President Trump: The Anti-Marionette

For the Deep StateTM and the political class of America, one of the most frustrating things about President Trump is his conspicuous lack of private or secret funding. They cannot fathom a politician without strings attached, without a handler, someone who is not beholden to anyone. Because those are things that they use to control and manipulate each other.

That's why they had to invent Russian collusion.

That's why they had to go after his children with fake charges.

That's why they had to make the laughable accusation that he was somehow connected to and beholden to Jeffrey Epstein.

And on and on and on.

They cannot imagine a politician who is not part of their sleazy, backroom world in which quid pro quo is a fact of life, where money stolen from the American people is funneled from person to person in payment of political debt.

Bernie's Billionaire: How the Richest Man in Hawaii Funds Bernie's PR and Opposition Research

That's just one of thousands of examples...

It is becoming more and more obvious that Donald Trump the man is so fixated on his own independence from everything that he chafes and fights against any hint of control. That was the Democrat's fatal error in early 2017. As many people have noted in these pages, had they been even marginally collaborative they would have been much more successful in co-opting President Trump. But the instant and visceral attacks against him pushed him and his policies away from the paradigm that has been our government for generations. Did they realize early on that he was uncontrollable by conventional means? Probably. But they have been operating with the same playbook for so long they simply had no idea how to deal with a truly independent man.

Would he have been the disruptive force we are blessed with had the Democrats been smarter? Would he have remade our courts and gutted the regulatory state and protected (at least more than other presidents) our fighting men? I don't know, and it is academic at this point. But my guess is that yes, he would have, but without the urgency and speed.

So in a perverse way we have the Democrats to thank for this respite from the headlong plunge over the cliff of government power and corruption.

It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude

-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

I just don't think it was planned. I think the Chinese f'ed up and are now trying to pin their own incompetence on the US and Trump and the media is helping their ChiCom masters.

But too many businesses controlled by Dems (like the NBA and Hollywood) will be hurt by this as well because the panic is world wide. I don't think anybody intended that.

What the left is great at doing is turning a crisis to their own advantage. That's what they're trying to do now.

Yeah, but that was then. This is now. And the left has lost its mojo on that crap, because the MSM has been gelded. Trump goes right around them with Twitter, etc., and calls them out by name in his rallies.

They used to get away with it because the talking heads would sound imperious and high-minded, but in fact were Red operatives. (Think Cronkite, Rather, etc.) But now Trump has pantsed them, so they don't have nearly the influence that they had before they were unmasked.

Rubin and Kristol murdered their own careers and are too stupid to realize it, because they still think their cuck act has some sort of following outside the Beltway.

Conservatives will never trust them again. And liberals have only contempt for them, using them to serve a purpose (as the "conservative" commentators on MSNBC and CNN) but quickly smacking them down if they step out of line, like for instance, when they presume to dictate to leftists who they should vote for in the primaries. Both their Twitter feeds were full of lefties telling them "F off neocons."

If they did it explicitly, sure. But they'd do it in a sneaky fashion. For example, require that X% of 401(k)s be held in those safe safe government bonds, you know, to "protect" people from the vagaries of the stock market.

People would say, "Oh. That's OK. It's still mine, right?" Except it isn't, not really. The government can now monkey with returns, etc. as it sees fit, since they now have effectively expropriated your money.

We see this in California. The Reds here hate Prop. 13 with a purple passion, because it prevents them from hosing the bourgeoisie ... oooh, did I say that out loud? I meant the "property-owning middle class," as they were doing before Prop. 13.

So now the Reds are trying to circumvent this state constitutional amendment by peeling off commercial real estate from its provisions. Next up will be a "parcel tax," nothing to do with a property tax. No, nothing at all. They'll still observe Prop. 13, they'll just have another tax, this one on the parcel of land, that's all. Nothing to do with a property tax. Nosir.

148 Of course it's unknowable, but I don't think the vile and unhinged reaction to Trump made any difference where it matters, policy.

Trump is notable not for his independence, but for his policy positions on key matters, and above all, *FOR DOING WHAT HE SAID HE'D DO*.

