Morning Consult National Poll, Post-New Hampshire: Sanders Rises to 29%, Opens Up a Ten Point Lead on Biden (19%)

Politico previewed Biden's collapse yesterday:

"There’s blood in the water," said Quentin James, executive director of The Collective, a political action committee that backs African American candidates. "Black voters are starting to leave him now.... A big reason lots of black voters were with Biden is they thought he was the best person to beat Trump. And they thought one reason for that is that he had the support of white voters. Now they see he has done so poorly with white voters and he no longer looks like the electability candidate."

...

"This is horrendous. We're all scared," said a Biden adviser, speaking anonymously because the comments conflict with the brave public face the campaign is trying to broadcast. "I think we're going to make it to South Carolina. I know we're supposed to say we're going to and we’re going to win. But I just don’t know."

As noted by RedState, Van Jones predicted this too. He noted that Biden expects black voters to make up with all his "deficits" with other voters.

But he also pointed out that black people switched to supporting Obama when they saw Obama could win white votes. (In Iowa, I think.)

But now they're looking at Biden -- the supposedly "electable" candidate -- and seeing that no one is voting for him except black people.

Biden's event in South Carolina -- which was an attempt to distract from his disaster in New Hampshire -- was itself, get this, a disaster.

kristol-boot-npc.jpg

The exodus seems to be happening.

Meanwhile, NeverTrump quislings and kapos -- who joined a Republican Party they had no particular attachment to just to take it over and lead it ruinously -- are now attempting to issue orders to their new party, the Democrat Party.

And -- this is amusing -- Democrats are telling them to go f*** themselves.

So we have that much in common.

The problem? Just as in 2016 with the Republican party, essentially no one in the Democrat party cares what they think. In fact, the tiny number of overly-represented media voices that have centered their existence around defeating the orange man is becoming more and more unwelcome in their new home.

Honestly, I kind of get it. Republicans had to deal with this unearned sense of entitlement and superiority throughout the 2016 election. Now they want to jump into a new party and start dictating who that party should nominate in the very next election? That’s pretty presumptive on their part.

It also shows an out-sized self-evaluation of their own intellect. These are the same people who got every single thing about 2016 wrong. Why would any Democrat heed their "warnings" about Bernie Sanders when they’ve shown to be awful at political prognostication? The fact that Never Trump are so certain he'll lose to Trump actually makes me think Bernie might perhaps be the toughest challenger.

Jazz finger-snaps in applause.

Trump will scoop up significant numbers of black votes.

I hope Sanders gets the nomination because Trump will wipe the floor with him. Maybe it's better if the DNC steals it from him again and destroys the party for good.

Either way.

26 It's also fascinating to realize that none of this would matter if the (D)s could've slowed themselves down a tiny bit and not tried to do every single thing all at once. Just a bit at a time and there certainly never would've been Trump. More likely there never would've been another conservative president ever again.

Couldn't help themselves, though. Thank goodness. It's like RBG holding off on retirement because where she urinates is so important that she wanted someone else who urinates similarly to appoint her replacement (who I'm sure would urinate through similar means).

I'm not surprised, any more than I was by Harris's collapse, or Beatoff's, and for the same reason.

On paper they each looked good, but more exposure was not their friend. The more exposure they got, the more their warts became apparent.

I knew Harris from California, and I knew she was a piece of work, and could not hide (and hadn't had to, previously). But Warren hits the exact same note, with the shrill hectoring HOA Nazi shtick, and the head tosses, etc., while Beatoff came across as a half-deranged druggie.

I don't know how to factor Bloomberg into the race...my gut tells me the base will never support a white billionaire buying his way into the race, but a lot of the Dem party IS rich white tyrants that want to use the government to control people's lives, so maybe he'll have a dedicated core of support, too.

For example, overusing rare and faddish words like jejune, and coming up with illogical, convoluted conclusions (the conservstive case for Marx!) to pretend that their absurd posturing is actually elevated, superior thought far above us mere Trump-supporting untermensch.

I'm not impressed, I also have a full of ten dollar words. I just have the sense not to bludgeon people over the head with them in an attempt to sell myself as something in not.

