John Brennan Essentially Admits the Deep State Exists and It Exists to Get Trump

Paper-pushers and unelected bureaucrat-tyrants have decided they run the show.

Meanwhile, a bureaucrat says he had "concerns."

As part of the House's impeachment inquiry, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a director of national security affairs at the National Security Council, is expected to testify Tuesday that he listened to the July phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Situation Room, and reported his concerns to the NSCís lead counsel.

In prepared remarks obtained by Fox News, Vindman wrote: "I did not think it was proper to demand that a foreign government investigate a U.S. citizen, and I was worried about the implications for the U.S. government's support of Ukraine."

Jordan Schaechtel wants to know why we need this guy to characterize the phone call he was listening in on when we have the transcript and can read it ourselves:

The media's going into overdrive to protect their newest Deep State Leaker-Hero:

protectvindman

Glib neocon Liz Cheney joined her liberal establishment allies in claiming that we cannot question veterans. Former NSC staffer Fred Fleitz disagreed:

9 *Sigh* Here we go:

1. Brennan is calling for a military coup. Take from that what you will.

2. The concerns of a bureaucrat are worth exactly what that bureaucrat paid for the coffee he/she/xhe drank that morning.

3. Liz Cheney has her good moments but she's all about protecting daddy's legacy.

55 I think I first heard Presidents come and go but the State Department is forever around 1989 or so.

You want a conspiracy theory? Fine, here's mine that I sort of believe and sort of don't.

The intelligence community and professional diplomats believe they are the one who should be in charge of this country and have thought so since at least FDR. The Church Commission was a minor bump in the road but it convinced what we now call the Deep State that it needed to branch into US politics.

This plan came to fruition with the election of George H W Bush. Since then, the Deep State has had an iron grasp on foreign policy and has been allowed to do as it pleased. Clinton didn't give a rat's ass about foreign policy and, hey, the end of history and all that.

W is his father's son and 9/11 only gave the Deep State open political support for nigh to unlimited spying powers. The Deep State turned a massive, massive failure to its advantage.

Obama's foreign policy was Foggy Bottom's wet dream of globalism and rule by the experts.

Then came Trump. Trump is outside the system. Trump thinks they are idiots, not gods among men. Trump was identified nearly immediately as a threat and has been treated accordingly. And now that Trump won't roll over, like, say, Paul Ryan and John Roberts did, the Deep State is a cornered animal and is lashing out.

*surveys wall* I like how I wove the purple yarn in with the red. It really pops.

No matter what the result is, half the country is going to lose and are unlikely to accept loss without retaliation at this point. I get it that the left has been retaliating or instigating since Kennedy, but what is the endgame? there is no more detente.

172 Alexander Vindman's identical twin brother (named Yevgeny) is a lawyer for the National Security Council. According to Wikipedia the two men grew up in the hive of the Russian mafia, Little Odessa in Brooklyn.

Vindman is repeating the lefty purposful misstatement of Trump's explcit request to Ukraine, wherein he asked them to assist the DOJ efforts to examine the illicit beginnings of the "Russian Collusion" bullshit. The left claims this was a request to find political dirt on Biden.

It's only political dirt if Biden corruptly was involved in seeding the ground for the collusion conspiracy, so....more lefty projection.

This is a spot on assessment.

Diplomats generally choose people like them to join the ranks of the diplomatic corps. Generally Ivy League, liberal, etc. Passing the Foreign Service Exam is difficult, and from the moment you report to A-100, the beginning diplomat training class, you are told you are among the elite. That feeds your ego, especially if you were a dweebish intellectual in college/grad school.

If you rise in the ranks, you gain power, and you think you are really something. That self importance, especially after spending time living in a region and hobnobbing with the literati of the host country fuels the decision making at State. So they think they know more than anybody else about diplomacy. In some cases, they actually might, but those people tend to be helpful, rather than obstacles to actual foreign policy that is the United States ' interest.

They usually do not last long. They are not promoted and forced out, leaving the group thinkers to remain and screw things up more.

This is how propaganda works, folks.

It can never cease, never reduce its intensity, and must always block out the light of truth so that those who are victim to the propaganda cannot ever find their bearings.

They do this shit show because they aren't imaginative enough to come up with some other semi-plausible propaganda.

==========

This isn't good for Nancy.

The electoral in red districts will have the impression that their Democratic congress people aren't stopping impeachment because it keeps going.

And there will be no vote where the red district Democrats can vote against impeachment and take it back to their constituents as proof that they are working against impeachment.

Instead of killing impeachment and giving her moderate Democrats a win they can take back to their constituents, Nancy's trying to have her cake and eat it too. The activist left will also get tired of this at a certain point and engage less with the Democratic Party as a whole when they realize that it's failure theater.

Dagny, unless your mom is paying close attention to say, Tucker, or maybe Laura I, all she is hearing is that Pelosi is having an impeachment vote. Fox News during the day has become seriously dumbed down. They got rid of Shep, but the dumbness continues throughout the day. Starting with AM Fox and Friends, who this morning, Mr. Jen and I watched for appx. 60 sec. before we went to OANN. Kilmeade was crying on and on about why having the Kurds as our allies led us to Bagdadi, and interspersed with that was Ainsley practically crying while describing Kate Mueller as being , she really said this, "abused while in the care of Bagdadi".

Outnumbered is nothing more now than an hour discussion of Lurking Lurker's polls. Today, Joe Biden is leading in all the national polls , and for some reason, it won't matter if he is third or fourth in the primaries.

It's pretty much ignorance, stupidity, and shows that are barely a step above Jersey Shore in actual information and intelligent reporting. I don't know how the real reporters such as Catherine Herridge get through it.

What with 95% of the media in on it; and the rest (Rush, other talk radio, conservative bloggers, OANN) not wanting to come off as paranoid we only get (I hope) everyday voters thinking "screw you beltway and media elites, Trump is working to make America Great Again and I'll vote for him no matter what you throw at the wall" In a sane world we should be screaming for Brennan. Not to mention Italian assistance. I bet Vindman had no problem with this.

As a Jew, myself, I wish people would stop hanging angel wings on us, and assume purity of motives, because "chosen". I used to do this myself, then a Hillel rabbi in East Lansing told me and my friends to stop pretending Jews are perfect saints. We're not, and Russian Jews were not all saints in the Soviet Union and Kaganovich and Yagoda were instrumental in the Ukraine famine in the 30s. I would be curious if Vindman's family left because they were religious or due to their politics. If politics, were they dissidents against Moscow, or fearful of being associated with the leadership? Before Ilhan, I thought we vetted people thoroughly, I am no longer sure.

476 The missing, magic concept here is "scope" as in: what is the scope of your investigation and what charges are being investigated?

For all the loose talk about no "due process" in the "inquiry" (which is undoubtedly true) the missing forest for the trees is that the first requirement of due process is to know what you're being charged with. This is the cornerstone of 500 years of Anglo-American legal tradition, and embedded in the basics of due process in Constitution.

Without starting with "a charge" or even jurisdiction of a "prosecutor" there is no due process possible, no matter how many witnesses you can call in your defense, if you can cross examine etc. because the "charges" are entirely open-ended i.e. Your Life is on trial. Put another way, this is The Trial brought to life, and they want DJT to play the part of Joseph K.

I don't think so.
