Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Poll: Americans Very Optimistic for 2020, Citing the Economy, and Often Crediting TrumpOne bit of data is less optimistic: only 54% expect things to get better for the country. But that makes sense to me, actually. You'd have to be blind not to notice the country is disintegrating. But that's not really something most voters will say is Trump's fault; I think most people realize the left has gone insane and intends to destroy the country if they're not permitted to rule it. And meanwhile: Trump has previously come in second in Gallup's poll of most admired men in America. In the current poll, he ties Obama. Barack Obama and Donald Trump are tied this year as the most admired man. It is Obama's 12th time in the top spot versus the first for Trump. Michelle Obama is the most admired woman for the second year in a row. Each year since 1948, Gallup has asked Americans to name, in an open-ended fashion, which man and woman living anywhere in the world they admire most. This year's results are based on a Dec. 2-15 poll. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

others to follow. Or at least he has started to. Like with Reagan when he started saying that the welfare system was broken and that the commies would not win -- at the time no one would say that, but once he did everyone got on board, even the dems. It took a while since they had to first spend 8 years demagoging him. He invented something new that has never been seen before. You'd have to be blind not to notice the country is disintegrating. But that's not really something most voters will say is Trump's fault; I think most people realize the left has gone insane and intends to destroy the country if they're not permitted to rule it.
You're a hell of a lot more optimistic than I am, Ace. I think a lot of people are suckered into the Dems' whining about "division" and "civility" and "international respect" and do blame it on Trump and his mean tweets. Now, yes, I do live in Massachusetts and not in America, so my viewpoint may be skewed. But I am not at all sanguine about people placing the blame where it belongs. Since Trump was elected more than 40% of the Republican Congressional officeholders have left, one way or the other. The Party is changing in a pretty profound way even if it isn't always obvious and the swamp is being drained. And Trump will finally be going on offense in 2020 against the coup plotters as well as running for reelection. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of 2020 and worry about 2024 somewhere down the road.
