I had a good day, wrote a couple of SQL scripts, also had to solve three support problems. I think tomorrow I might have a conversation with the support department about how they can answer questions before passing them to us coders as 'bugs'.

As far as I can see, Oregon has no authority to prevent that. ICE should act accordingly, and if Oregon cops try to stop ICE from doing its job, shoot 'em down. And when that happens, declare Oregon to be in a state of insurrection, send in the regular Army to take control, and put it under martial law. Hang Democrats until you run out.

I saw the ruling from the WA supreme court re: property owners rights to rent to whomever they wanted.
Add in the suits to block the $30.00 tab fee which the same court will overturn because... shut up peasant. The fascists on the west side are pushing hard for danger.

The county sheriff in maybe four of the thirty-six counties in Oregon would even consider enforcing this order - in most of the rest, the response will be LOLGF. Sheriffs are elected.
Some rural Oregon sheriffs need to go to Federal court to get an order that this ruling by the Oregon judge is illegal. Trump has nearly flipped the Ninth Circuit, so it may not even have to go to the Supreme Court.
And yeah, the Chief Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court seems to be actively engaging in sedition.

Nice way to create a housing shortage. If I had an upper flat I was renting, I'd reconsider once the current resident moved on. I wouldn't want someone living above me I knew nothing about.

No, at least not in Seattle. The city council is attacking AirBampersandB property owners if they rent out their home or condo for more than a limited about of days each month.
The thought process behind this fiasco is they think evil property owners are buying up the available supply of single family housing and making a profit with it. Everyone should only have one house. Or only rent it out on a traditional lease.

After the show, I watched a video of The Highwaymen Live, recorded in 1990, at a concert in Long Island, NY. It was a PBS thing from over a year ago, I watch it once in a while.
Willie, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson.
Willie was still in his prime, as was Waylon. Johnny was older but still hit the notes. Kris was also in tune.
That was 29 years ago.

Washington State has some of the loosest, easy to beat voting laws of any state.
Ballots in the mail three weeks before the election, reports of hundreds of duplicate ballots mailed out, no need for voter ID, anyone can turn in anyone else's ballot, ballots are counted for a week after voting polls close as long as the postmark is ok.
Just some of the corruption. The biggest corruption is that ANYONE who gets a drivers license, can easily fill out a 5 line card and be registered to vote immediately. In 25 years, not a single one has been checked to see if they were actually a US citizen.
I have seen foreigners from Mexico and El Salvador register to vote as I was getting my license renewed one day a few years back. I asked the clerk about it, and he said he was told to just hand it out and put it in the proper stack.
The corruption is deep in WA state. We actually make Chicago and Illinois politics look honest.
But here is the thing. It is the Seattle/Olympia lefties who control the press and the infrastructure. The rest of the state could actually outvote them if they organized like the Democrats in DC. But not enough do.

I have similar interactions nearly every day around here. My go to answer is "I didn't vote him to be my priest, I voted for him to be my President."
My fall back answer is "so when we get into a War with China, who do you want in the White House, Trump or (insert pussy Democrat name here, depending on conversation.)
I get some "yeah, but" on the first one, but usually the second one gets dead silence, always either no answer or "well, Trump", and is quite effective at bringing out reality.

Web was getting a little frightened when in the midst of the spasming, twitching, gurgling and Do-ing her right arm started swinging in circles as if she was going to pitch a softball and she let out the most horrifying, unnatural noise ever heard in Arkansas. It was a savage howl.
It was all Web could do to find his car keys and run. He did not even look back. He ran and ran and ran trying to forget the site of the spasming, twitching Do-ing blob of alabaster fat quivering on top of a stack of snow tires But no matter how far he ran or fast he drove, he cold never forget the savage howler.

I'm reading Douglas Murray's book "The Strange Death of Europe" right now and I'm struck by something he wrote: that Western Europeans have lost a sense of tragedy (you'd think they'd still have it since there are still a few people around who were alive during WWII, but no). They think their pleasant lives will continue on indefinitely, that nothing really bad can happen to them.
Murray says Eastern Europeans know it can be lost in a flash, that everything can be swept away. So they vote quite differently.
I'm afraid many Americans are like Western Europeans.

There are so many ways to corrupt the vote here in WA, it is unbelievable.
The day of registration trick is how Kashama Sawant got re-elected. She was losing badly in the polls, and in her city district, a record number of same day ballots were issued. When the votes were counted on election night, she was down by 54% to 46%. Votes started being reported a little after 8pm, and Sawant was down big. Yet, the votes that came in days later (it is possible to get a postmark in one post office at 11pm if you know where to get it, I do) let her keep her seat.
Yes, a FIXED vote. FIXED.

