The Soyciety Pages: Ol' "Three-Wives Charlie" Sykes: I'm Glad My Liberal Media Allies Aren't Covering the Story of the Terrorist In Florida Who Tried to Run Down Republicans. Attempting to Kill Republicans Just Isn't an Important Story.

Plus: The Bulwark, wasting no time, starts making "The Conservative Case for Bernie Sanders"

🚢 🚢 🚢 🚢 🚢

One NeverTrumper/Bulwark Hanger-On complained that the New York Times still had not covered the admitted politically-motivated, anti-Trump/anti-Republican terrorist who tried to run down GOP volunteers signing people up to vote.

Charlie "3-Wives" Sykes actually stepped in to argue: No, it's good the media isn't covering that, because it's not a big enough story. We have important stories to cover like Orange Man Bad, which hasn't gotten enough coverage the last three years.

charlie3wivessykessupportsattackingrepublicans

Even this c*cked-out, tucked-under sissybitch feels the need to distance himself from his political ally's nigh-open support of leftist violence against conservatives:

As a friend says: how much of a leftwing sycophant and c*ck do you have to be to get Ramesh Ponuru to say "Nah, Brah"?

The Bulwark mentions the mentally-ill man who ran down a body of mostly-antifa supporters in Charlottesville three fucking years ago, killing one person, about once every two weeks.

They just can't stop talking about The Charlottesville Massacre.

That's a Politically-Motivated Run-Down story from three years ago -- with an assailant who was too mentally ill to really be said to be operating with normal political motives -- and The Bulwark still covers it as if it happened this past weekend.

But now comes a leftwinger -- and Charlie Sykes political ally -- attempting to murder GOP volunteers just for signing people up to vote, and Charlie Sykes says, "No, we shouldn't be covering leftist attempts to murder Republicans."

I guess Republican lives just aren't worth anything to the Bulwark Boyz.

conservativecase

A friend says, "Somebody should ask him if he’s going to hire the van driver to write at The Bulwark."

Why not? They've added every other otherwise-unemployable misfit and nitwit.

I'm sure Pierre Omidyar can set aside a little extra money to land this outside-the-box thinker and self-starter.

As a wise man said:

They hate you, too. They're attacking me so they can get to you next.

Kind of hard to rebut Trump when you're publicly declaring that a few broken Republican bodies are no big deal compared to the Greater Good of attacking The Bad Orange Man.

Is today the day you're paid to suck Pierre Omidyar's dick, Charlie, or is it Bill's day today?

Are you sucking George Soros' dick today, Charlie? What's his ass taste like?

You nasty, vile, fat, old gay-for-pay bathhouse hustlers.

🚢 🚢 🚢 🚢 🚢

By the way: Do you guys think that the Bulwark has already worked out its schedule for "slowly, reluctantly" accepting Bernie Sanders, a communist, as the "true conservative" in the race?

Do you think they've already planned out their first tentative ventures in this line? Do you think they've assigned writers to cover the various ways in which the communist Bernie Sanders is truly "conservative," on a deeper level?

Because I do.

Even this pathetic c**k is saying that some, ahem, "principled" conservatives are going to start working hard to "justify" supporting Bernie Sanders.

I think Ol' Dan will be one of the late adopters to the "Bernie is really 'conservative' on a fundamental level" party.

But he'll be there.

They all will. In six more months, this group of Twitter Sissies will be pronouncing Bernie Sanders' honeymoon in the Soviet Union as "Reaganite, in its own way."

Incidentally, I still have not stopped marveling at the idea -- adopted by half of National Review -- that Barack Obama's Vice President, the man who was actually more liberal in the Senate than Barack Obama himself, the man who was a partner in installing the most leftwing, socialist government the United States ever had -- was some kind of "conservative" that "principled conservatives" like BaseballC**k could get behind as a "conservative alternative to Trump."

Joe Biden wasn't chosen as an ideological contrast to Obama. As I mentioned, his voting record was actually more leftwing than Obama's.

He was only chosen as a racial "balance" to Obama.

And yet just four years after conservatives finally saw the end of the Obama/Biden administration, the "True Cons" and "principled conservatives" are/were pushing for an Obama Restoration with Joe Biden completing Obama's Third Term.

This is your Intellectual Class, Conservatives!

Do you feel satisfied? Do you feel like you've gotten good value for your money and patronage?

Joe Biden was never a conservative alternative to anything. He was simply rebranded that by a chronically mendacious and mercenary group of bitter dead-enders of a discarded Ruling Class.

They needed, for Branding Purposes, for Joe Biden to be "conservative," and so with just a few Twitter threads and National Review posts, he was remade into that.

But oh, don't listen to Trump. Trump lies. And the way Trump supporters believe all the silly lies he tells? How cultish!

