Fenelon’s organist has boot after having broken ankle. Doing better but needs continued healing so she can give glory to God through her music. Witch Doctor, prayers for continued healing from depression and suicidal ideation. Kris’ Husband fell and hit tub. Prayers for recovery, healing and skill for doctors. Jean, friend of Lady L, has mantle cell lymphoma, which has become active and is difficult to treat. Prayers for healing and wisdom and skill for doctors. Allison, mid 30’s, new mom, had stroke, needs healing. Baby Elijah, son of notsothoreau’s co-worker, is on oxygen support in ICU. If breathing doesn’t get better may have to put oxygen tube in his lungs, other son Tylor, was running night fevers and throwing up and may need to be on oxygen as well. Both has asthma. Prayers for healing. Bygone, daughter is having seizures. Has brain tumor, will have surgery mid-January. Prayers for skill for surgeons for all or most of tumor be removed. That there be no complications and divine healing. Horus Hearsay, needs healing and pain removal for 2 herniated discs. Michelle’s son Ian recovering, after a bad accident. Need for stents to hold. Still having nightmares. Doing much better but needs more healing and ability to sleep peacefully. Needs recovery from PTSD for being in ICU so long. Also, mom needs healing for high blood pressure and issues with peripheral pain. Baldy’s mom in hospital with bleeding. May have to have colon removed. Barbara, Fenelon’s congregant, needs healing from recurrent cancer
Job Request and Financial Issues: Ralph has new baby daughter but was downsized from job. Is getting a BA in business but needs job so he can support his girl or a financial blessing for school. Hrothgar, sister-in-law is in serious debt, but H. cannot bail her out, but worries about her health and living conditons. He needs wisdom and strength as he deals with these matters ethically and practically.
Military Issues: Prayer for safety of troops in Middle East. Jane Doh’s husband’s office manager and friend, Theresa, single mom. Her son was deployed to Middle East and she is frantic.
Updates and new requests: 11/23 - TP asks for prayers for his neighbor (Karen) who suffered a major stroke while in treatment for lung cancer. 11/23 - MM requests prayers for his mother, who was just diagnosed with her fourth bout of cancer and faces surgery the week before Christmas. 11/25 -ERF asks for prayers for his nephew, who has had a difficult life, to learn that there are family members who care and want to help him if he lets them. This morning, he lost his father in a house fire and his two dogs. About 9 years ago while he was in high school, he lost his mother (my wife’s sister) to a lengthy battle with MS. They had lost their home due to medical bills and he has been a lost soul during high school and afterwards. 11/27 NKG asks prayers for a friend, who seems to have a relationship with God, but needs confidence and success. His job is not very secure. 11/28 - BHG is asking for prayers for two co-workers who are contractors at risk of losing their jobs at the end of their contracts. Prayers for health and steady income and security for them. 11/30 - JR asks for prayers for someone he knows who has used up his retirement savings fighting cancer, and asks for continued health for him, and also God’s strength as he starts over. 12/3 Prayers for AverageGuy and family after death of 20 year old son by suicide 12/3-Tmitss’ brother has dementia and pneumonia 12/8 Iron Mike Golf-prayers for comfort and strength for family as father has died 12/8-MyLifeisInsanity- Caring for mom with dementia, Husband had non cancerous tumor in brain and having seizures . Prayers for healing from radiation, graceful acceptance of medical situation, clear path through financial questions and difficulties after losing job as a semi driver of 25 years. Boss has been very nice and husband has another lesser paying job, but has to make a decision about retiring, looking into disability or staying with company at another position. Prayers for strength for MLIS too. 12/8 Chavez the hugo- Wife blew out knee. Continued healing 12/8 Cheribebe-Has cancer, is also caring for elderly mother just diagnosed with cancer and dad who is also ill. Needs spiritual uplift and healing 12/8 Slapweasel-Has cancer and is caring for elderly parents 12/8 MAB asked for prayers former co-worker who is a recovering addict. He was just laid off. Need recovery and new job. 12/8 Soc_rat_eez-Colonoscapy continued recovery from surgery 12/8 McKinley B, 5 month old baby diagnosed with brain cancer, needs healing 12/18 Prayers for family for comfort and strength for rhenninginTX, uncle died, prayers for comfort and strength for family. 1/1 Lizzie’s son has appointment with cardiologist this week. Blood oxygen stats being down, so he may need major heart surgery. Prayers for skill and wisdom for doctors and complete healing. Pooky and Pooky’s girl have had a major setback in the process to become adoptive parents. Pooky’s former therapist refused to sign the recommendation form, and now their social worker wants them to withdraw from the program. They ask for prayers as they try to figure out how to move forward. ibguy requests prayers for healing for Jenna, the daughter of a friend and colleague, a wonderful young mother with a very serious case of MS. ibguy also requests prayers for healing and a return to childhood for Elena, the grand-niece of a co-worker. Elena is a 2 ½ year old girl with serious cancer/tumor, who has been in a hospital most of her life.

