Sweden's leading terror researcher Magnus Ranstorp of the National Defence College called to expel the imams, as previously ordered. According to him, their release will affect Sweden's security for years to come. “Now their halos have been further refined in their environment", Ranstorp said. Liberal-conservative Moderate Party leader Ulf Kristersson called the development “a catastrophe” and blamed it on Stefan Löfven's government. The number of Muslims in Sweden has been estimated at 800,000, or 8 percent of the country's population of about 10 million. A recent count by the Institute for Future Studies numbered 785 Islamic extremists in Sweden, which previously emerged as one of the biggest "jihadist exporters" per capita, providing around 300 "foreign fighters" to the Middle East. As an older brother the Bible story of Cain vs. Abel always fascinated me
Was reading an article earlier (because nobody gave me projects @work) about internal correlations in the Bible. Deborah is a lot like Moses, it argued. Both stories feature ancient Hebrew songs that are VERY ancient. It also argued that the Ehud story had a lot in common with the Joab story later on. Stabbing the enemy in the gut. I suppose the Ehud story came from an old Hebrew oral tradition, now lost, and that whoever-it-was who put the prose version in Judges, was the same guy who recorded the Joab story in Samuel. In a hour, we will have a mass IQ test for a portion of Seattle.
Kshama Sawant, a Seattle city council member, is up for reelection. She is a member of Socialist Alternative, a Trotskyite political party. It was revealed a while ago that Sawant doesn't actually make any of her own staffing or policy decisions - like a good Leninist organization, all those decisions are made by the anyonomous Central Committee of Socialist Alternative (headquartered in New York). It is generally assumed that Sawant is on the Central Committee, but there is no proof of that. We'll see if Seattleites are happy with city policy partially being set by a number of Trotskyite New Yorkers. Posted by: The ARC of History! at November 05, 2019 10:22 PM (I2/tG) 104

Apropos of nothing. The new issue of Fly Tyer magazine, Winter 2019, arrived today. Usually I wouldn't mention that except this time the top of the cover said "Tucker Carlson ties great flies (really!)"
That's right. Tucker Carlson, Fox News and terror of libtards everywhere, is an enthusiastic and accomplished fly tyer and fly fisherman. It's a four page article about how he got interested in the hobby, his preference in styles and materials, and why they've worked so well. (Turns out he has old fashioned taste in flies including some classic patterns.) Mentioned but not dealt with is he also enjoys woodworking. It's an unexpected but pleasant insight into someone we know in one dimension. Posted by: JTB at November 05, 2019 10:25 PM (bmdz3) 116

I feel sorry for those two Great Danes. They were rescued by a well-meaning but alcoholic/drug-taking woman and her husband who resides at least part of the time in prison. He referred to one of the dogs as "vicious", and wanted to get rid of them but his wife "loves animals".
No way did the rescue dogs have the proper care and attention they needed. The husband may have abused them. The dogs had no choice, they were stuck. How were these people able to adopt these dogs anyway? The story doesn't say but I assume the dogs will be destroyed. Just a horrible story all around. Having one of those nights tonight... anyone else ever have one like this: you're in the mood to fix yourself something pretty good (like Caroll Shelby chili), but you find out as soon as you get home that a loved one whom you live with has already decided to start fixing something healthy (i.e., chicken and veggies) for dinner?
Posted by: qdpsteve at November 05, 2019 10:31 PM I live with a sadist who says things in the morning like, "Let's make (something yummy with my favorite, beef) for dinner." I get in the mood, look forward to it, then in the afternoon I get, "Nah, I don't really want beef. Let's just eat from the pantry tonight, go meatless." Not only do I not get beef, I get something totally boring from the back of the cabinet. Posted by: JuJuBee, just generally being shamey at November 05, 2019 10:40 PM (COzlW) 197

