George Zimmerman Files $100 Million Lawsuit Against Trayvon Martin's Family, Alleging They Hired an Imposter to Play the Role of "The Girlfriend on the Phone With Trayvon"
The lawsuit alleges that Rachel Jenteal -- of "That's real retarded, sir" fame -- was not the woman on the phone with Trayvon Martin just before the attack.
The suit claims that that woman refused to testify -- so the Martin family hired someone to claim she was the one on the phone to try to convict Zimmerman. And to then to relay false details of a phone call she was never on to try to hang Zimmerman.Interesting stuff. It never made sense that Rachel Jeantel was Martin's "girlfriend." I mean, give me a break.
The Trayvon Martin case was built on a fraud, with a key witness being swapped out with an imposter when the real witness wouldn’t testify, George Zimmerman said in a lawsuit Wednesday. The lawsuit says Martin was on the phone with his girlfriend, a vivacious 16-year-old named Brittany Diamond Eugene, when Zimmerman killed him on Feb. 26, 2012. At trial, prosecutors produced the plump, slow-spoken 18-year-old Rachel Jeantel as the girl who had crucial insight into his final moments by being on the phone with him. The lawsuit says Eugene refused to provide the version of events used to build a narrative of racism at trial, so Jeantel, who reads at a fourth-grade level, was pressured into pretending to be "Diamond." The lawsuit seeks $100 million and names both young women as defendants, plus Martin's parents, who it says were well aware of the swap. Zimmerman’s lawyer filed the lawsuit in state court in Florida and it also targets the state of Florida and its prosecutors, who allegedly initially falsely told the defense that Martin’s cellphone was too damaged to extract its data, when it actually contained evidence damaging to their case. That includes not only evidence of the witness swap, but also texts showing Martin previously discussing gun sales and bragging of beating up a "snitch" and saying, "He aint bleed nuff 4 me, only his nosez." Prosecutors also ran out the clock by repeatedly ignoring the defense's entitlement to exculpatory evidence, the suit says.

I disagree with that characterization.
He was part of a neighborhood watch and until Martin attacked him that was all he was doing.
People who say otherwise don't even know the details of what the best analysis of the physical evidence proves. It proves that he was walking back to his truck from the sign that he read to give the police a place to meet him, when he was attacked by a Martin who had doubled back. Zimmerman has always maintained he was on his way back to the truck and was going to wait for the police there.
Not a shred of credible evidence shows anything other. A lot of narrative suggests something else. But no evidence.
They wanted to convict a man for defending himself on narrative.
Just like they want to impeach a man for not using his power as they would want him to.

As I see it, he was a responsible hero ... and he correctly judged Trayvon as having possible malicious intent. He looked for where the guy (acting suspiciously) was going, and Trayvon assaulted him.
Zimmerman was acting as a neighborhood watch guy ... one can't always just wait for the police ... (usually) better to follow so the cops can find the guy. I don't think Z' even approached him ... Trayvon hid in wait ... then confronted him and then attacked him.
imo society would be better off with more Zimmermans ... not more people that will never offend anyone, so they instead always "stand down".

In the case I knew of, it was a long, signed witness statement accusing a man of rape. When it was proved to be false, she said "I didn't even write that, the deputies wrote that up and told me to sign it, so I did". And it was clearly not her handwriting.

Am sure the doctors will run lots of tests and strive in earnest to find an answer. However, if one isn't found quickly, I hope the parents request -- as long as the doctors are already drawing blood for other tests -- that a little extra is drawn to test for celiac disease (gluten intolerance).
I personally know a child who (at 18 months) kept losing weight and eventually was unable to walk. After 3 weeks in the hospital and various best-guess answers, the mother insisted her child be tested for gluten intolerance. The results came back off-the-charts and, after 3 days of removing gluten from his diet, the child was able to walk again. Many doctors are reluctant to do the test because the "cure" requires no medications or follow-up visits.

The country made what I think is a bad deal about 100 years ago, maybe more. Judges and everyone else had decided it was time to clean up the rather shockingly corrupt police system that existed in most major cities well into the 1930's. But, they didn't want to be "anti-law and order" or look like they were "supporting criminals". So, everyone settled on this bargain - when a Police Officer, or a DA, is caught faking evidence and messing with a detainee's rights, we just drop all charges and let everyone go (including the arrestee, even if there's still evidence of him committing some serious crimes) and never say anything about it again. We've been doing that for a long time now, and it happens a lot more often than most people would guess.