The vote against affirmative action in Washington was winning by ten points on Election Night, and then nearly lost as the late ballots came in.
Bad as Oregon is, at least you have to get your ballot to the election office by 8 PM on Election Day (whether by mail or dropping off your ballot). I'm sure there will soon be a proposal to adopt Washington's system.

I'm hazy on this, but I thought that Willie DID lose his guitar to the IRS, but then one of Willie's fans or friends won it in the auction and gave it back to him. I may not be accurate, it might have been some of Willie's other stuff.

I had the opportunity to meet Chris Wedes, aka, JP Patches, a few times before he passed.
Guy was as humble and kind as any human being I have ever met.
For those morons out of the area, JP Patches was a local legend. A clown that lived in the city dump, and his girl friend Gertrude (guy in very poor drag) was a regular.
His shows were low budget but funny. There were a lot of double-meaning jokes that my mom would laugh at when I was about 10.

In retaliation the Browns player ripped his helmet off and smacked him with it. Then two Steelers lineman got a hold of him him, threw him down, one held him while one kicked him in the head. What the court is saying (or rather approving Seattle saying) is, if you want to go into the business of renting out housing units, you have to take the first person who meets all of your publicly-posted, objective criteria and cannot reject that applicant for subjective reasons. The owner of the property has effectively lost control who they rent to.
They cannot check if they have a criminal record. They cannot make a determination if that person/people are compatible with the rest of the tenants, who have paid their rent on time and kept their place up.
For a mom and pop owner, whose entire wealth is often tied up in that property, a key step to success is finding tenants that are dependable. Move ins and move outs cost everyone money. Deep pocket corporate investors just raise the rent as much as the internal calculation says.
So, no, it essentially takes control of their property out of their hands.
And just because you have families with small kids in your other 7 units, who have paid on time for years and have created a great little neighborhood, you cannot turn down the guy who suspiciously looks like that rapist that got out of prison a few years ago.
And no, when the cops break down the door of the rapist and destroys the unit in the process, insurance may or may not cover it. But you are still out the rent money for the 3 months to rehab the unit.
It is as bad as we say. We live in the real world, with kooks and crazies, and now can't sort them out because of Seattle's Sawant law.

That's not exactly what went down. The Browns sacked the Steelers QB, who attempted to rip the Browns player's helmet off and failed. In retaliation the Browns player ripped his helmet off and smacked him with it. Then two Steelers lineman got a hold of him him, threw him down, one held him while one kicked him in the head. The Browns guy should get fined and suspended, three stealers should be fined and suspended.

Miles Garrett was in the dominant position, taking Rudolph to the ground. Rudolph reached up an grabbed his helmet. At that point Rudolph was clearly in the wrong. But then Garrett grabbed Rudolph's helmet and dragged him across the ground until the helmet came off, and then proceeded to beat Rudolph over the head with it, fighting through Pouncey and the other Steeler to do so. Rudolph was guilty of aggressive defense. Garrett was clearly trying to seriously hurt Rudolph, intentionally. My verdict? 1 game suspension for Rudolph, at least the rest of the season for Garrett. Pouncey gets a game and children are enjoined to call him a dumbass for the rest of his life for being stupid enough to repeatedly punch a guy in the helmet.
Of course, when the Browns play the Steelers, I root for casualties, and tonight, I got 'em!

It was rather weird. When the police came they sounded rather disappointed that the husband was calm. Just asked me to put the dog away, and then arrested her. At court I said I wanted her home with me, went to a divorce lawyer, got her out of the house and did what needed to be done to survive.

I haven't mentioned it here, but Joyce Yvonne Dawg, mother of Left Coast Dawg, passed last week. She was 86.
Her body finally gave out on her, but her wit, her smarts, and her incredibly positive outlook on life stayed with her to the end. Complete strangers came up to me and told me how much they liked her and how she would engage them and talk.
Her 4 sons, and 3 of her 6 grand children were with her as God decided it was her time to come home.

My dad had prostate cancer w/bone metastasis. I could tell you all about how it went, but that wouldn't mean anything re: your wife's prognosis or what she will experience.
Write down all your questions and be sure to ask the Dr(s).
Dad's oncologist has a "social services coordinator" who was extremely helpful: she helped me find home health assistance, had all kinds of informative handouts, lists of community resources (support groups and the like)... just about anything we needed, she knew where to find it!
Hope it's all a false alarm! (you did say it's not confirmed...)

