"Nancy Pelosi Unconditionally Surrenders on Impeachment"

Headline from streiff.

She just announced (at noon) that she'll hold a vote to appoint impeachment managers next week.

And then we'll have to pay attention to Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitt Romney, as the Three Cu**ateers curry favor with the liberal media talking up their willingness, nay, eagerness to betray their conservative voters.

But we'll only have to pay attention to their sage musing for a couple of weeks, then we can go back to thinking of them as bedbugs in need of fumigation.

She dodders around on legs that look extremely unsteady. I notice the other day that when she has to climb the step up to her podium to address the press, she turns sideways. I don't know if that's because she can't manage one step taken frontally, or if her skirt is so tight she can't move her leg up that high.

Possibly both.

Obstructing Congress. No such statute. There is CONTEMPT of Congress, but that is not the charge.

So, how do you find guilt or innocence of an undefined Crime?

Same with Abuse of Power. There is no statute. There is no definition. It boils down to you did something legal, and we didn't like the reason you did it.

Thought crime, impossible to prove either guilt, or innocence.

And in fact, Pelosi herself, by holding these charges, can be accused of both Abuse of Power, AND Obstructing Congress (in this case, the Senate).

And then - Trump took out Suleimani, the architect of all of Iran's anti-US activities, and then the Mullah's blinked and did a fake attack rather than a real one, because they were frightened of true retaliation.

That tells me everything I need to know now about the nature of those calling the shots now in Iran. They're terrified, and they're floundering, and without Suleimani they no longer have the nerve to carry out the attacks that he was willing to do.

Iran gave up this last week. They're still pretending they haven't, but that's like pretending they didn't shoot down the airliner. Even their own people know they're lying now, no matter what they say. They've shown weakness, and they can't recover from that.

She is fading in fund raising and at the polls, and probably sucks at retail politics necessary in Iowa, so why not roll the dice. She probably is not going to be the VP as she has baggage and that slot is probably reserved for a minority candidate.

MN Klobachar is probably playing the VP game but might do so to boost her chances in Iowa as protector of the faith and Bernie is Bernie--he is pretty much angry all the time about everything and is an old story. Kamala might also be competing for the VP slot as the POC so the Dems might very well overreact at the trial to the pubbies benefit.

And that's why the death of Suleimani is so important. He's been the one man behind ALL of that for the last 20 years. He's been the one sending car bombs to Afghanistan, missiles to Beirut, fighters to Syria to prop up assad, money and weapons to Yemen to cause trouble down there. ALL of that was Suleimani's domain.

The 60+ year old pencil pusher who supposedly has replaced him doesn't have the skills or contacts to do any of that. And Iran is out of money, too. All of these terrorist subcontractors have just lost their leader, and they've lost their bankroll.

220 Senate should just immediately dismiss ... but it mostly likely won't. Couple of reasons for that.

1) GOP Senators mostly live full-time in DC, so most won't want to be so aggressively dismissive of the impeachment hopes and dreams of nearly everyone they interact with regularly.

2) For how ever long the impeachment trial lasts, the Senate is the most important game in town ... meaning attention must be paid to Senators ... even the embarrassingly stupid ones.

War Powers Act (I know, UnConstitutional, but so is this impeachment IMO) says that IF a Concurrent resolution is passed forbidding the President from attacking a country, he can't unless he gets prior Congressional approval.

Which, he can't get quickly. So, if the resolution is passed, and Iran attacks us FROM Iran, according to the act, the President can't respond.

If he does? That will then be the reason to impeach.

And because it is now a Power struggle between the entire Congress, and the Executive Branch, many Senators would use that as an excuse to 'oh so sadly' vote to impeach (IMO).

248 183, I doubt it-if that was so on voting to convict, she would inform Turtle and he would arrange for her to see a niece in the hospital or something. That is one of the ways that majority leaders get power.

Party switchers rarely win their seats again (see Arlen Spector for example) unless they dare to do a Phil Gram. He resigned his seat in the House, then ran for it in a special election as a Republican back in day of massive Dem majorities. He won. I can't remember whether Strom did something similar or not when he switched.