Posted by: ... at November 05, 2019 10:40 PM (xxzQd) It's possible. From what I recall, when people tried to ask him what had got him so het up he replied something to the effect 'that asshole knows what he said, I am not going to repeat it.' It was as if it was as clear as day to him. The internet strips context from the remarks we make, but at the same time, we impose our own context on it ourselves. So two people may read the same sentence and get a completely different read- while the original guy may have meant something entirely different when he made the comment. someone recently mentioned dna/blood tests that can tell you which foods to avoid. It is probably bunk but if it were real, it would be pretty cool. I think a lot of people, including myself focus on diet regimens that might not even be the way to go. It is a crap shoot. It would be cool if there was scientific proof on what you should do to lose weight and get healthy.
For example. I don't find the intermittent fasting thing to work for me. Sure, at some point not eating should "work" but I don't think an 8 hour eating window is the cure all, at least it hasn't been that way for me. Low carb works for a lot of people no doubt. But huge areas of the globe have a lot of carb eaters that are pretty thin compared to modern Americans. It would be very cool if there was a way to truly find what is holding a person back specifically. Posted by: Quint at November 05, 2019 10:44 PM (n13/j) 233

in a previous thread there was discussion of why the fbi went after flynn, including that he disagreed with obama foreign policy. that may have been the initial impetus to target him. but james gagliano, a former fbi agent and defender of comey's fbi's conduct has concluded they were completely corrupt. in an essay in the washington examiner (via instapundit) he asserts that strozk, page, comey, etc. manipulated the 302 report in order to put pressure on flynn to flip and provide evidence of trump/russia collusion, that it was part of the effort to get trump, after all. makes sense.

someone recently mentioned dna/blood tests that can tell you which foods to avoid. It is probably bunk but if it were real, it would be pretty cool. I think a lot of people, including myself focus on diet regimens that might not even be the way to go. It is a crap shoot. It would be cool if there was scientific proof on what you should do to lose weight and get healthy.

I once owned a copy of the Prudhomme Family cookbook. That's the family of Cajun chef Paul Prudhomme. Paul and his zillion brothers and sisters grew up dirt poor on a farm during the Depression eating their mom's traditional Cajun cooking. The family photos from the Depression showed a pretty lean bunch. Fast forward to the '80's ( when the book was published) and none of the Prudhommes were farming anymore but they were still eating that traditional Cajun cooking. I don't think any of them were under 250 lbs and most looked considerably heavier.
The current family photos sort of deterred me from trying the recipes, although the food sounded delicious. Some of the recipes were just kinda tough for a city girl to make - like a gumbo that included squirrel and turtle soup. Posted by: Donna&&&&V. at November 05, 2019 11:04 PM (d6Ksn) 315

I knew a dude that would go 0 to 1,000mph at the stupidest shit. Nicest guy
you would ever want to know, 99% of the time. I mean a truly nice and caring guy. Like a real humanitarian type. And funny too. Great sense of humor. Would joke about anything. But then you would say something totally benign to him and he would flip the shit out. It was actually pretty fucking scary. I mean like probably borderline personality - Fatal Attraction scary. Like just be glad you didn't say it while he had a knife in his hand. So there we were, early 90's at a fast food place digging on some nice french fries and I told him that I'd read that McDonald's french fries, although delicious, weren't even cut from potatoes, that they were made from a potato starchy powder. This was kind of "common knowledge" at the time (incidentally most likely being spread by the same commie anti-capitalist shitstains that seem to have lurked (swidt?) in our midst forever). But I digress. So he said they were made from potatoes. I told him I'd read an article that they weren't. We went back and forth a little, not even close to heated or any more than conversational... but I was just standing my ground that I'd read it. I wasn't even saying it was true. Dude fucking FLIPPED OUT. Totally lost his shit. In public. Face went purple telling me never to tell him what McDonald's french fries were made of. That his dad worked for McDonald's corporation and he had inside knowledge that they were in fact real potatoes. I mean every shade of purple and red you can imagine in an otherwise physically healthy face. I didn't think teeth could be clenched together any tighter. He was like a ventriloquist because I could understand every word through the teeth. Every syllable clear as a bell, like Jeff Dunham level, but I swear I thought he was gonna squeeze his own teeth out. Funniest thing about it now is the dude was right. McDonalds fries really are cut from potatoes. But you know what? When he was in the middle of it and his face was frozen in electro-lightning anger, I believed him. Held my hands up and told him he was right and that I would never again tell anyone I'd read that McDonald's french fries weren't cut from potatoes. I got it. Honestly in that moment I would have told him he was the Queen of Fucking England if it would have calmed his insane fucking crazy bitch ass down.
Posted by: Donna&&&&V. at November 05, 2019 11:04 PM (d6Ksn) If they have family photos from the depression they were in no means dirt poor. I believe Mcdonalds has a youtube video where they go to great lengths to show that their fries come from potatoes. The one that doesn't seem to die is the idea that the burgers are not real meat because once cooked to death, and placed in a non humid area, they don't grow moldy and full of bugs. It as if people have never heard of beef jerky.
I never got into the urban legend thing. Lots of people get into those things. They say the key is the bigger the corporation, the more people will believe it is sinister in some way. The urban legend that always flumoxed me was the one about dipping tobacco having fiberglass in it so you would absorb the nicotine and get addicted. Makes sense until you realize skin is porous and they don't need to cut you with glass to give you a buzz. Another one that amused me was one that went around like crazy in emails in the early 2000s. THat was the one about the origin of the word "shit". They said it was from merchant ships that would keep manure transports (lol) high on the ship so they would not get wet and stink up the place. The word SHIT came from the order to "Ship High in Transit". that is a clever urban myth right there. Too bad the tern shit goes back must longer than that era and did not originate in modern English. Posted by: Quint at November 05, 2019 11:23 PM (n13/j) 365