Fun Story - I was subjected to an IQ exam in college. My girlfriend at the time was a psych major and needed practice / hours spent administering the test / whatever as part of her masters'.
It was actually kinda fun. It focuses on your ability to process and recall arbitrary things, not necessarily rote learning from school. Stuff like, "I'm going to recite a string of numbers to you, tell them back to me in the order I give you," and you start off with three digits, then four, then five, and so on until you can't do it correctly anymore. Then after that, "I'm goin to recite a string of numbers to you, tell them back to me in reverse order." Same deal.
That said, I agree wholeheartedly - watching Uncle Sniffy waddle his way through these sorts of tests would be a riot. I do not think he would fare nearly as well as anyone "one heartbeat away from the Presidency" ought to.

Zimmerman called in suspicious activity by Martin, lingering to long looking at houses. This is not a crime, but in a neighborhood that had a recent string of breakins, a concern and "suspicious behavior".
When the dispatcher (not exactly a "cop", because they are not engaged) asked him where he was, he got out of his truck to walk to the nearest sign.
Then Martin starts moving away and Zimmerman runs to chase him. The wind whistles by the phone and GZ huffs.
"Are you following him?"

"We don't need you to do that." (Notice that's not an ORDER!)
The wind over the phone mic *stops*. He is not jogging anymore, and the phone call continues with him saying he will be waiting at his truck.
The re-constructed timeline indicates that per every statement by Zimmerman, he was walking back to his truck (there is very little time for him to get from where the sign can be read to where the altercation happened, if here weren't walking *straight* back). And that also suggests that it is Martin who pursued Zimmerman.
At that point, we have Zimmerman's statement that Martin assaulted him, knocked him to the ground, jumped on him was beating on him (other eyewitness testimony, here) and bouncing his head against the pavement saying (according to Zimmerman) "You're going to die tonight".
All the physical evidence, it it doesn't confirm it, is consistent with this timeline.
Anybody who doesn't know this timeline is not trying.

I've been seeing that spot for quite a while. Charming, except that it ignores the reality (nowadays) that if a husband buys his wife exercise gear, he is likely to get his gonads handed to him. "Do you think I'm fat? Answer me! Am I fat?"
The character's reaction as shown in the spot is the way such a dynamic ought to play out: "My husband listened to my Christmas wish and bought me what I asked for. That's how much he loves me."

It's not racist or predatory to note that but establishes the exact pattern of behavior that would be consistent with Zimmerman's allegations.

You've heard stories. Oh my. Let's convict somebody over *stories*. Stories from eyewitnesses that don't exist that saw a confrontation between TM and GZ?
Nobody has brought any evidence that there was any confrontation before Martin and Zimmerman were physically engaged.
Notice the way I said that: I would say it's even possible that Martin just wanted to confront Zimmerman about following him, and GZ threw the first punch. But there is nothing to establish this possibility. So, Let's not argue that we should start convicting anyone on the possibility that they began the attack.
But there has been no establishment that before Martin doubled back (as 4 things indicate) they ever got close enough for Zimmerman to say word one to him.

This was all dismissed as "stand your ground", but it was the SYG law that the DA's office was using as an outer bound of what was even convictable regarding the ambiguities of the case and the inevitability that Martin could not testify to his side. In the end with the "reasonable doubt" standard, it was nothing but a case of self-defense. But SYG would have given Zimmerman even more leeway, as long as they couldn't prove that GZ was the aggressor.

All the language suggests distance. Martin thinks the guy might be gay. Why would that need to be speculated if Zimmerman had already given him what for about suspicious B&E-ish behavior?

Most people here not only watched every single minute of the trial, but closely followed it for months prior. Your opinions about this are based on a fictional version of events that you "heard" so much that you believe it. Ours are based on facts and evidence. No offense, as this is a quantitative statement, but you are obviously largely ignorant of both.

Don't get me wrong. It SOUNDS like the kind of shady crap they'd try to pull.
But I'm highly skeptical for 2 reasons:
1) She was TERRIBLE on the stand. If you're going to hire an impostor you'd think they'd hire one that was actually intelligent and literate and actually prepare them for the stand - remember the "I can't read cursive" disaster? Her entire attitude was a disaster for the prosecution.
2) It has been quite a long time since the trial (almost 5 years now). To have this come to light only now is.... suspicious.
I'm going to need to see the receipts on this claim before I get up in arms about it.