My sister-in-laws bf's dad died this weekend. He was sickly, but not at death's door. He fell in the shower.
I do not have all of the details but very sad. He wasn't that old.

In fact, I'm pretty convinced they'd seen those and chose the best possible angle to get their talking points. How could you not have the remotest curiosity to check even if the first video you saw was the incriminating one? I expect a lack of curiosity from politicians, but not "journalists". A. It's a good start - should make the other people he is suing consider a settlement, too.
B. As James O'Keefe noted, we can now refer to CNN as "discredited CNN news" (based on their rules in labeling him)
I like that some people are now asking twitter and facebook why they are not kicking all of their writers off their platform for now admitted fake news. Make this stain stick. . .

MGM signed Orbison to a five-picture contract. When Guitar bombed, MGM cut him loose.
But the studio is to blame. The script is cliché, the performances bad (poor Orbison is stiff as a corpse, with no sense of how to deliver a line) and the soundtrack has perhaps two good songs - the title tune and a lovely ballad, "Rollin' On."

I imagine it's a loss-leader, like MSNBC. If they were standalone they would perish, but as a boutique news channels funded by yuge corporations, they can be run as partisan DNC propagandists. Regardless of that, though, they have to be dealing with declining advertising rates based on their abysmal ratings? At some point someone will have to take action, right?

This is an easily solvable problem, actually. Oil is fungible and global but we are self-sufficient. I don't like it because it would hurt the oil companies a lot, but forbid any exports that result in inadequate domestic supply. With no other market, it will remain low. If it doesn't, ban exports overall.

Norm Mcdonald had a good rant about pictures back in the day. If you were just a regular guy and not famous, you usually had one pic for your family. It was basically the complete opposite of today. These guys did not like having their pictures taken.

I have long wondered how they make any money. I doubt advertising can cover it.

If you show pics of famous Civil War generals, but the pics are from say 20 years earlier, it gets really difficult. Many historical figures are known because the picture itself if well known. Throw them another one from a year they were not famous, and it gets very tough.

I have long wondered how they make any money. I doubt advertising can cover it.

I am with you. The idea that if some abuse something we all should be punished is lefty and authoritarian. They used opium, laudanum etc in the old West and somehow they survived. Hell, we used Heroin and morphine in the Civil War and no one got carded. They were too busy getting their legs sawed off.
People have been experimenting with tobacco for some time. There are supposed to be many pharmaceutical uses for the plant. It is also a good pesticide and works on bee stings. One of the last Virginia statewide Repubs was in big with a company that was doing all types of pharmaceutical research with tobacco. I still say he got screwed on that one but I did not follow it closely. He was an R so it is likely he got screwed.

Crazy like a fox, maybe.
There were three obvious responses to Iran's attack on our embassy (and don't kid yourself - it was Iran).
1) Do nothing. Not a Trump option.
2) Crank up sanctions, bigly.
3) Hit back at Tehran.
Trump took a different way out - he killed their mastermind. A totally unforeseeable response and I suspect it caught them flat-footed. Just like his release of the Zelezny transcript did.
It left Iran in a bind. It was an attack and an important one, but it didn't hit them directly, didn't occur in their borders, didn't carry any economic consequence (though it did carry significant military consequence).
What to do? What can you do without provoking or escalating?
It was a smart move, I think.