I remember an article about this stupidity. Some dumb teacher had a McDonald's burger and a homemade burger in the same envirionment. The homemade burger was molding, and the McD's burger wasn't. The article set out to prove the bullshit, by making a homemade burger the same size as the McD's burger. And guess what, it didn't mold either due to it being so thin and causing so much of the moisture to be cooked out of it. Posted by: buzzion at November 05, 2019 11:28 PM (Z7lwY) 383

I heard a joke today:
Satan visited a struggling writer and offered him that he would become the greatest writer in the world, his words would be quoted for ages, his books would always sell out, and he would be remembered long after everyone he knew had been buried and forgotten. The catch was, Satan said, was that all the writer's family, his wife, parents, children, cousins, siblings, all, would have to die. Satan then gave him a day to consider the offer and left. The writer sat at his desk long into the night thinking, "wait, this is Satan, there has to be a catch here, somewhere!" Posted by: Kindltot at November 05, 2019 11:52 PM (1glZx) 455

We live in our RV and typically spend the winter in the Southwest: Arizona or Texas for a couple of months. The RV community is pretty tight and we all heard last week that a couple from NH that was wintering in Corpus Christi were killed and their RV stolen, later found in Mexico. The law enforcement community is trying to keep the snowbirds calm by saying they can't figure out how this could happen and not to rush to judgment. They are trying to keep their snowbird community from going somewhere else. Usually, there are quite a few gun owners in an RV park, so this is a rare thing. But I think this is a wake up for all of us. We think that because we live in a house on wheels, that none of the bs in the cities will touch us. But with Mexico being out of control and the dems stirring up the crazy everyone will be touched by this sooner or later.

But beachside, in the dunes at Padre Island, they're kind of out of the Mutual Support System, so to speak. Guar-an-damn-tee-ya, their killers came across as friendly, cool dudes. Until they weren't. Pity the loss of those New Hampshire RV'ers. They seemed to be really great people, as most RV'ers are. Same with most touring motorcylists, too. Moral of the story. Fk the local laws. Carry at all times, and don't worry about it. "Concealed means CONCEALED", and no one need know unless it's the bad guy you've got to stop, and stop RIGHT NOW. Like everyone, trust no one. Identity, background, partisan affiliation, favorite color of all these pathetic losers is, of course and obviously, totally irrelevant. All that matters are the facts, and those are "meh", or maybe, to borrow a description, "perfect". York has written some idiotic crap about how the ID of the WB matters because it must guide our views of the substance. WTFFF? Absurd. Obviously. Our analysis of the substance, as in all cases, needs to be based on logic, history, knowledge/understanding of the topic, etc. NOT the perspective of the WB * this term, too, is stupid and illogical - all that matters are the factual and logical foundations of what anybody argues Posted by: rhomboid at November 06, 2019 12:16 AM (QDnY+) 490

