I don't know how wide spread it is, but I am getting the sesnse that this is happening for at least a few people.
They've been told their whole lives through every media, every politician, every teacher, that Republicans and conservatives are these extremist freak radical weirdos who want to put black people in chains, make every woman pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen, ban fun, and force you to bow to Jesus.
As time has gone on, and Trump has become the face of the Republican party, Youtubers, social media faces, and podcasts have demonstrated that the right is actually pretty tame and laid back for the most part, they have seen another fact:
The left is a raving bunch of extremist freaks and loons. They were able to hide it pretty well in the past, but the mask hasn't just been ripped off, but people like AOC and Sanders have torn the flesh of their face off with it and are scowling like the aliens from They Live, all raw bone and muscle and eyeballs.
And the comparison does not flatter the left.
Men in girl's changing rooms, pedophiles, letting murders go because they're illegal aliens, defending radical muslim murderers, the list goes on and on of stuff that doesn't just make people go "nah" but "WHAT THE LIVING HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU???"

I take nothing for granted. They are all Venezuela style "socialists" They can talk Denmark and Norway till they are blue. They don't know a thing about those countries and neither do their constituents. They are Cuban style, they see their enemies in fellow countrymen.
The Bernie gang up is just a ploy because he is gaining traction. 90 percent of the populace could not tell you a salient point about Buttigeg or Klobuchar. These people would say and do anything to win. If pretending to be lest socialist is advantageous at this point, then that is what they will do.
But Bernie is likely more dangerous than those two. He inspires crowds while they do not. He has a real agenda while they do not. He will well known while they are not. They are all firing on him because he is a threat to THEM, not because they want to save us from him.

Does anyone else think that Donald Trump talks to his people on a regular basis, or am I the only one? Because there are times from the comments I get this idea that none of these people communicate with each other, pick up the phone, have aides do that, you know - talk. The impression I get is people think everyone else - Trump, cabinet secretaries, senators - exist in silos and only communicate with each other through slams in the press.
And that just doesn't sounf realistic at all.

Rince Preebus was on TV last week, talking about this issue.
He railed on the Demos. In 2016, the Repubs made the rule that the winner of the popular vote gets all the EV for that state.
Even if the winner gets 28% of the vote, they get 100% of the EV's. Winners, losers. No split the baby stuff.
Demos chose to split all their votes proportionally, mostly, and the result insures there will be no leader, only a bunch of losers.
So the Democrats chose the brokered convention they are sure to suffer this summer. They knowingly chose it.

But I'm sure his views over time have changed.
It used to be conservatives that pushed for easy immigration because business owners wanted it and liberals were for border security wanted to protect their worker class voters from a race to the bottom.
I might have backed Mondale over Reagan in 1984 over this one issue, but of course back then, illegal immigration was basically farm hands and maids in just a few border states.

They wanted to force a very complex diverse group of politicians to agree on something or nothing would happen, Thus the House is the representative of the people in a "local" district; the Senate was to be the representative of the individual States as selected by their respective legislatures; and the President was to be elected by the people as a Nation, but filtered by trusted electors that were selected at the State level via the Electoral College.

The general purpose is not so much an end run around state-wide popular votes, but that states could arrange how electors worked as they pleased(some states split proportionally, most do a plurality takes all, a few others have systems specific to the state).

I would like a Constitutional Amendment.
Its a compromise between the Popular vote, and the Electoral College.
As each Congressional district is supposed to be about the same amount of people, make each district its own mini election for the Electoral Vote, and whoever wins the State gets the two that Represents the Senators.

The "least democratic" parts of the Constitution are an intricate part of the social compact among the states. If either the EC or Senate were abolished, every state would be within its rights to leave the union. A left-wing professor recently acknowledge this (sorry, no link) and suggested a Potemkin EC and Senate to prevent dissolution. That's the thing with progs: it ain't worth it unless someone suffers under their heavy hand.

I would like a Constitutional Amendment.
Its a compromise between the Popular vote, and the Electoral College.
As each Congressional district is supposed to be about the same amount of people, make each district its own mini election for the Electoral Vote, and whoever wins the State gets the two that Represents the Senators.
Kills winner take all, but makes it a truly National Election.

Yeah there are legitimate reasons for electors to go against who the state votes for. Because more idiots in other states voted for the other guy isn't one of those. But unfortunately exceptions to when an elector can change his vote weren't written in so it would of course be a perversion or the constitution and intent of the founders. In the 1940's, Harvard Medical School explicitly discriminated against women. They had records of what their graduates were doing - almost all the men were full-time physicians, but a large fraction of the women were part-time, or weren't using their degrees at all.
They wanted to train people who actually would use their medical degrees. Imagine trying to do that today, even with similar data.

It was definitely deeply flawed as written.
The idea of a point system with the states makes perfect sense to me, but giving that "point" a choice as some sort of circuit breaker is just crazy.
And we've already seen people attempt to blow everything up with that vote when given a chance, we're just lucky so far.

