Trump has that NY talent at getting under an opponents skin just to piss them off and make them do stupid things. Half his tweets are snark intended to make people react.

I remember the old old Spy magazine was obsessed with him, and he would call their reporters to egg them on. I think back then it was just for free publicity (which really worked out well for him,) but now it is to get the dems to do stupid things (same with little kim and other opponents.)

To this I am going to say eh - I think it follows the form that the House rules require.

It was a House resolution authorizing the proceedings and assigning to committee.

It may outline rules that are unfair, but it at least outlines rules, and it was voted on by the full House and it passed.

It was a resolution authorizing impeachment proceedings.

Abuse of power is likely the wording they will use.

The bill of impeachment is determined by the committee. They create the bill and vote it out to the House, which then passes - or doesn't - a resolution that adopts the bill, and that is impeachment.

In this case, the resolution assigns the investigation of the President to the House Intel Committee - Schiff's joint. Then the results of that investigation are to be turned over to Judiciary - Nadler's committee.

Judiciary will craft the bill of impeachment and vote it out to the House. The House votes on each article.

So likely what will happen is that they will have various and sundry things in the bill that the "moderates" can vote against and leave behind the abuse of power count over demanding that a foreign power dig up dirt on a political opponent (leave aside that this isn't what happened, and Biden is running against Trump in his dreams, but they are nothing if not loyal to their lies). The moderates will say that they aren't voting for crazy and divisive things but that they are really, really concerned about the national security of the United States and we can't let him get away with using military aid to one of our bestest allies to meddle in our democracy no sir not on my watch!

All they need is one count to survive, and its an impeachment

They will have to face their Trump districts amidst the best economy in anyone's lifetime, with Biden most likely gone, with the mega-scandals of the Obama years [esp. those directed at Trump] probably producing real newz and indictments, with a ridiculous "abuse of power" charge. With the near certainty that it will die in the other house, if it's even taken up.

399 Just to be boring, as to the "Crime' they are going to impeach Trump for - they are going to use the vote on Thursday to say that Impeachment was authorized (it wasn't, but they'll say it was) and then they'll say that Trump has to turn over every internal WH document to them (he doesn't, and it's an unconstitutional request) and then they'll say that's Obstruction of Justice, and that's a Crime!!! and that's what they'll impeach on.