The Big Tell is the airport scam. The reason you only see CNN is that CNN *Pays* the airports to allow them to broadcast there, and CNN provides all the equipment (screens, etc) at their own expense. That's why no other networks are ever shown there, because a) CNN itself owns the screens, and b) no other network is crazy enough to try to pay people to watch them.
CNN loses a huge amount of money each year on that bit of idiocy alone.

The Big Tell is the airport scam. The reason you only see CNN is that CNN *Pays* the airports to allow them to broadcast there, and CNN provides all the equipment (screens, etc) at their own expense. That's why no other networks are ever shown there, because a) CNN itself owns the screens, and b) no other network is crazy enough to try to pay people to watch them.

Nope, this is not about us. They know they cannot really win a shooting war with the US.
This is about their own internal dissent. They have killed thousands of their own over the last few months. They are facing large scale internal problems. They created this incident to try to create an outside threat, so they could hold power.
Trump did not bite, and is going to INCREASE the sanctions which are leading to many of their internal problems (Iran cannot feed itself).

Have you seen the Powerwall? The Tesla home battery? It needs to be improved for areas with horrible climate, but so far, it's pretty sweet. Looks dangerous, but then, all energy sources could be considered that.
I'm looking at a lithium battery versus those traditional fuel-based generators for power outages. Many have been used on a smaller scale (Jackery, portable power station for campers). Some of the larger ones (that construction sites use) can power refrigerators, etc. Short windows though, depending on the size.
I've also read how they are refurbing the batteries now.

But the braking is more intuitive to me.
No maintenance costs - no oil to change, etc.
If you have cheap hydro-electric, for example, it is very cheap until you are charged for fixing the roads and bridges. Because not paying for gas - ever, is a strange feeling, but you save so much.

The Diesel engine driving the wheels directly is definitely more efficient than engine -> generator -> battery -> electric motor. That is 2 additional conversions, which each probably lose 20% of the energy.

Yeah electric car companies lie about range and recharge time just like gas car companies lie about gas mileage.
I guess Tesla makes sense if you like the car and are going to drive it to/ from work and plug it in overnight.
If they made a really low end commuter, maybe. The problem is that the front end cost and battery replacement makes the car never actually ever cheaper than gas. I ran the numbers years back: they charge so much for these things that it plus the cost of electricity adds up to be so expensive that it takes more than a decade to finally be cheaper than gas powered cars.
And by then you have to buy another 5-10k battery pack (plus disposal costs, installation, etc). So you never actually save money.

Yeah, GM was especially egregious (doesn't the government STILL own part of them??) but they've all done it. Its just Telsa is really excessive about it. The entire operation was built on government money, they only exist and continue because they suck on that government teat. Without it, they'd collapse like every other electric car company. Most of the models that came out in the Obama administration are not being made any longer because they money ran out.

Physics as we understand it, has all sorts of practical limits that engineering has discovered. For example, hydrogen fuel cells, which have been the holy grail of non-pollution haven't been massively adopted. One, is that to produce large amounts of hydrogen, you more or less have to spend a lot of energy to do so, and second, hydrogen is a rather nasty substance to contain due to its gas properties at normal temperatures.
If you take the total requirement to convert to a hydrogen economy for moving vehicles, then it is apparent that it won't really help the environment much if at all.
Converting to a battery economy using lithium is somewhat similar. You still need the energy to produce the batteries etc. and then the energy on a recurring basis to recharge the darn things.
Ultimately, reliable power generation at an affordable price to society depends on either nuclear or fossil fuel--nat gas, petroleum, possibly coal as the fundamental support for our civilization.
Solar, wind, geothermal, hydro electric power generation is all niche applications and apart from geothermal require some sort of storage mechanism. Hydro is fairly easy, solar, wind, not so much.
Geothermal is most valuable in the term of reducing electrical needs of heating and a/c where the techniques are well understood and can be applied at a relatively small premium.
Solar is most useful in passive designs of new structures. Wind is very useful for killing birds (especially raptors) or pumping water from wells into storage facilities. For electrical applications, both of these are best employed in niche applications combined with on-site storage for individual anti-fragility purposes.
Hydroelectric can work and is well understood, however, eventually you do have to deal with the silt problem and whether or not the dam is used for flood control/drinking water purposes as well. What is well tailored for one application is problematic for others.
