Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Portland Antifa Terrorist Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Splitting a Citizen's Head Open With a Steel BludgeonThis is a CNN's and left-wing-media endorsed domestic terrorist organization, remember.Gage Halupowski is a 24-year-old Antifa goon who joined a rally in Portland back in June. During the rally, Halupowski struck Adam Kelly over the back of the head with a metal baton. Kelly wound up in the hospital where he received 25 staples to close the wound to his scalp. Last Friday, Halupowski was sentenced in the attack...Likely he was only charged and prosecuted because there were videos of him committing the brutal attack, and even the left-wing knows better than to admit its devotion to anarchic violence openly. Video at the link, including a video of Andy Ngo noting that his own assailants have not been punished, and the professor who beat someone in the skull with a heavy metal bike-lock got no jail time. At the end of this video are images from Andy Ngo's home security camera, showing masked antifa thugs pounding on his door late at night. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Seriously, look at what the Brownshirts were like and the role they played in German politics; it's IDENTICAL to Antifa's behavior and role in modern times.
And don't tell me that they are "mirror images" of each other rather than "identical" because the Brownshirts were "far right" while Antifa are "far left." in reality, they meet at the back of the spectrum and there is no discernable difference between their ideology and their tactics. Part of the thing with the Brownshirts, FreiKorps and so forth was that there were a bunch of assholes mixing it up in the streets. The commies were mixing it up with the National Socialists. It was a mess. The chaos was bad enough to where when one group promised to end it, well they got the thumbs up.

Zombie, for years I have said that the political spectrum is a circle, where the extremes meet in the back. This is self evident. Think of it as like Larry Niven's Ringworld, with relative positions of sanity/insanity laid out in three dimensions rather than only two spread out on a line. Travel too far in either direction and you end up in the same place.

I would have gone with the Communist Party of Germany and their party's paramilitary wingthe Roter Frontkämpferbund ("Alliance of Red Front-Fighters"). In 1932 the KPD also founded Antifaschistische Aktion, commonly known as Antifa, which it described as a "red united front under the leadership of the only anti-fascist party, the KPD," and which largely attacked the "social fascists". Communist Cubans call these violent attacks "acts of repudiation" and they are state-sanctioned. The United States and other Western countries call these actions "anti-fascist" and they are unofficially state-sanctioned. The state-sanctioned media in Cuba and the West adore the perps.
Our "victory" in the Cold War seems more hollow each day. Death squads probably are coming, hence the need to throw the more violent and publicized attackers to the wolves on rare occasions. Posted by: Trump poisoned my cat at November 05, 2019 07:18 PM (iw59Q) 60

Ahem:
""Beefsteaks" within the ranks of the Brownshirts In his 1936 Hitler: A Biography, German historian Konrad Heiden remarked that within the SA ranks, there were "large numbers of Communists and Social Democrats" and that "many of the storm troops were called 'beefsteaks' -- brown outside and red within."[46] The influx of non-Nazis into the Sturmabteilung membership was so prevalent that SA men would joke that "In our storm troop there are three Nazis, but we shall soon have spewed them out." The number of 'beefsteaks' was estimated to be large in some cities, especially in northern Germany, where the influence of Gregor Strasser and Strasserism was significant.[47] The head of the Gestapo from 1933 to 1934, Rudolf Diels, reported that "70 percent" of the new SA recruits in the city of Berlin had been communists.[48] This is evidenced further by historians, "As for the prior youth group memberships, nearly half of the SS members and nearly one-third of the instant stormtroopers were with the Free Corps, vigilantes, or militant veterans' groups during their first 25 years of life. They also came in disproportionate numbers from left-wing youth groups such as the Socialist or Communist Youth or the Red Front (RFB)." Some have argued that since most SA members came from working-class families or were unemployed, they were more amenable to Marxist-leaning socialism, expecting Hitler to fulfill the 25-point National Socialist Program." Didn't a bunch of Proud Boys get railroaded into jail for defending themselves against Antifa in Portland and NYC? It's true. In Democrat cities the police stand by when the Left attacks, and do nothing. If you fight back the police move in to defend the Left and make arrests. These are set-ups. One of the communists' favorite example, Charlottesville, was a complete set-up. The organizers were associated with the Occupy movement and Hillary Clinton. The police, city government, and organizers were all in on it. The only people who didn't know what was going on were the 300 or so schmuck demonstrators who were funneled by the police into a gauntlet of Antifa, who outnumbered and attacked them. They were suckers. Avoid crowds. State-sanctioned communist mobs are in their prepared battle space. Posted by: Semi-Literate Thug at November 05, 2019 07:23 PM (tfFZz) 83