I imagine that the Founders didn't expect this freedom to be exercised on a whim but rather at the direction of the State Government. There was a very long time between the election and the inauguration prior to the 20th Amendment. The Inauguration was originally in March. Plenty of time for a State Legislature to decide that there was no much fraud in an election, as an example, that they would change the result.

And why is this, you ask? I can tell you: because they've been accustomed to being taken care of all of their lives. First it was Dad, then it was hubby, eventually it'll be a son. The idea of having to look out for themselves never occurs to many of them.
Evidence? Your car won't start. If you're male, that's your problem. Men expect other men to take care of business. If you're female, you can expect that men will come to your aid, and make the problem go away.
The obverse side of this coin is that women are vulnerable where men are not (not so much, anyway).
Now I have no problem with the chivalric approach, and indeed whole-heartedly subscribe to it, and have helped any number of women in distress. But it makes such women not do the calculations of where their interests lie.

I just cam back from taking a trip to the local "dump" (not really a "dump" anymore, but instead a recycling/compost/sorting/"transfer station" that used to be the dump before it got all "greenwashed").
Anyway, a favorite pastime of everyone is to pick through the castoffs of everyone else before the employees get to it or shoo you away. Half the time, someone will come, unload their junk, then notice sometime interesting unloaded by someone else, and end up taking it home.
Anyway, that's what happened to me. Unloaded y junk, then saw that some previous person had discard this shiny white box with an Apple logo on it -- seemed to be in pristine condition.
Not even know what it was, I nabbed it and brought it home.
Turns out, after a bit of research, to be a 3-terabyte Apple "Time Capsule" device, which is a combination Internet router (supplying wifi -- superfast) and 3-terabyte wireless backup drive. (Costs $500 new!)
I could see than the previous owner had frequently jabbed a leaky-ink ballpount pen tip into the "reset" hole, indiscating that he was frantically trying to fix it, which means it was broken. He apparnetly gave up, and junked it.
But I am not one to give up so easily, and in 20 minutes had tracked down the instructions for how to reset it to factory settings. At first the thing was indeed broken, but after doing the reset steps -- bingo, it came back to life! Set it up with the Internet connection, and bingo -- now I've got faster stronger wifi!
AND THEN...I saw that the previous owner's backed-up computer hard drive WAS STILL ON THE 3-TERABYTE DRIVE.
So now I have
-- all his banking information
-- all his personal photos
-- everything about everything in his life
-- etc.
Unfortunately. he seemed to be a pretty boring dude, but if I was an ehtical person, I could do all sorts of "identity theft" shenanigans. Of course I'm not a criminal, so I would never do such a thing, but the guy just got lucky it wa sme who found -- most of the people rummaging around at the dump ARE probably criminals.
Moral of the story, to repeat:

I've thought about scrounging monitors from recycling stations. Many monitors for a while failed because they included shitty electrolytic capacitors (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague) that could be easily replaced. I desoldered four such capacitors from my elder's son monitor, replaced them with good one, soldered them in, and the monitor has been golden ever since.

IU had a 14 floor research side to the university library. 14 floors. Freshman year I would just pick a floor in the elevator and just wander around. On one floor I found a section with maps. Now, admittedly, once i started going out and drinking and well, just women, I stopped going as much, but it was still not something I would want to have missed out on.

Yeah when I went back to school (admittedly later in life) I spent a lot of time in the library looking at stuff. They had archives down in the basement that had all kinds of cool stuff, like diaries and journals from pioneers. There wasn't anyone down there looking at it back then either (other than me).

Take the hard drives apart. Aside from needing a special screwdriver, which is a buck or two at Harbor Freight, it is easy. There is a nice strong rare earth magnet in there that is worth keeping. Once you get the platter out of the hard drive. Heating it red hot should wipe any magnetism from it, or else take a disc grinder to it, and rough up both surfaces harshly. Or drill a lot of holes.

This has been my problem with this whole DOJ wayward thing - Bill Barr, nor ABC, nor you nor I are the CLEO of the US - its DJ Trump whether that makes anyone upset or not...the DOJ is NOT constitutionally independent of the Executive, period. They are the same. If Trump wants to risk getting unelected by prosecuting political enemies that the DOJ has determined have committed crimes, hey, its his party, he's paying for it - too bad for everyone else, including Bill. He can resign or do his job. A job defined by the guy he just said on national TV makes it "hard on him."
I get the politics involved, but at some point if the President is pissed that the DOJ is a fucked up clown car - then he has every right to tell ANY f-ing person he wants his opinion and the DOJ had better listen.

Personally, I am hoping the DNC steals it from Bernie again because the Bernie-Bros will go nuts and at least 20% of the Democrats would not vote or try to go third party. Slow Joe is already wilting under the pressure of the Democratic nomination, in the real deal, I think he would go full 'Scanners'.

Because there are times from the comments I get this idea that none of these people communicate with each other, pick up the phone, have aides do that, you know - talk. The impression I get is people think everyone else - Trump, cabinet secretaries, senators - exist in silos and only communicate with each other through slams in the press.
And that just doesn't sound realistic at all.