🚢 🚢 🚢 🚢 🚢

Update: Above, I asked rhetorically, do you think they've already picked out which writer would be the first to earn Pierre Omidyar's March check by writing The Conservative Case for Bernie Sanders.

I was going to say, Jonathan V. Last as my guess. But I withheld.

Well, faint heart never won fair Pierre Omidyar's donations.

Because if I had said "Jonathan V. Last would be the first to write The Conservative Case for Bernie Sanders," I would have been right!

From The Bulwark's newsletter this morning:

2. Policy vs. Corruption

You may like or dislike Bernie's politics. That's a matter of ideology.

What is dangerous about Trump is not his ideological predilections, but his mode of governance. It's the corruption of the system itself.

Did I not just say they would find a "deeper way" in which Bernie Sanders is more "conservative" than Trump?

DID I NOT?!!

Here's the thing: You can say "socialism is horrible!" And you would be correct. (Mostly.) But the choice isn't merely:

(A) America elects Sanders and becomes Venezuela, or
(B) America elects Trump and stays great.

I mean, for starters, Bernie is not going to eliminate private health insurance any more than Trump has built a wall from coast to coast that Mexico paid for. When you hear about Bernie's "socialism," take it seriously, not literally.

But also, because the real choice is:

(A) America elects a socialist who tries to enact legislative polices that may or may not pass, or

(B) America elects a guy who is systematically dismantling the rule of law.

Bernie is Moar Conservative in maintaining the Rule of Law.

Socialists are famous for maintaining the rule of law, Your Conservative Intellectual Elite has decided.

Look: You can fix bad policy. If the government passes legislation that you think is too liberal or too conservative, you can change that the next time your side takes power. Policy can be course corrected.

But you can't "fix" the rule of law. Once it's broken, it's gone. It's gangsterism all the way to the horizon.

If Bernie is the nominee, that's what the real choice will be and anyone who wants to pretend otherwise is just trying to build an alibi for themselves to explain why, when the chips were down, they went with their party preference. Again.

He's now attempting to shame Republicans who will vote for their mere "party preference" instead of voting for the clearly Moar Conservative Communist alternative.

When I was talking about "when do you think they'll start pushing Sanders as conservative," I was in fact being serious, and I wasn't joking. I knew they'd do this. They have done every awful thing I've predicted they would do.

But I did not think the answer to the question "When will they start selling Communism as Fundamentally Conservative?" would be Today.

Oh, PS, having thought it over some more, I'm very very sorry we swept aside this intellectual rot and not-so-hidden sexual admiration for Barack Obama. Clearly, these "men" were and are True Conservatives and Intellectual Titans and we were really very wrong and ignorant to reject their sage, steady leadership.

Do you think that if we beg them, they'll agree to Rule over us once again, and guide our Uneducated positions to become more polite and effeminate?

Do you think they'll do it if we promise as an inducement that we'll sleep with their vile hag wives and let them watch?

I've always wondered why wearing blinged out yellow stars on their clothes has never been popular among American Jews. It would have all the defiant aggression of a MAGA hat combined with reminding people that Jews are really, really hard to kill.

According to Larry David, wearing a MAGA hat may in fact help you avoid beatings by enraged right wing extremists. Truth in art, I say.

I've always wondered why wearing blinged out yellow stars on their clothes has never been popular among American Jews. It would have all the defiant aggression of a MAGA hat combined with reminding people that Jews are really, really hard to kill.

84 I try, just as a self-check you understand, to take a deep breath and ask (breathes in deeply and then out slowly) have my biases and glee at leftist distress blinded me to an attack on the rule of law in America?

Usually, usually even if I ultimately disagree, I can figure out the thinking behind a weird left-wing point of view. I can figure out the thinking behind a statist right-wing point of view.

What rule of law *precisely* do they figure is being destroyed by Trump? The rule where you have to have actual evidence? The one where our government is *prohibited* from spying on American citizens? The rule about due process and legal representation? The tradition that Justice be blind? Equality? The feeling that prosecutorial discretion is necessary but must never be political? The bit about how Hillary wasn't guilty because she was too stupid to know better but the FBI can take down a political rival by twisting them up until they "lie" about something that was never a crime?

What?

149 This claims that Trump is "destroying" the rule of law or somehow is a "tyrant" or "dictator" are incredibly silly. How these people can look themselves in the mirror is a wonder.
I do believe that people like Last actually convince themselves they are right and honorable. They have rationalized themselves into a corner and just keep rationalizing the next degradation.
they initially decided that demeanor and language was more important than policy and judicial appointments and thus rationalized why it was OK to actively root for a Hillary win. Doing this, they made a huge bet that Trump would lose and they could scold us and tell us they were right and remain atop the pecking order of conservatism inc.
When Trump won, they had to decide whether to eat a little crow or double-down. They rationalized that somehow Trump would either be removed from office or would betray us and enact leftist policy. This was a second bet that they would ultimately be proven right and they could scold us and tell us they were right and remain atop the pecking order of conservatism inc.
When Trump wasn't removed and has pursued the most conservative agenda of any president in modern history (while being wildly successful), they could have come slinking back, eaten a little more crow and tried to repair their credibility. But, they convinced themselves that everything they did was based on principles and thus rationalize each new step to the left that they take. But, I imagine in their own minds they believe the b.s. they are spouting. It is the only way they can live with themselves - through self delusion.

