WHAT?! Alexander Vindman's Identical-Twin Brother Is the Deep State Official In Charge of Reviewing Bolton's Book for Declassification... You Know, the Same Book That Was Just Leaked to the Media During the Impeachment Trial

Incredible.

Meanwhile, even the New York Times' Trump-deranged Maggie Haberman can't help noticing that Bolton seems to have pecuniary motives here:

Technically yes. As I said on the earlier thread, though, he practically can't. Not yet. He has been under investigation the entire time. Hell, him firing one of the worst assholes in government lead to the Mueller farce.

Trump firing people means "obstruction" and constant, hand-tying, hamstringing investigation. Even if it doesn't, the Senate will slow-walk or flat-out deny his replacements whenever confirmation is needed - and they never recess anymore (which is a grotesque trick and Trump should forcibly recess them) so recess appointments are out.

105 51 In the past, even here at AoS, people on the right admired "The 'Stache" John Bolton. Now he seems to have flipped sides and everyone hates him. What happened? Why did Trump hire him, and why did they have a falling out? Is it because Bolton was a pro-war "neocon" and Trump upset his plans to Invade All The Things? Or..? Someone help me out here.

Posted by: zombie at January 27, 2020 01:23 PM (fK2gX)

My assessment is that Trump uses his Secretary of State pick to present a certain image. When they no longer serve the purpose he needed them for, or they start to think they're allowed to drive policy, he gets rid of them.

Bolton was specifically hired for his aggro reputation imo. In order to scare the bejeezus out of some countries.

That was the biggest fuckup of his administration, yes - but even then, it would have resulted in the same outcome we have now in terms of constant investigation and impeachment. Remember, Crossfire Hurricane was in full swing and the groundwork had been laid. We might be better off overall had he purged the ranks *entirely* on day zero, but I am not certain of that. With folks like Priebus on the team, the new guys would have been more of the same (as they often were at the beginning).

119 Democrats are going to win on getting witnesses because of Bolton -- but if they were smart, they'd want to lose. LOL! You'd think they'd want to paint Republicans as engaging in a coverup, and at the same time avoid calling any witnesses that will blow up their case. Only way to do that is to lose on calling witnesses. It's probably why they worked so hard to insult the rinos. They'll get Bolton (not worth spit) and Trump gets the anonymous whistlebugger, Eric Ciaramella, and all the other coup conspirators. Watch for D's to scramble to avoid calling witnesses now. Note to the next outsider that becomes President - do not trust anyone from DC. If they've been in this town more than ten years, or worked for the prior administration, don't trust them. Get rid of them if you can.

A new person in the spot, even if incompetent, will not have the advantage of inside the beltway connections. Don't believe anyone extolling the virtues of "knowing how to work the system".

The Bourgeoise are generally decent people who are very careful with their money. 195 51, Zombie, a lot of people liked John Bolton because he seemed to at least be an enemy of liberal Democrats during the later Bush years and to the weak kneed Gope Senators.

The conservative media did not help ordinary folks understand exactly who these people were as they were after national greatness by spreading democracy throughout the Middle East, NK, etc. John Bolton fit right into that crowd.

From my experience in DC, Pres. Truman's quote is apropos--want a friend in DC--get a dog. You have a lot of high functioning sociopaths in the EOP, bureaucracy, Congress, and even the courts that literally do not care what happens to others but are always looking out for no. 1.

These critters are on both sides of the aisle and when I have to make business trips to DC, I am always amused and appalled at the same time observing our charmless political class at work and play. The ones that get their heart broken as true believers are the ones that leave DC while the burnt crud at the bottom of the pan are the true eternal residents of the bipartisan swamp.

The glazed desire that you observe on the infected that crave power/social status/money more than any virtue used to be called Potomac Fever.

the left shot up an entire gop baseball team

smashed a guy into losing his memory with a bike lock - doing brain damage

they swarm into stores like feral rodents and steal directly from hard working store owners

they attack people walking into their homes, including a woman who tried to help

you can hear the violence in their speak, but also in the actions they condone and advocate for

look at what hollywood, obama, holder were and are still saying?

