Margot Cleveland: We Have Confirmed That CIA/FBI Informant/"Consultant" Stefan Halper Planted Deep State/Coup Stories With Washington Post Stenographer David Ignatius

Brave firefighters, armed with the gasoline that arsonists provide to them and instruct them to spray and splash around.

The Federalist has learned that the now-outed CIA and FBI informant Stefan Halper served as a source for Washington Post reporter David Ignatius, providing more evidence that the intelligence community has co-opted the press to push anti-Trump conspiracy theories. In addition, an email recently obtained by The Federalist from the MI5-connected Christopher Andrew bragging that his long-time friend Ignatius has the "'inside track' on Flynn" adds further confirmation of this conclusion.

...

In last week's court filing, Powell highlighted how the CIA, FBI, Halper, and possibly James Baker used the unnamed and unaware [Deep State patsy Svetlana] Lokhova and the complicit Ignatius to destroy Flynn. This James Baker is not the one who worked under James Comey at the FBI, but a James Baker in the Department of Defense Office of National Assessment.

Powell wrote:

Stefan Halper is a known long-time operative for the CIA/FBI. He was paid exorbitant sums by the FBI/CIA/DOD through the Department of Defense Department's Office of Net Assessment in 2016. His tasks seem to have included slandering Mr. Flynn with accusations of having an affair with a young professor (a British national of Russian descent) Flynn met at an official dinner at Cambridge University when he was head of DIA in 2014. Flynn has requested the records of Col. James Baker because he was Halper's' 'handler' in the Office of Net Assessment in the Pentagon, and ONA Director Baker regularly lunched with Washington Post Reporter David Ignatius. Baker is believed to be the person who illegally leaked the transcript of Mr. Flynn's calls to Ignatius. The defense has requested the phone records of James Clapper to confirm his contacts with Washington Post reporter Ignatius--especially on January 10, 2017, when Clapper told Ignatius in words to the effect of 'take the kill shot on Flynn.' It cannot escape mention that the press has long had transcripts of the Kislyak calls that the government has denied to the defense.

Lokhova has known of Halper’s role in targeting Flynn since Halper was outed as a CIA and FBI informant in May 2018. She then sued Halper and several media outlets for defamation after they falsely repeated Halper's lies that she was a Russian spy engaged in an intrigue with Flynn.

...

"Halper had been pushing the story that I was a Russian spy and Flynn’s mistress since December of 2016," Lokhova told me. "The New York Times' Mathew Rosenberg told me a source had been circulating these stories since December 2016," Lokhova said, "but they held the story until they could find a second source and someone at the Cambridge dinner."

Also see Margot Cleveland's article stating that all the Coup Clues point back to John Brennan -- and a lot of them point to Stefan Halper as Brennan's Conspiracy Fixer.

Svetlana Lakhova believes that she -- a Russian -- was invited to a dinner at which Michael Flynn would be attending by Stefan Halper so that Halper could turn right around and accuse Flynn of consorting with Russians, leaving out the part that he invited Lakhova and in fact specifically seated her next to him.

Stefan Halper features prominently in the plot. All-but-officially outed by the government as a CIA source, the aging academic had contact with at least four members of the Trump campaign. Halper's job of connecting targets with Russians, however, dates back to January 2014, when he worked at Cambridge University alongside Sir Richard Dearlove, the former director of the British intelligence service MI6, and Christopher Andrew, the official historian for the British counterintelligence group MI5.

In January 2014, according to a lawsuit filed against Halper for defamation by the Russian-born Svetlana Lokhova, Dearlove and Andrew invited her to attend a group dinner with U.S. Gen. Michael Flynn. At the time, Flynn served as Barack Obama’s director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

The dinner went forward as planned on February 28, 2014, with Halper, Dearlove, and Andrew all in attendance, alongside Flynn and Lokhova and several others from the Cambridge community. After dinner, according to Lokhova's complaint, "Andrew invited Lokhova to address General Flynn," and they had a brief public exchange about her academic research on Russia. Then, as laid out in her lawsuit, after "General Flynn informally became an advisor to the Trump presidential campaign, ... Halper came back into the picture," with Andrew inviting Lokhova and Halper to join him for dinner at his house.

While the 2014 dinner went unnoticed at the time and seemed of no concern to the Obama administration, after the Russia collusion narrative gained steam, the media reported that "US intelligence officials had serious concerns about Michael Flynn’s appointment as the White House national security adviser because of his history of contacts with Moscow and his encounter with a woman who had trusted access to Russian spy agency records." Other outlets made clear the then-unidentified woman was Lokhova.

So, had Halper and his British intelligence counterparts arranged Flynn's incidental meeting with the Russian-born Lokhova and then reported that contact to the FBI to later justify spying on Flynn?

Stefan Halper has long been known to have received "excessive" payments from the US government, for unknown reasons.

This information was outed by an actual whistleblower -- who was then punished by the government.

The professor who reportedly assisted the FBI's Russia probe as a confidential source is at the center of a Defense Department whisteblower complaint that alleges government contractor abuses, as well as excessive payments with taxpayer dollars, according to interviews and documents reviewed by Fox News.

The complaint was filed by attorney Sean Bigley on behalf of Pentagon lawyer Adam Lovinger. Earlier this month, conservative watchdog Judicial Watch announced it was suing the Defense Department on behalf of Lovinger to force the release of emails and other electronic messages after Lovinger had his security clearance suspended.