Trump also recognized that Iran had *way* overextended itself, and no longer had any allies. KSA and Israel are both overjoyed to see the US take the lead against Iran, especially after Iran attacked KSA's oil facilities. And Russia wants to dominate Syria by itself, they're sick of Iranians trying to take over for their own purposes. China likes to cause trouble when they can, but they're certainly not going to stick their necks out for a bunch of Muzzies.

So Iran was looking at having a confrontation all by itself, and they couldn't do it.

266 246, They did not pass a concurrent resolution in the House the other day. Under the rules including the WPA, it counts as a sense of the House sort of resolution like declaring Daisy Day for flowers.

If the hit was major enough by Iran, enough of the the country would rally round the flag and the Dems would run out of time to run the GHWB playbook in time. It is especially true as the U.S. unlike 9/11 or 1991 is a lot more resistant to a recession from an oil shock.

325 Miss Cleo did die at 53. She had a long career as a scammer leaving a long trail of debts behind her. The irony? At one point she put together a stage show using the money of investors. The show flopped and she told everyone she owed money to that she had bone cancer and due to medical bills couldn't pay them immediately which was a lie. Little did she forecast that she would die eventually of colon cancer. Karma is a bitch.

If not replaced outright, I'd love nothing more than to see these three retired as the inconsequential and useless shells that they are.

371 The Clintons are very good at openly committing crimes, but insulating themselves from culpability.

In November 2017, then Attorney General Jeff Sessions tapped Huber to investigate the Clinton Foundation as well as Hillary Clinton's actions as secretary of state toward Uranium One, an energy firm linked to Clinton Foundation donors. Huber was also tasked with investigation matters related to the Russia probe, but that part of his investigation was ceded to the Justice Department's office of the inspector general.

Huber reviewed documents related to the investigations and coordinated with federal investigators in Little Rock, Arkansas, who were probing the Clinton Foundation, according to WaPo, which cited current and former law enforcement officials. (RELATED: What Is John Huber Up To?)

WaPo's sources said Huber's review turned up few leads worth pursuing. The Justice Department has not formally closed the investigation, according to WaPo, but it appears essentially to be over.

411 War Powers Act (I know, UnConstitutional, but so is this impeachment IMO) says that IF a Concurrent resolution is passed forbidding the President from attacking a country, he can't unless he gets prior Congressional approval.

It depends. On the Brexit fracas in GB, it was the "Congress" that was defying the will of the people and that of the executive, and eventually that disconnect broke the the opposition.

There are also plenty of clubs for Congress to pull back on for the president for a inside deal without risking the lives of troops as your start point.

In the Mexican War era, Lincoln and the other midwestern Whigs were against the war and thought we had bullied Mexico into it, with fairly good reason. They still made a point of voting for all resolutions to support the armies in the field and prosecuting the war regardless.

I have not yet made up my mind and will not until I hear from BOTH sides and I assure the President that I will be as fair to him as I will be for the Democrats.

This is serious business--an undertaking of the highest magnitude and surely the most important job any senator will ever be called upon to do--short of voting for War.

470 McConnell has said repeatedly that he wants the Clinton rules for the impeachment trial. The Clinton Rules include a clause that allows the Senate to dismiss the charges. Don't know if the dismissal clause requires a simple majority or a super-majority vote.

484 I thin Schiff is to blame for this entire farce, and I wonder what Nancy is going to do to him. If I were him, I wouldn't get into any light aircraft.

This entire thing has been insane from a power standpoint, and power is all that Nancy cares about. Her power and status - and her party's power and status - have been materially diminished by this. The only thing I can come up with is that Schiff either orchestrated the fake whistleblower thing (I doubt that) or he was deeply involved it from the start (much more likely) and he promised Nancy that he could deliver the goods. He couldn't. It was a total hoax and a lie and the president ended it early.

Whenever I try to figure out why the hell she would let this thing get as far as it did, all I can come up with is that someone promised it would work and that the setup was airtight. That someone lied (or was wrong), and I suspect that someone was Schiff.

503 Just a coincidence that they launch missiles thinking that the U.S. would lob in some cruise missiles in response and then bingo suddenly it's our fault and we hit the plane?