These moral and intellectual failures, whores, douches, cucks, gingers, longbow lovers are beyond the point of parody or amazement. It would be a flashing red light post of one of them did support Trump.

Bernie, Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, David Duke and his running mate Louis Farrakhan, Florida Man...

All of them would get the nod over Trump.

More seriously: he's changed them, mostly by pulling them back to their original mission after decades of scope creep, and then Obama's turbo-charged corruption of them beyond recognition. For example, he eliminated all of the climate change initiatives that almost every agency had implemented, and he eliminated that awful CPFB.

167 Nice rant, Ace.

On this one, I find it baffling:
From The Bulwark, today:

2. Policy vs. Corruption
You may like or dislike Bernie's politics. That's a matter of ideology.

What is dangerous about Trump is not his ideological predilections, but his mode of governance. It's the corruption of the system itself.

Yes. This is actually true, and it is *obviously* true. Trump is not ideologically dangerous, and his mode of governance is requires him to end-run - wherever possible - a deeply corrupt system that stands continuously athwart.

That anyone can look at the situation in Washington, correctly identify the problem (total systemic corruption) and then so fundamentally misplace the blame for that corruption onto the man that the "corruption is trying to destroy* is unthinkable.

The only answer I can come up with is that these people are so blindered by their hate or so stupid that they can draw these conclusions.

Or both, of course.

168 I gotta give Charlie credit...his may have been the greatest fall from grace of anyone associated with the NeverTrumper movement.

His was THE conservative show here in Milwaukee and was a real force in the Scott Walker/ACT 10 wars here in SE Wisconsin and then POOF.

Walked away from his show and then popped up on the ahoy boys.

I mean its actually mind blowing that its come to this where daily here in Wisconsin he was highlighting attacks on conservatives at the hands of the blue thugs and he's now basically telling conservatives its their fault.

What vanities must a guy have to have himself so thoroughly destroy his entire past life over a successful POTUS.

Its actually kind of slow clap worthy.

173 But you can't "fix" the rule of law. Once it's broken, it's gone. It's gangsterism all the way to the horizon

Bernie has already indicated that he intends to rule by decree - he doesn't particularly care what Congress thinks, and he doesn't think that Congressional opposition will limit his powers or his ability to act.

Bernie has also said that he intends to arrest business executives - so far, just executives in fossil fuel companies, but I'm sure the list will get much, much longer, once he gets into power.

But yeah, lecture us on the "rule of law", Bulwark.

328 An under-reported and under-realized aspect of the "Charlottesville Massacre" is that the guy was driving away from a mob trying to drag him from the car. You can see parts of it in the videos. There are many youtube videos of mobs chasing and dragging people from cars, and it never ends well for the driver. He gets beaten or worse. I think that's what happened here: the driver was beset upon by a mob and panicked and took off. If you watch the video, he takes off down the middle of the road, while there are literally dozens of people on the sidewalks. If he really wanted to run people over, why drive down the middle when he could have just ran over everyone on the sidewalks?

398 This really is the epitome of why people hate 'news' organizations these days. Instead of reporting events and letting people decide how to feel about them one way or another, they pick and choose in order to shape reality.

A couple decades ago, they would report stories, but put their own spin on it. We would complain that they were editorializing news stories.

Now they are picking and choosing what they even bother to relay. I guess they feel that if they do not even acknowledge that something even happened, it never really happened. The same thing happens with a variety of issues: crime most notably.

This is why people both hate them and also the rise of indulgence in 'conspiracy theories'.

In the end the Pharisees arranged for the death of JC ... and the cucks will try to arrange for Death to America, because they so love their perch in high places, funded by the commie evils we fought in previous wars.

Trump is no JC, but all patriots are under attack and those cucks/Pharisees had managed to gain power from within ... and are now being exposed as enemies of the state. Trump certainly does represent the American Patriot ... keep the faith ... American Renewal ahead ... (we hope and pray)

Trump's agenda rises and falls with his personnel.

What would the personnel in a Sanders administration look like?

I'll tell you. They'd be vicious monsters out to make people they don't like miserable. Every instance of lawbreaking on the part of Obama's administration would be out in the fore and much worse under Sanders. Every agency would outright move against conservatives and centrists of any stripe. The sledge hammer of power wielded by the federal government would be turned on Americans to the right of AOC.

