I just think it's a nice photograph, and she's wearing a pretty dress. For the 'Ettes: Photo 2 Photo 3 Photo 4 Monday's Celebs: I forgot that Gene Barry was Dr. Clayton Forrester in 1953's War of the Worlds, a movie which holds up surprisingly well, all things considered. But he also did a ton of TV (Burke's Laew, The Name of the Game) as well as the short-lived series Bat Masterson, along with Allison Hayes, woh had a recurring role. She was also in the classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, so I guess another connection you could say between these celebs is that each starred in classic science fiction movies. Ms. Hayes died in 1977, a week before her 47th birthday. According to her wiki page, her life was cut short from lead poisoning caused by the calcium supplements she was taking and also leukemia. I'm not super familiar with Andy Garcia's movies, so I don't know where he intersected with La Keaton. My first glimpse of her was on Johnny Carson in the early '70s, laughing and being charming, and I had no idea who she was. I saw her on a Cannon or a Barnaby Jones from about 1974 the other night, just before Goodbar and Annie Hall really put her on the map. The Dept. of Justice-Prevention has just admitted they switched Strozk's 302 report with the other agent's report in the Flynn Railroad.
Page and Strozk re-wrote his report until it was essentially a forgery. The prosecutors then switched them because Strozk was discredited. The DOJ demanded Flynn plead guilty or have his son charged, too, by the close of business--on the very night before Page and Strozk were to be outed and fired from the Mueller Frame-up. This was known only to the Dirty Prosecutors. This is beyond dirty. It is tyranny. And it is what they want to do to 63 million Trump voters, not just General Flynn and the President. Godfather III is like the Star Wars prequels in the sense that it's not that good, but I'll still watch it when it's on.
Overall it was just a really unnecessary movie. Part II perfectly completed Michael's character arc. It's the arc of a good man becoming evil, culminating in killing his own brother. Overall it was just a really unnecessary movie. Part II perfectly completed Michael's character arc. It's the arc of a good man becoming evil, culminating in killing his own brother. Interestingly enough, they originally wanted Wynona for the part.
Yeah, as I mentioned yesterday - this quote from Nichols' fatboy tantrum: "The bright spot here is that this is not 'Civil War 2.0' or a fascist movement. That would require commitment and bravery from the Trumpist inner circle. They are led by a cowardly man and they are cowards themselves. The rank and file are groupies, not activists. There is no mass movement party here, no hard central corps of true believers who will advance the cause, because there is no 'cause.' Trumpism is about people who watch too much TV." This idiot and the others like him in the fake-elite caste bubble critically misapprehend the nature of their opposition, because most of them have never met them and the ones who have (like Exoplanet Williamson) despise and avoid them. There is no such thing as Trumpism, because he's an avatar for for a pre-existing mass movement waiting for one. There is no "hard central corps [sic]" because it's a spontaneous mass movement, dumbass. It's half the damn country. We're not motivated by Trump. We're motivated by YOU, Tom. Then, right as the movie ends, Prohibition is repealed and Ness cheekily says that he's going out for a drink. There seems to be an unclear line between the evils of alcohol and the evils of Al Capone that the movie never really clears up, so when Ness shrugs off the moralistic cause he's held up for years because the law has been changed, it seems to be placing all moral authority in the state. 138 In Kentucky 20,000 more people voted for Governor than they did for Attorney General, both statewide races. Seems odd.
Someone did say there were unusual gains in Fayette County (Lexington) for just governor, but 20,000 out of 1.4 million votes cast doesn't seem too unusual for the top of the ticket. Plausible, within the margin of fraud. Two major items to ponder about the KY gov race. The margin of so-called Democrat victory was about 1,000 votes. Less than 1% so the Republican did not get the required 5% vote fraud margin and according to the reports that was wide spread. I watched the Diane Keaton movie the other day...Baby Boom. When it came out in the 80s I liked it. Now it just pisses me off.
She is a high powered career woman who makes crap tons of money at a NY advertising job, gets handed an icky baby through odd circumstances, tries to offload said baby, changes her mind and decides to keep said baby while getting porked over for a promotion by her younger, male assistant. Decides to sell everything, take the baby, and move by herself to a 200 acre farm in VT in the middle of winter. Has zero self awareness as to country life, home ownership, or single motherhood, (or motherhood at all for that matter), and hilarity ensues!! Well, if you think hilarity is her insulting every VT person she encounters, including the incredibly handsome veterinarian Sam Shepherd. Who for some reason, tolerates her asinine elitism and makes several plays for her. Inexplicably, I think. So, again inexplicably, in the middle of abject failure as a country woman, she makes it really, really big making and selling her own baby food, allowing her to return triumphantly not six months later to NY to stick it to the man!! And she does!! The end. Ugh. Posted by: squeakywheel at November 06, 2019 11:47 AM (U2rfV) 264

First you complain about "buddy" being masculine and thus is unacceptable as a neutral term and make them spend money to change their sign. Then you complain about using "they/them" because it can be seen as insulting to bigger people by implying that they are actually two people so they need to change it again. Then you never go back.
