Garbage In, Garbage ONT

Still off schedule from Christmas, so this is going to be a throw-everything-in-the-hopper-and-see-what-comes-out kinda ONT. Had a weird day at work, the cleaning lady at my office asked me if I wanted to smoke a joint with her. I had to decline, I don't like dealing with high maintenance women.

Holiday Leftovers

These are all things I didn't get to post before Christmas. Like gift ideas:

Clams.jpg

ketchup.jpg

And holiday mix-ups:

And a Fido Friday clip:

Foreign traditions that sound pretty cool:

Welsh.jpg

And Christmas cards from West Virginia:

West Virginia.jpg

And I think that's about it for Christmas stuff until next year.

Cartoon Shorts

Anyone remember these from when you were a kid?

These were staples of weekday afternoon TV viewing in the 70s. WBFF, UHF chanel 45, whould show the Captain Chesapeake (Ahoy crew members!) program for after school viewing. The program was the usual mix of 60s and 70s sitcoms (I Dream Of Jeanie, Gilligan's Island, Hogan's Heroes, Brady Bunch, etc..) and cartoons, like the two above. I love the spot on mid-60s aesthetic of the cartoons, if mid-century modern was a cartoon, those are the cartoons it would be.

As long as I'm on the subject, I'll confess to an unpopular opinion. Maybe because of repeated viewings on Cap't C, I like the Gene Deitch run of Tom & Jerry. He directed a dozen or so in 1961, and a ton of people pan them as awful, but I like 'em. That had a zeitgeist all their own, unlike the rest of T&J. (These were shows like High Steaks, Calypso Cat, Dicky Moe, It's Greek To Me-Ow...yeah, those ones.) Now get off my lawn.

116 Speaking of holiday leftovers and refuse....

anyone else heard of a stomach bug that makes you feel all bloated and sore around the middle (below the ribs but above the belly button), kind of nauseous, and not want to eat anything, but it doesn't make you actually throw up? Because that's what I've had since yesterday afternoon. I thought it was just my acid reflux flaring up at first from all the weird holiday food, but it bothered me enough around lunchtime today that I took off work early and went to the urgent care clinic. The nurse practitioner said she'd seen at least two other patients with the same issue this week so it was probably a GI bug that's going around. She wrote me a script to help with the nausea and it seems to have worked, I'm feeling much better now, but has anyone else had this issue?

125 Man accusing Governor of sexual abuse speaks out
https://t.co/mhxQw6mw25

The longtime Democratic political operative accusing Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham of sexual assault, is shedding some light on what he says happened.

James Hallinan says the Governor seemed to think it was funny when he says she grabbed his crotch. The Governor's Office says those claims are bizarre and slanderous.

"It really f* me up," says Hallinan.

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has already denied any wrongdoing. Now, Hallinan is telling his side of the story after posting vague tweets on Christmas Day about what he says happened during his time working for the then gubernatorial candidate.

"She took a water bottle and dumped it on my crotch and then slapped and grabbed me in front of everybody," he claims.

Hallinan is a former employee of the Governor's campaign and Attorney General Hector Balderas. He claims this assault happened at Representative Deborah Armstrong's home in the summer of 2018.

Hallinan waited more than a year to come forward and claims there was a reason for that. "Her campaign manager convinced me not to report it to law enforcement, convinced me not to quit the campaign, because I tried," he says.

127 Yeah, Hanna-Barbera turned out shite, but in their defense Disney would spend three years and millions of dollars to make a two hour movie, while H-B had to crank out something like four hours of product *per week*, on a budget of roughly $4.95.

H-B was capable of doing fine work when they had the time and the budget. Check out the early seasons of Jonny Quest (avoid the ultra-PC revival at all costs).

You might have to go into the BIOS setup utility, and change the boot sequence. Usually, during the boot process, there will be a brief screen prompt that reads "press F* to enter Setup". Where the asterisk is a wild card for whatever function key the BIOS builder chose to do that job.

But I can't even figure out a fig leaf of rationale for why they think he should be removed.

What has he DONE that is in any way improper for a President to do, that has not in fact been done by many other Presidents?

It frustrates me.

And you ask any sufferer of TDS for a reason, and they just spout off a bunch of BS, but never state an actual fact. They act like it is just common knowledge that Trump's "crimes" are numerous and well known to all, and don't even need to be stated.

The 90s was like a golden age for tv animation. Now it's such shit. Like a great comparison is the 90's Spider-man animated series, and now go look at the current Spider-man series.