Border security/immigration rule of law, trade policy, judges - all things that literally and without question made him first the nominee, then the president.

On none of these would a different reaction have changed things.

The "control/manipulation" of leaders - pretty much exaggerated I think, because it ignores that these people/groups backing them *want the policies they deliver* - is a means to an end, not an end in itself.

It's Trump's policies they abhor.

They care far more about no border, mass labor importation (this includes 90% of the GOP, including those Trump has been endorsing robotically), etc than they care about the stupid Dem-lite policies Trump has delivered (jail-break, family leave). So there's no "credit" for those.

Policies are what matter, not labels, $, or histrionics. At least for those in power, not the screaming idiots on the sidelines, whose TDS understandably draws the eyeballs.

163 Trump put out a list of judicial nominees during the campaign. It was serious, it was widely hailed by "conservatives". He's sticking to it in office.

This was, literally again, a specific reason many said they needed to support him.

He had specific important policy commitments that he's sticking to.

No sane or normal reaction from the Dems would have changed that a bit.

Heard on a talk show Friday that NBA owners have insurance policies to provide for situations such as these, so possible that they won't be hurt by the shut downs. Or, at least not hurt as bad. How many other companies have policies that kick in once a "National Emergency" is declared by the CinC?

This virus is going to be a point of inflection in western society and human history. We are going to experience several weeks of greatly diminished traffic jams and fuel usage and crowding in metropolitan businesses.
This is going to lead to the final firm realization in the business world, and in employees, that work is generally an activity, not a location and that there are man financial and human and environmental benefits to leveraging the internet to disperse the US work force.
That will reduce demand for commercial real-estate freeing up cheaper housing in metro centers, at that same time, people will begin to relocate out of Metro centers because they will no longer feel tied to having to be "close to the office".
The result of that will be a resurgence of rural living and rural values.

Give it 10 to 20 years and you'll see the City States begin to completely unwind and devolve into dystopian centers of remainders and poor.

195 The Rodney King riots led to nightlife/entertainment becoming much more disbursed in the LA area - outlying areas like Pasadena, which had historically been strictly bedroom/small commerce communities, where the streets rolled up at 6PM, started to get restaurants, bars, clubs, etc.

Westwood/West LA (historically, post-war, what had become the nexus of nightlife and entertainment) lost that central status.

Of course there had always been "satellite" entertainment areas (LA area is about the size of CT, if you're being serious about contiguous urban/suburban area). But from what I saw/was told, the riots gave a big boost to the trend.

Don't see this changing the existing trends overall, for work or housing, though. Think those will continue to be driven by costs, convenience, commute time, etc.

When it first was reported to the court by DOJ, I found it to be almost funny - so ridiculous was it, in the context of a "case" that was obviously horseshit from the get-go, and would have been laughed out of court in an America that existed up til recently.

As I said earlier, I think Powell (probably Flynn too) prefer to unravel the case/expose the abuses through the judicial process itself (that certainly is the best explanation for the behavior since Powell took over).

254 Trump has governed, mostly, exactly as he campaigned.

The vile attacks on him and his family did not make him draw up a list of judicial nominees he's sticking to. They did not make him implement his decades' long firm beliefs about trade. They did not make him pursue his actual signature policies, on immigration rule of law and border security, that made him the nominee. He adopted those positions and is carrying them out because he has very high political integrity - a stark contrast to the clumsily mendacious non-entity Obama, and also to weak and irresponsible GOP leaders.

Whatever.

This was a Black Swan event, and I think that people understand that this was (mostly) outside Gov't control.

(I say mostly, because the CDC was asleep as the switch, probably for years. There is no excuse for them not to game out what could have happened with a pandemic, especially after the Ebola scare. Less gun violence epidemic and more bio pandemic, please!)

That being said, I think we're going to have to go public with our support for PDJT. We need to start to canvas door to door. We need to get bumper stickers for our cars, even though they may get keyed. We need to get those sweeeet SPACE FORCE t-shirts and swag. The media will do anything to drag that spittle-flecked Yuri Andropov-like bag of grifty awfulness named Joe Biden across the finish line in November.

