Conservation does that. Don't litter. Reuse what you can. Don't dump waste into rivers. Use the most reasonable form of energy for your area. Care for your environment, yes, including doing as controlled as you can burns and culling wild life as needed.
All this climate change hysteria infuriates me because basic, boring conservation gets pushed aside.

My parents did a big trip around Europe about 20 years ago. To this day, the thing that Mommy found most amazing was taking the train through Germany and learning about German forest management. She found it fascinating and sensible and every time California burns she asks why we don't do that out there and I have to try to explain that the environmentalists won't let anyone do that and she looks at me like I'm crazy.

Conservation does that. Don't litter. Reuse what you can. Don't dump waste into rivers. Use the most reasonable form of energy for your area. Care for your environment, yes, including doing as controlled as you can burns and culling wild life as needed.
All this climate change hysteria infuriates me because basic, boring conservation gets pushed aside.
If you want to help with CO2 emissions, I mean truly help, then plant trees. But that's boring and doesn't allow micromanaging control.

I'm thinking about 12 noon on Friday the 24th, as we fly back to Dallas on the 25th. Honestly, Rick was never one for a lot of fuss or formality, nor was he very religious. So, here's my thoughts on what I'm planning to do....
A quiet service in our backyard. Although they are predicting 3 to 5 inches of snow, I'm hoping it's like Texas, where they can't predict the weather hours in advance, never mind a week in advance. We will share some memories of Rick, have some food, and since he enjoyed a good beer, have a toast with either a Philly classic, Yuengling beer, or a good hot cup of Black Rifle coffee. (We also found a stockpile of Black Rifle coffee, so I think that this toast would incorporate 2 of his favorite beverages!)
Afterwards, we will spread his ashes.
Please let me know how many people you think would come, as we are having his house cleaned out with a company on Tuesday or Wednesday, but I could rent a few chairs, or consider having lunch at a local restaurant (Richie's) after the memorial.

If you look at the 2002 Northern Territory bushfires, you get 94 million acres burnt. No global warming hysteria back then, though.
Going back further, you can see that the 1969 bushfires destroyed 99 million acres.
You want to see the granddaddy of all bushfires? Go to 1974-1975. You'll see that 290 million (!!) acres burned.

When islands capsize like that, they create huge waves, called Spumonies, that wash away fires and beach front property that was built in un-authorized areas. So it's a mixed blessing. Sometimes people who can't hold their breath for a long time underwater drown when that happens.