Posted by: Weasel at November 05, 2019 07:19 PM The first Halloween after we moved out into the sticks I had bought a truckload of candy, based on our other house in the burbs. Not realizing we wouldn't have many kids. So after 5 or 6 kids the whole night, the last ones shoed up and I literally gave them each like 20 pieces of candy. The look on their faces was priceless! Anthony Hopkins used to tell a story that when the film first came out, if he found himself in a city where it was playing, he would go into the theater, find someone sitting alone and sit down behind them.
And then, at the scariest, tensest point, would lean forward, tap them on the shoulder and say, in his Hannibal Lecter voice, "Are you enjoying the movie?" Says he scared the shit out of people. Portland Antifa is trying to disrupt a event tonight starring Dinesh D'Souza and Brandon Straka in Portland this evening on behalf of "Walk Away".
Because you aren't allowed to suggest that Democrats should vote Republican in Portland. Reaction to this event is truly deranged (there's an election in Portland today): "RESCUE AMERICA - TOWN HALL" takes place four blocks (0.3 miles) from the Multnomah County Elections office, in the last few hours before ballots are due. I would like to know how the Melody Ballroom feels about its complicity in the inevitable acts of voter harassment and intimidation poised to occur in one of the county's most popular ballot drops. I'll wait. Since they are trying to shut down an event in a private venue, it's not a First Amendment violation, you see. Posted by: The ARC of History at November 05, 2019 07:30 PM (I2/tG) 119

Posted by: zombie at November 05, 2019 07:23 PM (fK2gX) --- The Nazi-Communist rivalry was not left/right but left/left. That's why it was so bitter. They were thiscloseapart on most of the issues. The difference was that National Socialists believed that socialism should benefit their countrymen at the cost of everyone else, whereas the Communists wanted a class consciousness that went beyond national boundaries. That's why there was an Comintern. When the Nazis gained the upper hand, it was easy for the former reds to get with the program, because it was most of what they wanted anyway. And don't tell me that they are "mirror images" of each other rather than "identical" because the Brownshirts were "far right" while Antifa are "far left." in reality, they meet at the back of the spectrum and there is no discernable difference between their ideology and their tactics.
------- Competing but very similar movements with somewhat different goals. Antifa was the paramilitary faction of the Communists back then too, and they battled the SA, the Stahlhem, the Freikorp, and the Eisernefronte in the Weimar Royal rumble for absolute power. Where the mirror image comes in is different: the corrupt, self-serving Weimar State preferred everyone to the Communists, and would turn every blind eye to these factions' violence against them, while cracking down on the KPD for every move they made. In fact - the whole reason Antifa was formed up illegally from the street rabble in the first place, was that the Weimar authorities proscribed and dissolved the Roter Frontkampferbund (the KPD's official paramilitary), to place the KPD at a violence disadvantage in the melee. The dynamic is very similar to the one in our rotted out husk of a republic, but our corrupt State backs the Communists against everyone else, and protects Antifa, and harshly punishes groups like the Proud Boys.
Posted by: zombie at November 05, 2019 07:10 PM (fK2gX) They used to say of the Nazi Brownshirts "Brown on the outside, Red on the inside". And after defeating Weimar the Brownshirts coopted a lot of the Commie Antifa troops into their ranks. Then they got purged in the "Night of the Long Knives" by the SS in an internal turf war. Anna - so, defectors? Not just captured planes? Wow.
Another wild defection story involved a P-38 pilot in Burma. He decided he wanted to join the Luftwaffe, so he went AWOL, used mil-air to hitch rides all the way to an Italian airbase, took up one of the [I believe recon] P-38s, and defected to the krauts. Forget how they used him. He evaded justice somehow, *enlisted back in the Army* after coming back home, and was discovered, tried, and imprisoned only a bit later. Amazing. rhomboid - the book I was assigned in kollij was "Hitler: A Portrait in Tyranny", which as I remember mainly argued that Hitler was bad. Okay. But you're preaching to a (part) Euro Joo here and I already knew that. What I wanted to know was how did this bad man who was bad convince so many Germans - a generally level headed people - that he wasn't?
Recently I read AJP Taylor's "Origins of the Second World War" which focused on British grand strategy in Central Europe, which obviously failed, because they were dealing with Hitler. That was good for what it was. Didn't explain *Germany* much. Arthur Bryant's "Unfinished Victory" tried to get into the 1920-36 German brain. It seemed reasonable to me. If a little maledited. "262 I read some comments from folks on the coast about the tsunami exits. Seems some of the roads that are marked as tsunami exits have gates across them. They said that you are not supposed to drive on those roads to escape the tsunami. You are supposed to WALK them!