I think Trump is signaling to the court that one way or another Flynn is going to get off. Even those who don't like Flynn or think he is a bad guy have to see that the Obama FBI/DOJ was hopelessly corrupt and that includes judge Sullivan.

Any job where that is a risk, is already at risk specifically because of the cost of housing a work force in a Metro area. Dispersal is your best chance at being competitive when you go from living where the median home is >750k to one where twice the home and land is <200k and you drop the commute costs.

I'm in a very blue part of a very blue state, and went to get some coffee today in a coffee shop (NOT starbucks!) which was busy, because everything else is closed.

An acquaintance who happened to be there started in on OrangeManBad, and the WHO offered us test kits and O.M.B refused them, and this is all O.M.B's fault, and on and on. Normally I wouldn't bother getting into it because I don't want my coffee poisoned but I realized in that instant that I have to start pushing back.

So I did, quoting Friday's White House briefing that I watched from start to finish. As soon as facts joined the conversation, all of a sudden it was crickets from everybody else. But I did wait until my coffee was in my hands before letting loose.

Yup. Dumb and mean.

They have a narrative (coordinated with the DNC), so when DJT goes in a different direction (instead of ceding decisions to the scientists and CDC, he engages private businesses) they can't deal. Lacking the ability, flexibility to deal with him (once again) not doing whet all the DC conventional wisdom insists must be done, they keep going as if he did. They have a plan and they follow through, despite the plan/narrative not applying to what just happened.

But the ones that REALLY pissed me off were the questions that had just been addressed in the presentation.

Every hill the left demands we surrender is the hill to die on. Except we're not dying. We're winning.. Thank you to Trump for his leadership in saying F.U. when pushed by the left to surrender.

This.

Beautifully stated.

This exactly!! The other lesson is about "the hill to die on" is another lie they told and we accepted. Like everything else they say it's opposite of true. The reality is that as we stand up for ourselves, they fall down!

388 45 The Fake News Narrative: Testing! We need Testing! Where's the Testing!!

One of my coworkers was blabbering about that, so I told him: "Right on, because if you test okay at the doctor's this afternoon, and you go to the movies tonight, and the snack bar kid sneezes in your popcorn... you're still protected! I don't know how that works, but I wish Biden would fucking explain it to Trump!"

394 A few weeks after the 2016 election I sat down with the smartest man I know (a very conservative engineering professor) and discussed Trump. He says he could see Trump being an absolute disaster or Trump could be the greatest president in 100 years. It was a complete wildcard to him. I kind of shared his take. Fast forward 3 years and I can say we both agree that Trump has been the miracle we needed after 8 years of that scoamf. He had done things to change this country that are generational. The libs knows this and scramble to stop him but, like their ideology, it is doomed to fail. Trump really DGAF.

This may be entirely to nerdish for the horde, but there are comparisons to Trump and the Halo main character Master Chief. The AI Cortana in the game states that she chose Master Chief out of all the other Spartans only because he was lucky, that things always went his way. This is Trump. He is the luckiest SOB I've ever seen. He seems to step in the shit over and over but comes out smelling like a rose. I'll take lucky on my side every time.

397 I have a feeling that the "debate" between breadline and flatline is going to be spectacular.
I can already hear the excuses team flatline is preparing. "It wasn't the usual debate scene" (as if that wouldn't have made it even worse).

I hope Bernie just lets him talk endlessly.
If I were breadline, that is exactly how I would approach tonight.

402 A Willowing.

We had a glorious week of eating out every night, not a single meal at a
chain or franchise, every one a favorite, owned by a family. Had a loverly brunch with the Spartans, and tonight we dine in Hell. Going out now for the extra-large prime rib for two, by the lakefront. Then
the lights go out.

Getting the race car ready for the big one, with Fred Astaire.

We took chances: we knew we took them.
Things have turned out badly.
For God's sake, take care of our people.

404 I yield to no-one in my admiration of Trump, & I've got the cancelled checks & email receipts to prove it.

If the election were next week, I think Trump would lose. That's why I'm not much interested in discussing his second term.

We all know that Biden is a demented, doddering POS. And we all USED TO KNOW that he would be the toughest DEM out there to beat in 2020. He still is, imo.