A little tidbit for anyone still reading who was following the gubernatorial races - everyone here in Mississippi pretty much anticipated a Tate Reeves victory, and no big surprise there, but there was a bit of, well, oddness at Jim Hood's rally roughly about thirty minutes before he conceded. In front of multiple local network news cameras and a crowd of several hundred witnesses, a young man sucker-punched Hood and was hauled away screaming "I told you so!"
Completely weird, and it's not even clear that the assailant was taken into custody. No idea on the motives, and the fellow seemed to be drunk. Took everyone by surprise, since, if you look at Mississippi's history, it's normally the First Lady that attacks the governor (or in this case, the would-be governor). Posted by: A. Flynn case has achieved true comedy status - I wonder if Powell knew just how ridiculously fraudulent and clumsy the whole thing was? It seems her strategery has been not just to get case dismissed, but to use it as a pry-bar to help open up the entire fetid carcass that was the top level FBI and DOJ.
At this point it becomes a decision for the prosecution - drop the case and hope [against hope, and the odds] that the outlandish misconduct will be forgotten or at least not pursued, or hope that the judge dismisses the case without pursuing the criminal clownshow in the govt.? A wag on the twatters: "If Kurds are ever killed in Mexico Lindsay Graham is going to be very upset about that."
There are amusing videos of Kurds in Syria throwing rocks at Russian and Turkish military vehicles. Just like they did at departing American vehicles 2 weeks back. It's almost like they're difficult to deal with. Fortunately they mostly throw like girls, so no biggie. And Iraqi Kurdish leadership's lashing them pretty good about their behavior. Don't tell anyone on the Hill. Might confuse them. Posted by: rhomboid at November 06, 2019 01:40 AM (QDnY+) 548

So, I drove the new-to-me '96 Suburban the 80-odd miles into Calgary and back today, to attend a meeting. Roads were shitty, with snow on the ground, and blowing snow. The old 'burb never missed a beat, smooth and quiet, other than some wind noise around the door seals. The 4X4 worked fine, when it was called upon, too, and the heater puts out good. This was its first outing, other than trips in the local area. I am pleased with it.