Such a drop in quality. And it wasn't that long ago they were doing decent quality because the previous animated Ultimate Spider-man from just a couple years ago was pretty good animation quality.

Story from late 50's, early 60's London - 2 of the biggest British box office stars at the time were Richard Burton and Hugh Griffith. (played the rich Arab in Ben Hur, among many other roles) They were both Welsh, they were considered the two most notorious drinkin' buddies in all of London. They were legendary for hanging out at popular London Bars, drinking non-stop, forcing them to stay open as long as they wanted, and then putting on impromptu drunken ad-lib performances on bar counters for anyone who was there with them. They also usually trashed the bars they were hanging out in.

I have always wondered just how incredible it would have been to go to what you thought was an ordinary night at the bar and see something like that break out.

Yeah, go into the BIOS and see if there's some sort of RAID set up. They used to have that a lot. Some special RAID mode that required boot drivers to work in general.

In some cases, you could install things from a running Windows system, and the drivers would switch things over to RAID mode. The system wouldn't boot then without the RAID aware drivers.

True story-on my word as a non-Biden

I worked at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans. Liz Taylor was there for a run of "The Little Foxes".

A friend had backstage duty, basically to keep everyone away from Miss Taylor's dressing room.

A 12 piece box of Popeye's was delivered for Miss Taylor.

"Put it on the floor." Door opens, foot retrieves the box of Fried chicken.

45 minutes or so later, door opens just enough to push it back out.

Nothing but bones.

It's an awesomely stated point. They don't care.

Today I was arguing with Lefty (extremely rare) because he was making fun of his "friend" who didn't like ObamaCare even though she has chronic illness. He said what's wrong with providing healthcare for everyone?

I told him it doesn't "provide Healthcare for everyone". It's a giant handout by one political party to the big insurance companies who wrote it. He said he didn't mind because "someone has to make out in the deal". I said "the people" are supposed to make out in the deal. Not big corporations. Didn't faze him.

Lefties don't care about one thing they profess to care about other than sexual deviance and taking away rights from Americans they disagree with.

Even Marx realized labor did not impart value to everything, he referred to productive labor only. Unfortunately, "productive" actually means "something that has use for someone" and you are right back to having to pretend that individual demand drives the concept of value, and both parties in a voluntary exchange seek profit or else they don't make it, and pretending that the concept of worth is a subjective and not an objective element.

I will admit that Marx truly understood and described interchanges under a coercive regime, and I claim that there is objective proof of this based on observation of the societies that have used his political and economic system to run their countries, and what was the ultimate result.

490 249 Hey everybody, again.

Okay, I promised an update on my arm situation, so here goes. Saw my doctor and she did immediate X-rays. Turns out it looks like I have a pinched nerve in my neck.

She gave me a referral to physical therapy and a neurologist, but in the meantime, she thinks the damage is reversible. Still, she definitely wants me to kick it up several notches on the diet and exercise, which I plan to do. I already got me a big bag of spicy beef jerky for snacks. :-)

So, looks like I'm gonna live. Yay!
Posted by: qdpsteve
-------
I was in misery for nearly two months and the doc tried everything as well as physical therapy without any success.

Then I finally convinced them to allow me some chiropractic visits and I've been to four so far and I feel like a new man. I've got 8 more visits left on the original authorization and the chiropractor swears he will have me dancing by then.

You should check into it.

491 a good chiropractor is worth their weight in gold.

i'm blessed in that the office i go to is owned by a vet who decided he liked me and Herself, and considers us friends.

i get my care on the left, and herself pays though insurance.

adjustments, cold laser therapy, joint tapings, etc...

you name it, i get it. he and his peeps are absolute lifesavers, allowing my broken body to still "function", after a fashion...

i'd be F'ed w/o them.

I have such a stereo, a Pioneer, on hand, salvaged from a '95 Chevy pickup I scrapped out. Looking up radio pinouts, I think this might just plug right in with the adaptor harness already on the stereo.

That would be nice.

Here's something I am trying to remember how it was done, but I might have the initial conditions or rules for making moves wrong. It was part of a team building exercise during a training course that I took IIRC.

You have, say, seven people standing in a line on which there are eight places to stand:

A B C D _ E F G, where the underscore is the open space.

Only two people can change places at a time (or one person and the open space).

How do people move from the initial position shown above to this final position:

G F E _ D C B A

(There may have been more than one open space.)

Is this familiar at all to any of you? Thanks!
