I actually think - and this is just a gut feeling, from my estimation of who Barr, the man, is - that in this hearing before Nadler on March 31, Barr is gonna uncork a can of whoopass. It's going to be the perfect opportunity for him to unload a lot of what he knows in the broadest possible venue, and he has the excuse that the Dems asked for it, so he has to give it to them.
Also, if this is what he has planned, he won't say much at all about it for the next 6 weeks, because he doesn't want to scare them off.
There have been very few Congressional hearings in my lifetime that have ever really amounted to much - but I remember Ollie North's Iran Contra hearing was Epic. This one could turn out to be similar.

This is very true, and very common in business. These diseased departments always fall into factions, and the biggest problem is that the good guys get demoralized and look like troublemakers (from above) and the bad guys get into positions of trust by being good at looking loyal (from above.) It is so hard to know who to trust, and so easy to make the situation 10x worse by firing the wrong people.
Of course, when they testify against you to congress you can usually know which category they are in.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that, even though it took some finagling and an epic fail by the Dems, he ended up with 52 Senators on his side. Originally I thought it would be lower. Plus 197 House members, not a majority, but still a good measure of who's on his team.

We're often talking about silverware and china that's never been used, knicknacks and books that were for display, etc. There was once a market in selling this stuff with the notion that it would be passed down for many generations, but that doesn't happen by just buying random things.

I'm in the process of doing this mainly because I'm selling a house and probably moving into a condo. I was not surprised when my kids were not interested in a formal Cherry dining room or silver pieces that I never even used. It is not because they are looking for the money but because styles have changed and the things we valued are not valued by there generation. They still have solid values, both kids married and families and are wonderfully supportive but the fact that they don;t want the burden of old fashioned belongings is not suprising. After all, I don;t even want them anymore.

I'm going to disagree a bit here. I agree that the idea of passing it down for generations has gone away for the most part. But even people with full sets of things aren't able to give them away. I saw a post elsewhere on ye olde internet from someone who was hauling stuff to the dump and another person was there, in tears, throwing away boxes of her late sister's fine china and crystalware that she couldn't give to anyone. The person asked to look at what hadn't been tossed and saved a bunch of it because she knew it had value.
There are websites that will allow people to sell fine china to them so others can complete collections.

Responding to content from the last thread because I was too busy for it when it was germane and I don't care about stories about criminals who will never be punished.
Let me put it this way:
Leaving my personal position (which is fine) aside... I am, at this very moment, preparing a materials order that represents a larger outlay of cash than my company has spent on this type of material in the last ten years combined.
The order alone will take a couple weeks to place, because it will cover materials for branches in sixty cities. We are doing this:
1.) because we can. The money is there; and
2.) because it will help our plans to grow as quickly as we can in the current badass business environment. Strike while the iron's hot, hot, hot!!
Anyone who can't see what's happening out here isn't looking.

Understand that to make things stick in this environment, evidence has to be airtight and in triplicate.
