, there were no over-stuffed carts - it was kind of amazing.

So, people NOT getting paid because they're forced to stay home is a freakin FEATURE, not a bug! Panic is a feature.
This allows them to say and do things that the Constitution either directly, or indirectly says they can't do in the name of your safety and 'general welfare'.

Then they'll solve it by throwing a shit load of money, (which they plan on taking right back from you) into various friendly pockets so they can tell us what a great job they did of saving us all.

And the things they do to solve this temporary crisis will be amazingly 'sticky' when it comes to undoing them.

Five years.
Start a ratcheting tariff on all Chinese goods, increasing semi-annually for five years. Start it at 25% and end it at 250%.

If China is such a great place to do business that living with the tariff is reasonable after that point, they're welcome to do so.

The market was crashing anyway. I suspect the rate cut and new liquidity facilities are more about bank health among the primary dealers (treasury auction participants) and foreign central bank access to dollars.

My starter was out and I was broke, so I would park on the hill so I could roll-start (I got *really* good at roll-starting that car - I could probably do it on a 0.5% incline). The woman who's house I parked in front of left me a nasty note about how she didn't appreciate me parking in front of her house to go cheat on my wife all the time.

Said we'd better quit back-sassing them when they claim the Chinese coronavirus was created in
a US bioweapons lab and sent to China by the US Army, or they would cut off pharma exports and we would "drown in sea of coronavirus." (Their US ambassador had been called in to explain why he was passing along these stories.)

What do think happens next, geniuses? Would you like to guess?

The secret to Campbell's is to understand that it's just a base for a bigger soup. Add fresh veg and meat to the base and you have a decent soup. And beans when warranted. Then add rice.

That one can can stretch to 3 meals if you get creative.

I think that's a huge part of it. People are herd animals, after all, and to try to buck the herd when everyone is panicking is a no-win situation. It's like with the schools - once a few started to close down, they ALL had to close down.

No - study what happened in 1986. If Saudi and Russia both decide they can hurt the other one more, they could drive oil back to $10, just like happened in '86. The oil war in 1986 was absolute carnage, although those who weren't in oil producing areas didn't see it. This is all setting up to be a complete repeat of that year, as far as the energy biz is concerned. Most of the existing oil producers inside the US went bankrupt that year, and even more may be headed for bankruptcy today.

654 I refuse to call this anything but Kung Flu or Wuhan Flu. PC can bite moi.
Have been fairly calm til last night. Then wanted to go on rampage of sorts seeing NYC closed down. Plastic straw that broke me, those NY politician wuhans. I am now inserting that into vocabulary of cussing.

It will be interesting to see what happens in NOLA tomorrow. Isn't it your own free will, and in Constitution, if you want to get drunk on Bourbon Street on St. Patrick's Day and take chances with Wuhan Flu, which is probably afraid of Bourbon Street. Plus blood alcohol levels so high the flu would run away.
I just don't know, y'all. I hope the Dims and MSM, causing panic and stress fall flat in a week or so and cook up another crisis.

Read the remarks of 100K people in one state getting this or testing positive. Out of that 100K, how many are asymptomatic? How many have no more than a cold? How many might have a flu for a few days and live? And how many are truly ill and in ICU??? I would hazard a guess not that many.
So let's cause complete panic, force people into stores buying stuff they normally would not, and possibly spread Wuhan Fluke to freaked out people who want to eat TP. Close businesses and make people jobless. Simply brilliant.

Now, folks who live on Gulf Coast or Atlantic are used to this type of mayhem and stupid. Having hurricane season for half the year, etc. Normal people in this area already had a sort of prep vs people with hair on fire. After 2005 and Katrina, normal people would have a couple of weeks food and stuff on hand if they can afford it. But, noooooooooooo.
I also have a hint if you are shopping now, wear a mask and fake a sneeze. People, even toilet paper people, will clear the aisle for you.
Tits up, girls. Keep whatever up, boys. Somehow sanity may prevail again.xoxo