They used to say of the Nazi Brownshirts "Brown on the outside, Red on the inside". And after defeating Weimar the Brownshirts coopted a lot of the Commie Antifa troops into their ranks.
And the Soviets worked a lot of the SS into East Germany. Posted by: Rob Crawford at November 05, 2019 07:56 PM (naEeR) 281
And don't tell me that they are "mirror images" of each other rather
than "identical" because the Brownshirts were "far right" while Antifa are "far left." in reality, they meet at the back of the spectrum and there is no discernable difference between their ideology and their tactics. I thought that the Brownshirts were guess-who-else's forces. That would make them socialists, wouldn't it? Weren't they named the Nationalist Socialist Workers Party (IIRC)? Posted by: BackwardsBoy does whatever his television tells him at November 05, 2019 07:21 PM (HaL55) There is no "back of the spectrum". Nazis were in no respect ever, ever right wing by any definition outside of just assertion by Marxist professors. Posted by: Oldcat at November 05, 2019 07:56 PM (FTPn0) 282

Some people watch polls, I watch prices. Black rifle prices are coming back down so I think people are getting comfortable with the idea that Trump has this coming election in the bag.

We found a Civil Defense document for the Columbia River Gorge. It said that civilians were supposed to go to Bonneville Dam for shelter, in case of attack. My husband happened to mention it to a local sheriff's deputy. He told us there were orders to blow that dam, if we were under attack.

Well good for you. I notice you are not asking for any advice. We are so giving that way. If you want, ask him if he was a nuke or a non-nuke. I'm sure you can warm his heart with questions about his kids; if you want to be an instant Mom. His goals may be important. It's sorta like a job interview, with the chance to see each other without clothes if it goes well. May you have all the mattress-shredding, headboard-smashing yodel sex you can handle. 275 Seattle will get a bit more than flooding.
Seattle's protected by Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. No tsunami. Posted by: The ARC of History! at November 05, 2019 07:52 PM (I2/tG) actually, the opposite. Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca are over 500 feet deep in places. The waves of tsumanis crawl along the floor of the ocean/sound, and then rise up to cause damage when they hit shore. Think of carrying a big bowl of water, and sloshing it. The water rises most at the edges of the bowl. Same for Puget Sound. There are examples of this in Alaska, where tsunamis entered deep bays and the water sloshed well over 100 feet high. But yeah, about 5 or 10 minutes is all the warning that Puget Sound cities will get. There was one Japanese-American captured in Java with his Texas National Guard unit in '42. It wasn't until '43 when a camp guard was reading the roll call they realized they had a Son of Heaven as a POW. They tried to make him do broadcasts like Provoo and Tokyo Rode did but he refused. When the US Navy sailed into Tokyo Bay he leapt into water from Omori Camp and swam to the ships.

notsothoreau, I've seen that dam, that would take two metric craptons of explosives (at the very least) to blow; where did they figure on getting them ?

For Portland (and Seattle, and Vancouver) I'm talking the Juan de Fuca. That one is... bad. It flooded Japan in 1700, it is so bad.
Posted by: boulder t'hobo at November 05, 2019 07:33 PM (ykYG2) They called it an Orphan Tsunami since it did not come with an earthquake they could feel like normal ones. Posted by: Oldcat at November 05, 2019 08:04 PM (FTPn0) 303
289, Lurking, you need a bit better eyeglasses. Lexington is in Fayette County and is 99% in in their results. Try the NYT as it has interactives including county by county results and % polls reporting.
NYT has it still Bevin 51-47 with about 55% of the vote in. About half of Jefferson has reported. Posted by: whig at November 05, 2019 08:04 PM (MItID) 304

From a LOT of reading. But "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" and "Berlin Diary" by Shirer are indispensable.
Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at November 05, 2019 07:44 PM (5aX2M) Have you ever read Shirer's End Of A Berlin Diary? Not as good as the first, IMO, but interesting. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at November 05, 2019 08:11 PM (Ki5SV) 307
BTH the Richard Evans trilogy about Germany on the path to You Know Who is pretty good. Didn't mine his bibliographies as I generally do now, and fear I'm too lazy to go to German language sources of his. But a good overall account.
Posted by: rhomboid at November 05, 2019 07:48 PM (QDnY+) I have that. One day I should send OM a pic of the Third Reich section of my library at Stately Poppins Manor. Almost floor to ceiling. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at November 05, 2019 08:13 PM (Ki5SV) 308