203 I watched as people who should know better talked about how Trump fired the Ukrainian ambassador...

This is another thing I don't believe Trump understands. Ambassadors, traditionally and through the present, should always be friends, family and the most loyal supporters. In fact, I can't picture a situation where an ambassador should be a State Department dickhead.

Every embassy has plenty of "experts" on the country they are in. An ambassador has always been and needs to be a direct line to the president. The foreign leader needs someone who can convey to the president their thoughts and meanings without the filter of the deep state. From the beginnings of governments, the most important foreign positions have always been marked by the closest relation to the opposing leader.

Only be having someone who knows and trusts the president to communicate through can the president trust that he is operating with the correct information.

I still can't believe our side loved this guy because he wanted to launch a bunch of pointless Middle East wars. We really were such a different ideology then. Had this guy had his way, we'd probably be $20 trillion in debt building the Middle East while our own bridges are collapsing.

Soros is an anarchist, not a mobster. Remember that insults are not substantive (they're just smears.) Reagan's connections were a bit more indirect - Chicago mob guys bought a lot of political influence in California (plus Hollywood connex) and his political career in Cali was their doing (or that was their perspective.)
Soros, unlike these American liberals, has pretty much resigned himself to a new world order full of Trump-like figures. Only the Americans are foolish enough to think that eliminating Trump ends a sea-change.

1. To obtain more power by persuading idiots of all stripes to vote (or continue to vote) for them

2. To weaken and eventually destroy Western Civilization

3. To hurt and/or demoralize their enemy (us)

Not all all the time, and not always in that order. FFS don't let the bastards get you down!!! The Left has been in a three year sobbing drum circle. They are dying inside and we are winning. Enjoy it!

So they had this phoney de-Nazification process and let a lot of assholes off the hook because they needed a functioning West German government to counter the Soviets.

In the same way, Trump might have wanted to clean house completely when he was elected - but he ended up retaining a lot of shitty Obama bureaucrats because he felt there was no nobody else. All DC bureaucrats are, by default, Deep State Dems.

People think Soros is a progressive, but he worked against them. "Open Society" is sometimes an anarchist code word, and of course commies and anarchists work together when they can.

Anyway I think Soros' methods don't have a great deal of force projection against presidents of mostly-neoliberal-controlled countries. He funds a lot of antifa stuff, but they can't *actually* get away with murder, they're just tolerated because they can be duped into attacking righties for pennies.
At the ill-fated Unite The Right Rally, the neolib dems strategy was in fact to get the ralliers to shoot the antifa, after which they would shoot the ralliers (and some antifa too, oops.)
It's dirty rats all the way down.

I'm not. Trump loves conflict. He lives for it. When it's not happening he creates it.

Trump gets his opponents all worked up about something and then builds a wall on the southern border or makes a new deal with China.

Trump doesn't get worn down from conflict, he gets stronger.

While correct, there are certainly a number of socialist agitators in the 19th century that did come from impoverished backgrounds. As for leaders however, Mao's dad was a rich farmer and Lenin came from a middle class background, so yes, socialists have pretty much always been bougies if they haven't been disgruntled rich kids.

It's also hard to argue that given the way Lenin lived he was substantially bourgeois, Mao however lived like an emperor. (Lenin was an outlier, it seems.) Given that socialists are hyper-focused on capitalism, it seems possible that a good deal of it is projection, certainly likely given the level of psychological and emotional maturity of the average socialist.

437 While correct, there are certainly a number of socialist agitators in the 19th century that did come from impoverished backgrounds.

Well, this is one reason why I warn against anyone talking glibly of revolutions and such. These were always the work of foreign powers, and among some thinkers today there's a term for it, "The Iron Law of Rebellious Tools."

This is also why it's logical for the Dems to think there is Russian (or some foreign) interference in the whole Trump thing, because it seems too powerful for it just to be a bunch of bumpkins.
