Kim Foxx, Jussie Smollett's Defense Attorney -- I'm Sorry, My Mistake, Jussie Smollett's "Prosecutor" --Hires Private Lawyer as State Attorney Investigation Into Her Behavior Heats Up

Isn't she lovely.

With election season in high gear, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx and her office have retained some high-powered legal assistance in the ongoing probe of Foxx's controversial handling of the Jussie Smollett case.

Ruben Castillo, the former chief judge of the Northern District of Illinois and now a partner at the politically connected law firm Akerman, has been helping the state’s attorney's office for the past three months to vet voluminous materials requested by special prosecutor Dan Webb.

I don't know this for a fact, but I'm going to say that "vet" the material requested in the probe actually means "plot and scheme to claim that relevant material is not relevant in order to claim as little material as possible conforms to the special prosecutor's demands."

You don't need a top lawyer to merely comply fully with subpeona requests.

...

In addition, Foxx has brought in well-known Washington, D.C., attorney Michael Bromwich to represent her personally in the Smollett matter, which has become a flashpoint in the Democratic primary.

And... taxypayers are paying for this.

A spokeswoman for Foxx also would not disclose how much Castillo's firm was being paid but said it was not unusual for the office to retain outside legal counsel, particularly in complex civil cases.

A judge has ordered Google to turn over a full year's worth of Jussie Smollett's emails, voicemails, and any other data.

A Cook County judge has ordered Google to turn over Jussie Smollett's emails, photos, location data and private messages for an entire year as part of the special prosecutor’s investigation into the purported attack on the actor.

Two sweeping search warrants, obtained by the Chicago Tribune, provide the first public glimpse at the direction of the probe by special prosecutor Dan Webb more than four months into the investigation

Meanwhile, Kim Foxx fundraised with an alderman now indicted for corruption.

And her primary opponent is making an issue of it.

Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx's handling of the Jussie Smollett fiasco is already a national joke and embarrassment.

And now, it’s getting even worse for Foxx with Bill Conway, her challenger in the March 17 Democratic primary election, publicly pinning notorious and indicted Chicago Ald. Edward Burke, 14th, right on her.

From Smollett to Burke. Uh-oh, Kim.

And this isn't just a matter of being in the same room as a fellow politician.

Oh dear no. Kim Foxx earned Burke's support.

Burke reportedly held a fancy fundraiser for Foxx at his home, and later, a private client of Burke's property tax reduction business received a $2 million property tax break through a settlement with Foxx's office.

And the local governments had to eat it. Who ultimately paid the bill, dear Cook County property taxpayers? Do you really have to ask?

This is your occasional reminder that Kim Foxx -- along with dozens of other leftwingers letting antisemitic arsonists back on the streets -- was bankrolled by George Soros, who realized it would be much cheaper to get dozens of leftwing Marxist pro-crime "prosecutors" elected than to rig elections to get the actual laws changed.

This is such an important point. I spend my time focused on state and federal elections, but don't do nearly the diligence I should regarding these hyperlocal ones.

Slightly off-topic, NPR et al spent a lot of time exposing the doings of ALEC, and their effect on state elections. While they were spinning that as a bad thing, the Right fell asleep and backed off supporting those efforts. The Left, on the other hand, seeing how effective they were, spent their time quietly building those same operations for their side, with silent assent by the media.

It's almost like the Right innovates, but the Left perfects and weaponizes. Lawcritters like Kim Foxx are the result of their efforts.

Posted by: Don Q at January 09, 2020 01:20 PM (NgKpN)

Yeah, that all gets handwaved away and has been for decades.

Decent(ish) prosecutorial discretion: if you get a minor traffic citation, most jurisdictions will let you agree to something that has similar fines so that the city/county gets paid but you don't get any points for your license. Is that mildly corrupt? Eh, sorta kinda but it works to keep more people driving with insurance and the money is still coming in so why not.

Hell, decentish prosecutorial discretion is turning a blindish eye to the 20 year olds drinking at college so long as no one is driving or engaging in other crimes.