My Mom was a three time cancer survivor. She live a wonderful 35 years after her first diagnosis of a usually fatal cancer. We were very close. I learned a lot about cancer and people and doctors and heathcare and on and on and one to remeber is that if you don't ask they won't say. Write everything down before the appointment and go over it question by question with the doc. It's hard to keep a clear head in the office.
Also, every case is different. Other folks experience with the disease per se is of limited use. They're experience in living with it is.

Sorry, I looked -- there are various compilations of Warren Wells catches, but none seem to feature that particular one. I think the game was some random unimportant game, that the Raiders ultimately lost -- the catch wasn't even a touchdown, just a loooong first down. And the Raiders probably fumbled the ball on the next play, I wouldn't doubt. But I definitely remember seeing it (not live, but on film at some point). Almost every catch Wells ever made was spectacular (he held the career NFL record in yards per catch, for decades), averaging over 23 yards per catch for his entire career, which seems impossible, but it's true. I think he and Lamonica had a special play between them, which Lamonica called several times per game: "After the hike, you run as fast as you can straight downfield, and I'll throw it as far as I can possibly can without really aiming, and see if you can get underneath it." Incredibly, it sometimes worked!

My husband is in denial about the cause of his seizure last week. I found out he wasn't taking his meds as prescribed. This could've put more people at risk than just himself. Thankfully that didn't happen, but I am so angry with his lack of concern. As a result, he put his job in jeopardy, too. He says he gets it now, but his thinking is not completely clear yet, as his pillbox still had last nite's dose in it when he went to bed after i asked him if he took it, and he said he did. We argued and he took it. I am at a loss about his attitude.
Going to make for a stressful weekend at mom's not being able to moniter him at home.
Life here, has changed again. Not for the better.

Thanks for asking. nHer Majesty is back at work. She uses a cane to get around long distances but walks unaided short distances.
She's doing physical therapy and they give her a working over. She still has problems, not with the knee but the supporting structure around it. It's going to be a while before she's back to normal, but she's a trouper.

I watched a youtube from Jordan Peterson on IQ. As he pointed out about 10% to 12% of our society have an IQ of less than 83 (about 2 standard deviations) and basically cannot function in society. And pouring out cash to them is not really an answer. We have known this since WWI and yet no one wants to talk about this.
American are generous and were willing to spend money on Medicaid for poor women and children. Then Medicaid was turned into a free for all for working single adults. Every government program will be abused by government employees and citizens.

I envision a world of Marching Morons, where the stupid are supported by a few competent people. But then I look at CA, and worry.
My solution is to go around the system. Our Constitution Bee does it for civics, and my startup can do it for home-schooled science.

Do they ever explain their thinking and the long game? I could see someone disliking Trump's style, abrasiveness, and sometimes unnecessary divisiveness. I could see someone pinning for the days of Reagan or Eisenhower. But what a don't get are normals who hate Trump and think the way to go is full on lefty, progressive, statist, socialism. That is the thing I can never understand.
This is not a popularity or Miss Congeniality contest. Are people really willing to give up the American experiment because they don't happen to like the head of the Executive Branch? Are they willing to give up the 1A and 2A, among other amendments, because Trump can be abrasive and caustic?
He has governed much more calmly than he speaks. His bark is worse than his bite. He has given us conservative/originalist judges. He has started not a single war. The economy is booming. Funny, when Clinton had all his issues, he knew and said, "It is the economy, stupid!". But for some reason the great economy is a given to so many now. It doesn't help Trump because, well, Trump.
Do they even know what a president does? He is not our wing man, he is not our best bud. If we are not in a major war and the economy is doing ok, he is pretty much doing his job. But no, with Trump, there are no metrics that matter but hating him. Who cares if people are doing well if we think he is a bad guy.
Well, grow up people. If you are willing to overthrow the nation our betters gave us because you don't like the guy in office, then we are in big trouble. If people are willing to start tearing up the Constitution because they don't like one guy, then what allegiance to the Constitution did they have in the first place? This is not cool JFK vs meanie Nixon. This is continuing the American Experiment vs blowing the whole thing up. And tearing the nation apart.

It is a horrible way to go through life. I admit there were some R's that hated Obama and obsessed over it. I saw online that many lefties were so upset about Bush that they could not get out of bed in the morning. Could you imagine someone living on the plains that was so upset about Polk that they would not get out of bed and chop wood for the fire?
I have mentioned this before but it has stuck with me. The night Trump won Colbert said Americans should not focus on national politics daily. We are supposed to come together every four years and vote. Then we have to get on with our lives. It is not healthy to focus on politics as we have so much else to do to make our lives better. That is a major paraphrase but that is what I got from his speech.
He belied that statement with every single thing he has done and said since that moment.