494 A revealing part about the way the media writes about Mayor Pete is that they always mention how he struggles to attract black voters, but they never explain why that is. Of course it is because black voters aren't nearly as tolerant of the gay lifestyle as whites. But the media can't report that a major Democrat constituency that is vital to winning is also largely homophobic, nevermind all the racism and sexism and the rest of the alphabet of --sms and -phobias they attribute to Trump's success.

In particular black men look at a baller like Trump married to Melania compared to Pete and if he's the nominee I think we will see a major, decisive move to Trump from them.

Red State was a major "Orange Man Bad" contributor for quite a long while until people started walking away from them. Then, they toned it down....because...(wait for it)....populism. They decried populist politics non-stop....until their livelihood depended on being more popular. Same with these brain dead, grifting Cucks. Their existence depends on populism...literally populist politics....and yet, that's what they claim to hate most.

So yeah, hypocrisy from both the messenger and the message. Both the Cucks, and Red State have no credibility because they will sell their principles for popularity. And, it means little to me if I even agree with either. They have no credibility..and therefore, no substance.

548 "Africa" , by Hemingway

(okay it's actually by Anthony Sams)

At the airport the young man heard far-off drums echoing in the night. He imagined the young woman in the plane sitting still, hearing whispers of a quiet conversation near the rear of the fuselage. He glanced down at his father's wristwatch-12:30. The flight was on time.

The plane's wings were moonlit and reflected the stars. The moonlight had guided him there, toward this salvation. He had stopped an older man along the way, hoping to find some long forgotten words, or perhaps an ancient melody, for such an occasion. The old man had said nothing at first, and instead stared cryptically into the sodden earth. Then he raised his head and turned slowly.

"Hurry, boy. It's waiting there for you," the old man had said.

The plane was almost gliding. The young man looked at the wristwatch again. His head spun from whiskey and soda. She was a damned nice woman. It would take a lot to drag him away from her. It was unlikely that a hundred men or more could ever do such a thing. The air, now thick and moist, seemed to carry rain again. He blessed the rains of Africa. They were the only thing left to bless in this forsaken place, he thought-at least until she set foot on the continent. They were going to take some time to do the things they never had.

He stood on the tarmac and watched as the plane came in for its landing. He heard the sound of wild dogs crying out into the night. The man thought the dogs sounded desperate, perhaps having grown restless and longing for some company. He knew the feeling. The crying of the dogs reminded him that he would need to do what he knew was right now that she was here. Of this he was as certain as Kilimanjaro rising like Olympus above the Serengeti. He had traveled and sought to cure what was deep inside him, what frightened him of himself.

The plane landed and stopped. He hurried. She would be waiting there for him.

567 Probably apocryphal, but I heard that it was Hemingway (I think) who took up a journalist who, after seeing the length of the books his crowd was churning out, challenged them to tell an entire story in a single sentence.

He did it as "Baby clothes for sale, never used."

And it is indeed an entire, sad story.

Dunces is fun, especially since it's set in the Noo Awlins of my childhood. Toole was the first writer I ever found who actually reproduced the way N'Awlins people talk. Most writers used "chillun" as white and black dialect for "children." Toole wrote "chirren," which is dead-on accurate.

When I read that, I was hooked.

A former member of my writing group, a lady from Nebraska, stated flatly she didn't find the book funny in the least. I stopped listening to her after that.

Believing in Bernie's pie-in-the-sky free shit nonsense requires ignorance and stupidity.
I am amazed at how many people in this country don't see what's wrong with his program; it should be clear as day.

I think his campaign was largely waged in the schools for the last two generations. It was pre-fought there by others, and all he has to do now is show up, say something or other, and not piss himself.

Yet another way he's a welfare leech.

614 These Never Trumpers remind me of my ex-best friend in middle school. We were both very awkward at that age and had few other friends. Anyway, at one point, he decided that I was holding him back from being popular, so he ended our years-long friendship. But this didn't work. He was still awkward, despite the trendy clothes he bought around the same time. The popular kids didn't think more of him, as he was clearly a poser. Worse, they actually felt bad for me and didn't respect someone who would knife his best friend like that. Anyway, I moved away a couple years later and made a lot of friends at my new school because I had grown out of my awkward phase by then. Last I heard, he was still a loser. These Never Trumpers will never truly be accepted by real liberals, who only are pretending to like them if they are useful to advance their cause. They're losers that neither side respects.