The idea that anyone claiming to be conservative could welcome that scenario is laughable.

523 etymology online:

ghost (n.)
Old English gast "breath; good or bad spirit, angel, demon; person, man, human being," in Biblical use "soul, spirit, life," from Proto-West Germanic *gaistaz (source also of Old Saxon gest, Old Frisian jest, Middle Dutch gheest, Dutch geest, German Geist "spirit, ghost"). This is conjectured to be from a PIE root *gheis-, used in forming words involving the notions of excitement, amazement, or fear (source also of Sanskrit hedah "wrath;" Avestan zaesha- "horrible, frightful;" Gothic usgaisjan, Old English gæstan "to frighten").

Check out the Youtube video linked above.

Short answer: yes, in principle, but you have to go to some lengths to eliminate all other sources of rotation first. Toilets inject water at an angle, for obvious reasons, so the phenomenon is not apparent there.

But if you have a perfectly still body of water, and allow it to drain without having perturbed it in any way, then yes, the water will swirl in response to the coriolis force.

On Enoshima Beach near Kamakura in Japan are a flock of Black Japanese Kites (birds of prey) that have become accustomed to hunting...from humans, not their normal prey. If you sit on the beach and take out any food to eat, within under a minute you will have several kites hovering in a specific area direct behind and above you, in you blind spot -- and when you swing out your arm to prepare to eat the food, they will drop like a rock and swoop down and steal the food right out of your hand. It's amazing to watch. So many Japanese tourists go there (and a few foreigners) that the kites always have a fresh crop of naive picnicker to prey upon.

No. Just no.

Bloomberg hasn't been on a ballot yet.

He starts appearing on them on Super Tuesday.

641 *Probably why McConnell is just kicking back and letting it slide on by.*

Cocaine Mitch realizes that between the DIABLOS in the Senate and the House being under control of fecal shot-putters, judges are the only thing he can get done. So, he lets the DIABLOS enjoy posturing so he can have their votes when judges come up.

Or at least seven of them. Paul is not a turncoat in this instance. He's just being Paul. It could have been a President Reagan x 10 and he would have voted for it. He is somewhat consistent though semi nuts IMHO.

Unless Steyer changed his mind this morning, he remains in the race. Last night's report that he was getting out may likely have been a deliberate misinformation plant.

651 and now they have to face the collapse of Wonder-Biden, their hero, at the same time.

People keep using that word "collapse," he didn't collapse. He started out in a heap on the ground, he's been in two elections and failed in both.

The only reason anyone would use the word collapse is that they believed those ridiculous trash polls that had him soaring high. He had nowhere to collapse from, he's been losing every single election.

678 Well, you can't spell "conservative" without the "CON"

Posted by: MaDuece at February 12, 2020 04:53 PM (0dmP2)

679 You'll recall Jeffrey Hart issuing op-eds arguing that the Democratic nominee in 2004 and then in 2008 was the 'true conservative' choice. Interviewed over the phone in 2011, he averred that he was very satisfied with BO and still admired him. After his death last year his family admitted he'd been suffering from Alzheimer's.

As far as I can see, most politicians and opinion-mongers antagonistic to Trump four years ago have retreated from that stance and are navigating the matrix in which they actually live. The Bulwark crew are the die-hards, people willing to subsist on liberal patronage rather than admit they misunderstood the political society in which they lived in 2016, as well as the most obtrusive figure in it. That tells you something about what they were actually made of prior to the summer of 2015. Many of us noticed that National Review had grown increasingly pallid since about 2003. Well, look who was running it.

Posted by: Art Deco at February 12, 2020 04:55 PM (1BrBu)

680 "What the fuck does that mean."
It means "I said something like this last month and I have to re-affirm it today or people will get the idea that I don't know sh!t from apple butter". That's absolutely madcap given that Democratic politicians in cahoots with flotsam and jetsam in the security state apparatus tried to manufacture an impeachment case out of nothing after elements of the Department of Justice had spent over a year attempting to assemble a self-licking ice-cream cone of a case against the President for obstruction of justice (he was obstructing the obstruction investigation they were conducting), after these same elements had spent two years 'investigating' the Trump campaign for non-existent collusion with Russian political figures. During the course of that 'investigation', they brought a mess of indictments against Russian security officials that they knew they'd never have to try, a mess of indictments of people on process crimes, a mess of indictments against others connected to Trump on tax charges c (which the Department of Justice had passed on years earlier). But this they know: Trump is a threat to the rule of law. Lois Lerner told us so.

Posted by: Art Deco at February 12, 2020 05:02 PM (1BrBu)

681 The question seems to be raised quite often these days about "What has conservatism actually conserved?" Don't have to look much further than Conservative Inc.(TM) NeverTrumpers to see that, in spite of the erosion of civilization in general, at least they conserved their stocks and 401Ks. And that's all that *really* matters, innit?