But I am not going to prosecute shoplifting under $1,000 any longer? Yeah, yeah, that's not the same thing.

Say what you will about Soros, he can see an opportunity.

When he bought all those Secretary of State races back after the 2000 race, everyone was kinda wondering, "huh?" Even though we had the Bush v Gore fiasco, it wasn't seen as terribly relevant going forward. Then we start getting motor voter in earnest and a whole lot of illegals being funded across the border just in time for 2020---in addition to the "tough on law abiding citizens" new DAs---it's starting to coalesce into a fairly discernable scheme.

"Hold in Mexico" is starting to look like the smartest thing Trump ever did. And pardoning current felons, though it has made huge inroads in the black community, is looking to be not so smart.

Posted by: Captain Hate at January 09, 2020 01:29 PM (y7DUB)

Actually, yes. I know two people who got themselves elected to the same local school board and made massive changes in curriculum and spending. Real world changes for the better.

Annnnd then six years later both were off the board. One moved away and the other one got *spits* cancer *spits*

But for a few shining years, people got elected to fix things and then fixed them.

Now, when I lived in a different area, there was a school board election that ended up with not one, not two, but three couples getting divorced because all the ever so polite wanna be upper middle class women threw the we don't discuss who is screwing whom right out the window in order to get their preferred candidate to win. It was wildly entertaining to watch from the sidelines, utter tragedy for the families involved.

193 173 breaking the rules doesn't accelerate the collapse, it only does if you think of the political/social system as simply a machine rather than an agreement and a custom among people. The real collapse of a society is always the degradation of its political class; we know this because there was a time in which it had hardly any 'political system' at all and managed to turn itself into a civilization. If it had people of that quality again, they could simply rewrite the rules to work again. What the left is doing is mendacious for sure, but it is largely superfluous. If you have no people of quality, or cannot get the people of quality to take responsibility and receive power, you need no left to collapse, you need only Time, The Destroyer of Worlds.

==========

28th amendment:

Any state or locality that declares bankruptcy is immediately delegated to territory status.

All elected officials who held office within the state over the previous 20 years are barred from ever holding elective office in the United States for the rest of their lives.

All appointed officials in the state or locality above janitor over the last 20 years are barred from ever holding a state or local job for the rest of their lives.

The president shall appoint a military governor who will manage the state's finances until the equivalent of 25% of the debt is paid off in gold to the taxpayers of that state.

If the new territory does not pay off the 25% and pass a new constitution that bars unbalanced budgets within 10 years, it shall be broken up into several smaller states, as dictated by 60% of Congress and the president's signature.

But they still test and scan you for several years after that.

After testicular cancer, their plan (which is ongoing) was for me to get blood tests and CT scans for five years. More frequent at first (like every three months), then backing off to six months, then every year.

That's the real "cancer free" test.

The SEC and Clemson are where it's at in NCAA Football nowadays. A coach would be crazy to not take a shot at glory at one of those places in 2020.

When a few of these things happen I go with the principle that it's best not to ascribe to malevolence what is best explained by incompetence. After four or five such "coincidences," however, you get back to malevolence.

As I understand it - because the Fed is NOT a US Gov entity, but rather a consortium of banks. Pretty much, Uncle Sam's loan-sharks under the nominal leadership of an gov appointed chairman.

Ponder that - when push comes to shove, US monetary policy might ultimately be dictated not by elected officials, but rather bankers with international interests as well as domestic.

You're forgetting the ego factor. Top-flight NCAA coaches, and those that want to be top-flight ones, have an ego as big as any politician's. They believe they can out-recruit and out-coach anyone. Most can't. Must be a really hard fall when they get fired for losing to 'Bama and LSU or Clemson 5 years straight.

Foxx on the other hand is a person of the Machine. She is corrupt as the day is long.

The scariest thing here is the amount of data Google might have on you. Show me the man and I'll show you the crime is much easier with data like that.