"[The complaint] pertained to the misuse of contractors by the Department of Defense, specifically what he perceived as the use of contractors to conduct foreign relations in violation of U.S. law, as well as … gross waste and excessive expenditures that were being lavished on these contractors to do very little work," Bigley said.

Bigley, who is representing Lovinger pro bono, said his client flagged the concerns about contractors -- including Stefan Halper, the professor -- as early as 2016, to Lovinger's leadership at the Office of Net Assessment (ONA), which is like an internal Pentagon think tank. He said Lovinger was specifically concerned Halper was being used by the ONA to "conduct foreign relations in violation of U.S. law -- specifically he was being sent out unsupervised around the globe to meet with foreign diplomats and report back" his findings.

Remember all the media and NeverTrump screaming about protecting this poor brave whistleblower back in 2018...?

Yeah, me neither. The True Conservative League completely ignored and in fact embargoed this story.

Because #MuhPrinciples.

Actually, this has been going on since forever. In fact I once read that the CIA had a term for their ability to easily plant stories in the media -- "The Mighty Wurlitzer." I.e. if the wanted to start a meme or a "news cycle" or a conspiracy theory or just get everyone taliing about soemthing, all they had to do was crank up "the Mighty Wurlitzer" by feeding stories to corrupt "journalists" who would place them in major MSM outlets and set the news tone for the nation.

All this was described in detail back in the 1970s, and probably dates a lot further back than that.

The only difference now is that in the old days the Mighty Wurlitzer was used in service of helping the West in the Cold War, but now instead is had degenerated to serving the Deep State itself.

We can get them to self-identify.

Trump simply declares a blanket pardon on anyone who takes out a Deep State member who had a role in the recent coup d'etat attempt.

Then monitor all airports and other ports of entry to see what Deep State members scurry OCONUS.

You then have those who are guilty.

there are So many problems with this "deposition" that was not tested (I'm pretty sure) by any cross examination, Including that the references to "corruption" in Ukraine are extremely general or at most specific talk about Burisma; there is no testimony that Trump wanted Ukraine to "make up" or "dig up" dirt on Joe Biden.

- the president doesn't call a national, prime-time broadcast to point this out;

- Steiner holds off on issuing a report of any kind and refuses to hold anyone accountable until November 20, 2025. . .

In the 2015 paper titled, "The Russia-China relationship: The Impact on the United States' Security Interests," Halper listed more than three dozen sources, including General V.I Trubnikov, a former head of Russian intelligence, as well as former CIA Director Michael Hayden.

I'm sure those papers were instrumental in securing the United States interests against those two foreign powers. And for the low, low, low cost of a measly 600k.

296 Julian Castro is even more unpopular in Texas than Beto is now.

Texas Monthly, a pretty liberal magazine, published a nice epitaph on Beto's campaign, noting that he had destroyed his ability to ever run for office in Texas again. They had what I thought was a good take on how he went so wrong - first, he never realized that during his Senate run, he was totally a media creation, with fawning adulation. And that was all "look at young, hip, Moderate Beto, who is Friendly and Cool, compared to that nasty mean old Ted Cruz!!!"

Beto thought it was all about him and how great he was, but it was just marketing. So he went national thinking it would happen again, but here came Butttigieg, and he was the same as Beto but a point higher on the Victimology pyramid, so all of the media support dumped Beto and moved to the new exciting Gay Guy, who was otherwise the same.

This is where Beto should have started to try and develop his own political voice, but he panicked and decided he REALLY needed to go Total Woke to get the magic back. And that's when he started to talk about confiscating guns, and penalizing churches. His plan not only failed miserably, it was so badly thought out that it destroyed his chance to ever run for any public office again. Bye Bye Beto!!!

Of course, FusionGPS is hiring spooks - it's not really some private source of oppo research...that's always been clear they've been connected to the IC community...but what needs to be done here is connect them to their work with foreign governments on a FARA violation or other intelligence investigation that has criminal elements in it - anything to dismantle them - asap.

I hate to nitpick, but your death was as timely as they come.

307 Fusion GPS is a front - used by IC agents and others to control political factions - in the US and in Europe - it spreads oppo research directed by spooks and ex-spooks - and it uses its corrupt media connections both here and in the UK to get stories out and drive political narratives.

The US needs to find a way to dissolve Fusion GPS now - as soon as it can, otherwise it will continue to sow misinformation and other IC ops in the US and elsewhere.

308 Heads need to fucking roll. Where is the DOJ and AG in all of this? Is there so much corruption they probably don't have enought lawyers and investigators?

Trump promised to drain the swamp. Had no idea it was so blatant and so pervasive. The people demand justice. Hillary, Comey, Biden, Obama, Clapper and especially Brennan all need to go to Gitmo. Let's hope by his second term, if not sooner, we start seeing perp walks.

We really need to get together for that beer. I would love to hear details.

And look at the bright side, the way the Huskies are playing this year, the Cougar Apple Cup drought is looking to end in 4 weeks.

Double or nothing on the AC, Diogenes?

I haven't notified nurse, but I am sure she wants in on the action, too.

The only bet I am willing to make is that I will drink a lot during the Apple Cup. Obligatory "Go Dawgs." But JFC.

If you're in SW Wash, I'd at least buy a round.

310 259 If the US IC is this incompetent, are they any better in doing the job they're supposed to be doing against foreign enemies?

313 Lokhova says Halper invited her to these dinners. What is her evidence? Did he invite her by e-mail? If so, publish the e-mails. Was it by phone? How did he get her phone number? Does her phone have a record of receiving a call from Halper's phone?