Syndicated radio hosts Walton and Johnson (actually
Webster and Johnson now that John Walton has passed away) said there was something like 116% turnout in at least one district voting for Houston mayor yesterday. Hmmm . . . Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at November 06, 2019 11:38 AM (Ejm1K) I was an Election Clerk yesterday in Harris County. On the E-poll book i-pads there is a new email function. We received 4 emails during the day from the County Clerk's voting office. One email was an admonishment to keep the E-poll book i-pads connected to the JBC machine when checking in voters. The JBC is the 'brain' of the e-slates and it (JBC) is the vote recorder. One could disconnect the JBCs from the E-poll books and enter votes willy-nilly. This would result in more votes cast and recorded than voters checked in to the poll book. Once we realized the implication of that email, we knew it was bad news. Very bad news. Why send out something like that in a blast email unless it was happening in several polling locations. Posted by: Count de Monet at November 06, 2019 11:51 AM (q1Pj5) 296
I won't lie, Bevin's loss hurt.
I think Trump is the only reason it was competitive at all for him. If KY Republicans across the state had done poorly, I could maybe see that, but the GOP there now has a super majority. Statewide Republicans did REALLY well. It hurts though because the teacher's union got a scalp. Even in a really red state, the public seems ready for a pension bailout. For people who work 8 months a year and leave at 3pm. That's what this was all about. My mom was a teacher, I still have a very dim view of teachers. I will say, some of the quotes from Bevin, did he want to lose? It was just so jaw dropping stupid. Politician isn't an attitude, its a job. I think the film need not get into the morality of the situation because everyone knows going in that Capone and his gangsters were the bad guys. Yeah, and they did show Capone's brutal evil several times. Unlike, say, Lord of War with Nicholas Cage in one of his better serious roles. He's a gun runner. We're supposed to think he's a terrible person, but at no point in the entire overly long film is he shown to be a bad person. They don't even show that gun running is bad, just banned by governments. WHY is it terrible? They spent lots of time on how his wife turned on him for being a gun runner, but no time on explaining why that's so bad. Capone would have been a menace regardless of prohibition. It's something that a lot of folks don't get about outlaws - they like being bad. Legalize every drug known to man tomorrow, the gangsters in the hood aren't going to join the local Boys and Girls Club and mentor troubled youth. Yeah, that's the source. Hence, the quality of thought and argument they offer. Was Ness going after Capone because he was a bad man or because he was selling booze? He was going after Capone because he sold booze. Historically? No. Lots and lots of people were selling booze, some of them pretty high profile gangsters. The Purple Gang was around at about the same time but nobody sent the feds after them. Capone was selling booze AND mocking the authorities AND having running gun battles in the streets AND having judges and politicians assassinated AND blowing up competitor's buildings, etc. He had to be stopped, and the feds stepped in using booze as the excuse for them to be involved. From Wikipedia on Capone:
"An establishment that refused to purchase liquor from him often got blown up, and as many as 100 people were killed in such bombings during the 1920s. Rivals saw Capone as responsible for the proliferation of brothels in the city." The idea that they only went after Capone because of Prohibition is pretty ahistorical. "yield my will to God's will, my agenda to God's agenda for me"
JC certainly prayed "not my will but thine be done" when he was discussing the suffering and sacrificial lamb thing, regarding his unique son of God role as our Redeemer. But for the rest of us less perfect humans, imo, it is more about recognizing a higher calling, a more than conqueror life. Since I'm just 7 weeks into keto and some fasting, I think of it as the awareness that keto/fasting is better for my health than the junk food. Also, achieving ketosis means I can better burn fat whether from diet or from stored body fat. And some fasting can lead to autophagy (healing) and a clear mind, "insulin resistance" can be defeated. My choice is long term health via a little discipline, not instant gratification in submission to an unhealthy addiction. The higher calling is not a calling to suffer ... JC paid the suffering price on our behalf. By our own will, recognizing a higher calling, we make the wise choice to follow God. We don't "surrender our will", we just deny old man cravings (junk food) and follow the more "glorious" path of the abundant life. The fat head path (NeverTrumper path) is to seek earthly rewards (paycheck conservatives, conservative Inc.). The heavenly Father is wiser, so we seek enlightenment by following that path, revealed in "The Written Word", or perhaps via "the eyes of our understanding being enlightened". Perhaps it is just another way of saying the same thing, but I think most parents understand, they prefer their children think for themselves and make wise adult choices. As mature adults we don't keep crying for ice cream for dinner every night ... we gladly choose the better path. We mature. to me that is a major difference from "I want to do this, but gosh darn it, I have to suffer and do what God wants instead". just rhetoric maybe ... but junk food is the way of death, keto/fasting is the way of life. (inserting keto in there, assuming it is the dietary "right path" ha) Posted by: illiniwek at November 06, 2019 12:14 PM (Cus5s) 377

I'm not loyal to any politician, and whatever he was to begin with, he's a politician now. I like a lot of what he's doing, and I'll support him for president again unless something significant changes, but that's as far as it goes for me. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor ___________ Not me. Trump has taken non-stop shit, on a level of viciousness that we have never seen before, since he started running, and all because he said things like we should enforce our immigration laws and secure our borders, and that the American government should put the interests of American citizens first. Those types of common-sense sentiments didn't use to be controversial, but now they're incontrovertible evidence that you're a raaaaaaacist, xenophobic, islamophobic, transphobic, whatever-phobic hater of the highest order, and don't deserve to live. The left has done everything in its power, much of it both illegal and unethical, to try and destroy Trump and his family, but Trump is still standing, and still refusing to back down. He didn't have to take this burden on. He was already rich, already famous, already powerful. He was at an age where he could have just retired and taken it easy and played with his grandkids, but he didn't. Instead, he worked like a demon, knowing full well the kind of abuse he was in for, and he never stopped. And he did it because he loves this country and wants to do whatever he can to halt its destruction. He has my respect, and my gratitude. And yes, my loyalty.