Jean, unlike lots of people here, I don't know what Barr wants.
Note I did say "against hope, and the odds". But there's a wee problem. It's been a factor all along. The whole edifice is in peril. Wray [who's a lousy choice anyway] is utterly driven by this - he knows the Bureau could face a much, much worse aftermath than the IC after the Church hearings. Barr also knows he's got a very tainted tiger he's riding. Kind of an odd story about Kansas City taking down Martin Luther King's name off a street.
If you read the headlines written, it seems like a rejection of King (when I read the headlines, I wondered if the rejection or memory-holing of King was that far along.) However, reading the story, evidently the city council renamed a street (The Paseo) only recently with King's name and a lot of resident's are upset because it was a 'historic' named street. Huh, seems more like a case of city council tyrants imposing their opinion on the city, rather than the city deciding for itself what the hell they want to call their streets. 103 In a hour, we will have a mass IQ test for a portion of Seattle.
Posted by: The ARC of History! at November 05, 2019 10:22 PM (I2/tG) It looks like *gasp* the city of Seattle's District 3 are going to make Ark happy. From the Seattle Times election coverage: Two of three incumbent Seattle City Council members were positioned to win reelection to their district seats in Tuesday night results, but socialist Kshama Sawant was trailing in her race against a business-backed challenger. Lisa Herbold was ahead with 51% against Phillip Tavel and Debora Juarez was up with 57% against Ann Davison Sattler, while Sawant was behind with 46% against Egan Orion. Many more ballots will be counted in coming days and more progressive candidates tend to gain ground as additional votes are tallied, so Sawant may be able to close the gap in her contest. But not for this New Jersey kindergartner. The kid went down a slide that at Griebling School in Howell Township, New Jersey in October 2014 that was'too steep,' got a little bit hurt, and won nearly two hundred grand in damages. All this because, apparently, the slide was 5 degrees steeper than federal rules permit. (This slide was 35 degrees instead of the permitted 30 degrees.) This kind of shit is why almost no public school has playground equipment anymore. If it was up to me I would outlaw all tort law in the US except in the case of a written contract. From American Thinker. https://preview.tinyurl.com/y5wrj8fb
African slavery reexamined by a Senegalese academic By Alain Arbez The West is responsible for black slavery! It is not only the Muslim suburbs that affirm this, the media are widely reporting this politically correct contention. Madame Taubira, the black justice minister of France, even added her personal touch when she said: "It is not necessary to mention the Arab-Muslim slave trade too much so that young Arabs do not have to carry all the weight of the crimes perpetuated by the Arabs." But now the work of Mr Tidiane N'Diaye, a black Muslim anthropologist and specialist in African civilizations, has seriously challenged this dogma. A few years ago, he published "The Veiled Genocide", a reflection on the deliberately hidden aspect of Arab-Muslim slavery, from Mohamed to the present day, that absolutely should be read. --SNIP-- While the slave trade perpetrated by Westerners over two and a half centuries may have been an attack on human dignity that was widely denounced and commemorated, it is useful to demonstrate historically the Islamic origin of the slave trade in question. And let us not lose sight of the fact that the enslavement of blacks dates back 10 centuries to the arrival of the conquerors of Allah in Africa. Thus, in 652, the warlord Abdullah ben Said imposed on the Sudanese an agreement for the permanent delivery of slaves, which has grown over the centuries. As a result, Mr. N'Diaye believes in his highly documented study that the entire slave trade conducted by Arabs in Africa (some 20 million victims), with the active complicity of local rulers, has constituted a human hemorrhage infinitely more devastating than the slave trade of Westerners alone over a more limited time. --SNIP-- This book is an essential contribution in the fight against the usual denial of slavery linked to jihad, and this exhaustive study by a Muslim researcher provides the additional information needed to challenge the condemnation that still focuses solely on the Western slave trade, a frequent argument of anti-white racism cultivated by certain circles. It is nevertheless interesting to remember in this regard that it was the Westerners who put an end to slavery in Africa in the 19th century, through their presence and their reference to humanism from the Judeo-Christian Scriptures. Many years ago at University we studied all this stuff. I was profoundly frightened. The Frankfurt School and all the "Institute For Social Research" really opened my eyes.
They really amped it up in the last 20 years. It's been the driving force to turn America communist or globalist or whatever. "The worse, the better". That's what everything we see today is about. Destroy the family, the institutions, bankrupt the treasury, get everyone fighting amongst themselves. Nothing but misery and destruction along the way. It actually deals with the FHA and the Civil Rights act, but it allows the cities to sue the banks under the color of these laws when non-white residents are foreclosed on by the bank and it causes financial harm to the city by some magic token.

OK, the local school bond passed by 305 votes, at over a $1,000 a year more from me. The last two, bigger, school bond issues failed due to good leadership. And I helped to kill the extortion. The increase in sales tax for Manhattan failed. And one good guy got in, with two lunkheads on the City Commission. Posted by: NaCly Dog at November 06, 2019 06:12 AM (u82oZ) The last school bond issue we had was defeated at the Nov election by a 2/3 majority. So the criminal school board held another bond election in Feb with no county-wide notice. They gave all county employees the day off to vote. It passed with a 60 vote total in a county with 70,000 people. School bond are supposed to be spent on nothing but capitol projects since they are supposed to be a temporary tax. the excuse they gave for the bond issue was to expand the local elementary school building in the school near me to get rid of temporary classrooms in "trailers". Well, the trailers are back, the money is gone, and the temporary tax will never expire. It is one of the reasons my sales tax is 10.5%. Posted by: Vic at November 06, 2019 06:22 AM (mpXpK) 716

Thanks, Vic. It's still murky. I wonder if this is tied to all those shaky loans banks made several years back. Banks don't get off scot-free, AFAIAC. Posted by: creeper at November 06, 2019 06:16 AM (gIa2V) they were forced by Obama to make those loans because of the so-called "red-lining" BS. When a leftist that you know gets robbed/mugged/ their house broken into, and they are upset about it... Mention that they helped to cause their own suffering by electing the folks that set the career criminals back out into the wild, to prey on them. I sat at a meeting, and watched a Baltimore City Police Lieutenant tell over 125 people basically that exact thing. And the looks on their faces was a delight to see.