What's curious is that 3/4 or more of the passenger consist was Iranian diaspora going home from visiting family. And the flight crew was top-to-bottom more experienced than you'd get on most big-name US airlines.

Whatever you can say about the 737 and Boeing's MAX missteps, the CFM56 engine has a pretty damn spectacular safety record, the last couple that've had problems on 737s shed blades but at Southworst it took a latch off the bottom of the cowling, the shed cowling punched a hole in the fuselage, and FWOOP! out went one person. The plane landed intact.

To my knowledge no 737 has ever fallen out of the sky in pieces due to an engine failure.

514 411 War Powers Act (I know, UnConstitutional, but so is this impeachment IMO) says that IF a Concurrent resolution is passed forbidding the President from attacking a country, he can't unless he gets prior Congressional approval.

I think this was central to the plan. Schiff reads his fake transcript, it has time to steep and becomes the record. If the real transcript ever came out, he could correct himself but by that point the damage is done and it doesn't matter - the narrative is Schiff's version.

Trump did the unthinkable and released the real transcript. That turfed it all, right then and there. I think the problem is that the rollout was timed and planned and in motion and they couldn't stop it. They announced the impeachment inquiry, IIRC, a couple of hours after the transcript was released. They couldn't abort.

I suspect Schiff convinced everyone that the fake transcript he read on the house floor was going to carry the day for them - it is astounding that they still went with the plan, even though Trump destroyed it almost immediately by releasing the real transcript.

She could have just pulled the impeachment vote saying that it was clear that the evil GOP Senate would block justice, or downgraded it to censure. The Media would have done its best to cover.

I thought about that; but it starts after the AA missile has already been fired, so he may have heard the launch and started filming.

540 What happens when we are attacked by an Iranian Proxy?

Maybe Hezbollah drives another explosive filled truck into the US Beirut Embassy (AGAIN!!!), but issues public claims that it was some obscure Sunni terrorist group?

Maybe hittting another US Embassy in a Gulf State, or a few US bases in Iraq and Syria too? Simultaneously.

Remember how they used to say that AlQaeda was known for its simultaneous attacks, it was the AlQaeda "Signature?"

That would kill lots of Americans, and give the shitstains in Congress and the media enough BS to say "it might not be Iran"? You cannot strike back. Or. You hit Iran without permission, IM PEACH MINT!

Let those families who lost service members start literally taking out members of congress.

Even by this dumb act, only Trumps actions against Iran the nation are blocked. Proxies are fair game as far as that goes.

Baghdad has a lot of different targets, and one of the weird things about some of our stealth aircraft is they get less 'stealthy' when they open the bomb bay doors.

Add in that civilian IFF squawks mode 3, unencrypted and ID gets assigned by the airport as you are leaving normally.

Military squawks encrypted on mode 4 or 5.

A flip of a switch by an untrained operator, and suddenly mode 3 becomes an unknown, and thus a potential enemy.

Now add in multiple media reports that we had launched aircraft.

Here's the final thing, that the Clinton Impeachment should teach everyone. The President is approved of by about half the country in the worst case, two thirds or more when doing foriegn affairs.

Congress is hated by about 90 percent of the country, even if they like their own personal guy theres 500 other bastards to hate.

Fist to fist fighting, President versus Congress is a fools game for Congress - they are almost bound to lose.

That puts me in mind of Rogey Batoon, front man for The Louisianna Perches, a stellar set of squamose songsters. Rogey carried a satchel filled with water, with H2O monogrammed on the outside.

Turns out the satchel was where he accomodated his good friend, an amoeba named Halpha 2 Omeba. The "2" stood for Tuesday, his birthday being the second day of the week.

555 Before that happens, The Squad, ie, the junior varsity cu**ateers, will make a big splash by tweeting out their opposition by voting against the appointment of managers, then holding a smirking group b!+ch session masquerading as a press conference trashing Trump and Pelosi in the alternative, fundraising off their brave stand, and finally making a big show of giving their vote cards to KD Hill as souvenirs. Watch for Pramila Jayapal to join them and watch for Jackie Speier to try by sneaking in under Rashida's caftan.
