Graham notes that IG found dossier was central and essential to securing wiretap on American citizens. Now explaining how that document was funded by Clinton/DNC and that FISA court was not told that. Neither were they told that dossier author was obsessed with defeating Trump.

Note well that even though the FBI and the deep state knew the Steele dossier was completely false and had been specifically repudiated by Steele's alleged primary source (who is almost certainly corrupt Russian oligarch and Steele's previous employer Oleg Deripaska) by no later than January 2017, they continued renewing the FISA applications, reincorporating claims about Steele's reliability they now knew to be 100% false, throughout Trump's first year in office.

This is "perpetrating a fraud on the court," and it's a crime.

Graham: How would you like this to happen in your life? In January 2017 there is no benefit of the doubt to be given. These 5 people from DOJ/FBI have been told dossier is garbage. The question is how far up did it go? Why they kept going? Maybe b/c they were on mission.

Comey claimed the report vindicated him. Horowitz said no one mentioned in it was vindicated. Also, Graham threatens the FISA court that unless they do not punish this clear fraud appropriately, the court will reveal itself to be corrupt and in need of reform if not abolition.

One point that Cornyn made was that CIA officers claim that they go up to the line but not over the line in important cases.

I think that he meant to imply the following: These guys went up to the line and then over the line for a corrupt and illegal purpose (getting a political opponent). By doing so, they have destroyed the ability of the FBI and CIA to "go up to the line but not over the line," because now they will no longer be permitted that much latitude.

In other words: Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and Barack Obama have made it much more likely that Americans will be killed by terrorists because the FBI and CIA will need to be reigned in and cannot occasionally step over that line for a defensible purpose.

I know a lot of people are trying to read the IG report tea leaves for good omens. But, I can't see it.

The report was rumored to include referrals for prosecutions. But that didn't happen. Not even for criminal investigations by DoJ. Instead it found no bias or criminal intent.

To be sure, it also found massive malfeasance. But nobody outside of the politicized Right will ever hear that. Nobody.

And as Hannity and many others point out, the AG and his prosecutor have more power and latitude than the IG and have access to all the same evidence, plus some.

So, let's assume the rumors about and statements by Durham and Barr are 100% true... should they bring a prosecution against anyone (by means of arrest or indictment by Grand Jury), they will now have to prosecute the portion of their case based on FISA abuse in a manner that justifies their divergence from the conclusions of their own IG.

In what world is that somehow better than one in which there's an IG report that concurs with their viewpoint, and recommends prosecutions? Or for that matter, a world in which no IG report happened in the first place?

Horowitz did his job. He gave the Demedia their talking point. He gave prospective perps' defense attorneys a legally meaningless, but very useful defense against a putative prosecutor. And, they tainted any potential jury that might be called.

I just can't see the win here, no matter how hard I try.

I am a reluctant admirer of Barr, and given the one man can make a difference Trump phenomena, I cannot entirely discount the idea that they will, in fact, ultimately make a difference.

If that difference is merely primping FISC around the edges, that is a major fail. If not one person is held to account with indictments for the attempted coup, that is a major fail. I have said I will give Barr six months grace, given that he has only been on the job for about six months.

We cannot continue to exist as a Republic, if it comes down to one or two guys, over and over again.
